I disagree, I think those affected by it are absolutely angry. Bit a lot of men dont display these polygynic tendencies any more than women display polyandry. Monogamy is pretty common and decent guys are loyal and dont really do anything that shows that they want other women. Most women break up and are extremely devastated if they get cheated on in any way so I would not say at all that they are accepting of it. Some women become very jaded and hateful if this is their experience.

Edit: isn't it even a stereotype how possessive and jealous some women can be (though in reality i think they are perfectly matched by how possessive and jealous some men can be)..

I think a better question would be how does a women express anger and how does that anger relate to sexual selection? There's some studies on this if you want to actually look them up.

The thing is you can't assume men and women express anger equally and in the same manner and then point to sexual selection for men as the cause of their higher level of anger. You're not really comparing the interaction of both reactions to sexual selection because there are too many biological and social external variables.

IMO women are as angry but their socialization prepares them early on for this information and they are more likely to learn how to deal with their emotions communinally. Men on the other hand are shamed for their emotional intelligence, are socialised to compete for a madonna/whore, and have no cultural or communal practice to learn other than religion.

The difference in anger is more than a stereotype. Men are likely to express agentic anger and women communal anger because of how they're socialised and biology. Men are more likely to feel threatened by limits to their control over their environment and women more likely to feel threatened by limits to their control of relationships and social functioning.

There’s so much wrong about this post...

What I’m getting from this post is: - men want easy sex with a woman who is forever theirs, which they can’t have which makes them angry - women should be angry that their man will always be looking for other women and she will never be special to him.

Anybody who has been in a relationship knows that yes, in fact, the two people in the relationship can be fully committed to each other, and can have a healthy sex life. There’s no reason to be mad about polygyny when you’re in a relationship where your partner makes you feel special every day.

Maybe this stuff is real in abstract PPD world but real life doesn’t work like this. In real life, two people can find each other sexually and emotionally compatible and have a very enjoyable relationship where both feel good most of the time. 90% of the people I know are in relationships like this.

I have a friend irl that is also on all these subs and we talk about these things. A few weeks back I brought up the same question: why is there no female equivalent to a rage phase? He was like: ‘there is, you went through it a few years back when you went crazy feminist and literally hated all men’. And he was right. For a little while there I really went off the extreme feminist deep end. There is so much female rage about male nature - rape, physical abuse, femicide, sexual harassment, unwanted touching, catcalling, getting told to smile, body policing, being controlled and limited and scared. By the time you get to polygyny you’re already exhausted from all the rage. You learn to prioritise the rage, box some of it away that doesn’t pose an immediate threat to you. Polygyny is not something I think about - I just expect the man I am with to stay loyal to me and if he really wants to fuck someone else to break up with me first. I cannot change every mans behaviour. I cannot make someone only have desire for me. I can expect loyalty, so that’s what I focus on.

For most women the rage is not a phase. It’s something you learn to control, or something you consciously work to push down or compartmentalise. It’s not limited to certain sub group of people on a niche sub that have ‘learnt the truth’. It’s telling a group of women a bad experience with a man and 80% of them saying they’ve had the exact same experience. It’s watching the news today and amongst all the corona virus shit hearing that the 4 of the men that raped and murdered Jyoti Singh 7 years ago have been executed and feeling simultaneously victorious and also enraged once again remembering the details of the case you read with complete clarity even though it was 7 years ago. It’s my 16 year old sister texting me at 9pm a few weeks ago begging me to please come pick her up because she’s at the bus station and a group of older guys in a car won’t leave her alone and keep telling her to get in and that they’ll take her home, they promise, they just don’t want her to catch the bus alone and her crying in my car when I got to her.

The red pill rage phase about female nature is adorable. Hypergamy is the worst of female nature apparently. Polygyny barely scratches the surface from all the shit that’s piled on to it already.

