The perception of pretty much every positive trait is enhanced by looks. No matter what trait you value in a partner, looks play into it.

Humor is a common trait cited as beneficial for dating, especially for men, but attractive people are rated as funnier.

I don't have scales to measure these things, but I'd assume average people have average personalities. Stands to reason most attractive people also have average personalities, except because of the aforementioned effect, such attractive people are going to be perceived as having above average personalities. Therefore with looks you win twice.

Therefore looks are more valuable than personality.

Therefore looks > personality

I don't know what to say to really short guys who complain they aren't getting any female attention. It strikes me as Main Character Syndrome. You know there are all sorts of guys born with various traits that make them unattractive--maybe terminally--to women. But you always assume this was supposed to only happen to OTHER guys; you can't be one of them.

Girls don't like really short guys, in general. It is what it is. Deal with it.

Are there men who *genuinely* find thin women sexually attractive? And I mean thin/skinny not slim. Like similar to 15-20% girl in this.

This is a conversation I've had with a friend recently. She says that men are viscerally attracted to bigger women (because they have bigger feminine assets of course) but thin women are a status symbol thanks to Hollywood & the fashion industry. I think this makes a lot of sense as I believe the media people consume can potentially influence their preferences or at least, what they deem valuable (controversial take?) .

She is plus sized and has a lot of sexual experience including with men who were cheating on their slimmer partners (not as thin as the girl I linked). She also gets cat-called and cold approached more than I do. And I think men cat-call/approach for one (or more) of three reasons: (1) they are very attracted to said woman or (2) they think she is vulnerable-looking (e.g. young/short) or (3) she looks more approachable.

I am asking here because I expect you guys to be honest with me. Don't worry, I can take it.

Edit: Forgot to mention. My body is similar to the girl I linked but I am currently trying to gain more weight. Maybe like 5-15lbs. I really don't know.

in every other online space, plain looking women will start posts saying nobody is interested in them, and then the internet rises up to proclaim oh no you are so pretty or girl i would totally hit on you if you weren't in alaska etc. she usually makes these posts in the small periods between boyfriends.

but in ppd, plain girls posts the same thing, and it looks true because this is not an appropriate place to do the normal replies of building her up and hitting on her via dm

I know the typical lore that looks money status. But in my opinion looks ARE status. Specifically height, a tall well put together man simply IS more high status than a short well put together man will ever be.

I’ve noticed this with women too, taller women give off a higher air of status about them, and being seen with a taller woman simply feels like you’re winning more than if she’s shorter.

As eugenic as this sounds I honestly feel like tall people are of a different class of human, they’re seen as and therefore are better.

Any thoughts/disagrees?

For the record I’m dead avg at 5’10

This thread that reached the front page a couple of days ago is the perfect example of why you can't have a rational discussion about looks with women. You would think we could discuss mens faces, are they handsome or ugly, but the vast majority of the comments are about style, grooming, does he wash his ass, or what his hands look like. One woman mentions finding a man attractive until he opened his mouth. So you didn't like him, fine, but he still has the same attractive face, it didn't suddenly change and become not handsome.

The obvious problem is the difference between someone being attractive and you personally being attracted to them but women seem unable or unwilling to separate the two. Attractive men exist, but I'm not attracted to them because I don't like men. Those are two different things. You can show a woman a picture of a 10/10 male model with a short beard and she'll say "he's not attractive because I don't like beards".

Everyone knows the hollywood stereotype of the nerdy girl in glasses and a ponytail who lets her hair down and takes the glasses off and suddenly is pretty. And everybody makes fun of those scenes because we can all see that the actress was beautiful the whole time. And yet women magically pretend to lose this ability when it comes to mens looks.

They'll complain about men objectifying women or the male gaze, like yes men have spent thousands of years admiring womens beauty, making paintings, sculptures, and photos to celebrate the beauty of women. We're kind of experts at it by now. Let's not pretend like men are somehow unable to accurately and fairly judge beauty.

I’ve seen people argue that the gap between how actual hot men are treated compared to above average or average guys guys ls greater than how hot women are treated compared to above average or average women.

