Wow that hits home, just had this with a girl I was seeing for two months and once she sensed I’m into her she pulled the plug. My impression was I was suddenly perceived as more needy and she felt she could do better
[–]YGK321 127 points128 points129 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Yep then when she decides to start pulling away I tried to keep it going which is needy and basically game over
[–][deleted] 50 points51 points52 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Well, girls will always test you to see how much confident and high value you really are. When she pulls away, when she doesn't talk with you, when she seems cold, it's just a sort of game, something girls do unconsciously to test you. If you become needy in that moments that's a red flag for her, you are less attractive and she loses interest. You have to let her be, continue on with what you were doing and make her see that it doesn't really affect you and you are not dependent on her love, affection, happiness, but you are confident from within. Just like teasing. That may explain it. I experienced that the hard way, too.

That may be true. There are women and women. That's why relationships are so difficult. There is no universal response. It might depend on how much pride she has, if you argued, etc. But neediness is never appreciated. You don't want to lose her, but you don't need her. She can see the difference. If the act is authentic and comes from value, you can do anything you want. You can even cry. A strong, manly man won't ever seem weak by crying, but a needy one, yes. It depends on the situation and on the person.

See this is what pisses me off about this dating shit. “Oh don’t do too much of this you might come off as needy” or “don’t do that enough you come off uninterested and she’ll ghost you” “don’t text her too much she’ll get turned off” “don’t text her too little you’ll come off as a fuck boy” fuck dating. All of this physiological testing bs that you gotta past just to even get a chance with a woman
Well, yeah, it's frustrating, but that's how life is. Before you had to learn from experience. Or, anyway, people didn't get married from love. Or anyway, people and men were focused on what they had to do and weren't as needy as they are today. Normally it should be instinctual and you should be ok as you are, but people are not socialized as much as before, and men have lost their identity, fathers are absent, mothers are possessive, and other shit, like the fact that data show people talk in messages, today, more than in face to face interactions. And it got really really hard. It's true. But the MGTAW shit is bs. Dating is one of the main things that make life interesting. And you really learn a lot from dating about people in general, but especially about yourself.
You shouldn't care as much. If you say: "Oh, I shouldn't do this because I'd be needy" or "oh, I should wait 3 hours before responding to her messages to seem busy", you are still needy, just not showing it to her. You shouldn't think about it. You have to be true to yourself and to the girl. If you have the time to respond 24/7 to all of her messages, than the problem is that, not that you respond too fast. You should be busy. Get a hobby, have a passion, an objective, volunteer, grow. That's what girls like, to see that there's a future you both strive for and she can attach to. And for that she's gonna give you pussy, to say it like that. If she's the objective, if you don't have a life, you'll just walk in a circle together. You'll get nowhere.
And that men are not true to themselves and lie and pretend they are something they are not it's another reason relationships don't work. Become the one you are pretending to be.
That's why girls are on earth, to challenge men. Without them men would do nothing. They would just play on the computer and stuff. That's why all those that watch porn are losers (or loserers than they'd have been) - they have free pussy. So they'll just play 10 hours a day on the computer.
My first girlfriend literally stopped me from ruining my life.

you don't have to do fuck all if you don't want to. I do whatever the fuck i want, if the girl im with doesnt like it and she wants to leave that's fine, i'll just find another one. Stop thinking you have to do stuff for women to like you. Just do whatever the fuck you want and live your life.

In my case mine waited till we were married 11 years then she decided she wanted to call it quits and work on herself. And makes me feel like im wrong for trying to save it. Like seriously. Why did she get married and make vows infront of God and everybody only to breakthem? Then leave me here trying to figure out what hapoened or what i did??
[–][deleted] 47 points48 points49 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

she was the one who pursued me, and after the "sex of the century" (her words) she ricocheted somewhere else. we still text, but i don't bring it up anymore for fear of pushing her away entirely, if I have not done so, already. friend of hers said she thinks she might be getting back with her ex. just wish one would disclose the reason in lieu of keeping the other one in the dark. mind fux are underrated!!

I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion. It seems she likely had some type of commitment issue? Romantic relationships can be scary for people. You probably weren’t needy and she probably didn’t see you that way.
[–]Sumpfiger 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You’re probably right. Also I was quite a bit older than her which increased her anxiety to commit. Her “just rediscovering her social life after the pandemic” however was clear code for me how she identified other opportunities and me wanting her made me less attractive in comparison.

that’s an extreme though. i don’t just magically lose feelings for a girl cuz she’s needy. only if i wasn’t that into her. and if that’s your reason you have problems… that’s not love , that’s just being a stick up dumbass, again why want a woman like that

