No offense but that's just falsely assuming that the people who want casual sex with lots of women would be the same who care about n-count, which is by and large far from the truth (not to say that there isn't also a marginal minority of such cases), which is that those are actually two mostly separate subgroups:

on one hand people with a loose sociosexual orientation (i.e. promiscuous, into casual sex): those typically don't give a fuck about N-count as they aren't looking for a lasting relationship anyways, so the question of probability of LTR-incapability of a partner doesn't affect them.
on the other hand people with a restricted sociosexual orientation (who want sex only within an LTR and want a partner who will not likely just swap them out for the next number): those typically do care about the empirical track record i.e. n-count.

There is no false assumption. The demographic I'm specifically referring to are men whom desire to have a lot of casual sex, but simultaneously judge women's n-count and slut shame them for engaging in the same casual sex, they wish to be having.

You bringing up LTRs is not relevant to what I'm saying.

Many men of PPD seem to constantly talk about the sex they aren't getting with women, and expressing envy of Chad. Meanwhile, the same users accuse the ladies they want to fuck as high n-count sluts and whores. We even see it in this chat thread.

And I see this same thing play out irl, I over hear how guys talk, with other guys. None of this is new.

No! That's not my argument. I'm pointing out the irony of men who want to have loads of casual sex, but arent, are some of the same dudes slut shaming and fussing about body count. so they're just envious hypocrites.

It's hilarious reading guys' descriptions of how to tell a woman has a "high-n" count. It's always shit like "TATTOOS! And PARTIES! And INSTAGRAM! And MALE FRIENDS!" Like these women are always immodest and vain and go clubbing every week lol.

I'd be considered high-n by most of the low-sociosexual men on this sub and I have no social media (except an old Myspace), a pretty even mix of male/female friends, and I never really allowed people to take photos of me anywhere. No tattoos, rarely drink, rarely do drugs, don't smoke anything. My style varies a bit but I really only show skin if I'm exercising or in the yard. I have a few different social circles too.

The idea that you can just "tell" with external cues is a lie men tell themselves to assuage their fears and help them sleep at night. Facts are, most of the time unless you grew up in the same small town and never left you have no real way to know what a woman has done, and how many people she may have done things with.

I think a more realistic take on N-count is that people care about this for a variety of reasons - experience matchup, value matchup, religious reasons, or something else, and that is all fine. At the very least, N-count usually says something about how we view sex and relationships, and the ways in which a person values physical intimacy.

That all being said, N-count tends to be lower on the priority list for most people. If, hypothetically, you met a man/woman who was perfect for you in all ways, but their N-count was a few higher than what you would might normally go for, I think it’s safe to say most people would still be fine with this. This preference, like many others, has some flexibility in terms of what we will/won’t accept.

Now is some chaste church guy going to wife up a former escort? Absolutely not, because that drastic of a difference does indicate a rather large value mismatch.

But there are absolutely men whose tolerance for high-N in a woman is quite high. To say otherwise would mean all men have the same threshold for what is low/average/high, and we know this isn’t true. Even asking “What is a high N-count?” around the subreddit will yield a variety of answers.

Men who fuck a lot tend to pair up with women who are also unrestricted sociosexuality, and men who don’t also tend to pair up with women who are closed sociosexuality.

People care a lot about n-count not just bc of "oh this person fucked ___ people" but they make assumptions on your personality and values based on this. Like if someone has slept with 30 people before the age of 25 I would be skeptical of that person's ability to take partners and relationships seriously, and how much trauma or issues they are processing - are they acting out from a lifetime of repression, trying to prove or get back at people, etc. There is the looming likelihood of irreversible instability for those looking for a well adjusted long-term partner.

It's the reverse for when women don't want to date 30 year-old virgins, not necessarily b/c they think he's a "loser" but it brings up questions re: his social development and competency and his ability to network and navigate all sorts of dynamics in the real world. If a guy in the western secular world is still a virgin at 30 the chances are "something went wrong", even if it isn't his fault. I would say the same for men appraising high n-count women but then again I don't think a high n-count is a good sign for anyone.

I've already said in this thread I've dated high n count women. You can absolutely get dates. You however will struggle to get commitment from the vast majority of men when they know you're a slut.

It's under 30 but over 20. I consider that pretty high actually. Almost all if those were girlfriends/LTRS (a few FWB). I could have much higher though and did not seek to actively increase it or conquest numbers (because I'm actually pretty picky).