Women are practical. Traditionally, women married for money and status, not love. They probably weren't happy if a man was siphoning off some of his resources to lavish on strippers, but as long as they and their children were adequately supported, they were willing to turn a blind eye. Evolutionary adaptation as usual. Women have guaranteed parentage of children they give birth to whereas men can never be certain (in a natural environment) unless they have exclusive access to a woman. So a woman doesn't care all that much who is the father of her children as long as there is a man who sticks around to raise them, even if that man is not exclusively hers. For a man, though, investing resources only makes sense if he can be certain that his partner's children are his.

Perhaps I'm missing something basic here... But are you using the relevant terms as defined by dictionaries?

Hypergamy: "Marrying Up" (Doesn't imply female promiscuity, polyamory, or polyandry (female-specific variant of polygamy)
Polygyny: Male-specific variant of polygamy. (Doesn't necessary imply either male promiscuity, or "revolving door" polyamory.)

And I disagree, in principle that any concept involved with polygamy (polygyny/ polyandry) inherently/ intrinsically (read: absent any other knowledge/ awareness) means that any person chosen to be within such a relationship by anyone else "isn't special". The Devil's in the proverbial details as regards such alternative lifestyle paradigms: some people are more open/ casual/ promiscuous than others. It all comes down to extent of both communication and compatibility (in reality/ as ground truth) between those individuals involved in any particular relationship. I don't consider this to be a gender-specific/ -unique thing, either.

Asking because people can tend to view similar terms differently...

[Two/ more people can be in a dialogue using the same terms, yet be completely "talking past each other", even if both are intently listening, because each/ all involved think the same terms mean different things (at least to themselves)...]

I can't even imagine a scenario where it's done with approval...if you only have one partner and you then replace that one partner with a better partner, how is someone going to agree to that? "Hey, I'm done now, go ahead and replace me. You deserve better!".

Love isn't limited. If you are born in a big family it's not like you have exhausted your love and now can't find new love like a best friend.

Its just that women are very content with the current state of affairs when it comes to personal relationships because they get treated like queens for the mere fact that they have a vagina. They live in a world where access to chads has become democratic within the female gender. They can get validated by social media and get dicked with a mere text message or a swipe of a screen in a dating app. From their perspective, why would they give up that kind of adoration and power for some silly and boring things such as real world consequences or long term realities catching up to their present day all of a sudden once they hit a certain age?

Because women are more chill and dont get as quickly or strongly attracted to men as men with women, women usually get attracted to a man over time or to the guy that is in her fantasy book. You dont see women messaging like crazy to a man they met awhile ago, but there are many young boys that do that....makes plenty of choice for women and they also get more socially and quickly experienced. A woman’s deepest desire is to feel special and be “chosen” by a valuable mate.

It’s not the feeling of being chosen that’s fundamentally important to women. Like in the vast majority of sexually reproducing animal species on the planet, the female of Homo Sapiens Sapiens is the mate selector.

Rather it’s the access to the power (utility) of a “valuable” mate which are the fundamentally important thing to women. The “chosen” part is only important to women in that it signals access to the man’s power (utility).

Men worry about being chosen, women worry about access to male power. Hypergamy necessarily implies that a given man may not be chosen at all. Though polygyny does imply that a given woman may have to compete for for a majority of access to the utility of a man she chooses, it does not necessarily imply that a given woman will not have some access to the utility of the man she chooses.

Simply put, women (generally) would much rather share certain access to the utility of a very powerful man than have sole access to the utility of a man who isn’t powerful. We see similar behavior in the majority of sexually reproducing animal species that have complex social structures.

It's also even worse if it's not a free selection system, meaning she may find herself forcefully bound and bred with a mate she knows is unworthy, all without the power to refuse him or get a different partner. It's a perfect solution for a man, and the worst possible one for a woman.

It's because locking down a formerly polygynous (and obviously high-value because he was polygynous) man into marriage is an accomplishment. Marriage then discourages polygyny because a man stands to lose custody of his children and oftentimes much of his wealth.

On the other hand, hypergamy means that a man always has to work to impress his partner. It's a lot of hard work. If she becomes unimpressed, then she branch swings and that's that. Furthermore, many men don't even have enough good qualities to hypergamously impress any women in the first place.
