I’m a xennial (born 1980) and when I was a teen/young adult no one ever stayed home. It was boring, there was a limited amount of tv channels, no streaming. Most people didn’t have home computers, and video game quality wasn’t good enough to entertain anyone for more than a couple hours.

As a teen, my parents had to make a rule that I had to be home 2 evenings a week because otherwise I was never there. We had our favourite places to hang out (malls, parks, certain friends houses) and could always count on finding friends there. As a young adult, I was out most weekends. Staying home sucked back then cause there was nothing to do.

Nowadays, everyone goes straight home from work/school and stays there cause that’s way easier. This is across all generations but presumably more pronounced in the younger ones because they never had a chance to develop social skills before technology.

OLD was simply a response to people staying home more and it’s turned out to be a failure. It caused dating to become more looks focused. Blue pill advice made sense in the days when we were always out because people were repeatedly exposed to each other in social settings. So a guy who might not have been hot could still have success by getting to know women in the group and showing off his personality over time.