Girls are allowed to have fear of commitment too you know…
Pro tip: you reaction dictates everything. She is probably only panicking and you can still get it right.
Just take some distance. Be a little more “hard to get”. Pull back yourself. If this happens in an actual conversation about having a relationship than just tell her you understand things are moving to fast and say you’ll give her space to figure it out. That you won’t contact her and she can contact you.
9 out of 10 times people will realize what they are losing.
[–][deleted] 3 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link
[–]JCAmsterdam 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
You’re missing the whole point. Fear of commitment is not “not wanting a relationship”, it is the fear of feeling stuck or trapped when you are getting into one.
You act like these people should have themselves completely figured out and exactly know what they want. Newsflash: very few people, especially when we are younger, have their shit figured out. They just panicked.
Of course is this what they “SHOULD” do. But you know… people rarely do what we should in a perfect world.
Also, that first sentence was a joke. As in, usually men have fear of commitment. We are also allowed to have the same fears. - I understand without tone it’s a bit more difficult to get, but did you really feel the need to get into that so seriously?
Perhaps lighten up a bit.
[–][deleted] 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
[–]JCAmsterdam 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Dude, you talk about “really loving someone” as if they are married. We are talking casual hook ups while dating and it turning into something a little more serious. Of course they don’t “really love someone” at that point.
There is never an excuse for hurting someone, but you are not being realistic. You demand that every one out there knows exactly what they want and when they want it. It just doesn’t work that way, people just go with the flow, sometimes they get into something before they realize it. Sometimes it scares them and they need some space, sometimes they just realize then and there that this is not what they want.
That’s just life. You can’t control everything. People get hurt. It happens, and most of the time people probably don’t even ment to hurt you, it just happens.
You better learn to deal with those facts or life will be F’ing hard on you.

Dear gentlemen, let me share a recent discovery. Attachment styles, especially anxious attachment. Many people have it and it's coachable.
[–]countzeroinc 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This exactly. It's definitely worth reading up on attachment styles and learning to recognize how you are coming across. Some women from the start though might just be playing the field, like many men do, and are more interested in a casual FWB situation. In that case once they perceive you want a serious relationship will pull away in the fear that if they proceed the guy is going to get hurt because she's ultimately not planning to commit. A fun FWB suddenly stops being fun once you realize their expectations for the relationship are much higher than you originally thought.

Nope. Reality was that you were never the one for her. You were a placeholder till she found someone better. It’s just the way people who are pretty Iwe work. They have the privilege to keep choosing. So sometimes they choose someone temporarily while they are waiting for the right person.
It could also be that you did something wierd.
Either way, at the end of the day you weren’t compatible so I wouldn’t give it too much thought. Just go back out and try again. Wishing you luck my dude
[–]malevolentnarcissist 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
What are the qualifications for a placeholder? I’m curious because from personal experience why chose to hook up and hang out with me for months, especially if she has options. Is it basically just being “good enough”? Sorry i’m new to this and still figuring it all out
[–]Golilizzy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
For everyone it’s different. Kinda depends on what you can pull. You can tell your a placeholder by if they straight up say they are not looking for marriage. When the mention they are looking for the possibility of having long-term, they actually consider you are marriage marterial. A women worth your time wouldn’t consider marriage or relationships into marriage till age 24/25. I have found those who want to get married younger have insecurities or other issues you don’t want to be involved with but that’s just my personal experience
[–]malevolentnarcissist 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Makes sense. I wonder what it was in my case.
[–]Golilizzy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Nothing to wonder. It was just you. And you should want someone who wants you for you. Now there are things you can do to improve yourself if you don’t like the current version of you.
Knock those four out of the ballpark I’m sure you will find someone. Oh and last
Find yourself and be comfortable alone. Once you do, you won’t find your self anxiously texting them back and they will appreciate the breathing room. There is power in Gaps of communication, it creates a sense of mystery around you as well. Also learn how to make a women orgasm, it’s not hard. Many instructional videos out there. Learn where the Clit is.
Hope this helps.

Thanks that’s great advice! Thank you. I was asking because she was interested and very invested during the beginning and then it waned after about two months. That’s why i was asking what it was, since it was a drastic change and now i feel like i’m not good enough somehow and it’s affecting my dating life
[–]Golilizzy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Nah, she just kept you as a placeholder but acted interested. Remember key words are they are looking for long term with YOU. And they always have the right to get the “ick” and leave you for any reason. So don’t take it personally, just try to learn from it and move on.
Of course. Goodluck G

