You need to focus on taking care of yourself. How you feel and what you need come first. Every single day. Therapy, friends, community, hobbies that interest you, support groups, journaling, creative outlets, etc. I know it might be hard, but you’ll have to figure out how to meet your needs without him. Minimize contact as much as you can. He is causing you more pain, more trauma, than actual benefit.

It's funny because men only need to be judged on one thing, like body-building. While women need to have the perfect shape, plus be feminine, well-travelled, intelligent, altruistic, and compassionate, etc.

How is a 17 year old a well-rounded, accomplished candidate if they barely graduated from Highschool? How is a 35 year old woman who has had time to become a well-rounded confident woman no longer eligible for candidacy? Yes thissss

Do men not understand that women can cheat too… dick is SO abundant

I honestly feel like men who want nice and kind women just want someone they can control, someone that doesn't have respect for themselves as a full human. I used to be called sweet a lottt, and still get called that, but I absolutely love being called fierce and independent and someone who just dgaf what others think. And yes I also am going out of my way to be kind with other women!!

That man is not a professional therapist that can help you heal from your trauma. That man is not you most trusted girlfriends that share a deep understanding because they share the same experience as a woman. That man is not your mother that will hug you and wipe your tears and carry that secret to her grave. That man is not God that will listen without judgement and never tell another soul. Yes all of this

Yeah, definitely. So what I try to focus on is the pure facts. I can appreciate that I had a nice evening with a man, or even a nice month. But the fact is, that’s just what he presented to me. I don’t know how he operates under stress, or what his past relationships were like, or his unhealthy behaviors or coping mechanisms, etc. etc. It’s only over a long period of time that I get to really know someone. And one more thing. If someone finds themselves creating this future in their head over a …

Focus on yourself. Two dates is not enough whatsoever to be in a committed, exclusive relationship, let alone long distance. Sure, you can keep in light contact with him. But don't start painting a future in your mind with him. And don't keep analyzing. Honestly, I would drop him out of your mind until you are actually living in the same city as him and then can vet per normal.

We need to constantly reframe and ask always ask ourselves - how does this man contribute to my life. And if he cheats or is interested in other women, which is a reflection on his character, then he is not worthy to be in my life. We NEVER assume responsibility for a grown man's behavior.

The ordinary woman shouldn’t feel the need to PERFORM with makeup, clothes, and hair to get a man’s love, attention, or loyalty. These are shallow lures — and they’re also totally unreliable. If that’s all your man/crush is into, then you damn well know he’ll be staring at ANY and EVERY good-looking woman who walks by…and will cheat on you with one, if she strikes his interest enough. Yes this. If you are performing to "keep a man" then he will most definitely cheat sooner or later.

ETA: have also ditched heels over 3 inches. It’s just not healthy for the lower body at all. Me too. I want this to be a thing more - high heels, and sandals that are so tight (like almond or pointed toe), are terrible for the body.

Yes definitely. The amount of men that have leered at me or I've seen that leer at other women is totally insane. Most of the time the men aren't even with their wives and that's what kinda freaky to me. Like these men aren't all single. One positive thing women have going when dating is their ability to leave at any time - why would I marry someone and make it that much harder? There is absolutely no benefit to marriage for me.

Wouldn’t this be a huge blow to your confidence? It can be assumed that your body doesn’t do it for them, but other bodies do. Sis, his behavior is LV, it has nothing to do with your body. Also don't send thirst traps, you don't need his validation.

If a woman literally loses out on her pay because she is carrying and raising the child, damn right she gets half of the household income. I like that she has doubled down on this. She's smart and is not going to do all of this unpaid labor for free, putting her in a more financially (and emotionally) vulnerable position.

I haven't watched it - I've only seen the advertisements for it and I was extremely, extremely turned off by it. A lot of sexualization of younger girls - and for entertainment I just don't think that's okay because there are too many girls and guys out there thinking that's okay. Reading the comments here I'm glad I haven't seen it.

I would wait until he relocates and puts effort into seeing and committing to you via actions, and then vet per normal. Seems too early to commit and invest at this point. You can keep in contact with him in the meanwhile, but don't put too much into it [especially don't worry about how you're coming off to him].

Seeking companionship or an activity partner with a man - no. One on one's outside of work - no. Sounds like you want a boyfriend without the sexual piece. The way I see it, woman can have a male friend within a group of friends. Or it can be purely a professional relationship not outside of work. The dynamic between a male and female friendship is not the same as a normal friendship. If he gets a girlfriend, you'll probably be dropped as you should (I wouldn't want my boyfriend hanging out 1on1…

I remember reading in The Tragedy of Heterosexuality by Jane Ward, that many men she interviewed would talk about wanting an adventurous girl. She kept trying to figure out exactly what they meant by adventurous and then she realized finally what they meant - young. It's so disturbing to me.

