Genetics/nature have a far greater impact on character traits than our western societies admit. We put way too much stock into "blank slate" theory in general.
Women are less individualistic in both mental and physical traits than men, see male variability hypothesis. Of course, that also means they're more uniform in their dating preferences. This causes offense however because we consider individualism a virtue and women more virtuous than men.
Most women could be somewhat attractive at the very least if they chose to be. Don't be obese, wear make up, wear feminine clothes, don't cut off your hair, don't get shitty tattoos and piercings. The vast majority of women can skip one or several items on this list and still be fine.
The above is true for quite a few men too, but there are also many who are hard-limited by genetics. That barely happens in women.
Our societies linking men's sexual/romantic success to their work ethic and moral virtue is mostly caused by combination of the "women are wonderful" effect, "just world" falllacy and "male hyperagency".

My unpopular opinion is that a lot of people don't actually disagree with a lot of TRP/Manosphere talking points, they just don't like the marketing, framing, or buzzwords. This isn't to say everyone is stupid or shallow: a lot of a product is the packaging or "unboxing" itself, if that makes sense. "The medium is the message." and such.

For example, if you say "Younger women like excitement but prefer stability when they get more mature." that sounds a lot nicer to say than "Women chase alphas when they're young and betas when they're older.", even though it's more or less the same message.

If anything the "nicer" message is arguably worse, since it's still shaming men by implying some are less exciting and additionally shaming women by implying older women are superior and more "mature" in their desires. Still, I bet it'll get far more agreement and traction in the mainstream because it doesn't use obvious "terminally online" slang like "alpha" and "beta".

We all agree that people's preferences change as they get older and those preferences do have a kind of trend to them, it's just that there are ways phrase this that don't trigger the "Oh, I'm reading manosphere content." switch in people's brains.

"Seduction" is a dirty word and the idea that "women need to be convinced" sounds incredibly predatory, but the idea of "responsive desire" sounds basically the same to me: that some people, often but not always heterosexual women, need someone or something else to try to arouse their interest first.

People really contest the 80/20 idea, but regardless of the sourcing or exact measurement criticism of male dating woes does seem to accidentally imply that you need to be very high value to even have a chance. Good photos but not dates? Must be your personality. Good personality too? Oh, well, your style needs work. Trauma? Sorry, you need to go to therapy and love yourself first. And on and on and on, until you do all that self-improvement stuff and it's still "You're not entitled to sex why can't men just make friends?"

As a man it seems as though literally any one aspect of your attractiveness, lifestyle, or likeability as a person can be a dealbreaker, which creates the impression that even the absolute bare minimum is very high. Most men aren't able and willing to do everything you're supposed to do to self-improve, and if after all of that we still can't feel like we deserve anything, the self-improvement treadmill kind of really does boil down to "You need to be top 10% to even have a chance." Even if you don't put a percentage on it and say it directly, it's the logical endpoint of going through all that work to be better than most men and still not have reliable success.

If you use the word "hypergamy" that just sounds really cringe, but on a basic common sense level everyone will pick the best option available, and even mainstream dating advice seems to boil down to this. "You need to stand out from the crowd and be unique!" So...the best option out of a crowd? As in, the best, perhaps top X%, of someone's options? Again, I think so many debates and ideologies are about the packaging rather than the actual logic or observations of reality. We have more in common than we think.

i am not anywhere near blackpill, but i’m starting to recognise more how strangely dishonest ppl are abt how much physical attraction and sexual compatibility matters to relationships.

i don’t know how the narrative spread that women don’t care abt looks or are less shallow than men, but imo being willing to tolerate and date guys you aren’t interested in physically bc they provide some other form of value in return doesn’t make you not shallow, it makes you calculated and opportunistic in ways that don’t signal healthy long term outcomes. if nothing else is on the table and the two parties are extremely attracted to each other, they can and will make the rest work.