Thanks man. I just have one more question, it’s something that i haven’t fully grasped yet regarding attraction because i see so many conflicting opinions. How much of her attraction was based on my behavior/confidence vs. my looks? In this particular case her ex-boyfriend wasn’t very attractive, but we did have similar features, and i think that’s why she liked me or used me as a placeholder in the first place. But i’m a pretty good looking guy according to women i’ve dated and just random comments/interest i’ve gotten. So i’m trying to figure out what to learn and improve on, because some of the guys women have left me for when i’ve been a placeholder weren’t necessarily more of a catch or more interesting than me, and how much does having game come into play here? Could you go from a placeholder to someone they see themselves with long term?
[–]Golilizzy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Forget her. You are once again thinking of her and framing YOUR life goals around HER. Don’t work on yourself to get her back. It will immediately come across as desperate to not just her but very other person you meet. If you are building yourself up, you are doing it for YOU.
1000000000% confidence over looks. I mean let be honest, Danny Devito is not an attractive man by conventional standards yet there are millions of women who’d be happy with him because he has SWAGGER aka BIG DICK ENERGY. you don’t need a big dick for it all all, just the confidence that you can satisfy any women you are with. It’s all in subtly of it. Subtle smiles, making eye contact but avoiding them till you feel their eyes burning on your neck so u maybeee give them a side look back, etc. If you are attractive and have been told that by women, you are already leagues ahead of millions of men or maybe even billions.
Right now, just based on your line of questioning I can tell you are incredibly insecure right now. If I was to guess, your under the age of 25. Your frontal cortex won’t fully develop till then so it may be hard to fully grasp what you need to work on but doesn’t mean it’s impossible. If you are over 25, then it’s just a matter of helping shift your perspective. To do that follow this:
Go to your mirror and observe your face. Look at your features. You obviously have been told your attractive, find those attractive features and focus on that. It’s a way to trick your mind into POSTIVE thining about yourself.
As I mentioned before Desperstion
When talking to anyone, not even just girls, don’t act desperate. For example, If you are part of a group of people and they are doing an activity you don’t like, don’t be desperate and follow them for fear of missing out. Go do what you want and carve your path out. People will immediately notice, and some may even follow. And just like that you shifted the group dynamic and moved yourself into a position of power within it. If new women approach the group, you are noticed as well. The confidence of breaking away is huge but I won’t say it’s easy. You have to be comfortable being uncomfortable.
Observe how I’m responding to you. I ignore the points I don’t see value in but provide insights into what I think are applicable. Am I an expert? By no means at all. But here I am in a position of providing information making me techinally a leader and you a follower. Again, that’s not a bad thing, I myself am a follower of many things, like for example religion or school teachings. But what I’m trying highlight is the power of “gaps” as I mentioned before. By not outright answering everything, I leave room for you to fill in the gaps. And that engages the conversation or thought proccess further.
Another good example of gaps in everyday life are cliff hangers at the end of chapters. That’s what makes you start the next one right? In the same way, try to incorporate the concept of “cliff hangers” in your actions and sentences. Leave people wondering for more without not providing the information they were looking for.
I’m not sure if this concept is considered manipulative or something but frankly I just see it as a way to stay more private. I personally don’t like sharing much about myself with many people. Maybe cuz I have had jaded experiences but nonetheless I like it.
You gotta have a tight trust circle tho. You shouldn’t alienate everyone or act mysterious to everyone. I mean those who just come in go in your days which technically includes ladies you’d date or meet at places.
Last but not least, it is really important to have a strong sexual game. That means learning how to kiss, use toys such as vibrators and properly eat & finger a pussy. There is a great videos mentioned in top posts of this subreddit that you should observe. If you fuck her good, she will brag to her friends and that my friend is the first step to becoming a successful confident man. Because now all her friends eyes will be on you at the next party and the women walking by your table will ABSOLUTELY notice. They have a sixth sense for it I swear to god lol
Hope this helps! Sorry if I come across rude or condescending anywhere, I’m just typing this on my phone and not really grammatically proofreading it

[–]Blackiechan2000 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Maybe it’s true to you up on that pedestal, but you can’t really believe that. Maybe your angry feelings come from that, believing you’re so much better than her, so it should be easy. But if she’s pulling away maybe that’s making you question yourself.
Sorry man but people can always do better. People that say stuff like what you said usually tell that to women to manipulate them into thinking they can’t do better so they stay. That’s toxic. Y’all should both move on.