I don't think he's implying that emotional cheating isn't a deal breaker, my guess is he just didn't list it. Also IME when a guy was emotionally cheating, he also was lying significantly. Lundy has another book called Should I Stay or Should I Go? which goes in depth to other behaviors that would would be dealbreakers that aren't necessarily abusive.

the makeup industry is something I would like to see fade out Same, I hope it does. It is a huge money and energy suck for women - and not to mention the self-esteem hit it takes on girls growing up. I never used to wear a lot of make up, but I did buy quite a bit. I'm so happy to say that I only now use 4 items when I do wear makeup (+glitter if I feel like doing something special).

Why wouldn't following Emma Watson be a problem? I had a male friend in college who was totally obsessed with her. He would tell me his sexual thoughts about her not infrequently (I was a cool girl in my engineering classes, I am not proud at all of it). So anytime I hear about her that's what I think of. And Tswfit and Emma were known and objectified while they were young, what if it's a guy in his 40's following them? I would not be with that guy - it's more about character, personally for me,…
/r/askFDS09/02/22 09:30 PM

This won't work for everyone, but if my boyfriend follows any woman celebrity, then I wouldn't be with him. Reason being I rarely use social media, I don't use IG, IG is literally mostly pictures and doesn't feel as wholesome or ambitious as I desire my life to be. So it's incompatibility at the least. And secondly, (unless it is undoubtedly an inspirational woman that doesn't appeal to the male gaze) women are generally just not respected by men for their genuine talents and accomplishments.

This guy thinks he's the shit and he's not. I think even if she didn't have an OF, he would've told that she "wouldn't be a good representative for the company". He doesn't like her, probably resentful that she's a woman in coding, his field, and OF was an easy excuse.

Yes I love this post! Between 18 and 23 I spent so much money (and time and energy) on an NVX. I can't imagine how tough of a situation that would've left me in if I did it for decades. Financial security is a huge step towards freedom from bad relationships. I'm understanding that more and more (thanks FDS!) and will not financially provide for a man. Others have good advice. I'll say that I personally don't care about a guy "feeling trapped" if the woman is the one that wants the relationship [first]. It sounds very cat/mouse. It's the reason I don't like most of that book (but I have read and liked many other FDS approved books!). A HVM will know that he has agency over what he does and doesn't want to do. He will want or not want a relationship and won't "feel trapped" by a woman stating her desires, he has confidence in himself. If a guy …

I remember a male acquaintance who had mentioned his difficulty using OLD ... and then a couple years later he was soo ecstatic, like he solved a puzzle, as he was going on lots of [coffee] dates and said "Damn, you guys have such low standards!!" It made me so sad that women out there were accepting such low effort and low quality men. I remember playing dumb and being like "what's a coffee date? Is that really a date? I don't get how that's a thing..."

I've become so unethused with men in general that I personally don't have a desire to have sex with a man. So my body might desire sex sometimes, but I remember that if I were to have sex with a man he'd honestly just ruin it, so I keep all my sexiness to myself.

Not one man I was with sexually ever brought up STD testing. I always brought it up. And most of the time they were sure that they didn't have any diseases.. even though the last time they were tested was ... never or a super long time ago. One guy literally thought his annual, preventative care checkups checked for STDs, like without him asking 🤣

I'm so sorry, what a shock that must've been. I would definitely feel appalled as well. I think first step is dealing with the grief and all other emotions you are feeling. Who you thought this man was, wasn't. And that's tough. Personally, I don't care if if his girlfriend just died, or his dog died, or he lost his job, or ... the reason doesn't matter. [Otherwise we should give the thousands++ of men who experience a tragedy a pass to use women for their own sexual gratification? that's silly]…

What's so irritating when people talk about sex work is how sex workers can make so much money. It's a big lie being fed to girls and young women. And yeah when you're 18 and you make $1k over a couple weeks or months you think that's a big deal. But once you're actually an adult with a job you realize you can make that in one paycheck, consistently, with benefits, and don't have to pander to men, sexualize yourself, or lose yourself.

This was probably one of the most harmful pieces of advice for me growing up - this advice that gets spewed across all self-help areas. It basically caused me to overthink, to self-doubt, and to allow my boundaries to be crossed/non-existsnt. It does not allow me to choose myself. This advice becomes worthless when talking about an oppressed class of people.

I'm 27. If I met a man that was 29 and he was dating someone that was 23, I would think very, very poorly of him. I would not date him because it would 100% seem he's preying on a younger woman because he either can't get or isn't attracted to women his age. Either way it's a red flag. If we compare sex work to say consulting, we also see a big difference. I worked for a consulting company as an analyst, and they would send me to different clients to do analyst work, and my employer took a cut. It's unlikely you can heal abandonment issues when your partner reacts in an abandonment-like way (being cold, disconnecting emotionally, unsupportive). Women already are the ones buying birth control, making dr appointments for annual checkups at the gyno, paying copays for some birth control, and then having to the the responsible ones to keep it up to date /take it at the same time of day, etc. Yepp all of this. I visited their website and it does feel so misogynistic.

