AC is extremely important. It dehumidifies the air to prevent mold, so if you don't wanna get sick/die people should stop complaining.

Another common problem in office building is when people have personal heaters in their space. If you're near a thermostat the AC will blow colder air because you're fucking with the reading.

This is so accurate. I work in an industry in NYC where we as a company are very formal & old fashioned (ties year round were just removed from the dress code). Much of our job requires moving between accounts throughout the day usually traveling by foot or subway. Whenever we would meet up for a drink after work female coworkers would always say “it’s so hot, why don’t you guys take your jackets off?” To which we would always reply that we were drenched through our dress shirts and that the jackets hid it.

I get where these women are coming from but you can always add layers. Men can’t wear sleeveless shirts and sandals like women can in the workplace

Air conditioning is actually very important for buildings as there as several mechanical codes now in force regarding how much outside air these units need to bring into a space to prevent "sick building syndrome". Its also important in the sense that is you live in areas of extreme heat, theae devices are actually considered necessary for safe occupation of a dwelling. In addition, they are also important qhen used as strictly make up air units but this also applies to ac in terms of being able to temper the air (basically, remove humidity from the air) for comfortable occupancy of a space.

If the machines themselves host a deep-rooted hatred of women and the ac itself actually demonatrates this through slurs or hate speech well then thats a whole different issue entirely. Soulless mechanical devices have as much a responsibility to accept others as the rest of us do :)

I work in an office where the sales staff are men in suits and the accounting office are all women. A couple of weeks ago the A/C vents were dripping water and we called the A/c repair guy. After his inspection he said the temperature was set at 74 degrees and we were warned that the building needs to be at the maximum a constant 70 degrees or the A/C will give out(machine is old). I made it a point to have a meeting with everyone and reiterate what we were told and to make sure whoever was cold to bring a jacket or even a blanket if need be. I was very clear about no one touching the thermostat to avoid any damage done to the A/C.....two days ago the A/C went completely out, when I checked the temperature it was back at 74 degrees. When I check the cameras who do I see at the thermostat....two office ladies. When confronted they called a manager and I sexist and insensitive to their “comfort needs”. The owners now have a $15,000 bill, we have no A/C and the office girls blamed the sales staff even tho there is video evidence. They will not be punished because the owners are afraid of a law suit. To me that just tells them they can do what they want and get away with it....

As several others have pointed out, cold temperatures has some effect on your immune system.

Dry air could be a larger culprit though, as that seems to be a pretty decent way of spreading at least viruses easier than in humid air.