[–]austinrose7 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When she pulls away, it’s a test. The way to pass the test is to be unreactive and act like you don’t give a shit (even if you have to fake it lol, but you should have enough options so you don’t have to fake it).
Then she’ll realize, “Oh shit, this guy’s actually high-value and will be seeing another girl soon if I let him go, okay time to really commit to him.”
Keep in mind this all happens on a subconscious level.
[–]FiftyNereids 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I like how the natural assumption is always it’s the man’s fault because he’s doing something wrong. I’m telling you girls today aren’t like girls 50 years ago at all. The social dynamic has changed completely because of the culture and feminism.
What you end up with are girls who are perceived as “high value” but think of what they actually do to be that? Literally nothing. Guys are perceived as high value if they worked their asses off and establish high competence which takes decades sometimes. For high value women they simply just need to be born.
The issue is these chicks have abundance, too much of it and many don’t want to settle because they can be with another guy every weekend. And all they need to do is spread their legs to get any form of male attention. The sexual revolution made dating way harder than it needs to be because now girls are culturally incentivized to rotate a new man every weekend and establish hundreds of new safety nets so they will never feel like she is short of options.
Have men gotten more week since the 50s? Yes that’s definitely a contributing factor, however western women’s expectations have also increased and with a culture that promotes endless promiscuity why would any woman settle down with a man?
[–]malevolentnarcissist 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’ve been in this situation many times and people have told me it’s basically because they weren’t attracted to you or like you. But it’s confusing because why spend all that time with me and sleep with me. And i’m having trouble understanding if they were just kinda lukewarm from the start and nothing could have changed that or the needy/unconfident behavior caused them to lose attraction. Sometimes i feel like could’ve just basically been any random dude that showed interest in her and she used it to pass the time until she found someone she actually likes

Yep. Basically most of thinking about it is neurosis brought on by the emotional rejection of being turned down by someone because you were just more into them, than vice versa. Sometimes it just sucks and that's life. Learning to move on in a healthy manner, without bitterness, would probably be a better way to spend your time, rather than trying to find some reason or meaning in someone just not being that into you.

I need some sage advice from you my man, in my case I am the one who felt she was moving so fast. On our fourth date she asked me if I saw a future with her, I managed to say "I can't say right now".
On our seventh date (like 3 months in) she told me, "you will leave me once you realize you are better than me or your parents will make you marry someone from your religion and you aren't gonna stay with me if that happens."
Now the thing is, I am from India and she is American to me it feels like she is moving really fast. Also she is 2 years older than me and I am 27. Ngl, it was my first real relationship and I really really liked her but I was skeptical about ultimately marrying someone from the US, I know I am going to get down voted to hell for this but I think Americans are spontaneous creatures and won't think twice (or say thrice) before divorcing you.
We actually broke up 3 weeks ago because of how rushed I felt and I wasn't ready to commit to her just because I had doubts about her and her family.
Here are the concerns I had with her and I need your advice on them, please tell me if I am thinking too much:
Her parents are divorced and she and her siblings haven't talked to them in 6 years. I can deal with this I don't care about her parents at all, all I want is her, but there is history of divorce in the family and this just got me concerned.
She dated someone from her sister's In-laws family for 2 years who was 10 years older than her and I will have to see the guy all the time during family meetups which I think I can deal with but I think it will be a bit weird for me.
Because of this 2 years age difference between me and her when she asked me if I saw a future with her I felt like she is desperate and would marry anyone at this point. She told me her friends are getting old as well and she said one day that she's a hopeless romantic and she's the one who gets left behind always. She also mentioned women can't have babies easily after 35. All of these things really got me concerned.
Also since we are in seduction sub, her body count is way more than mine. Not going to lie she was my first.
Other than these she had no issues whatsoever, she and her were like made for each other couple with so much in common and we would have lived a happy life together if I didn't have these concerns.
I am thinking to hit her back again in a month from now and try to get back together with her. I think all these issues are common and are just cultural difference that I need to cope with it I really love her and I am ready to do so, I think she could be the one.
I need some sense beaten into me and sage advice I would really appreciate it my dude.
Tldr: I broke up with my girlfriend of 5 months (whom I loved so much) because I thought she was moving so fast and she had a concerning history. Now 3 weeks after breakup I am thinking to get back together with her. Is this a good idea?

Own what happened and move on. Don't recycle, chin up and start something new with someone new, trust me it'll be easier than ruining your life over your first love, the quicker you realize that then better! Good luck