So I'm mixed on point one. I definitely think it could be worded better. Because women should absolutely have the right to wear what they want without being blamed that their clothing choice caused xyz. For a long time, women's clothing choices have been controlled. Women who were assaulted got blamed for what they were wearing. That they were asking for it. They they were asking for a shitty dude to come near them. No. That being said, I think there should be a distinction of what we wear vs wh…

I completely agree. Example. Men who pay for prostitutes like the fact that these women wouldn’t normally have sex with them if the men weren’t paying for them, the men feel in control. Alternatively, men who don’t want to pay for prostitutes, don’t want to because it’s too easy, they want to be able to coerce more.

When I see a man being nice to a woman, I see it as an act. An act that he's supposed to do to get xyz. And that's why so often in a relationship a man suddenly becomes distant or disrespectful. It was never in their hearts. Women have been property of men since the dawn of time. They haven't shifted into respecting and caring for us as human. Edit: I think every woman needs to read Why Does He Do That.

I've had many moments of clarity. Most happened when I was away from the guy I was dating -- on a trip or hanging with friends, where I started to become myself again. That's when I realized I was losing myself in my relationships. Then the next time I hungout with the guy, I realized how incompatible/immature/unattractive/etc he was. Just needed some space to see it.

I completely agree. I was just reading a book this morning (How to Spot a Dangerous Man by Sandra Brown) where she said that the problem women face is they experience being treated poorly (lack of attentiveness, availability, poor communication, immaturity, mental health issues, abuse etc etc) and then the next man they meet seems amazing because all they've experienced is this lackluster treatment when usually the man is just doing the bare minimum, or a lot of times worse, are able to capitali…

Personally I won't date a man that plays video games. Part of it is definitely because there are a lot LV guys who play, but also part of it is because I just personally don't like video games. I believe we would be too different. It's the same with me for drinking because I rarely drink (like a couple drinks per year), and so someone that drinks much more than rarely is out for me. It becomes a compatibility issue. I think it's perfectly acceptable to just not want a man that plays video games,…

What gets me recently is why are men deciding what's empowering for women? Like when have they ever stood up for causes so selflessly? There are a ton of different causes in the world, (collectively that they caused), why did they decide this is one that they feel passionately about to speak up and suPpoRt? It's total BS. Most don't even understand what empowerment truly means. They are just trying to gaslight everyone.

It's just disturbing. To be able to blatantly admit to nonconsenual sex (but not rape 🤡), whether it be in response to an ad or as part of a study.... that's privilege and institutional power. Men know they don't see women as equal and use them for sex, in whatever way they can get it. I'm glad they study rapists that have been convicted vs rapists that aren't convicted because that's such an important distinction when majority of rape victims don't report and majority rapists that are reported,…

I think there's a difference between appreciating beauty and sexualizing it. All sexualizing is objectifying imo. And most often men are sexualizing beauty, which feels dehumanizing. Honestly the biggest issues for me is just the general ignorance of white men. And unfortunately I grew up in a very white, non-diverse area. Yeah sex work is not empowering. It took me awhile to understand that (thanks fds!) I seriously wish women and girls would realize this and stop being the cool girl (the ones that are choosing to go into sex work by choice). Also men want their cake and to eat it too. They know watching OF and porn is dehumanizing, yet they do it anyways. And they want a woman who “respects herself” - well a woman who respects herself will not put up with guys that watch that disgusting content.

No you're being reasonable. His responses were not appropriate - they were invalidating, belittling and manipulative as he made it seem like something was wrong with you (thus you ask if you are "crazy"). The way I think about this is, is a guy investing in himself or for a future relationship? A guy can have dreams. But if he wants a relationship, he must also have ambition to provide, which means he has to get some sort of steady job and be financially savvy, recognizing that chances are slim to make decent money as [fill in the blank]. If he is only spending time on this "potential" then he's not ready for a relationship; what can he provide at that point? You would be supporting him. If he's …

Any man aged 30+ that would have a relationship with you is a predator. When I was younger, I used to feel similarly. But now I'm 27 now and every once in awhile I see a guy around 30 with a college-aged girl and it's WEIRD. It's like everyone my age now knows that something is off with those guys. Even if they carry esteemed positions. And honestly it looks like the girl is naive and believing some sort of fantasy (not her fault at all). Work on yourself. Focus on school. I love this! As women we are taught by society that the power we hold is in our looks or as sex objects. But that is entirely one-dimensional and ultimately out of our control because it relies upon the male gaze. This is a really great, practical list -- we have so many more tools in our arsenals than just our looks. I especially like "become friends with front desk workers [...] because they have access to information that others do not".

Yes, it can be. I just mean the behavior someone takes while angry. So someone can get angry and that is just a feeling/emotion, and then someone can act on that feeling in a positive or negative way. The actions taken can be walking away, asserting a boundary, name-calling, suppressing the emotion, taking it out on someone etc. I just pointed out the distinction here because sometimes anger gets a bad rep because people might assume it's like punching walls, alternatively if I say anger is good…

You can work at almost any job and make $15k in less than 9 months anddd it wouldn't permanently change your body nor would you have to go through emotional or physical trauma. $15k is totally laughable.

