One constantly repeated talking point about why men should not use dating apps is that the ratio of men to women is abysmal on these apps. Well, in my experience, most spaces where people can reasonably expect openness to sexual advances almost always have a heavily skewed male to female ratio. Clubs, festivals, cocktail parties, hobby spaces etc, always have way more guys there than girls.

The main reasons for this are two in my opinion:

  1. Most women are homebodies. I suspect their higher anxiety levels have something to do with this (here's a study for the PPD autlsts who need studies to explain obvious things). They mostly stay at home and watch Netflix or browse social media and don't go out or do hobbies much (here's another study for the PPD autlsts who need studies to prove the color of the sky)
  2. Most women rely on men to spice up their social life, so they mostly go out when a man suggests something to do and is willing to chaperone them
  3. edit: extra reason that I missed out the first time: men are just hornier by far

The point I'm trying to make is that something being a sausage fest shouldn't be a point to discourage men from trying. Every sexually charged social space is a sausage fest and the only thing a man can do is to stand out from the crowd either with looks, money, clout or extraversion

*The exception to this rule is old lady activities such as salsa, painting etc. I've seen the sex ratios skew heavily female in such spaces, but those are women who are mostly out of the dating market and not open to male advances