Basically they can see a scenario how a girl who is like a 7 thinks she’s hot based on male attention in her life. Meanwhile a guy who is a 7 walking around like he’s hot is delusional barring extreme circumstances

This idea that women are "less visual than men" needs to go away. They're only "less visual" in a pragmatic sense that has nothing to do with sexual attraction. Oh sure, rare exceptions do happen, but as a rule, if you're an ugly fellow, the overwhelming majority of "attraction" you get will be the pragmatic kind masquerading as romantic interest. You're better off staying alone than entering into a relationship like that.

I dont think there's anything I can do that will ever be enough for women. They will always want more out of men because they always want the best, and unless you're naturally gifted you won't be good enough. What a lot of people don't often address when it comes to this topic is that the most attractive men in society put in a massive amount of time, effort and money into their looks, it's very much not just genetics. Male models, actors, musicians, etc. are usually on strict diets, shave their body hair, pluck their eyebrows, have a comprehensive skincare routine, wear makeup, get regular expensive haircuts and style their hair for a long time in the morning, spend a lot of money on their clothes and make sure they fit together, have plastic surgeries... The average male model puts in 20x the amount of effort into their looks than the average blackpiller fapping to them and whining how it's all determined by genetics.

Anyone ever think about how the way you look affects how people interpret your personality? Not just in terms of attractiveness but in terms of stereotyping.

I was thinking about this in relation to the Bryan Kohberger trial. There was a quadruple stabbing at a university not far from where I live and he's the #1 suspect. He looks guilty, he looks capable of murder. So I'm wondering how that effects the public perception of him beyond just the DNA evidence.

Do you think certain facial traits or features and styling can actually indicate character traits?

You want to be attracted to your partner. Most people have a type or things they find attractive in people. I like skinny scrawny guys with feminine faces. So my 10 will look a lot different than someone else's 10. It's not some uniformly hot guy threshold that we are all competing for because everyone desires or finds beautiful different things. I'm more of a Timothee Chalamet...Wyatt Shears.... kind of girl. Where someone else is a Tom Hardy/Jason Mamoa kind of girl. (Im using celebrities as like a loose description) We have a type we like and look for and things we find attractive. There's some universals a nice smile. Facial symmetry. Well maintained.

But what you shouldn't do is date someone you have zero attraction towards lookswise. It's a terrible idea. I dated a guy I didn't find attractive at all. Because I felt more obligated because he did everything someone who is into you does. And it was like wow yeah this is cool. But it always felt like a piece was missing. I felt more like an employee showing up for work than I felt like I was dating someone I wasn't excited just going through the motions. I liked the relationship more than the person I was in a relationship with. And mentally just felt drained all the time. He was a great guy by all metrics. I just wasn't attracted to him physically.. and he deserves someone who's into him. It felt like reading a book and waiting for it to get good but it never does. That unwavering desire and deep admiration should kick in now but it never does. You should at the very bare minimum should have some physical attraction to your partner. I think gaslighting people into dating someone they don't find attractive is more insidious. "You're so shallow" "Hot guys will only just want to sleep with you they could never take you seriously" "Give the guy a chance he's so good to you". But you are dating someone you don't find attractive. It's how you end up in a transactional relationship.

You should have a baseline level of looks. Now granted you can meet a person you find attractive but the personality isn't there or they are really boring that's a thing too. That's not going to move the needle. There are mental components too. But you should at the very basic bare boned skinny minimum find the person you are talking to attractive. He may not be like 10 out of 10. But he can be a 7... You think he's at least cute and things you learn about him can boost how attractive you think he is. But you shouldn't do is date someone you think is unattractive just because they are available. It's just bad for everyone.

If you’re fat and out of shape I automatically assume that you also don’t shower, don’t brush your teeth or put any kind of effort into yourself. Therefore I haven’t / never will date anyone that is objectively fat as it is a major put off.

No matter what any women lies about, looks is absolutely the number one thing. No one is getting close to pErSoNaLiTy or hygiene or misogyny or any other bullshit until the looks threshold is passed.

Everything a woman says must be preceded with “if he’s chad”, except when it’s “unless he’s chad”.

Nothing else they say matters, just blackout the rest of their noises.

Looks aren’t the only thing, but it’s the only and first thing. Everything after that is “well if he’s Chad is he rich”. Then it’s personality and all their other bullshit.
