The idea that women are totally fine ending up single and childless relies way too much on what women say in surveys. What someone says they want at 25 and what hits them emotionally at 38 can be two very different things. A lot of women who prioritize career, independence, and financial security early on are not necessarily going to feel the same once the window starts closing and the options get worse.

The 2030 stat is not just some scare tactic either. If fewer people are marrying, fewer people are having kids, and men are opting out because the relationship deal looks worse, then that has real consequences. Birth rates do not care about slogans. An aging population with fewer families is not some personal empowerment win. It is a long-term social problem.

The claim that men want kids more than women actually helps the manosphere argument. If men want families but are walking away because the terms are bad, and women are saying they are unbothered, then the natural result is fewer marriages, fewer children, and more people aging alone. That is not a victory. That is a slow-moving crisis.

Telling the manosphere to “look inward” misses why the content exists in the first place. Men are reacting to real patterns they are seeing in dating, marriage, divorce, incentives, and female behavior. The audience keeps growing because a lot of men hear it and think, “Yeah, that lines up with what I have actually experienced.”

I am not sure anyone will be happy in 30 years when that comes true. Like, I understand the appeal of being single and childless- every year I age I wonder if I would be happy to have a child right now and the answer is always no. I love my life too much. But I see children as an investment in your future, something to cultivate and the ultimate thing a human can do- and unfortunately you can't wake up tomorrow and have a baby in your arms. I very much wonder how many of the people saying they're happy at 25 would say they made the right choice at 50.

I think it’s way more nuanced than the presented percentages, but the gist of it is that women can be perfectly happy without men and children and that’s okay. Because men and children don’t complete us. The manosphere can go back to its circlejerk.

While I’m pretty anti-manosphere in general and will always support a woman’s right to choose the kind of life she wants, I don’t truly believe that nearly half of women genuinely want to stay single AND childless. Maybe one or the other, but both? Idk.

I say that because, as a mid 20s woman who spends a ton of time with other mid 20s women, a lot of the reasons I hear for not wanting kids are problems that could be solved, and not a genuine lack of desire to be a parent. For one, the immense amount of time and money it takes to have kids - if health insurance was better, if more people had strong communities where they could lean on others to help with childcare, and if daycare was cheap and widely accessible, having a kid would be much easier. Some people say they don’t want their identity reduced to “mom,” or to give up their passions in life - if people didn’t already have to work so much for a bare minimum standard of living, there would be more time to pursue things outside of motherhood and to maintain a sense of self. Other people don’t feel prepared or qualified to raise a child - proper mental health care is oftentimes out of reach for young adults, and money is so tight that people my age are putting their groceries on after pay. Some people are just downright terrified of childbirth because of the maternal mortality rates. I’ve also heard people say they don’t want to bring a child into the world that is dying due to human overconsumption, or they don’t want to have to give up traveling or hobbies, or they’re scared of their partner leaving them…. All problems that have solutions.

I don’t think either side can clearly define if women are truly happy about ending up single and childless until the long list of issues around motherhood are addressed on a societal level. Of course there are women who do genuinely not want kids or relationships, but I have a hard time believing that they make up nearly half of the population.

People should do what they want to. No one owes anybody anything, and people don’t always get exactly what they want.

The only thing I’ll say, as a slightly older (I guess?) guy is it’s important to make sure it’s actually what you want and isn’t stemming from push back against other people or societal narratives.

These men just simply can’t see and acknowledge the truth… that the vast majority of those women who end up single and childfree are going to be much much better off because of it. The men seem to think it is a threat while most of these women are nodding their heads and saying, “yeah, that’s the plan“.

Mentally, physically, financially… Women stand to benefit far more when they choose not to get married and not to have children.

Taking on the responsibility of having a man and a child to care for is no longer a benefit to a woman’s life. It is a massive burden in which the woman is the one who makes practically all of the sacrifices.

Even when you ask men directly, they can’t tell you much of anything they actually sacrifice when it comes to raising a family. They go to work and then they come home. The woman carries the child, gives labor, destroys her body, still goes to work and then she comes home and does the majority of the work at home. The man will often spout off and brag about how he will do things like take out the trash, change the oil and mow the yard.

But it’s all nonsense. It’s all imaginary chores that rarely even need to occur. In the reality of most situations, the woman takes her car to a mechanic to get the oil changed. She hires a teenager from down the street to mow the lawn if they can even afford to live in a home that has a yard and she ends up having to ask him eight times to take out the trash so she just ends up doing it herself most of the time.

Most women are better off without marrying a man and nearly the entire male gender is basically having an existential crisis trying to come to terms with that reality. They don’t want to do what it takes to actually add to a woman’s life, but they still want the benefit of having a woman in their lives… and their brains are short-circuiting because they don’t know what to do about it.

There are obvious exceptions, but not very many of them.

More and more women are using sperm donors and going it alone as they have already formed a career and support network. Men are taking themselves out of the gene pool. Sure these women would love to have a partner but when the lack of quality is out there and men refuse to change to meet current expectations women have options. Women childless at that point is a choice, because they can choose to go it alone and even those that partner up are well aware they may be left to go it alone anyway so it’s not a huge leap. Not having to co parent with assholes is actually quite attractive to many women.

