I’m genuinely confused. So I keep hearing men complain about not getting matched on apps and getting turned down in person. In this thread almost every man is saying they only find a handful of women attractive on a daily basis. So what’s the real issue here? You all don’t find most women attractive either.

I hate to be an elitist jackass, but it very strongly depends on which part of the country (USA) you're in. Right now I'm visiting family in the Midwest and maybe 1 woman out out of 50 is even remotely attractive. In the bigger cities and more urban environments it rises dramatically. Maybe about 1/2 of the women I see are attractive.

I've lived in NYC and LA, and now I live in a smaller city and I've noticed that there is an extreme dearth of attractive women.

Yeah, this is what seems to happen. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happens with men, too, but I’m not that good of a judge of male attractiveness.

I tend to think most women are not attractive. Chubbiness = instant turn off & that’s like 50% right there.

Maybe 20% of women I get positive visual feedback by looking at them? Says nothing about if they’re my type or anything tho.

I would say about 5% of women look a way that would inspire me to genuinely consider LTRing them. Please note this isn’t necessarily the most attractive 5%. It’s more like the most attractive 15% (7s and up) who are also my type.

Before I get shit on for being picky, I am the male equivalent of the women I aim for. Used to ask people “if we were looksmatches” from TrueRateMe when younger w/ pics of girls I was interested in (cringe, ik) and the answer was pretty much always yes with women in my stated preferences.

You probably work in a male dominated industry. Go to a female dominated industry there's plenty of cute nurses, plenty of cute teachers, childcare workers, receptionists, and whatnot.

Typically (and this sub may give me flac but whatever), in a male dominated industry: if it's an office environment it's knowledge work. The guys in that environment care less about their looks. Women in that environment don't really see the guys as attractive either so they too don't care as much about their looks at work.

Women that pursue careers like engineering are more masculine as well. So the lack of attractiveness is going to be simply lack of feminity. As to big girls.... that's just general office environment in the US where 70% of women are overweight.

You're fussier than most of your ancestors who until modern travel options mostly had a very small selection to choose from, many of whom had smallpox scars or untreated illnesses, did not have benefit of orthodontics and were often out of the preferred age range. If there were three unmarried unrelated single women in your town or region of five hundred people or in the extended tribe that was probably all you had to choose from for most of human history. Doesn't take a genius to work that out.

About the only thing that is usually disliked that is more common is obesity...and you say you like BBW.

Anyway, yes pretty girls have a greater tendency to go to big cities. A big move is less daunting to someone who just seems to be welcomed everywhere she goes. Back before modern transportation they were probably also more likely to end up in larger population centres because nobody with the luxury of spending lots of time traveling was going to the ass end of nowhere to check out rumours an average girl just about to become marriageable was there.

This is going to vary massively depending on where I am going and what I am doing that day and which city I am located in at the time. Back in high school and college I found a good 60% of the women in my age group attractive, but now that I am in my 30s I only found about 10% in that age category attractive because so many aged badly or chose to not stay in the Midwest. The days I visit NYC and to a lesser extent LA for work I will see more attractive women in a day than I normally see in a month back home in the Midwest. It feels like women especially the more attractive women flee the Midwest especially if they are not in the biggest towns like Chicago for places on the coasts but guys it varies because their are lots of jobs that keep them employed locally.

Some? My first instinct is to say “a lot,” but slowing it down and thinking about it, I mentally filter out a lot of older women, women who aren’t my type, women I only say one or two words to because I’m too busy thinking about something else.

Objectively speaking, a typical day at the office puts me in contact with maybe a handful of attractive women, which isn’t a ton considering how many women I work with/around. Going out running errands in a densely populated city I see a lot more, but it’s not like I live in the dressing area of a Victoria’s Secret fashion show.

Like the Seinfeld observation, go to any DMV and you’ll see there really aren’t as many attractive people as you think.

Speaking of big cities, when I lived in Las Vegas most people were thin and attractive. As I drove east it was amazing how many fat people there were. And we all know that being an ideal weight is a major factor in attractiveness.

The main place I go-to is a gym for students so there are plenty of attractive women there, biggest issue is a lot are liberal or have tattoos. Honestly, I think I am going to just stop caring about political views, personality, and all that soon and just filter women by their looks since adding on even those two just eliminates too many.