Uhhhhb you broke up now you wanna get back together???
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Don't worry, I understand your POV on American women, I'll keep my opinion about them to myself but I see why you feel that way and I also see why she was rushing.
She is 29, she is likely thinking about her biological clock and might feel like time is ticking, and sounds like she has low self esteem since she has mentioned you being "better than her" or the fact that your family might not accept her and prefer you marry someone with your background. This is confirmed by your reason number 3 regarding her thinking about her biological clock since she mentioned her friends getting older and not having babies after 35.
Your concerns are valid concerns, from 1 through 4.
I would be a bit skeptical too about being estranged from your own parents, that negative family dynamic can manifest in the relationship. Plus her rushing wouldnt make me feel confident that she is looking for a future with me for the right reasons (like loving me, feeling like I am the one she wants to really spend her life with) and instead it seemed like it was motivated from her fear of being alone and not having kids.
I understand she is your first and you may love her, but I'll be very cold and honest. It's only 5 months. You haven't really gotten to know this woman well enough to say you know her well enough to commit to her. A person can hide who they really are in the from the first 6 months to year. It's too early to say if she is truly a good person for you or just a good person to commit to in general. Plus not to mention there is a lot of baggage there with reason number 1, 2, and 4. Number 1 could become drama, same with number 2. Number 4 can become a problem if it down the line it bothers you that she has had many more partners than you and that can cause problem. Though, if you have only been with one person, can you really say you know what you truly like with just your first experience?
It seems like you're thinking of getting back together with her because you're coming from a scarced mindset. You've only been with one woman, and maybe you might feel like you wont meet any other. The problem is, if you go back together, those issues that caused the break up are still here and they were never resolved. So what would be the point of coming back other than you feeling like you don't have another option.
It's important you try to talk to as many women as you can and feel confident enough in yourself that you can find another because if you keep that mindset that this is the only one you can get, you might walk into something that might not be good for you in the longterm. You never want to commit to someone half hearted or if you have doubts. Now I don't want you to think the person you commit to has to be perfect, but rather she has to be a good fit for you. The flaws she might have are things you can live with because face it, no one is perfect. I personally don't think it's a good idea to go back with those problems not being resolved and you're better off meeting new people. Always have the mentality that if you manage to do it once before, you can do it again. Just don't give into the scaricity mindset, it can cause more harm than good
[–]throwawayrelation_ 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thank you for the elaborate answer.
You are absolutely right about the scarcity mindset. I am sure I will find another girl some day but for me the whole experience was like a fairy tale. We never fought, we looked so good together, she was a bigger nerd than me, we played video games together, watched movies together, grew up watching the same shows, we loved the most obscure stuff. The most important thing was she loved me and saw huge potential in me even when I am just a student over here, she loved me even when I had no money and nothing but love to offer (instead I treated her with doubts and fear of my parents). I currently feel like if I go back to India and my parents find some girl in my cast and get me arranged to her then I would never be happy as I was in these 5 months.
I understand things could even turn out better with the arranged marriage but I have doubts about it too because I see my friends back in India getting married to random girls they met on some matrimony site 3 months ago and their "Kundalis" matched and now they are married. Two total strangers now gotta wake up next to each other for the rest of their lives.
On the other hand she wasn't asking me to get married right away, we would have dated 2-3 years and then we would have thought about kids and marriage. But for us Indians isn't commiting to someone at this point (when I am 27) ultimately a promise that we would get married one day?
I know I am rambling at this point but I really do think you make a lot of sense and I need sage advice before I do something stupid. I am afraid if I commit to her and waste like 1-2 years of her life and couldn't marry her because my parents said so and my doubts about her aren't cleared then I would really feel guilty of wasting her time and I probably won't be able to live with myself knowing I had someone who truly loved me and I gave her up to get arranged to some random girl.
I know time heals all the wounds she will find some american guy who would commit to her and I would get arranged (since I am nearing the age and all my friends are already married and I didn't get married yet because I escaped to the US to get my master's) but to me it feels like such a lost opportunity to be happy with someone who actually loves me for who I am and not for what I make and what caste I am from.
And I feel like I am not mature enough to make a decision like this, I know it should be my say in the end who I want to be with but I am afraid my parents would stop talking to me or not ask for my help if they needed it if they find her background not fitting for their only son(I have 2 elder sisters who are settled abroad as well, my parents are the only ones in India), they are old and I want to be there when they need me but on the other hand I want to be happy as well.
Again, I do really really appreciate what you wrote above.

I think it’s best to leave her be because you have so many reservations about marrying her. Let her find the man who is crazy about her. She is worried about time and you’ll just waste her time. Just let her move on because you clearly don’t like her.

This is when you're already dating a girl. You don't push out the relationship vibes, since bonding and wanting a relationship is a feminine trait, instead you just focus on having a good time and not forcing things to happen. While you're dating her, just focus on what mentioned above, hang out, have fun, hook up. When she becomes emotionally invested in you, she will let you know she wants to be in a relationship. Generally she will ask, "where this is going?", "what are we?" Or something along the lines to that or hinting about being together. You should be sure that is what she is asking, always ask, "what do you mean?" So she can reassure you that she wants to be exclusive. Then you can make it official.
Women select the men they want to be with, and when a girl really likes you, she will make it easy for you to move to the next step

Both should be upfront with what they're looking for and what their goals are.
Some people are just for the streets.
Vet everyone you date, make sure you're on the same level before you waste months of your life on someone.
Raise those standards, don't give indecisive and unavailable people access to you.
[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is a fairy tale. You don't know what you want. You know what you think you want. I'm sure you've experienced wanting something, getting it, and then no longer wanting it. I think you can have a guidepost like "I'd like to get married some day" but hard and fast goals I think aren't useful.
[–]macroxela 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For some people, you're right. But those usually tend to be the ones who haven't explored themselves enough. It requires a high level of self-awareness that very few people have. Rare but not a fairy tale.

