I actually made a tinder account few days as an mid(4/10) woman. Got like 70 likes in an hour and 6-7 decent matches.

-women have more options than I previously believed.

-The guys that want the avg woman arent chads/hot men but other avg or slightly above men.

-speaking to some of the men they wanted to take me(her) out, not just sex.

Another chick I know irl has gotten over 100 matches as a 3/10 and gone on several dates so far.

Basically ugly/avg women on dating apps have an abundance of decent men at their level. But as we know theyd never give these men a chance. Theyll make a million excuses for why the apps suck, while its codeword for ‘Im not getting hot men to match with me’.

Not a fake opposite sex profile, but I once downloaded Grindr to see how I'd do, just for curiosity's sake. I got 6 likes on day 1, 1 like the next day. Weeks passed I got nothing more.

2 of these people actually read my profile, since I included "start you message with this code word" type thing in the bio.

I'd thought same sex dating on the men's side would be "easy". I thought I'd get the experience of all sorts of messages per day and having to sort through them.

Instead, I just got your standard "a bunch of likes Day 1, almost nothing thereafter" of every dating app.

For what's its worth nobody sent any dick pics, but their intros were all boring or one word.

I've been treated 10x better by men than girls. Dinners paid for, lovely walks at private parks, free drinks, great conversation.

It's worlds apart. I also ask bi girls who they prefer dating, it's always men. My ex was bi, she complained she could never get girls to date her, and that I was too good for her.

It's hard dating girls, even for girls.

I made a female profile, but never talked with the guys, just saw the sheer options out there, hard to understand as a guy with 1 match a week.

I made a fake account as an attractive 7/10 woman. I got 100 matches in 15 mins. Most guys were an instant match. Some guys were cringy/aggressive in their profiles or comments (“I sold my company for 20M,” or opening with “you are the most beautiful woman in the world”) but the vast majority of openers were normal, and I realized that’s the issue. I gave her a super generic profile (she said she liked tacos and margs, the Office, etc) and most guys either tried to engage with my useless prompts or to open with hello, how was your day, etc., but I gave them absolutely nothing to work with.

The differentiator was looks, there were straight up male models in my inbox, the gap between the worst looking and best looking guy in the inbox was insane, maybe 5 points. And I had 100 matches. So honestly the ugly guy has no chance, cus if she’s whittling down 100 matches why would she not cull an unattractive guy?

I had tried this years ago (my comment to the other post). The quick summary: I created a fake profile of a woman that I felt was roughly the same level of physical attractiveness as me. I put a boring one-sentence bio. I got 15x the matches using a female profile. Half the matches sent a message. None of the messages were weird or sexual.

Some of the differences in attention could be explained by more men than women being on the app. I also live in a city with more men than women. Studies have shown that, in cases where men outnumber women (i.e. where women have more power in the dating market), men are more relationship-oriented. Conversely, in places where women outnumber men (e.g. many East-coast cities and in universities), men have more power and casual sex is more common (i.e. women are competing with other women by being more promiscuous).

So, maybe that's why there were zero sexual messages. This would be regional, however.

Overall, it was way more validating to be a woman on a dating app.

I have. Never messaged back or entertained any of them (that would be crossing a line). Got a few inappropriate messages but most were respectful enough. Wasn't inundated by sexual or gross messages but then again, I never messaged back so I'm just relying on first messages. Even got likes from guys who I would say are considerably out of "my" league (doctors, lawyers, bankers, etc.) and I made a pretty generic, cookie cutter, average account. Got more than 100 people in my inbox the first night. Absolutely wild.

I only see men doing this. Women will tell us it’s our profiles and attitudes is why we don’t have success. Would love if every single woman who said this selected an average guys pic and made her own profile and conveyed her own personality and saw how she did.

Results will be predictable. They’d think it’s easier winning the lottery than finding a date as a man.

I’ve never made a fake account but I do date both women and men. Despite getting a lot of matches on tinder with men, I only ever met one in person. The vast majority I never heard from at all, and the few that did chat with me didn’t seem at all serious (asking for nudes, ghosting after we set a date, etc.).

I had a much easier time with women. I got fewer matches but more engagement. I met up with three women in total, the third being my now wife. It was also just generally a much more pleasant experience interacting with women.

And before anyone assumes that I must have been punching above my weight with men (and men only for some reason) both the men and the women I swiped right on were firmly average to below average in looks, and the men tended to be shorter.

Check out gerbert johnson on YouTube. He makes a funny series of doing exactly this with different types of profiles.

On one profile he made a super Chad account and literally just messaged every single girl "head?" and a surprisingly non zero amount of attractive women agreed to meet up just for sex with the dude. He purposely tried being disrespectful but with an extremely attractive profile and he wasn't turned down very often. That just shows you the actual reality of things. If you are mega attractive you can be a total douche and still get pussy.

I did make a female account on OLD and it got a lot of matches unsurprisingly. What was more interesting was the amount of investment on the guys part. I could easily have set up 10 fake dates that same day with the matches.. So many options. That account didn't get any harassment interestingly enough. This was for a day though, so that account could have just gotten lucky.

Didn’t get a zillion matches more like 100-150ish but the guys weren’t obnoxious or trollish. A lot of them were pretty good looking or at least nice looking profiles.

My ex was cute-hot and had thousands of matches. Not to mention tens of thousands followers on IG. She would post a picture of herself by the pool and get hundreds of comments and thousands of likes.

It's unethical to make a fake account. You give false hope to people regardless of gender and contribute to the problems that turned Tinder from a reasonably workable app into a hellhole of self-promoters, bots, cryptoscams, and people (like you are suggesting) doing social "experiments".

Just ask if you can view/see your friends' experiences.

I'd say about 10% of my interactions on dating apps (most recently some months ago) were either incredibly rude or downright criminal or sociopathic or threatening: stalkers, rape threats, dick pics.

This is based in more than three major metropolitan areas of the US.

That still means that 90% of my interactions were decent and I relied on that knowledge/reassurance/math in order to stay on the app, but I can understand why some women leave the apps after even having one experience like that.

No, but I've seen female experiences, and it's hardly the "She has her pick of Chads" that I too often hear. More than once, I had to ride the bus alongside my younger sister because she was tired of guys hitting on her.

I struggle to think of a woman I know who hasn't been raped, or abused, or molested. A couple go three for three. I come across as different, so I'm used to be treated with suspicion, but I can definitely understand why women are wary.

I've seen my friends' accounts which is a lot more ethical. Apps look pretty discouraging from both sides, who knew. It isn't the full experience anyway, as obviously most of the dating experience isn't on an app and many people don't use them at all.

No, but I’ve become convinced that the reason OLD is not working for so many is that 1/3 of the profiles are scammers, 1/3 are people conducting “social experiments” like the one OP describes, leaving only 1/3 of the profiles as people genuinely looking for a casual or long term partner.

No I've never made a fake account as a man, I'll take the men's advice in this sub that it's a desert.

I must admit when I was online dating years ago I was quite fussy. If I was doing it again, I would give more men a chance. But back then you had to pay to contact someone and I was conscious of making a man pay $7 just to message me then I would feel bad rejecting him. Until I went out with one of them and he said the $7 was no big deal, it was the same as buying a girl a drink. Nowadays with the free sites it would be much different.

Thankfully most (if not all) took it lightely when I explained on the first message that I am actually a man and did it for experimental reasons.