Most women overeat now and it shows. They’re also full of excuses about why they overeat and do no exercise.

Those who don’t overeat starve themselves into emaciated husks — anything to avoid regular trips to the gym.

Main problems are: - too fat - even if not fat, skinny fat - too skinny, look sickly, drawn - no shape, flat, square, bony - weird facial features - a lot of strong masculine jaws (is it the micro plastics?) - too much makeup - shapeless oversized clothes to look fashionable - never wears heels - cankles and garbage definition on thighs and calves from literally never working out - no ass from literally never doing a squat in her life (you can use bodyweight, muh ladies, it isn’t hard)

You’d think Instagram would encourage more to compete in the great simp gold rush, but nah. The pull of greed and laziness are stronger.

I see very little in my suburb of big city. I might see one at a coffee shop every now and then. But if I travel into town, quite a lot. It was just graduation week & everyone dressed nice partying in the city had me flabbergasted there were so many attractive people.

Bigger population = bigger chances of there being hot people in said population.

I really think this is location based but also sampling bias. Suppose I pass 100 women in a single day, if I see 5 attractive (or even if I see the same 5 attractive women every day - same office, commute, etc) it may seem like I see a lot of attractive women but in reality, it’s really only 5% of the women I saw that day. Also context - how many attractive women do you see at work, on your commute, at the gym etc vs how many attractive women do you see on Tinder vs how many attractive women you see at a bar/club…there are so many factors.

That said, I guess I see 1 attractive women for every 10 women I encounter in the day (I work from home), so maybe 10%.

I work for a healthcare org, and my office is in the largest hospital in the division. I'd say I see less than five or six attractive women at work each day, among a couple of hundred. Granted, some other things factor into that. I'm in the southern US, where obesity is rampant. And I'm also in a relatively rural area...the town I'm in has a population under 40k. The trope of the 'hot nurse' is more of a myth around these parts, though that only disappeared in the past decade or so.

On the other hand, I used to joke that I was going to hang around the local Target to pick up women. Obviously not something I'd do, but I do notice that I can rarely go there without seeing at least a handful of very attractive women. I keep expecting them to put up a velvet rope one of these days.

My local experience is that the best-looking women work in these jobs: dietitian, radiology tech, dental hygenist. Other than the first one, not sure why this is.

Depends what I do during the day.

I live in a large city (for canadian standards) and in an upscale neighbourhood, lots of hot woman around. but if I travel out to other parts of the city I dont see nearly as many.

at work, not much but I work in a male dominated industry.

at the gym I see tons of hot girls (if your city has an equinox, join it lol)

if I go out to restaurants , bars, clubs etc theres quite a few

I think alot of hot woman move away from smaller cities to big ones when they are in their 20s

On a daily basis where I work from home, hit the gym at 11AM when it's absolutely empty, go for my run at 4PM when there's almost no one out then spend the evening reading on my balcony or playing video games, very few.

If I actually leave the house and sit outside on a popular corner for an hour on a nice day, it would be too many to count. There are also many attractive women in my office. After all it's full of smart, driven, innovative people and the median age is right around 30.

Yeah I think the environment you're basing your observations on might not be an entirely random sample. Anything from city size to the industry you're working in can attract a more specific demographic of people.

You'd have to choose a really statistically random environment like an airport or some other location that everyone is equally likely to visit.

I’m guessing this post is a response to the common narrative that most average Woman don’t find average Men attractive but most average Men do find most average Woman attractive. Hence the massive disparity in the dating market.

This disparity though doesn’t stem from Woman or Men on average being more or less attractive than the other. There is no objective way to measure that. It stems from Men having significantly higher libidos than Woman and therefore much lower standards when it comes to sex. In short most Men will sleep with most Woman given the opportunity. With this in mind most Men find most Woman ‘attractive enough’ to sleep with. However that’s very different than thinking all Woman are drop dead gorgeous.

Attractive women do go to larger city's. There's no runway model agency's in small town suburbia. There tends to be much greater financial opportunity's for both sexes alike in down town major city's. The cream of the crop is always rushing to get there ASAP. Suburbia will have good Susie home maker types though. If you live close to a major city make some trips there on weekends. Expand your network greatly in general and you'll find some people you are looking for.
