I think you hit a good point when you say that they hate self reflection. Further though, I think they don't want women self-reflecting or being self-aware because that means we are more connected to our intuition and innate senses. If we are more connected to our intuition, we are more likely to see through the games they play and of course they don't want that because then they don't get laid, which I generally feel is their end goal.

When a woman knows herself, men don't get away with the bs they are used to pulling.

On the flip side, sometimes it's a bummer that a lot of women I meet believe in astrology or crystals.

I'm aspiritual, atheist, and a non-believer in most things metaphysical. I wouldn't look down on anyone that is the opposite, and I love hanging out with my spiritual or witchy friends, but I struggle to connect with them on a deeper level sometimes.

More men share these important views with me than women. Kind of a bummer cuz men suck

I’m a science communicator and studied astrophysics.. I hate astrology too and I never encountered people into it until moving to the US. On top of deforming everything from my science (and astrology people frequently get very antagonistic and try to explain gravity or planetary movements to me..a person who wrote a master thesis in this stuff), I think it’s self-centered and narrow-minded. I’ve had people say “oh of course you’re like this, you’re an asparagus/xx”, “I have this bad trait because I’m xx and so can’t improve myself”, constantly ignoring that I’m a complex human being. Just to give you another perspective.

Some men are definitely into it as I’ve had men from OLD suddenly back out of a date when I wouldn’t give them my sign.

I used to like the love languages test but now I think some of it creates pickme behavior; a good partner should be displaying all or most of these things at some point or another.

I am a live and let live person. You can enjoy astrology all you want. But, I do think it is stupid, illogical, and silly. I would be polite to your face, but I would be thinking this. I'm sorry people haven't been polite to you. Just understand to most people, it's like saying you, a grown adult, believe in Santa Claus.

I knew someone who was born on the same day, same year as me, and around the same time in the morning. We are nothing alike. Our paths we have taken in life are nothing alike. According to astrology, we should have similar lives and be alike in personality. Well, that's not the truth. The day, month, and year one was born in does not determine their personality, nor their future. Those factors are based on decisions one's parents make and the ones the person makes themselves.

All astrology is, is an excuse to not be accountable for ones actions because of some silly notion on how the stars align. All astrology is, is an excuse to blame shitty events on some unforeseen force because one doesn't have the coping mechanisms to understand that shit happens, even to the best of people. It's a sugar pill for those who can't cope and need a pick-me-up about their future.

You call it self-reflection? I call it an excuse to not look at your real self. An astrological sign, a quiz, is not going to tell you much if you lack true, honest self-reflection. People lie, even to themselves. Men and women alike.

Honestly, all too often, the people like you who take it seriously and have it as a "hobby" apply it to your life and other's lives, and it turns people off. Because no one wants to be marginalized to a sign. People are a lot deeper than that, and so are you.

Because anything that is beyond the physical (metaphysical) is labeled as irrational. On a similar vein, emotions are seen as irrational too--due to the inability of men measuring this sensation. (A majority of) Men, therefore, are prone to demonstrate their proclamation of love through gesture as opposed to explicating how they feel. Coming from an Academic background myself, there appears to be a war waged between both the social sciences, and harsher sciences for instance. Men tend to dominate the harsher sphere of sciences, and there is this elitism associated... as I've noticed with men in the top position. That is, if it cannot be proved by the dimensions of the physical, it is nonsense.

Just as well, the more spiritually open the man is--the more connected they are to their inner female, the anima. Men that are generally intellectually creative at a higher level--think serious musicians, or artists are generally more sensitive and effeminate. That's due to them being connected to their inner-anima. That anima acts as the conscious gateway to one's higher self, and by that extension... creativity (this is referencing Jungian archetypes).

NOTE: The Anima is the inner-female--the inner feminine to each male. For females, we have the animus which allows us the ability to exercise our power and assertiveness. Many FDS women have a well-developed Animus.

