the context is that one college from one university wanted to make sure that trans people are welcome in their respective bathrooms. a bad copy and paste job was fixed 4 hours after the OP was made

it was up for like 26 hours? and barely anyones at school anyway so they fixed the mistake before students would feel excluded from the gender neutral bathroom.

I've seen girls go onto the guys restroom many times and not cared a bit because they were going to a stall. We aren't walking around naked in there or something. Personally, I think that gender-specific bathrooms are unnecessary. Urinals or troughs are useful for efficiency's stake, but that doesn't mean you need a men's and women's bathroom, just have a general bathroom and then a pee-standing-up bathroom. I worked for a summer as a college campus janitor and holy shit, the things I've seen in women's bathrooms was the worst.

Men's bathrooms, while the possibility of puke or "missed opportunities" were there, Women's bathrooms had blood, shit, and more randomly and skillfully hidden where you could smell it, but not find it so often. At least with the men's rooms, you could find what was making the offending smell.

Actually this one isn't bad. Women's bathrooms have only stalls whereas men's have urinals as well. Anybody can use a stall, but only men or post-op trans men can use a urinal. Therefore, It would make sense to put a trans bathroom sign on a woman's bathroom and, furthermore, prevent overcrowding by restricting male access, justifying it with the presence of a male only restroom.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and guess that this is posted on what used to be a men's restroom and the sign is (poorly) trying to indicate that women and trans people are now allowed to use it IN ADDITION to its original occupants and not saying it's only women and trans people allowed.

If it is the latter then, yeah, total horse shit.

This sign doesn't imply that men are not allowed to use this restroom. It just states that everyone who identifies as a woman or trans person is allowed to use it.