When I was a freshman in college majoring in computer science, my two guy friends and I were walking downtown at night and they joked about raping me in an alley... We called each other *best* friends. So crazy. I was so misguided.

Rape jokes can't exist because there are hundreds, if not thousands, of women raped every day. Rape isn't a joke. Rape jokes are threats. Imagine if the students were talking like this about school shootings. I bet they would receive consequences. Because school shootings are not a joke and are a threat to our society.

“I’m gonna lie to you if I think it’s in your best interest” is a lie in itself And his dealbreaker about being with someone who doesn't trust him is like the biggest red flag. I am reading White Fragility by Robin Diangelo (about one third of the way through) and it's striking how so much of what she says about racism can be applied to sexism. She talks about how the vast vast majority of people in power, including media and entertainment, are white men. She talks about the entitlement and defensive tactics behind privilege. Very good book.

I just had this sinking feeling that after an OF or camgirl deletes her videos, there’s going to be some guy that recorded everything and then sells it years later for a higher price, and then when some guy looks up his new woman co worker online to try see if she ever had an OF, he finds it. So the guy co worker gets a laugh and gets off, the random guy who recorded it makes a profit, both at the woman’s expense, and the girl gets nothing and might feel uncomfortable at work, maybe eventually f…

I always thought "he raped her" gave power to the rapist. And "she was raped" gave more focus to the victim. Like he took something as opposed to something was taken from her. It's unfortunate though because going around saying "she was assaulted", in addition to making it sound like the fault is on the women like you mentioned, makes it seem like women just walk around and magically get assaulted. No, men assault. Men rape.

So if the sex isn't good or there's sexual incompatibilities, it's a sign there is already something wrong with the relationship. Guys who complain about sexual compatibility being the problem are self-centered and dumb imo.

This makes me so angry to my bones. Rape and sexual assault is so rampant. It's a huge burden that women go through, affecting them for years, sometimes their whole life. I'm glad Lady Gaga has persevered and lived to share her story. She has the money and power, and even she doesn't get to put her abuser behind bars. When will this end.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/05/21 09:33 PM

I agree. I can't think of a situation where after going through his phone, you would stay together. Either you find something, which sucks and you breakup. You don't find something, which makes you more anxious because he could've deleted or hidden things, and then eventually (months, years) down the line you do find something and/or the trust is so bad that the relationship just goes downhill, and then you breakup. So either way the relationship ends. Since I've had this happen to me a couple t…

UGH this. I always thought I was the one that needed to "get more self-confidence" when my boyfriend was micro-cheating. That's what the internet, dating advice, and people told me. It's so messed up. No you don't need therapy, you need someone with common decency and respect.

Thank you!! I have been confused about the huge prevalence of make up in society. It is expensive and time consuming. Make up is like a billion (?) dollar industry, and I could only imagine if women could put all that money towards real estate or something, how empowering that would be, rather than to be a consumer to something that really doesn't benefit women all that much.

I DOUBT he's helping her through her anger issues and doing majority of the emotional support. If she needs it so much it is most likely caused by being with this dude. and/or it's a normal response to what is going on around her and he's trying to gaslight her.

I would find someone where you don't have to ask for every little thing. Why do you need to teach someone *constantly* how to treat you? It is exhausting. It also opens you up to manipulation and gaslighting. I would reserve setting and sticking to boundaries, like the author of that book touched on, for bigger things. (E.g. where you are willing to live, how to navigate in-laws, life goals, etc.) An example I can think of is if you were hired at a company. And then one day you just don't show u…

Yeah I really don't understand why women take the man's last name these days. Seems so archaic. If anything I can see creating a new last name for the new family. Edit: Also my sister just got married and I was so happy that she is keeping her last name!! She's in her late 30's and has worked really hard to be independent. I have 5 friends from college getting married this year though and all of them are taking the man's last name :( they're all in their 20s.

Porn has become so socially acceptable because men have controlled the entire narrative. It's crazy. I have ventured out of this sub for a brief period of time and read so many posts of women trying to rationalize their boyfriend/husband's porn addictions or OF accounts. I couldn't believe how much emotional work women were putting into it (betrayal trauma, comMuniCating, monitoring, self-esteem issues, grief, etc.) and it was so heartbreaking to read.

I agree not to post provocative pictures, but I have a huge problem that women can lose their job from it. I don't think that's right and I don't think women should not post provocative pictures because they're afraid of losing their job. That's like saying women should cover up so they don't get harassed. It's just another way to try to control women. Men say and do super shitty things all the time yet they are rarely held accountable.