Girls don’t often know what they want. They say one thing and then do another. Then they wonder why guys are always insecure. Because we have no idea what your true intentions are lol
[–]peduxe 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
it’s easy to navigate that dilemma once you understand that you need to judge actions, not words.
going from words to action is a long journey one needs to take.

Guys too dude. It’s more like young people with options don’t know if they wanna cash in on one of them yet.
[–]ice_jj 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
You’re not wrong. But in my experience plenty of men struggle to have options. Women don’t have this issue, men will usually come up to them.
[–]happysad45 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
i’m a decently attractive woman and i literally never ever have men come up to me EVER. let alone my less attractive friends, some have never been able to get a boyfriend or have anyone interested in them. men think of all women as the 1% amazingly beautiful woman who has massive attention, it’s just not true. the majority of us are not that and do not have all of these “options” men seem to think we have. women have this exact same issue. I literally never get attention, and when I do, I don’t know their intentions at all either.

In my experience, it’s better to make them wait on you and go at their pace. You can go too slow, but when you are feeling it, hold off for a while. It will, in fact, drive them crazy.
[–]ShootzyCollinz 88 points89 points90 points 3 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
Women generally want what they can't have. They enjoy the pursuit. Once they know you're theirs it's not fun anymore. They have a love/hate relationship with the concept of competition anxiety. The idea that they're fighting other women for your attention is subconsciously appealing to them. And once this stress is removed, they no longer feel like they're competing for a prize, ie your attention.
Couple this with the notion that most guys catch feelings around month 3 and women tend to take 6+ months to really catch feelings and it becomes apparent that the emotional playing field isn't level. As a man, you should wait for a woman to bring up feelings and commitment first, and not be too eager to dive in once the idea is brought up.
These are of course generalities and not applicable to all women or situations.

literally none of this is true, like you can replace the word women with men here and it would seem just as true. people ALWAYS say men love the chase. and that women catch feelings fast. i feel like you’ve just made up a narrative about women that fits into your experience. women absolutely do not take 6+ months to “catch feelings” idk where you even get that idea from.
[–]ShootzyCollinz 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You can Google the average time it takes either sex to fall in love. Most sources will say men take approximately 90 days and women 140. I've read literature that says approximately 6 months for women.
As for the rest, several forums and books will say the same thing. And it tends to be true in my personal experience. Furthermore, pretty much all dating advice comes from personal experience or the collective experiences of others. That's literally why r/Seduction exists.

Doing it this way ALSO prevents future girlfriends telling you “you wanted me to be your girlfriend so deal with it” type shit when you tell her something you don’t like.

this thread is so weird. “manipulate her so you have the power in the relationship. don’t pursue her. make her embarrass herself when she inevitably has to tell all her friends and family she had to ask you to be together and be the leader i. the relationship. give her the most unromantic, uninteresting start to your relationship, so she always questions if u even like her at all, that’ll sure make it last.” this won’t work fellas. and if it does i feel really bad for those women
[–]Plenty_Software4415 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Sorry but honestly a women’s advice on how to handle women is a sure way to either stay single or be friend zoned. As men, we date women on a consistent basis and through time and experience I’ve found this method to be the best. it doesn’t hurt her as the guy will still be asking her at the end of the day and it’ll be as romantic as it should be to sweep her off her feet and tell her friends.
I know it probably upset your feelings and my first sentence in this reply might strike another nerve. However this is literally from years and years of experience. Something you simply don’t have, your sole experience with women is being their friend, not romantic partner. Even if your lesbian, women-women relationships don’t follow the same guidelines as men-women relationships as your both the same gender.
[–]happysad45 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
bro you want to be asked out, sounds like you want to be someone’s girlfriend lmao. kinda wild to think actual women don’t know what women want😂😂 but men who have 0 experience actually being a woman somehow know what women want lmao. you think you know but you are just making assumptions & writing your own narrative, you have no actual idea. every single woman i know would cut off a man who shows no interest in taking initiative to commit. i’ve done it many times and so have all the women i know. do you think women want to propose to a man too?😂 you want her down on her knee?😂 it’s laughable. also relationships aren’t a power game, they are a partnership (coming from someone who actually has a successful long term partnership with a man who wasn’t a pansy, showed interest and didn’t make me ask him out😂)! good luck buddy! & maybe listen to those over at r/marriage since u need the help💀

