My high school girlfriend married her other high school boyfriend (another engineer, but he went to a better school), and left him a couple of years ago; they moved to another state, and I haven't heard from her in a couple of years, but I hope she is doing well.

My ex-wife is working as a cook at a tourist attraction inside a mountain, and lives with her boyfriend who is a repair technician for a chain of pawn shops. They do OK, but she is still crazy.

My daughter's mother married a landscaping contractor who appears to have some form of schizophrenia, which matches up with her BPD perfectly, apparently. She can go to hell, and I'll pack her bags.

One is fine (very career-focused, has dated a few women but hasn't found the one, has an excellent dog, we're still best friends and hang out all the time).

One is probably fine but I don't keep tabs on her (she had a breakdown, lost her job, and moved to Atlanta a little bit after we broke up).

One is probably fine but has been going through some career stuff that started while we were still together and seems to have continued apace since then.

One is a hot mess but he's still friends with all my college friends so I see updates on social media and it's kind of hilarious (he sunk all his savings into acting lessons at a fancy acting school while we were still together, cheated on me and left me for a girl in his acting classes, then worked as an actor in a murder mystery dinner theater for a while, and last I heard was running a pizza pop-up in Brooklyn with his sister. God knows what else he's doing with his life).

Im probably going to be the biggest L in this but Borderline personality disorder ex goes from guy to guy every few years and ruins their lives.

I dont mean that as a exaggeration.

She drains them of money, cheats on them, lives in their house for months until she moves in with the new guy who she is fucking, leaves the guys depressed, broke and emotionally abused.

She is emotionally/verbally abusive and also physically abusive. I heard the last guy was also abusive back and was an alcoholic who couldnt hold a job.

Makes my kids life less stable than it could be.

She is pretty though so she never has trouble finding a guy who wants to sleep with her, try to rescue her, eventually move her into his house. She is good at masking and love bombing for a while.

She seems fairly stable with the most recent one and Im told people with BPD tend to chill a bit with age so Im hoping she can at least find happiness for herself and a stable home for my son the 50% of the time he is there.

Im still picking up the pieces financially since she was with me (she ran up my credit card nehind my back right before leaving, had me pay for an expensive vacation I didnt want to do while claiming she would pay half...which she never did all while planning to leave while seeing someone behind my back. She wanted to get it in before she left It seems. Actually stole the card and was using it after she left then I caught her she was using another card of mine that was saved to her phone until I caught that too) I got super depressed for years because I did love her and planned to spend the rest of my life with her despite her behavior because I was trying to make my family work.

We broke up before covid and I wasnt ready to date for a while but I tried and it was fucking rough then covid hit and everything stopped for two years. Im not sure if I want to get back into dating or not it seems like a lost cause for someone like me at 40. I feel like I had too many years of my life wasted on trying to keep a family together with someone who was just always wanting to chase some romcom fantasy (she is addicted to them).

For a long time I was very angry but now I have forgiven her (so I'm not full of anger, sometimes you just have to let the past go) and I do hope she is happy. I appreciate her as my sons mother if nothing else. Though when he is old enough I will no longer keep contact with her at all. If we didnt have a kid she would be long out of my memory and I wouldnt have tried to hang on to the family like I did.

I have my house and my car. I have my kid 50% or more of the time so it could be worse. Financially im not in a great place. I never had any issues before her and I had perfect credit my entire life and now im fucked.

I have a lot of things going against me at this point and I dont think I will ever find a real partner to spend my life with. I dont believe in red pill or blue pill or whatever but my entire life I tried to be a good person and I tried to do things right and I got absolutely fucked for it. But it could have been worse and I know others have it harder. I just really thought if I were a good person and did things right it would work out for me in the end and now I know thats kind of bullshit.

Basically all the other girls before her were in my friend group at the time and we are all still facebook friends and amicable, I think they are all married and happy so thats good.

My 'first love' cheated on me and that sucked but I was able to move on pretty quickly so it wasnt the end of the world and I didnt care for years really but after the one I was going to spend my life with cheated it really fucked me up. Having your first love and the person who was going to be your partner do that? Lol, sometimes you just have to laugh at how shitty things are.

My wife was carrying on a secret emotional affair with a heroin addict. Another stupid Facebook hookup from her distant past. He flew to her, timed his drugs wrong, had a stroke.

He's now a drooling semi-vegetable propped up in the corner. She's much happier now than she was with me. Sweetest part: she doesn't know I know and she knows nothing about my current life.

Is getting dumped for a human doorstop funnier than getting dumped for, say, a lesbian? I think so.

I met the love of my life online while she was chatting it up with her future houseplant. So I'm pretty chill and light on the indignation. My new wife likes to laugh at her too.

There's a couple of more funny chapters to the story, but humor seems to be a PPD no-no.

Had a first gf in highschool who cheated on me with my best friend, then played mind games and started drama til I ended it.

I met her a decade later, when I was in my hometown. We talked a bit. She mentioned how her next boyfriend abused her and put her into debt. But she's with a guy now and engaged! Good news there, only downside is she caught him cheating on her, and also she's on Seeking arrangements looking for a sugar daddy to fund her wedding, since she didn't go to university and still does unskilled labour jobs.