This is so annoying and sad. I read in Why Does He Do That that the root of abusive and controlling men (read: men), is not mental health or trauma, it's that from a young age they are taught to be entitled to women. It sounds like this scrote is doing just that.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy10/05/21 07:23 PM

Yes they benefit from other men's misogynistic behavior. They also probably care more about a man's opinion of them, then to help women. It's so annoying. I honestly never want to hear about a man who says he helps women or is a feminist or is one of the good guys - like get over yourself.

I think we need to be very wary of female dominant professions because they seem to be inherently oppressed by the patriarchal system that thinks we a responsible for all the world’s woes and should suffer for it. Wow I never thought about it this way. I studied and worked in tech, which was male-dominated and very misogynistic. It's surprising (but also not surprising) that women dominated fields also are greatly affected by patriarchy.

Omg yes, I was dIagNosed with BPD, but luckily I could see through it at the time and didn't internalize it. After healing and processing a lot of trauma, I no longer have symptoms that would classify me as BPD. But it can be so detrimental to think something is fundamentally wrong with you, and to "never be cured only managed" from it. It's sad that so many women are tricked into believing that.

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy25/04/21 01:10 PM
10

There are probably others that can explain it better than me, but basically the work is body-centered, being present with the emotions and sensations in the body, and then coming to some sort of resolution. Core Energetics and Transformational Breathwork are similar modalities. I personally noticed the best results from body-centered therapy.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy25/04/21 03:37 AM

I am so sorry. The experience with your therapist sounds awful. I have stopped traditional therapy for this reason, I just don't know how to vet them and be on the same page. However, I do somatic healing, which in my experience there is a lot less talking and analyzing and more active listening and trauma healing. Idk if it's my counselor or the field, but I feel like I'm validated and my emotions and thoughts are taken seriously. Just a thought.

Yeah overall I found the book really helpful, specifically, the manipulation and control tactics used by men. The author gives a lot of great examples that helps puts words to behaviors and feelings that I've experienced in previous relationships. Like 80% of the abuse mentioned in the book I never really experienced, but it was totally worth it for that 20% that I could relate to. Also, I normally don't like to read too much about men and their psychology because I just don't like putting my en…

Yess! I have loved wfh. I don't have to put on uncomfortable clothing just to go to work. I've had time to do yoga and meditate in the morning and cook healthy meals for myself - something I always did in college but once I started a 9-5 it became hard to do. I've also been able to limit sooo much of the news, pop culture, general propaganda, etc. which has felt like the best relief.

It can be rough having intense emotions. Here are some things that have helped me: - Take some space. I highly recommend getting away for at least three days and disconnecting from your fiance and anyone else that brings on strong emotions as much as you can so you can have a clear headspace. And notice, does having space away help? If it does, then keep taking space. If it makes things worse, then I would expedite seeing a counselor. - Accept your emotions as they come. Write them all down, and…

Great post The hardest part for me is building new, fulfilling connections. I do almost everything that I could want, by myself. And it is great, sometimes. The thing I like most in a relationship (#2) is having someone to live with and do those things with sometimes. In college when I had a bunch of close girl friends, I literally felt #5 for the first time ever, truly not wanting to date a guy because I had many fulfilling friendships. A LOT of the women describe feeling distressed at being gaslit (the authors don't use this term specifically, but that's what it is) because they're able to see and sense that something is wrong with their partners, but their partners constantly deny and accuse them of being jealous, insecure, or insane. This is SO sad to me. Probably bc I spent most of my life like this, and I really don't want any woman to be gaslit into believing they are jealous, insecure or insane.

Interesting video So I feel like for the women mentioned, they felt empowered due to having financial freedom. Something that any successful businessman would also feel. However they are different. Generally speaking, the women exploit themselves, while the businessman exploits others. It is the women's choice. However, it's a pseudo-choice because it's like they are choosing between being poor or self-objectifying and potentially being rich. If they were born rich, and didn't have any trauma, I…

But a man shooting up a women's locker room, he just had a bad day which is normal, idk if that's a hate crime. Also don't be afraid to try a different therapist or type of therapy if you're not noticing that internal shift that you want. What I found that helped for me was going on a transformational retreat where my unloveable beliefs were confronted in the eyes of others, and I felt a sense of my own deeply rooted value that has carried with me. That has been the most efficient and profound mindset shift for me pers…

So much of this sounds similar to my relationship. I know it is tough. Awesome job for upholding your boundaries. You've opened space for getting what you need and deserve 💕

This is just wrong for so many reasons. I can't stand how people talk about sex these days. To me, sex is about intimacy. Like souls meeting and loving, and the physical manifestation of that can be sex. To watch porn does not bring intimacy since there is no connection. Just doesn't make sense, and I feel bad for women who get gaslit into pleasing their partners this way.

She could be single. She doesn't have to be a mother. The image suggests that if someone wants to be both a CEO and be pregnant, she can. She also could be single and working, or a stay at home mom. She can be anything.