if they are not attracted to each other but say the guy fulfills some other need like being a great father for her children, many bad outcomes ought to be expected long term- 1. sex will be wielded as a tool by the woman to get the things she wants out of him 2. the sex that’s had will be worse off for it and necessarily infrequent bc ppl ppl broadly enjoy sex more w/ partners they’re highly attracted to, so the lack of compatibility will be a persistent issue in the bedroom 3. you may potentially waste a decade or more of your own and someone else’s time until realising how not ideal your relationship is and just end up divorcing/breaking up way later than you should. i don’t necessarily think ppl need to have “reasons” to break up the way we expect each other to cause most of it seems like virtue signaling assuming you aren’t obviously being victimised, if you find yourself not being attracted to a man OTHER ppl think are good for you then i think you owe it to yourself and him to be honest abt that and pursue a man that you are attracted to instead of letting the opinions of ppl in your circles (friends and fam) control your relationship.

not that there’s anything wrong with seeking council, but at the end of the day it’s your life and you have to live it instead of letting it happen to you. too many ppl “find themselves” in unhappy relationships bc they are letting life happen to them

If you have to follow lots of rules and do lots of things, they don't like you, you're just an option, it's just "your turn," and you should move on. If you don't, they probably will.

Most of the challenge comes from finding someone who likes you. You can waste years of your life dating or being with time/life wasters who don't actually like you, they just like something you offer, or having a boyfriend, but not you.

Don't give those people your time or life. Save it for someone who likes you. Learn to tell the difference.

Women's entire argument for less interest in dating rests on the idea that men are not safe however men who are violent towards women have no problems attracting women. 1) I like younger men. I think men look best in their late 20s and early 30s. I’m in my late 30s and when I was single it also just so happened most men I matched with were about 6ish years younger than me. I notice some women are afraid the man will care she is older and they worry about him leaving. There is also the perception that younger men won’t commit. I don’t find that to be true but if the man wants kids I’m sure there is truth to it then (I never wanted kids so never dated men who openly did).

2) Dating is easier now. You used to be limited to people you knew socially. Now you can get on your phone and meet someone looking for what you want.

3) Men and women without options will put up with more shit, yeah. Men tend to have fewer options for short term dating.

4) I think cheating rates and number of partner rates is very similar for men and women. Men used to cheat more, but in my country by the 90s that gap had closed. Likely because women are less afraid of being left penniless and unable to work now.

5) Most women prefer lean muscle, not body builder builds. Think swimmer’s bodies.

6) Disagree. Some men who love drama are like this. Don’t notice it being most men.

This is unpopular but I’m totally unclear on why apps are worse than the dating environment circa 2002, having a working memory of both.

It feels like people think settings where a guy had to gin up his “liquid courage” were somehow better, for men or women.

Sticking to only known social circles had pitfalls too, where if a guy was rejected by the wrong woman he faced ostracism, or if a woman got with the wrong guy her reputation suffered.

Women are pickier about whom they have relationships with because they now have more choice and that's not a bad thing. People should hold the standards they want. The fact is women have always had higher standards than men, but historically, they've not had much choice. Why is giving them some autonomy a bad thing? To all the "nice guys" out there, would you actually be happy if you had a daughter and people were constantly telling her to lower her standards? Should she look past how they look or the fact that they're begging for attention and have no real personality beyond depression about the fact they're always single?

Highly depends on the man. Dating gets easier for a significant amount of men not necessarily b/c of some biological "men age better" or whatever but mainly bc many young men were so shitty socially, physically in their youth and it took time to hit their stride. A man in his early 30s who has his fitness and grooming routine and finances on point and has developed social skills will always do better in dating than a 20-something schlub who is afraid to try anything.

Men could do a lot more to appear attractive if they really wanted to. If you spend any time on r/tinder you’ll see these profile reviews that are, for lack of a better term, ridiculous. Bad styling, bad grooming, bad angles, not smiling, and highlighting things that most women don’t find attractive (by that I mean- sure you can be a huge star wars fan, but putting a pic of you in Vader cosplay up against your wall of figurines will significantly diminish the interest you get by large swaths of women. My unpopular opinion as the thought discourse on this sub doesn’t frequently highlight just how big of an issue this truly is: the increasingly complete destruction of the 3rd place and its replacement with online dating.

I think if we just got rid of OLD and severely limited social media this would promote more people to actually interact with real humans and find other satisfying pursuits in life. Being exposed to literally millions of other peoples opinions and lifestyles is the recipe for dissatisfaction.