Anyway, this number would be far too high for me to marry a woman with these same numbers. Would i date a woman with these numbers or higher, sure, but "date" as in we are ppl who sleep together, not date with intention of ultimately committing. That's just me personally. Some men may end up committing to a woman who is 20 or 30 because he feels it's still his best option. Again, it's all about options. I have always had a good amount of options, so I never considered spending my life with someone with even close to similar numbers as me (because men and women aren't the same, they ultimately "don't care" but i do care)

… but as for the formula: meh… what that formula basically represents is a person who, from age 18 on, would change sex partners ONCE EVERY TWO YEARS on average. So I don't think I would take that as a measure for anything "LTR-minded", not even when adding an assumption of "really unlucky".

When you arrive as number 7 and ask yourself how probable it is, given the track record, that after her racking up 6 such failures to build a lasting LTR there would magically be a sudden change of pattern just for you so that you would turn out being the lucky one for whom it works out unlike before… rather than just being the next number in an ongoing list… it does seem glaringly improbable from a point of view of sound empirical risk assessment.

Right and they are trying to prevent sex with most men who want to have it with them. OK, if you don't understand this one, let's go back to the market analogy. You have a supply and demand from each side. One side bottlenecks the transaction and the market is suck that a big part of value is exclusiveness of what they have. So the lower the number of copies sold the better. On the other side, a higher number is an indicator of value because that side doesn't bottleneck transactions and ideally wants big volume. So in this case a higher number means that the first side finds what they sell more desirable and it wasn't bottlenecked as much.

At the end of the day, no analogies are needed. It's all explained by a simple fact that men and women are opposite sexes, so of course the standards wouldn't be the same.

Maybe, I go to one of the biggest university's in my state but most women I've gone on date with have been either from my gym or parties with mutual friends.

Yeah, that’s because college tends to be like high school. Yeah it’s way bigger, but in reality a student population is made up of many different subgroups that are pretty small. I was in a frat at a large state university, and Greek life was the subgroup that most of the girls I date/hooked up with came from. It’s a much smaller world than the university as a whole.

Whether you agree or not is irrelevant. No man without a cuck fetish values a woman more for having had sex with more men. Given the option of two identical women in every way except one woman has slept around a lot and the other hasn't, for a long term monogamous relationship, dudes will pick the perceived safer option every time. We can get into bs like paternity certainty, cheating statistics, but it doesn't really matter because there's no downsides to a lower n-count, and there are plenty to a higher n-count.

The only nuance in the discussion is if the women in question are no longer equal in every way, such as having different libidos. i forgot to mention, i have some basic charts that demonstrate that, at least on the ppd 2024 survey, women's perceived and self-reported dating success or ease of dating, was more heavily impacted by their bmi than their n-count. none of the high n (for the sake of simplicity let's call it 20+, high-mid n is 10-20, mid is 5-10, low-mid 3-5, low n 0-2, put your feelings aside please) women who were of a healthy bmi reported anything higher than a 3 on perceived dating struggles, most (nearly all) were at 1-2 for perceived dating issues, so very easy or pretty easy.

however, obese women with high n were way more likely to pick 3-4 for pretty hard. there was also one obese female adult virgin, cant remember what she picked on struggles question atm tho.

the only healthy weight women who picked a 4-5 for very/extremely hard mostly had an n count of less than 5. in fact all the women who picked 5 were not especially high n (maybe to you they are but compared to the really high numbers they dont look that high to me, comparatively speaking), mostly virgins up to ~5-ish.

what do you believe is the cause of this? it was such a staggering number of women agreeing dating wasnt difficult despite being high-n that they are probably not all lying or being duplicitous on the survey.

