We know that being single for men is almost always not a choice, and almost always a choice for women. I stumble upon a lot of single men whining about being single on the internet (mostly MGTOW guys who are apparently on their own way but love to whine), but I almost never see the female version of this. For example, I've seen plenty of posts making fun of men who prefer "traditional" type of women or men who make a list of their standards for a woman on r/NotHowGirlsWork, which is a female echo chamber sub. The comments are usually "I'm happy with my cats" , "glad I don't date men" , "oh, how sad" and so on.

I remember seeing a post about a woman explaining how being ugly has affected her life on r/TwoXChromosomes, and there were literally some comments saying "I wish I was also invisible to men".

So are they happy because, either consciously or subconsciously, they know that they have options? If all of a sudden they had as less options as the average guy, would their opinions remain the same?