Yeah, I agree. What I like to do is to schedule a first date on a day that I already will be dressed a little nicer (have a meeting, brunch plans, etc) so that it doesn’t add as much effort that day to go on a date.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/03/21 09:43 AM

Yeah it's really tough. I'm in a state now where I am also grossed out by men's sexuality. And as I become aware more and more of men and porn, the thought of a man penetrating me just annoys me. Keep following your intuition.

Omg yes!! I've heard this story so many times. Thank you for putting it into words. It's the privilege of getting to slack off, and then the privilege of leveling up in a career, just because you decided it and finally had to put in some work.

Ugh. This reminds me of a photographer that took photos of Emily Ratajowski like ten years ago for a racy photo shoot, and now he is selling a book of all the photos he took that were never published and is profiting off of them. There was an article saying she never signed anything that gave him permission to use them and she tried to fight it but idk whatever came of it. Men profiting off of women’s bodies makes me so mad.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/03/21 05:01 PM
2

That is fair. When creating the post, it was specifically a world made for women, as opposed to both men and women, meaning that naturally the power (and thus some corruption that goes with it) is to benefit the woman. My points are not necessarily to reflect a healthy, harmonious society (although that is great too) because of course it wouldn't be healthy for most men to feel crazy or inferior or shamed for who they are, just moreso as a thought experiment. What a scary world would we live in …

Completely agree. FDS has opened my eyes to lib fem and choice abuse. It's so crazy because for me I felt like I had to go along with being a Cool GirlTM or else the backlash/unacceptance would be worse. It feels like such a big relief - I didn't even consciously recognize the tension it was causing me. But yesss girl, you're in a new chapter and are never going back.

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/03/21 02:34 AM

These are good points. My general thoughts were that they could feel more intimated because they weren't holding positions of power, and maybe just generally less confident. Their BS wouldn't be tolerated, thus feeling a little more unsure of themselves.

Oh poor things, they just didn't understand what we wanted 😌how are they supposed to know when we ask for help around the house, to help around the house. This is what I've been doing wrong. From now on, I'll just spend a couple hours of my day figuring out how to best get through to my man. /s
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/03/21 12:41 PM

Omg so this is going to lead women to keep wondering, "well maybe if I just communicate with him in THIS way, he would" rinse and repeat. Fuck no I've been on that ride and wasted four years of my life. Let's leave it at IF HE WANTED TO, HE WOULD. And let's be real... 90% of the time he does know you want him to, he just doesn't want to.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/03/21 12:34 PM
17

Omg I'm so sorry you had to deal with this LVM :( it's not right. I was with a very similar guy when I was 18. Awful. The ways he would treat me after expressing my feelings were so bad. Invalidating. Disappearing for days. Excuses. And the pickme things I would do. I literally once texted him over 30x in a row when he didn't respond for a week.. yikes. I'm glad you're in a better place now, you deserve so so much more.

Yeah guys who say girls only like bad guys, are just entitled and misogynist, and blame women for their own shortcomings. In my experience, those "nice guys" are some of the worst. They feel entitled to have you and treat you however they want for their benefit, usually from some sick and twisted fantasy.

I heard somewhere before that sometimes victims, who were in situations where they were totally helpless, try to take on some of the responsibility in order to not feel utterly powerless. I feel like Choice Feminism is the macro-level version of that.

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/03/21 06:12 PM

Yeah I hope more and more women start unequivocally stating their boundaries. And I agree it is in no way the woman's problem to caretake to how the man feels after stating said boundary, that's completely on him. And honestly if I were to see a guy make some outlandish remark after a woman stated her boundary, I think the guy is the one that looks stupid, and I think more and more people see it that way. No one likes a bully.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/03/21 01:14 PM

I thought similarly. Having girls who were abused listen to a debate on rape sounds traumatizing. He’s using it as a teaching moment for the boys, but at these girl’s expense..

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/03/21 12:55 AM

It's great that he's taking initiative to bring more awareness to this. But honestly I feel pain hearing that there is even a debate about whether the rape was her fault. Like how is that even a question. Fucking no it's not her fault. Predators rape, predators fault. It's not her fault. No need to discuss reasons why it'd be her fault. Let's just not even entertain that. Imo.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/03/21 12:39 AM

You are not too picky! You know yourself and know what you want, that is a very very good thing. Honestly other people are probably "too picky" too, just either aren't self-aware to know themselves, or doesn't think their criteria is "picky". I'm currently not dating, but I don't want someone that watches porn. I feel like I'll get so much backlash for that one out in the general public if I tell people that. I also don't want someone that drinks alcohol or does drugs.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/03/21 03:18 PM

Yes, this!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/03/21 02:55 PM
17

yes exactly. Men have a world built for them, so they get the luxury of focusing so much of their energy just to grow outwardly or have fun or whatever they want. While a women's world just looks so much different, including healing trauma and trying to keep their sanity just to name a few.