No matter what these guys on this subreddit say, men do not care in enough numbers to penalize high n count women. Men reward promiscuity. I was rated a 7, 125lbs and 5’4”. I struggled to date as a virgin. I lived in a small town and went to a small college everyone knew my business. A guy might show interest in me we hit it off he finds out I was a virgin from other men, or myself as I learned this was a deal breaker for people. These men repeatedly show interest in me over the years but always pulls back because I’m still not sleeping around. This happened to me too many times to count where men pulled back because I was a virgin but kept me as a friend for 4+ years, they’d talk about how attractive and fun I was behind my back but they did not want to date religious virgins. Being modest isn’t the easy route it was hard physically and emotionally. Emotionally because the perception was that I thought I was too good for everyone because I wasn’t sleeping with anyone or that I’d be a bad lay. Naturally this lead to a lot of bullying. When my first relationship had failed all these men began putting in a lot of effort. I had endless options after that. The men on this subreddit represent the minority of men who hold negative views of women because they weren’t given a chance they feel they deserve. They want to share a first together with someone. You can’t take the opinions on this subreddit and extrapolate them to real life, it won’t work.

Hah, ok I’m one of the women who answered low-n and that also I had difficulty dating.

The reason for this is that women who are sheltered, introverted, non-social, highly neurotic or whatever else will struggle in dating, period. A lot of men seem to think that introverted women can simply exist and be swimming in dick, and this isn’t true at all.

While women have it easier than men in terms of getting interest, women still have to make themselves seem 1) sexually/romantically available, and 2) sexually/romantically receptive. If you, as a woman, struggle in the social department or are high anxiety or something similar, attracting men will seem like a difficult task relative to women who are more “normal” and well-socialized.

Women who struggle in this way are also more likely to be virgins or low-n as a result of difficulty interacting with men.

Interestingly my dating life has gotten easier as I’ve gotten older, precisely because I’ve forced myself to be more social. But in my teens through mid-20s, dating was very difficult for me (I am in my late 20s now).

The question whether a high n-count holds women back needs to be normalized from general dating struggles because someone that struggles with dating cant have a high n-count. So obviously people that are good at dating are a lot more likely to have higher n-counts. Furthermore more experience decreases dating struggles, therefore high n-count in a way makes dating easier. That kinda means that we dont have linear effects here.

So if easy dating means higher n-count and higher n-count means easy dating, but high n-count also makes people less attractive, how are you going to estimate if high n-count is holding someone back?

I think we could model this by having "attractiveness" and "experience" impact "dating success". Then higher n-count could positively impact "experience", which itself impacts "dating success" which further re-enforces n-count. Then you could also have "attractiveness" impact "dating success", which re-enforces n-count, which moderates "attractiveness" however. Then n-count both drives and moderates two factors that impact dating success.

I think if we modelled this we would see that initially lack of experience is holding people back, then eventually, especially if we consider diminishing returns, there may be a cross over point where high n-count starts to negatively impact dating by having a non-negligible impact on attractiveness.

However this is so theoretical its really a bit of a fantasy exercise.

they can be open about it and get guys they are attracted to to simp for them endlessly. at least where i used to live/grew up, near seattle washington. i think the dating scene there is more progressive than other parts of the united states. at least thats a theory someone mentioned when i told them about this.

To be honest, I think lately that all the arguments related to n-count are related to different people's views without any secret speculation.

There are several types of people who care about n-count:

-TYPE 1: Hypocrites and sexists who judge others by standards that they themselves do not adhere to (this includes some redpillers and even incels who envy the sexual success of others and are focused only on sex);

-TYPE 2: Extremely monogamous people who consider intimacy and romance as special actions. They do not know how and / or cannot separate romance and sex and therefore are quite possessive of their partner.

-TYPE 3: People who feel insecure. They are also monogamous and focused on the same things as TYPE 2, but with an admixture of rational self-doubt and retroactive jealousy, but this can be corrected thanks to the efforts of themselves and their partner.

And the types of people who don't care about n-count:

-1 TYPE: Radical feminists who hate the entire male gender and take any thought about any interests of men aggressively. Often share their thoughts on social networks and the Internet, which leads to the creation of etochambers similar to incels and the cultivation of excessive unfounded hatred of men in them.

-2 TYPE: Men brought up in an extremely pro-feminist influence and desperately trying to "fit in" with the modern Western cultural agenda. They try to isolate themselves from other men as much as possible and always put women's problems above men's ("Yes, men have problems with ..., but what about women!?")

-3 TYPE: Hypersexual (and / or polyamorous) men and women who themselves have a rich life sexual experience and therefore are looking for a similar partner. Can separate love and sex.

-4 TYPE: People who are overly self-confident and are not looking for anything serious and therefore they do not care about their partner because they do not see a future with them.

This is probably all that I have seen in my life experience and on the Internet, but if you want to add, I would be glad.

