They say they do.

Like this guy here, they claim men (unlike women) prefer direct communication even if it’s brutal and not nice.

Bollocks!

Men may claim they want that from each other, but what they want from women is someone who is going to comfort, and mother their feelings before she offers advice or her honest opinion. Not someone who is going to tell him the harsh unflattering truth about himself or his reality with no comfort. Men might accept this from other men but they quite literally HATE this from women.

Many men react terribly and childishly to clear honest statements from women when it isn’t what they want to hear.

Most men don’t react emotionally regulated and tactful to receiving direct unflattering truth, especially from women.

I’m not saying women react well to that too, but women don’t delude ourselves into telling everyone it’s our preference.

Our preference to one another when someone is sad or worked up is hear bestie out, comfort, and then decide on a course of action that suits the moment.

Not to mention non-verbal comms is often clear comms to me. I don’t relate to not being able to read the room. So the idea that “only literal” explicit statements are “clear communication” is foreign and inaccurate to me. Hell, I’ve seen people (lower support autistic ppl actually) who say they like that sort of communication actually hate it when they’re in an unwell or sad mood or agitated mood. I think these people simply are introspecting on what they actually want. They’re just being anti and short-sighted for the sake of it.