Also women’s struggles are very valid because the moment you become a “high value” male, you see the exact problems in women that they complain about (for the most part, not as much the physical dangers) with men. It’s a highly difficult and lucky process to find a great, attractive, and moral woman. The difference is that this system is largely subconsciously upheld by women and quite frankly simps and won’t be ending anytime soon probably as they don’t have the same thinking ability that women in this subreddit have even if I disagree with a good number of their opinions. You have to give them credit for at least ruminating over the topic as this actually isn’t as common as we think it is.

Women truly don't like men but they can't outrun their need to be validated by men which makes some of them resent us even more.
Men can become what women want way more easily than women can become what men want.

No. If you're trying to argue this from a biological/cultural perspective, women prefer physically 'capable' men, which means the pecking order is muscular, over-muscular, fat, with skinny and too overweight at the bottom. The number of times I've heard women go on about 'nice arms', they'd take a tubby guy with big arms over a slim dude with 'too skinny' ones. Why do you think so many guys 'skip leg day'?

Things are changing. When I was in my 20's, cougars were rare and were mostly found in bars. Nowadays I'm seeing a lot of Millennial women in their late 30's/early 40's pursuing men in their 20's (usually doesn't end so well for them unless the guy is a dork that is controllable).
True. Men have created a safe bubble (industrialized parts of the world) for women to work and live, "thrive" on their own. Somehow they are more angry at us than ever as a result (despite the fact that men are still behind the scenes maintaining the infrastructure and doing the heavy lifting but oh well...)
Unfortunately true. A word of advice, as long as you consistently demonstrate self respect, there will always be some women willing to date/fuck you. Women complain about a shortage of quality and abundance of quantity. Men should adopt that mindset and you'll be surprised at how women will suddenly take you more seriously (in time).

To point #1, women feel visceral lust similar to men, but are just more coy about. when a man sees a young feminine women in a short sundress with nice legs and a subtle peak up her thigh when the wind blows and maybe a brief asscheek shot - and the man's mind immediately wanders/gets aroused to a HIGH level. women get a similar "I can't help it" feeling when they see an incredibly good looking masculine man - broad shoulders with the t shirt snug against his muscles, 6 foot plus 2 height, gleaming sharp jaw with a rough five a o clock shadow, deep voice. confident body language. the difference between men and women is that women only find a guy like this a few times ever....and constitutes like 0.01% of men. while 10% of women can elicit the same response in men.
face and height>>>>everything else for men. a women would rather a date a guy with a really nice face that is skinny or has a beer belly than a ripped guy with an average face. yes...even an average face. one caveat is that height can make up for a face. if you are tall but have a meh face you can still date attractive women.

Most women are not smart enough to practice hypergamy. Or they’re simply not attractive enough to have the option to choose between an average joe and a handsome man.
Mid women shouldn’t require the same amount of resources/time/effort that an attractive woman does… meaning that you should accept coffee dates or walk in the park dates if you know your appearance is not top tier. It would be a waste of money for the man.
Mid women shouldn’t require the same things in a long term relationship either.. if a bombshell wants anniversary presents/dinner then why would an average woman also get that? If an attractive woman makes a man wait 60 days, then an average woman should require a man to wait less for intimacy.
Anything an average woman requires, should be 90% less effort/time/cost than what an attractive woman would. If a 9 got a $4000 wedding ring then an average woman’s wedding ring should cost less than $400.
If a woman agrees to a 50/50 relationship, then what her husband/bf does with his own money should not be ANY of her business. He should be able to spend money on e girls/onlyfans/female friends as long as he is not actually physically cheating on her and having sex with them.

Example- a man should be able to take his female friend to nice dinners and trips as long as he is actually not cheating. If you were actually financially independent you would be okay with him spending his money HOWEVER he sees fit.

A crazy, attractive woman will always be more preferred than an average looking “chill” woman. They’re chill and low maintenance because they know that’s the only way a man would choose them over a beauty.

I don’t think it will get harder. I do think that it won’t get easier... And people expect it to get easier. It will change and you will have to adapt. Those who adapt win.

Men can massively improve both, and it will make dating easier for them. Some people have this idea that there’s no sense in trying because they’ll never be able to pull 9s and 10s, so they flip the table and say the system is bullshit. I pity them.