The focus on n-count is problematic as it’s purely a heuristic for other important things such as values.

Some religious and non-religious people value virginity in that case you don’t need someone’s precise n-count to determine if it’s a fit (question that matters is are you a virgin or not - do you value it).

For those that want a lower n-count partner similar to their own - or a partner with similar attitudes to sex you don’t need to exact number to determine someone’s broader values and beliefs - you can ask them their view on casual sex broadly or hooking up and infer casually. Do they wait longer for sex (usually a good indicator).

I know plenty of reborn Christian’s and religious people that had sex before marriage - many still managed to find partners. They often marry people with similar backgrounds - some virgin men marry women with counts of like 2-3 or even significantly higher provided that person had repents - Christianity is also above forgiveness and grace.

Asking n-count imo is liking asking a dude how much money they have across all accounts/assets…

N-Count: the number of people a person has had sex with (broad term, doesn't just have to be hetero PIV sex)

Now, let's further specify a sub classification of n-count, which is "d-count," and let's define that as well.

After all, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. So if he met a nice lady who had n=20 and d=0, he shouldn't hold that against her (and I doubt he would). This hypothetical woman with n=20 and d=0 obviously has never taken a dick (d=0) just as he hasn't and has only slept with women (n=20) just the same as him. She lives up to the standard he holds for himself. A fine match. 👍

Now let's take this same hypothetical man with n=20 & d=0 and have him run into a woman with n=20 & d=20. These numbers are not the same. Of course, everyone is entitled to their preferences for any reason. But in this situation, this man would NOT ☝️ be a hypocrite for rejecting or judging this woman's behavior negatively because it's a standard he completely lives up to (not having a d-count). She failed to live up to the standards that he not only had for a partner, but that he himself truly lived and set the example for. Thank you! This is mathematically correct. Was going to comment something similar (but shorter hehe) after scrolling through the thread, but you beat me to it this week.

The math is N=aD+bV and aD>bV, where a,b are coefficients. D and V counts are weighted differently and matter differently. It is really D count that people care about. This standard is equal and applies to both men and women. So there is no hypocrisy and no double standards if it's used correctly.

People keep denying that men and women are not the same. Well, they are not when it comes to sex, therefore sex with women and sex with men are not the same also. IN fact, they are not comparable, they have different units - one is measured in men and the other in women one had sex with. It's like comparing degrees Kelvin and miles.

Haha, so I just stumbled across this subreddit and thread and frankly I think y'all are kinda nuts. For starters, I'm a pretty normal looking American dude in my early 40s, never rich but usually not poor. I'm not sure of my "N-Count" but my best guess would be 28-30. I got laid for the first time when I was 18 to my girlfriend who I had been dating for close to a year at that point. I spent about 6 years in a monogamous relationship with my now ex-wife (I'm sure at one point I knew her "N-Count" but I have absolutely no recollection because I'd be more likely to remember literally any detail about her before that one).

Of the other 20-odd years when I wasn't married or a child I've had dry spells that lasted multiple years. And I've had stretches where I was literally chasing off hot Scandinavian chicks because I didn't have time or energy for them. I've been sexually frustrated and I've been sexually very fulfilled, but those periods definitely did not correlate perfectly with times I was or wasn't getting laid regularly. I've 'deflowered' 3 virgins (2 I knew at the time, one lied to me and I only found out years later), and on 2 other occasions limited myself to hand a mouth stuff because I didn't want to be their 'first time' (one of those two appreciated this, and one was annoyed by it). I've been with white, black, and Asian Americans, and with white, black and Asian non-Americans, and within those categories have been a broad diversity of ethnicities and national origins. Yet somehow I've never hooked up with a Latina chick, I don't know why not, I think they're hot, I speak half-decent Spanish, I've had lots of Hispanic-American and South American friends over the years, it's just never happened. Once I narrowly avoided being fired, arrested, and murdered because of my relationship with a woman whose hand I held a couple of times. I'd be willing to bet that the biggest chick I've been was bigger than the biggest chick you've been with, and I'll make the same bet for the smallest.

Those 28-30 individuals also represent a huge variety of relationship types. There have been a handful of truly one-off hookups with total strangers. There have been several super intense 5-night stands. There have been friends I fucked then stopped fucking but remained friends with, there have been strangers who became friends after fucking them, and there have been friendships ruined with sex. There have been lots of serious but temporary relationships that ended due to one party or the other moving on to pursue life, and there have been explosive breakups (you know who you are). I've cheated, but not a lot and not for long; I'm not aware of having ever been cheated on, but I probably have, statistically speaking.