I am just feeling incredibly used. Used by my work who keep wanting me to produce more and more for clients with no additional pay, and my landlord who is increasing rent and adding fees. Why does my job get to make money off of my hard work, and why does my landlord feel entitled to 40% of my income, they own like hundreds of apartment buildings and do very little. I would say to forgive yourself, just having compassion for your younger self and be there for her, she was doing the best she can. Be the person that she can count on, that she can trust has her best interest, something that she never got. To grieve - I cry and be tender. Take care of myself as if I had the flu. For anger, I would not turn it inwards (meaning on myself), and instead put it into something. I bought a freestanding punching bag to just hit it when I'm angry. I also yell in my car.…

omg I can finally confidently say this would be unacceptable in my relationship. My boyfriend following any IG model is just an absolute no, let alone talking to her about jerking off. There is no good reason imo for a man who committed to me, to see sexy IG pictures all the time. just no.

I like this point, if they really need it then they could just fuk their male friends. Why don't they.. bc a lot of them just want to dominate and hurt women and that doesn't qualify as a need bRaH
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy16/03/21 05:15 PM
10

I would immediately block any advances, so anything that seems a little tooo nice or tooo friendly, don't wait for them to completely ask you out. Be firm and try not to placate to being too nice, because they'll think they still have a chance. Alternatively, it might not be the best way to handle it but you could say you are in a serious relationship and that will sometimes stop a lot of men and you'll never have to lie about it to them again.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy16/03/21 05:07 PM

I like this thank you for sharing! I realized smiling was mine, but with masks now, no one knows 😂 it reminds me of "dropping the handkerchief", where a woman can drop her handkerchief in the old days signifying interest, which invites a man to pick it up and then pursue her.

I honestly don't know anymore. I used to think I had good sex, but Idk. Since upping my standards (yay!) I just haven't felt attracted to anyone. And now that I haven't had sex for awhile, I just haven't liked the idea of a guy penetrating me and the domination that comes with that. A journey 💝

Thank you for posting! I am petite (5'1",110lbs) and I have always been more weary of doing some things by myself, because I would just hate how vulnerable it would make me. And I have one friend group that is bigger/taller, and felt like they haven't really understood why I am just not okay being left alone somewhere at night. Like the sheer idea of most men being able to physically overpower me is scary af.

So the way I look at it is this: It is NOT about them. It is not about what they meant, what they thought, how they thought, etc. It is about YOU and how a behavior impacts YOU. A response such as "I didn't mean..." is a defensive one. They are protecting whatever beliefs they hold about themselves. To me, that is on the poor side of communication, relationship building, and conflict resolution. A beneficial response would be to apologize and/or inquire to how to resolve the issue, with immediat…

My ex once told me that he "didn't know his address" since he just moved and I wanted to send him a welcome/care package. I was naive then but even I knew that was so dumb and sus. Found out soon after he was living somewhere with another girl.

I saw that my ex was partying in Florida once via stalking his friend's social media, and when I asked if I could come over, he said tonight wasn't good because he was helping his parents but maybe on some other day. He kept lying for a bit. And then I sent him a screenshot showing that I knew he was actually partying in Florida.... I got no response for about a week and then I texted him and APOLOGIZED. OMG yes! I would start having intense emotional reactions, crying spells all the time and pent up rage, and then read a bunch of self-help books and go to therapy to try to fix myself. Turns out it was just because I was staying in a relationship with an abusive ex. Once that relationship ended my symptoms cleared up so fast
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy14/03/21 12:07 AM

Yes yes exactly! It's so true HVM wouldn't get defensive about stuff on here, they would just use it as a way to better understand women and themselves. It's the LVM that see it as a criticism because they notice the behavior in themselves.

Focus your energy on meeting your needs! Fill your life with some strong, female connections, maybe from a place of worship, community center, or a support group. Invest your energy into growing and expanding yourself! Go to yoga, start a side hustle, volunteer in something that feels worthwhile to you, invest your money Don't let anyone, especially a guy, waste your time! I honestly find it weird. I have very little exposure to it though, and I think my preconceived notions would make it hard for me to have any objective view on it. If the guy fangirl's though, regardless if it's anime or something else, that's probably gonna be an automatic no for me.

A mantra I used when I was getting out of a toxic relationship was "No matter how bad it is, or how bad it gets, I'm going to make it." I had the mantra close to my bed so every morning that's what I focused on.

Thank you for sharing. I feel like this was one of the last FDS principles for me to really realize. I got sucked into the myth that sex work is empowering. It's so weird too because for most of my childhood I was ashamed of my female body and sexuality. And then there was a little relief hearing about "sex work empowers females!" but really what I needed was to feel empowered with my body and sexuality, anddd have respect for it and not be a pickme and try to please men sexually. Idk if I'm exp…

I was so disturbed when I found out the guy who was pursuing me (age 28) was previously seeing a 19 yr old girl... I found out many months later. And he was gonna go to Hawaii with her and her [teenage] friends. I creeped online, and she literally justt turned 19 when they met, before that she was talking about prom. Freaking prom!! whyyy. I legit felt so offended that he now was trying to get with me. And mad at myself a little for entertaining it.