Lmfao yeah if ima try to hunt a gazelle ima go ask the lions as that’s all they do. A gazelle has no idea how to hunt a gazelle all they know is how to be one. BIG difference
and no, this thread said SHE needs to ask HIM. so it won’t be romantic, it’ll be pathetic. Anyone who has “years and years” of experience dating women clearly is not good at dating women because if you were you wouldn’t still be dating years and years later.
Why you so bitter and focused on other peoples lives lol. why would I not be dating still 😂 Getting different women is literally in a man’s dna. Being in a marriage is what kills them. Just go look at the AskMen: marriage section and you’ll see
[–]ProductivityMonster 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
excellent post. This is why you don't bring up relationships first with a woman. Just treat her as a fuck buddy until then. What she says before you are official means absolutely nothing and she'll change her mind in an instant. Watch her actions, not her words. This is basically just women using men for attention/commitment and as soon as they get it they leave. It's the same idea as men dumping a woman right after they have sex with her. It's a very narcissistic way to get validation that she is attractive without any regard for the other person.
EDIT: You can often filter out these women by looking for CONSISTENT RECIPROCATION AND INITATION of dates, sex, conversations, etc. Typically, they're very hot and cold so they clearly fail the consistent part. It's hard to be consistent when she's dating multiple other guys or she feels very ambivalent/indecisive about you (and doesn't want to invest that much time/energy in you or it has to be on her terms).
[–]happysad45 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
this is fucking disgusting. no woman wants to be with a man like you, or any man who treats her like a fuck buddy and doesn’t pursue her. weird and twisted logic.
[–]ozzzy83 20 points21 points22 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The thing is, they must invest more than you, especially at the beginning. If you confess your emotions first, you're done, no challenge, or anything. They must wonder if you want more with them, not the other way around! They want to experience a wide range of emotions, and by serving yourself on a silver platter, they cannot feel what they need.

The female mating strategy involves getting as much attention from men as possible and winning their hearts over.
Once they manage to capture a man's heart, the fun is over for them, so they look for someone else.
It's basically the same thing when a guy gets tired of having sex with one woman and now wants to have sex with another one.
This is why telling young girls "I love you" is romantic suicide. Real love involves having a family together and raising kids. You can say "I love you" as much as you want when you're married - but if you're not, avoid it.
Remember: Young girls all believe that "all men" just like sleeping around with different women. It's "all men" to them because the men who *don't* do this are invisible to them - and not targets of female sexual interest. And the only part that upsets women about men's ability to sleep around is that they just can't get those guys to fall in love with them! Boo hoo! :D

You punk'd yourself.
"You lost me at female" followed by "is the exact scenario many women have complained about".
Good grief. And clearly people DO use the word "hermaphrodite" because I did, and I learnt it in a dictionary - written and vetted by many other people. That invalidates your claim from the get go.
Logic's not your strong point. But then if you get men and women confused, how could it be?
[–]Consistent_Leading51 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I said ‘you lost me at female’ because you mostly used ‘female’ for women and then used ‘men’ for men. I guess it wasn’t clear to you that the problem I had was the fact that it’s dehumanizing. I don’t know how how this turned to some unnecessary argument you think you’re having with me about gender. I know the difference between a man and woman and when I’m talking about human beings, I only use those terms to describe men and women. You really shouldn’t use the word hermaphrodite though. The better term is intersex and has been for a while now. Lastly, I don’t really need to defend my mental capacity/emotional stability, so if it makes you feel better to call me illogical, have at it. Take care ☺️

Tbh… you need to have options. Like literally at least 3 girls at the same time. If you had sex with any of them, even better! Seriously, its a constant relaxing fact that you don’t need to try so hard cuz your good either way this turns out, so just enjoy the time. Which ever girl you saw promise in, go with her. If you didn’t like any of them, screw them (figuratively and hopefully literally lol) and get a new batch of women.
I know this is all way easier said than done. But it is your answer in the fastest way. Another way is some DEEP self love and therapy that’ll take about a year or usually more to actually be helpful. Whole time you’ll probably be sinking deeper and deeper in the pit of neediness due to consistent lack of attention/love so a longer time is usual.
Also, back to the first point. it does really help if you had sex with any of those girls or you may act needy to all three or however many girls simply because if you struck out on all of them that’d sting the self-esteem quite a bit, so the neediness will come out due to scarcity and literal neediness.

Cause there fucking crazy. But who isn’t. They want to feel wanted in all areas of life and having people that will put you first without a label they want. If you take away what they want in the relationship then your fucked. And damn if you can figure out what girl actually wants then good for you brother. It’s a bitch I know. I had a girl do it to me twice. My dumb ass believed her again. I mean She did go through more for my attention then is at all Normal. so the fact she left after putting in work twice just makes my mind run. There a mystery. But they really need to understand what an alpha is vs a beta what a rare find is vs an everyday. Even then who knows. You even get in there way of what makes them think there them or what they like about what they have and they think they can just set it up and get it again. Like we don’t have feeling.