My first boyfriend got really fat at college, but just graduated.

The second guy I dated was married (I know, that was wrong of both of us.) I think his wife divorced him and took their child. He still sends me emails periodically.

The third is still running a successful business and dating beautiful young women, but none of them will have the baby that he desperately wants.

I don’t know if any other men I went on dates with really count as “exes.” But:

One is still married to a beautiful woman with 5 beautiful kids

Another is single, and became an officer in the Army. (Also he slid into my DMs two years ago, after I’d just had a baby)

One is still a neurosurgeon dating younger women.

One is still a neglectful father living in a shitty, dirty apartment, and works as a massage therapist. He is bald and has a horrible beer gut, but women still come to see him because his massages are to die for.

(I’m not in contact with them; I just do periodic snooping. Not sure about any others.)

Too soon to tell, been a little over a year since the divorce, and we haven’t talked since January.

As far as I know, she’s doing okay. She didn’t work the 4 years we were married, but she’s got a job managing social media account for a city, which is the sorta thing she wanted to get into. She’s gone on one of those post divorce fitness binges, when she had never worked out a day we were together. She now runs in marathons and does well for her age group. She’s gotten out there dating and seems to have no difficulty on that front, even getting some older men to help her out financially. She still has all her family blocked, so still not healed there.

As for me, I got laid off the day after she said she wanted a divorce, took a massive pay cut to take a toxic job as I needed money know as she spent our entire savings having her exit affair, took on all our debt so I could keep the house, liquidated everything we owned and cashed out my 401k so she could have money to start her new life.

Basically left me in poverty for over a year. Just got a new job though that gets me halfway back to wear I was before I was laid off, and staring next year some of the debts will finally begin getting paid off, so financially if I can hold the course I should be good in two years.

Started seeing my friends again I had ignored for 3 years as she didn’t like them, which is nice. Started working out moderately and have gotten back to a healthy weight (I lost 60 lbs in 10 weeks during the affair). Haven’t tried dating yet, and won’t until my financial situation is fixed, as that caused issues that persisted throughout the marriage, even once the finances were good.

Let's see, I don't really know that much, but:

1st boyfriend: He's still single, but finished college (thank god, I'm really happy he didn't give up), got a great job, bought a house, got chunky, and still seems to be pretty much the same dude.

2nd boyfriend: I think he got his doctorate, still single, still the same dude, got even more chunky, still doesn't have a job.

3rd boyfriend: He finished his degree, still single (but was headed for a relationship with a dude who larps as a girl), still jobless outside of freelancing once in awhile for his mom's business, and still a skinny couch-potato.

I still live with my parents, but I'm in a flourishing and happy relationship, finished college, have been employed and gone through different careers (gave up a great one because I found it miserable) currently resting on my laurels in a completely unchallenging and boring job that isn't miserable, most athletic and skinny I've ever been, and changed into a more joyful, adventurous, and curious human.

If I'm being honest, I'm delighted for my first boyfriend, he was a decent dude all said, I'm not surprised about my 2nd (he was a piece of work), and I'm a little sad, but unsurprised for my third as I really hoped he'd make his creative degree work (laziness always was his vice).

One ex is a chef, still single, last I heard had a bit of a substance abuse problem but that was several years ago. He moved across the country and I haven't seen him in like 15 years but still in contact with his sister and other mutual friends from high school.

My first and only ex-girlfriend is doing okay. We broke up last year of college but have kept in pretty consistent contact for around 3-4 years until around 3 months ago. Nothing crazy, she was getting serious with her boyfriend and both agreed it’s for the best.

It’s tough to compare lives cause the experiences tend to be gendered and it depends on what you value. I’m pretty envious of how much easier getting dates are for her. I’ve basically been a virgin since we’ve broken up and that’s definitely not the case for her.

On the other hand, I’ve been pretty successful in my career and she’s not there yet. I live alone and last time I checked she didn’t. So that may something she’s envious about. Or maybe not.

Ex-partners - Well, one of my high school boyfriends lives in SF now and makes music. I have not seen him even though he's less than 2 hours away. But we keep in touch on Facebook. Another one lives in Maryland and has a wife, 4 dogs, and a cat. We are pretty close and I got to see him and his wife a few years back when I went to visit my mother.

My first husband is living in a trailer in the woods on the outskirts of an organic farm on top of a mountain in the Bay area. He lives there for free in exchange for working the farm. He enjoys this lifestyle but he occasionally gets mad because nobody will drive 3 hours on dirt roads through a cow pasture to come visit him. But he won't come down off his mountain to visit anybody here either, including his own daughter. Despite this, we get along very well and we text periodically and I'll give him a call for Christmas and/or his birthday and/or if some particularly juicy gossip comes up among our mutual friends. He is not on social media.

My ex-fiance married the girl he cheated on me with. I occasionally chat with his mother but I have no contact with him, nor do I want it. I'm friends with one of my stepsons on FB, he recently got engaged.