I myself love tarot-reading, and have been invested in reading for myself and my loved ones since last year. The cards are chillingly accurate at times. Tarot is excellent, as you mentioned for self-reflection. It is a useful tool for individuation--the archetypes represents one's journey into becoming an arguably complete/whole version of themselves.

Anything esoteric, closed-minded men tend to see as 'gay'. They tend to lean toward atheism, or the harsher sciences. That is why, when they're trying to argue a point... I've noticed that they also massage scientific research. That is, to defend their shitty behavior "UH, MEN NEED TO MATE WITH SEVERAL WIMMINS! IT'S BIOLOGGGYYY." They hold a belief that the only thing which exists, is what their consciousness experiences--which, if we're being honest, is fuck all.

There is much more to this world than what is merely projected through our limited, human sensorium.

I took up tarot at a low point in my life. It has helped me get in touch with my intuition and taught me key life lessons like:

Temperance- You can only pour from a full cup aka tend to yourself before you tend to others
The Devil- Duality is within all of us and it’s important to truly know myself before trying to know someone else
The Empress- The feminine is bountiful and beautiful
The hermit- periods of reflection and solitude nourish the soul
The Tower- you can always rebuild from the rubble

Getting in to tarot, led me to do shadow work and to really examine my patterns. It’s a great tool that can help you understand yourself.

I'm female and being also a scientist, I despise it, as harsh as it sounds. That it's fundamentally illogical and not based on science goes without saying, but more importantly it is a huge marketing scheme that profits of the escapism of its target group and builds an alternative, religion-like, reality in which women (and men) are lured and isolated from the rest of the world.

You gain nothing from it (except perhaps pretty jewelery), you don't learn any skills from it that allow you to progress and get powerful in the real world. It is a waste of time and energy for woman (or any person really), who should seek to change and better the world. It is nothing more than another consumerist trend.

To be really and actually independent and free from any manipulation, false information and to make the best informed decisions, you need to understand the scientific fundamentals and principles of the world. And the moment you grasp stochastic principles, physics and evidence-based psychology, astrology becomes absolutely redundant.

It’s supernatural, it provides answers in moments of lacking clarity. It takes awareness and great self perception to be able to find application in the supernatural. Men lack those traits, they see it and go “it’s wrong so it’s not real” we see it and say “this helps clarify or put this aspect of myself and my life into greater perspective and focus.”

We’re seeking self improvement and understanding constantly allowing us to pull some meaning out of anything supernatural and use it. We also are more humble and are willing to let nature decide a new path for us or warn us off other paths

I think men just hate self reflection. My ex refused to take the love language quiz or the MBTI personality quiz. Like for fucks sake I'm trying to figure out who you are so i can love you to the best of my ability and you dont even care that you look at a stranger in the mirror every morning.

This really resonated with me. I had the exact same experience and thought the same as you too. Is it really so hard to take a 5 min quiz? Do you really need to hurr hurr hurr and say 'I already know mine is physical'. Like ffs, grow up. I know people who have been surprised by what they have come out with. If I know that sprinkling a few more verbal expressions of love, or choosing to chill in the same room even while doing other stuff, or gifting you little thoughtful things like picking up a bar of your favourite chocolate after work makes you feel more loved, I'll do it.

Of course, the ideal relationship has elements of all the languages, but if I know how to make you tick and vice versa, we can put a bit more emphasis on those ones.

Gah, sorry, rant over.

As for tarot/astrology, I find it fascinating and fun but I wouldn't base any major life decisions on my results. I am NOT knocking anyone who would though. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, hobbies etc. To those serious about it, I say more power to ya!

I am a practitioner of witchcraft, focusing specifically on the healing side, personal growth and empowerment. I have chosen two angels as my spiritual guides and, whenever I initiate rituals that surround them, I use those rituals as a moment of meditation. What areas of life I have improved, where I can do better, focusing on specific events or people who have had a negative impact on me and how I want to overcome that impact and heal. I always make a note to thank my spiritual guides for their presence in my life, and so on. For me, at least, it works wonders.