This reminds me about one of my professors who was indicted on charges related to having sex with a minor, aka raping. He wouldn't do it near the university, he would travel out of state for these meetings. And they found some online account where he had been very, very active indicating he's done this at least a dozen times. He's in jail now.

Not to completely generalize, as I'm sure there are many that are not, but I feel there are many predator-like male professors, or professors that imagine having sex with their students. They might not start off that way, or effing be premeditated like this poster. But I feel like if so many men watch porn, and are constantly around college girls, in a more powerful position, there are bound to be times that they slip up. This is the reason I will never date a college professor.

What are your opinions on guys who like anime? I've always been weirded out by it personally, and I know some anime is basically animated porn which is obviously a no-go.

I used to be an escort.. really just a prostitute but never called myself that, and I can 100% agree to this. Having sex with someone that I'm not attracted to was definitely not enjoyable, just used grit to try to get through that part. And I definitely deluded myself to being sex work positive aka to please men at the expense of myself.

This is sad. The woman says she doesn't know what she did wrong.. she didn't do anything to make him cheat or not cheat, that's all his making. This is tough, Idk how I could trust someone after cheating. I'm scared of getting into any serious relationship as well, let alone to have kids.

Omg yeah I never imagined I'd be in the boat of a guy not being able to get it up so soon (we were both in our 20s).. every bf I ever had was rock hard until then. And omg the feeling of being not good enough is intense.. like why isn't he attracted to me to get it up, he still masterbates, i didn't get it. Also communication. Should be able to talk about that shit in a real way with your SO.

When I was a young middle schooler, I watched this show, I loved this show. Looking back I see how messed up this show is. That and all my other favorite kid shows, the Kardashians, Girls Next Door, god knows what else that shaped me into a pickme with no boundaries

There is NO SUCH THING as "TASTING SOME PUSSY" of a SIX YEAR OLD GIRL. Why the fuck is every single adult sexualizing a little girl. This is abuse and pedophilia. Very disturbing

This is totally true. When you start standing up for yourself, you will face backlash from those that benefitted when you were more passive/submissive/silent. It's truly about respecting and valuing ourselves, just like any healthy person would do. In the past, when I started to value myself more, I was met with contrasting information, basically making me doubt myself and go back to my old ways. So it makes me sad for any woman who has this same self-doubt and ends up pleasing the male, confusi…

I know it might not be everyyy women's cup of tea, but I sure hope most women can see FDS and come to any senses that were previously obscured by society. That'd be so awesome.

I love your comment. I actually majored, and worked briefly, in software development. I did not like the field, and I realize a lot of it had to do with just how male-oriented everything in that field was. From being one of only two girls in most of my computer science classes (hearing/witnessing subtle and blatant misogyny so much), and how to learn/find out info I consistently had to be on these male-oriented sites. I wonder how much I would've liked it more had there been a positive female cu…

Over the years, I've just stopped listening to most popular music for that reason. Also anything too "romantic" or too sad. And I've been drawn to more uplifting, sometimes alternative, music, that just overall feels healthy. Makes me sad that these types of songs are so popular.

Oh my gosh, I believed for so long that mEn ArE ViSuAl. Like ingrained in me. But it feels much more like an excuse than biology lol I also wonder how many men really believe that their gender is more "visual" than women because that's what society has told them, and so they never have to act more civilized, and never thought to question it

This is what I've been struggling to articulate in my mind for the last year. I've been sooo gaslit my whole life regarding this. I'm just now trying to make sense of my feelings vs. what society says is true/acceptable etc. And this post is so validating for me. I'm so glad I'm not crazy for thinking this. Thank you.

Diagnosing and treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder really really irks me. I completely agree that IT IS most likely NOT THE PERSON who is diagnosed that is just somehow messed up. That somehow the people diagnosed with BPD are oVeReAcTiNg. People diagnosed with BPD are just being triggered (PTSD/cPTSD) by very real trauma and experiences that they have had in their past, known or unknown. And if people diagnosed with BPD keep having the same reactions with the same people (i.e. husband,…

For me, finding support - be it a counselor, support group, family etc. Figure out what aspect that you desperately crave from this relationship (e.g. physical touch, security, being wanted, companionship, etc.) and meet that need in another way. It can be as simple as holding your inner child in your mind and hugging a pillow. Feel the grief of the loss, and the freedom of what could be gained. Know your reason for why this relationship is no longer serving you. Reduce contact, or cut it off co…

yeah I feel they are pedos themselves, or at the very least can understand these pedos because they see it in themselves and they don't want to blame themselves, which is still just disgusting

I'm literally sooo incredibly happy/thankful that this thread exists. I thought Reddit was more male-oriented so I stayed away. Reading through so many of these posts I resonated so much, and just feel so incredibly relieved from not being gaslit (I feel like I definitely have been over the years from people, society, dating info, etc). I'm so happy to be here.