What I've never really done is chased pussy. If we go on a date and you want something to happen you need to make it abundantly clear because I would much rather call you a cab than make you uncomfortable, or end a pleasant evening with a bad taste. I've hosted many dozens of young, unaccompanied, friendly, adventurous lady couch-surfers over the years and I've never touched or propositioned a single one of them, and I spent a hellish year madly in love with my roommate who I never told because I will not risk making a person uncomfortable where they sleep. I've ended many dates with a handshake where I've been 90% sure I could have taken her home because I wasn't that into it. Once I paid an escort over $1000 to go to an event with me, got her drunk, smoked her weed in my hotel room, then sent her on her way because my time was up. I've certainly never approached dating as a numbers game, but rather as a getting-to-know-interesting-people game. And I've met a metric fuck ton of interesting people. Sex has always been something that either happens or doesn't as a result of just living life.

And for that reason, if I met the age-appropriate woman of my dreams I would assume her number would be several times mine, like obviously triple digits, because if she's the woman of my dreams then she would have to have somewhat similar ideas to be about living life, putting yourself in interesting situations, and taking what comes. And if a person did that, and was also a stone cold fox (as my dream girl would obviously be), they would have to be actively turning away potentially amazing experiences for the sole purpose of keeping that number down, which is antithetical to any notion of a life well lived in my book.

That's not to say I wouldn't date a girl without a high number. If there's one thing I know for absolute certainty it's that good things come in all manner of packages, and I really don't care one iota how many people you've been with. It's just hard for me to imagine someone who had been with, say, low single digits partners also possessing traits I find appealing, but I'm willing to be surprised. By the same token, if you're turning down meaningful relationships in favor of running up your number I doubt we'd click.

So, do I wish that I had slept with 300 women instead of 30? Only if the quality of those interactions wasn't diminished. If you're asking if I could have had 10x the good times in life, of all sorts, then obviously the answer is yes. But would I trade any significant portion of the positive non-sex experiences I've had for way more sex? No, I don't think so.

In closing, my sex advice, for what little it's worth: just be a person, and be more interested in other people than you are in whether they will have sex with you. In fact, try to get as close as you can to someone you're attracted to without having sex with them; in my experience there's a really good chance you'll end up doing it anyway, and if you don't you still had a positive interaction with another human. It's chiche, but seriously, strive to under-promise and over-deliver. Make yourself interesting enough that someone can know you for years and still be discovering new things. I know that sounds hard, but the good news is that its a two-birds-one-stone type situation: the more interesting things you do the more interesting people you will meet, and the more interesting you will be when you meet them. Then, when you've met them, put your worst foot forward. Unless your worst foot is truly awful, like you're an asshole, or you stink, or you're obsessed with N-Counts. In that case first fix your worst foot before you subject anyone else to it, then go out there and put your new, not so bad, worst foot forward. Encourage people to reject you quickly for things that are important to you or that you can't or won't change, while simultaneously attracting that subset of the population that is actually into you.

I don't get what argument you're trying to make. There's no reason to get sterilized if you don't have sex. Sex is not a need.

It doesn't have to be a need, whether it's a need or not has nothing to do with the price of tea in China. If we have sex drives and want to have sex, and enjoy having sex, sterilization is a great option that should be a win-win for us both. No "people dying" and we get to avoid the risk of pregnancy, which literally harms no one.

Older men aren't in their prime physically...at least potential wise. When a specific man will be in his prime will vary. Let's say he wasted his 20s and early 30s being fat and lazy, but then by 36 he's gotten his act together and looks like Brad Pitt in fight club, he'll be at his prime then. But he could have been at his potential peak probably at 27 or so.

I don't think anyone would argue that men are physically prime at 35 or 40. But the combination of things women care about (Looks, Money, Status) are always going to be older than women, because all 3 of those take time (years and years) to develop. Women are complex creatures that like a variety of traits in men and want the total package (ideally). Men are much more simple minded creatures and the traits they value (Looks/Beauty, Youth, Less Mileage/Baggage, Submissiveness, & Inexperience) are found in younger women.