Idk we've blocked each other and have no contact but she was a cougar and had this social media influencer type following, which her Instagram kept getting deleted, but heard some people were weirded out that she was like 42 and jumped on a kid who just turned 18 so idk. Hopefully her life is in a better situation and she sorted through the relationship trauma that helped do us in. I went back into therapy, joined alcohol program, get properly diagnosed and medicated for bipolar disorder, graduated with my degree, and made a social media page for myself so I haven't looked back other than residue issues I had from that being my first adult relationship and being pretty manipulative with mutually toxic codependency.

Therapy can do wonders for you kids 👍

One ex that I dated for 8 months when I was 21 and he was 29 recently found me on social media and told me I had gotten prettier with age (he had not unfortunately) and then asked for nude/lewd pics which I just ignored. He’s divorced and has a daughter, works as a wildlife biologist and seems to have a decent life otherwise.

I’m ENM so there’s another ex that I had relationship with a year ago. I was honest with him about my marital status and what I was looking for and he said he was cool with that. But later he developed feelings and told me he wasn’t satisfied with just having a romantic/sexual relationship that wouldn’t lead to marriage and children. So we ended it amicably but still keep in touch. He’s actually an amazing person, a professor, handsome, kind, close to his family. His first wife died of cancer and he took care of her until her last breath. If I was single I would have married him.

She's the most amazing woman I've met and I knew she would be the best mother ever, so of course she met a great dude and they have a family now. I actually attended to their wedding and I know their child. I have a good friendship with her, and her husband doesn't mind her spending time with me, even her bringing the kid so I can see him too. He's a very good, kind hearted man and I respect him a lot.

I have the life I've ever dreamed, the bike I always wanted, and life is going awesome now.

Honestly, is a relief that she found the right guy in the end. I was afraid she would struggle a bit after we broke up, and I would have blamed myself for the rest of my life if she didn't make it to be a mom.

Had a few flings and FWB as well (he liked to tell me about this stuff thinking it would hurt me and when he realized it didn’t, he actually kinda came to me for advice with his last girlfriend and the fling he had before her) so he’s definitely had a hard time with it, which I expected, we were highschool sweethearts who went through everything together. This destroyed me for a long time I lost so much more than just him. But in the end, I had to stay firm and it was really hard but my life did get better without him in it, and it’s looking like he’s had the same sort of realization. There’s a lot to it and too much to get into in one comment, but overall that’s the gist of it.

I only know how one turned out and it’s because his ex friend’s girlfriend and I are now really close lol. He ended up getting kicked out of his apartment, becoming an alcoholic, stealing from his grandmother after moving in with her.

He was a trash human. And so was I at that point in my life. Which is how I attracted him.

They broke up with me. So they dindt think i was worthy any effort.

My first ex turned into an obese depressed alcoholic (guess I dodged a bullet there) and I have absolutely no clue about my second ex because I have him blocked on everything. I hope he’s doing terribly though.

she moved across the country to live with me, broke up with me while I was paying for all her things, is now living 10 minutes from my parents' house thousands of dollars in debt, searching for happiness in 3-month long relationships that she cycles through as soon as she finds anything wrong with her partner. I don't know about any of their lives because, with most exes, I just don't check in. After a breakup, I don't check in to protect my feelings, and once I'm over them I don't check in because I'm over them.

The one I do know about, I only know cause we ran into each other and he told me how his life is going, plus I checked out his Instagram while debating whether to block him because it's just over and done, and whenever he did message me, it was kind of...him telling me about his new partners or him trying to get me back.

Anyway, based on what he told me, and his insta, his life is a lot different now. We spent our entire young adulthood together, and we were two young gamers that had shitty jobs and we were struggling but we had each other. Definitely not the parental type though. But he was good with kids, so was I, but we both didn't want any of our own. I'm happy we didn't have any cause that would complicate things now. However, he is now in a relationship with someone who has kids and he's taken on a parental type duty. Idk how he feels about it but it just seemed like an adjustment. She also did a thing where she carried another couple's baby to term, and they were documenting that together. He makes good money in real estate and sales now.

His brother died, which I feel awful about, but I couldn't really be there for him the way I otherwise would have been because like I said, after we broke up any interaction led to him trying to get with me or telling me weird stuff about his new partners. So I had to maintain distance. I am very much over him though. It's not hard for me to hear about his new partner now, but it would be awkward if he just started talking about his sex life or tried to get me to have a threesome 🙄 She is a swinger and so is he. I mean to each their own but I don't want to be involved 🤣 I sincerely hope he is happy and that he met his person, and if that's not her I hope he meets her one day. I think me and him got together so young and I was not ready for a relationship and didn't know what I wanted in life yet. We shouldn't be together, and part of me regrets jumping into a relationship with him, but I also don't regret being with him. I don't want to be with him now, but I also think we're better off not really speaking.

As for my life, I make okay money now too. I got into a new relationship about the time that he did. I only date women now and only really want to date women four the rest of my life. I almost stayed with this woman and she had kids too, but we broke up. I never met the kids. It was a good relationship for the most part but there were severe problems. I spent the past three months mourning this terrible breakup but now I made a list of what I want and don't want and I'm immediately removing myself from any situation that doesn't work.
