I was wondering, in addition to TRP beliefs, why isn't politics also discussed as part of the discourse here? Many liberal women won't date a conservative, at least not if they know he is conservative early on. This is my experience on the west coast. Political hostility is also a core problem beyond hypergamy.

For lower class people it's less of a problem but UMC women are mostly liberal.

Went to brunch with my dad. He didn’t want to wait to be seated so we went to like 4 places before we found one without a wait. I have noticed a pattern in which certain women who desperately want to be accepted into mostly male groups like football teams, military units, male clubs etc, and how they respond when they are not given special treatment.

they are so desperate to be treated like "one of the guys" but if you actually treat her like one of the guys. If you give her shit, and haze her, bust her balls, you know treat her the same way you would treat anyone else, she just can't take it, and she cries about it and complains about how "toxically masculine" the culture is, and often goes directly to higher ups to get them to force change upon the original group, so that they can rework everything to fit her delicate sensibilities

they come in as interlopers wanting to be accepted, but they don't like the feeling of being treated like everyone else, and desperately want that special treatment so they force everything to be reworked, destroying the culture of the group that she originally wanted to join

usually by just snitching to higher ups

I've come to realize that psychological advice isn't equally valid for men and women.

Happiness is for women. Not caring about status is for women. Even fun is for women.

Mens lives is not about happiness. It's about problem-solving and seeing how much punches you can take while still being able to move forward. Noone cares about men so there's a need to make something out of themselves.

And I think this is the reason why many men get frustrated with standard psychological advice because it doesn't work for them.

I went for a long walk on the beach with my 12 year old daughter yesterday. She was telling me about her plans for the future. She has a lot -- including living in an apartment with big windows in a big city where it rains and has four seasons (she's not feeling SoCal). Somewhere they have ride share bicycles so she doesn't have to drive to work. Her neighborhood would, of course, need to have several good book stores. She didn't mention kids or relationships once.

She's becoming the type of woman many guys here hate. I'm very proud of her.

I was out with friends of friends yesterday. We live in the DC area and a couple of us had previously lived in Chicago and someone brought up how dating was different in different cities. I (a man) mentioned that Chicago has more men than women and DC has more women than men, and that’s a big factor. One woman said how she’d read that in places (like colleges) where there’s way more women, it’s detrimental because men are less likely to pursue long term relationships. And I said it’s detrimental for men when there’s way more men. She asked how so- at that point somehow the subject changed (I think maybe the waiter came). I would have answered that if there’s way more men, it’s tougher for men to get dates and more end up single, but I was surprised it wasn’t obvious to her.

SEA update:

Been here officially a month now. Have had sex with 11 different women in that time. The frustration ive had left over from western dating has dissipated to some extent. I see the doom and gloom stuff on this sub and often it just seems completely foriegn to me, despite heavily identifying with it not all that long ago.

Of course theres still drama and annoyances, but actually being sexually successful makes things so much more bareable. I think what many people dont seem to understand is, its not just single isolated occurrences that make so many men traumatized and despondent about dating. Its a constant string of failures, mistreatment and reaffirmation that women see you as nothing. Most men would feel far more hopeful if they at least had some extent of intermittent success not spaced so far apart.

When I finish my travels around the world I think I probably will come back to live here long term. Couldnt imagine going back to dating in the west after my time here. Crazy how you can go from being nobody to somebody with just a plane ticket.

Not to say everything has been grand. I definitely wont equate the struggles, but being on the other side of the SMP has also had its negatives as well.

Things feel very mechanical and hollow. In part due to my own choices, but also just inherent to dating as well. More or less, if you check the right boxes, the things you say dont actually matter so much. Not to say game is worthless, but it only allows you to capitalize on your leverage. The more leverage you have, and the more you capatilize on your leverage, the better success you will have. The more leverage you have, the worse your strategy can be while still being able to have success. Game by itself cant do much on its own. You have to "bring the goods" to some extent too.

Think of the difference between some random nobody threatening to sack your city vs Atilla the hun.

Thats really been my experience here. I have such overwhelming leverage, that although strategy, which has been honed through competing in the toughest SMPs on the planet, helps to accumulate more decisive victories, I can mostly win just by on paper superiority and even secure surrenders by posturing alone without even having to fight a single battle. Whereas the random nobody often cannot do anything even with perfect strategy.

You know the trope of the physics nerd, who when you look at the world through his eyes, he sees his surroundings of things in motion as automatically calculated physics equations?

Thats kind of similar to the way ive become with power dynamics. Ive become machiavellianism personified. I dont consider good and evil anymore. I simply consider what is most effective, look for an answer to my problem, and implement it. Regardless of if it hurts someone else. Essentially everything I say to a woman is a calculated response based upon the likelyhood of it most reliably leading to getting sex.

To me now, I see straight through human interaction, especially in the dating world, for what it is. A thinly veiled power struggle. Where much of the "dance" is simply window dressing for determining whether someone is worthy enough for you, and then trying to have them on your terms, often times through conscious or at least subconscious manipulation.

Now I know that is a generalization and oversimplification, and there are people who do not act in such way. That being said, I do think a large portion of people at least subconsciously act manipulative and without nuch regard for their fellow human, despite the way they will try to consciously rationalize it away because it makes them feel icky. I also dont blame men who take this path. If the options are sexlessness/suboptimal sexual success or be cunning and ruthless, a lot of guys are going to choose to be cunning and ruthless.

I know someone will jump on their moral high horse and say "if you cant get the things you want without having upstanding moral character, then you shouldnt have them!". Thats some cute utopian philosophy, but the real world doesnt work that way. When the good path becomes unreasonably hard, and for some impassable, many are going to take an alternative route. Thats just reality. Evolutionary success is not inherently rewarded to those who conform to societal ideals of morality, it is simply rewarded to those who cross the darwinian finish line. Moral goodness is not a requirement for that, and is oftentimes a hindrance.

Mini-update:

I downloaded a new girlfriend experience simulation on my VR headset and WOW!

The quality is so much higher than the clips I use to practice making eye contact. This one is set up as if you're on a dinner date with a woman. It's much more immersive. She makes conversation and pauses at the end of her sentences so you can think of what you would say.

I lived on my own for a year in Texas and was mostly a shut-in. I went to a few bars and traveled around, but day-to-day I was in my apartment working remote. Now I live in the countryside with my folks on the east coast and the average age here is quite old. The town bar has like a 4:1 ratio of guy to girl.

After the recession happens I'll probably move out and since I'm remote I can go anywhere (in the USA).

Dating apps are a more efficient form of cold approaching: more women on the apps that are showing an intent to be approached rather than guessing if someone is single/taken, most men won't feel as demoralized being rejected because it's simply not being swiped on, and the ability to approach (basically swiping and then texting) at any time of day or passively.

That's why I don't understand the logic of "going out to bars" to meet strangers, you're better off optimizing your profile if that's your goal.