Well yeah. Because in 20 or 30 years, when a significant portion of those women figure out that wasting their life on a career only to be unappreciated, replaced, and thrown away was a mistake. Men don’t have the issue with that realization because most of us get a dose of crushing loneliness at some point in our youth. We already know what could happen when you have literally no one. By then, it’ll be too late though. I’m sure some women will be happy. But there’ll be a loooooot that aren’t.

assuming this trend just continues - not at all unlikely - the biggest tragedy won't be gendered nor specific to relationship status and whether or not people have kids

it'll be that this is but one of many signs that human connection between two entire halves of the population is completely severed

so manosphere gets it wrong in both focus and who will be more miserable - it'll be men, by far, no matter how you slice it

but it's not like there's nothing to mourn about the human race either

This is true and yet requires some context. Playing video games day by day till 4am and drinking beer feels cool when you're young and less cool when you're less young, not only because novelty wore off.

Those women are still young, so they have different perspective. Not only their biological clock is not ticking loudly yet, they have time and possibility to change state of affair in really short period of time, assuming they have sensible expectations.

But childless 40+ yo women are permastuck in being without own family with 2/3rd of their adult life ahead remaining. That's not a nice perspective for vast majority of women.

Its not as completely without merit as you'd like to believe. Women spend more and save less at all income levels than men. Social security is becoming more and more tenuous and the cost of living is rising. Many single, childless women will find themselves working harder for longer than their married contemporaries.

Edit: here's a good source with some numbers to back up claims.

A couple interesting things:

single women with children are the poorest (no surprise)
married men and women have the highest wealth and income by a long shot
single childless women and single men have similar wealth overall
however the data is skewed because the women in this group are older on average than the men and wealth + income rises with age. Adjusting for age shows that the wealthiest households are married, followed by single men, then single childless women, then single women with children.

I think we'll see what happens when women today get to their 60s and 70s (i.e., when every vestige of their fertility-signaling traits are gone). Around that age, women essentially become like average men, i.e., having no sex appeal and having to carry everything based on personality and skills. Until we get to that point, we can't really know.

It will also be terrible for men. As populations are getting older and older while having less and less children, we will not have enough people to care for our elderly. We will not have enough people to maintain the infrastructure that enables modern life. All the young people that work at your favorite bars and restaurants serving you will be gone.

These are just a few examples of what a declining population could lead to. So go ahead. Enjoy your financial and career security. By all means, literally no one is going to stop you.

A society that doesnt meet its replentification rate can't continue to exist. Once a society starts recognizing the dismal data you reference, it is already in decay - it's a symptom thereof. As contentious as immigration is in the US, it will help offset the failure of our population to reproduce. Imo I think depending on life choices in your 20s and 30s your dating pool shrinks or expands. For women it shrinks imo based on the caliber of guy they can get to marry them if that's what they want. Their dating pool will never be 0. The quality changes..the same can go for men. Though I think men have more ways to attract women imo

You're taking a few things for granted. First of all, time does not work the same way for women as it does for men. Just because men en masse are still traditionally minded, that doesn't mean they're working on the same timetable as women. So the risk profile for men in that age range is a bit different than it is for women. And while women can still find a partner in their 30s and 40s, the truth is the men at that age probably aren't looking for women their same age, especially if he desires to have children.

I would agree that having children and being single aren't things that women are specifically concerned about, but I would argue that women derive more economic and social power from their appearance than men do (and that gap is decreasing), which can often be qualified by the partner that you have and the children that came from you. While women might not want children and partnership more than their independence and careers, I would argue that they are actually evaluated and valued based on those things anyways (less so compared to in the past).

If women depend on their appearance to get the things that they want, the manosphere RP and BP content creators attacking how they qualify appearance could still scare women I would imagine.

This is the major issue... They are fine with it, until they are in that spot. When you're 25 the world is open, the issue is far away, and so on... Then life happens, and suddenly you're 34 and you just haven't found a guy. All the good guys are partnered up and your doctor is talking to you about freezing your eggs, because it's now or never. It hits women like a truck. I know this because I'm in my late 30s, and it's just a very common experience.

I understand why many men find a sort of guilty pleasure in these quotes/statistics. Partly due to a sense of being proven right—in the sense that women's ever-growing expectations of life lead to a downfall of society (this is debatable, but it is a topic that’s worth debating)—but also since it’s a "fuck you" to the ever-increasing expectations of what men should weather and accept. Mostly by media, but blasted through a megaphone by social media.

If it is true that women actually prioritize careers and financial security (not sure where that threshold actually is for that metric being fulfilled) over starting a family and/or having a loving partner, then it’s only logical that the thesis of women being more empathetic and nurturing—skills that are absolutely necessary for a healthy relationship and parenting—are false. If it´s not false then it shows an utter distaste towards men as a group since that group on an aggregated level are more interested in having a family unit. By having "hard numbers" to back up your feelings, you become more willing to engage in online discourse.

To your end sentence about "Maybe the manosphere should be preaching to their own audience that something needs to change about them to get what they want"—I would argue that men that are online are following women's advice by engaging in "Looksmaxxing." It’s being heckled, which I find very weird. If it is true that most women find most men not physically attractive, but rather non-sexual NPCs unless they build a relationship, while also hearing that men should "care about hygiene, looks, and smell" + several women explaining visceral attraction for some men based on their looks and men's actual empirical experience of having "hot" male friends and the female attraction that they are getting... Women should, in this sense, be thankful for the manosphere, since it helps drive the outcome they are desiring: more attractive men. I also would argue that it´s not men as a group that has gone right on the political spectrum, rather women having gone further left but since the narrative often (always?) is that women are victims of the society they help create its easier to blame men for "going right".

Question:
Based on your life experience, if you could mindcontroll the "Manosphere" to do you bidding - what would you change? Please motivate your explanation in how your theory supports mens agenda of having better relationships and having access to more options of women rather than accepting their first option or be alone.