I have taken to reading a lot of dating strategy books, psychology books and so on. For me, it's basically gathering knowledge that I can later apply to firstly work on myself and better myself. When I feel depleted of energy, tiny cleansing or healing rituals help me. If I am too tired for that, a simple prayer to my spiritual guides seems to help a lot, too.

Men will laugh at ANYTHING women love. For some of them, romance novels or movies are boring. For some of them, video games with depth and substance are boring because they just want the adrenaline of shooting things. As a result, they seem to lack substance themselves. A person who lacks substance is bound not to be self-aware. Self awareness takes a lot. It means going to be uncomfortable with yourself, holding yourself accountable, holding yourself to scrutiny and high standards of discipline, consistency, and so on. Some men simply won't do the work in this direction.

This post resonates with me. Whenever I'm at a dark place mentally, like before a big decision or somethings just bothering me a lot, I like to draw tarot cards. I have this one set that just seems to speak to me sometimes. I also own a few crystals who are sacred to me and often light candles. It's just so soothing.

So when I told my current boyfriend about it, his acceptance about this part of me and his absolute lack of dumb comments about it went into my choice of dating him exclusively. He even asked me to draw some cards for him because he was curious about what they would have to say.

Most men fear our feminine power. We have to weed them out.

I think astrology has taken on a “feminine” quality in our culture, and men with fragile egos hate anything and everything that is feminine. That’s why some women who don’t enjoy astrology don’t make a huge deal out of it, but fragile men need to make sure EVERYONE KNOWS they think it’s dumb. God forbid anyone thinks they’re feminine.

I think you’re on the money for self reflection. Whether or not anyone actually believes in astrology/tarot/personality quizzes/etc it’s usually just fun and pretty positive if you aren’t going to someone who wants to fear-monger into you giving them more money.

When I got my palm read, the lady was like, “you struggle with self doubt but you’re really creative and I see you breaking through that fear and creating more blah blah” like it could totally be a bunch of malarkey! But who doesn’t struggle with self doubt sometimes? Who doesn’t want explore their creative side? It’s more of a reminder to explore your passions and feel confident.

Idk that’s just one example.

Can't speak about astrology but as a Christian, atheist men can be utter bullies. I got trashed, harassed and attacked by so many in the manosphere as a teenager with my love for ideological discourse (I've learned my lesson).

They really do have this weird aversion to anything spiritual, even though so much of what they themselves believe is feels, not facts. And mbti, that's not even spiritual or religious, it's just a helpful personality tool and while I've met some who don't hate it, a lot really dislike anything involving personality analysis. Almost like they don't like soul searching.

I think some of it is also just because these losers will hate anything women like.

I’ve read Tarot for many years and interestingly have found that the men who are into it are REALLY into it. I have two clients who are men who will not make a move in business without a reading first. That’s not to say that that is the only advice they use to determine what direction to take, but one tool in their arsenal.

That said, it is mostly women who want readings and mostly their love life they want to know about.

Yoga professional here scratching my head at where everyone is meeting all these astrology obsessed folks. I honestly don't know anyone who excuses their bad behavior by informing me they're a Capricorn or something! That said, I'm a relaxed Ayurvedist & do find certain broader concepts of astrology, especially lunar cycles, tie in well as I design practices.

Really, though. What's the harm in someone deriving comfort from a belief as long as they aren't trying to impose that belief on others?

But I agree, men just are aggravating. A man that actually cares for you, will care about these items. My sister is married to a bug burly guy. She is the one who got me into all things personality tests and astrology. Her husband indulges her in all of this! And not just her husband but his sons too. One of them picked out all the perfect crystals for her and everything.

So I don't think it's an all male. But certain male. My ex hated it! Said it was all stupid and you could manipulate the tests to get what you want. Should have realized he was manipulative from that, but oh well. Casually seeing someone else, and he listens to my two hour rant on zodiac signs and what an Enneagram is.
