Yes, it’s not their job to go handing out gold stars to men who are really trying. But when men suck is the only sentiment of the movement, there is no encouragement and if anything, the good men are the ones who are actually listening to the complaints men get.

I’m not gonna deny anyone their freedom of speech. You can say men suck all you want, but if you are gonna be passionate about wanting men to improve, you should get involved in different ways. I think positive reinforcement and acknowledgement can go a long way for men who don’t abuse their male privilege, especially if they are cautious of avoiding making people uncomfortable. And the shitty men are going to see the attention the good men get which surely will positively impact at least a few of them.

I’m making this argument because I really do want things to be equal, I think both men and women would benefit from less shitty dudes in the world. I know it’s not my place to tell women how to deal with their oppression, but human to human, it’s hurtful to a lot of the wrong people and I think a lot of guys would agree