She belongs to the streets.
Read about attachment styles. It’s not just women, it’s just the women you’ve been conditioned to be attached to. It’s part of an evolutionary process in your brain that hardwired you as a baby to behave in a way that reflects whatever is going to get you the most security from a parent. So if you had a shitty avoidant mom who was uncomfortable with you needing love and affection as a baby, you are likely to seek out love and then once you believe it’s real, you become very uncomfortable because you associate needing love and security with being rejected by your shitty caregiver as a baby. This chemically gets hardwired into your brain as a survival mechanism. It is conditioned /compounded by friendships and relationships. So maybe you had somewhat avoidant parents and then you date really avoidant people, they condition you into being ashamed to expect love and security, so you adapt to get whatever you can get. There is a way out of these patterns with awareness, self education and mental health support. If people learned about attachment styles, it would seriously solve like 80% of relationship issues. Once you understand it, it makes the world look like a bunch blind people doing puzzles and yelling at each other. It’s so enlightening!

Are you here for relationship advice or confirmation bias. What she did was horrible, but to be clear, it not exclusive to women. Women constantly complain about the same scenario. If this is happening to you often, you’re going to need to figures how recognize red flags and set some boundaries.
In wouldn’t assume anything when it comes to relationships. It’s better to just state that you would prefer to be in a relationship with them early on. The earlier you do that, the sooner you will know if they want the same thing so it doesn’t cause such heartbreak. No one should string anyone along and hurt people lilies this,?but unfortunately we are also not entitled to people liking us back no matter how much we like them. I wish you a speedy recovery and luck with love in the future. Take care!

Guys do this too.
If they're too tier Men. Right? This feels like a privilege that only the most appealing can do. Mainly heard about it online, tho. IDK, you tell me.
I never even dated, or secured a relationship yet. But, really don't want to experience this, for sure.... So Yeah
[–]morechris 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, neither do I. I just don’t really give anyone a chance to come close or go out with me, or even get a piece, and will fizz them out through the talking stages and not let them get a thing until I’m for sure they aren’t going to just leave. It’s really unhealthy though, not the most ideal way to go about things. Probably will be alone forever. Lmao.

Send one message telling her how you feel and what your intentions are. If she doesn’t reciprocate, just walk away. She thinks she has you in her pocket so she’s going to go look at other options thinking you’ll be there if she fails.

Same happened to me as well…We (me 26M & she 27F) were too close, hanging out together most times. She was giving all kinds of signals.

Never be the one bringing up relationships, asking HER to be your girlfriend. If you do that there is no foundation set. She must come to you for that. Show she isn't your world. Show you are still going out to the bar with the boys or whatever, she will think you're still getting girls' attention and will want to lock you down at that point.
[–]bigfatuglychick 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, it’s a situationship or FWB. She is emotionally unavailable and doesn’t want a real true relationship. The short term, honeymoon fling time is what she’s here to enjoy. Once you try to make it serious, it’s not fun and light anymore thus why she bailed. Her emotions are not involved in this—no matter how many intimate conversations, marathons of sex, countless dates, casual hangouts, etc—so once yours are, it has to end.

[–]CanUnusual8729 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s not just girls, people do this. I agree it’s an attachment style that is especially common in the west. It stems from childhood having a parent that was emotionally volatile. Not necessarily abusive per se, but just self-centered, inconsistent. When a child has a parent that is loving at times and then emotionally distant other times, the child learns that the most valuable love is a challenge. They feel like they have to earn it somehow. So when that child grows up, they get stuck in this contradiction where they don’t value affection that comes without a challenge. So unfortunately, they miss out on someone who may have been good for them. And then the people they feel most attracted to are similar to that parent, emotionally unavailable, less interested than they are. Always just out of reach. They crave that emotional chaos of uncertainty, which sadly, often leads to failed attempts at relationships or outright rejection from the person who was more of a challenge, which then confirms their understanding of love, further perpetuating that cycle.

Relationship implies two things:
Letting go of other options
Responsibility
A woman might want to have fun with you without wanting these.
We were taught that it's usually the men who want to fuck around while women want to tie men down and be stable. But it isn't like that. It may in fact be the opposite in today's world as women have way more options than men.
[–]bennie_thejet30 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Never ask a women for a relationship. Just have fun and let it take it’s natural course. You’ll know when they’re ready.
[–]Illustrious-Cat7767 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's called an Avoidant attachment style. Routing from some form of fucked up childhood trauma usually (or a pattern of them), and that's how they react when things start to get serious. They 'love bomb' you first, usually very early in a relationship, then flea when its reciprocated. Of course, it's not that black and white, but it explains a lot. Look it up, you will find plenty of stuff online. There are even subs here for attachment theory.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
you failed the final test. relationships should always be the woman's job to bring up. When the man does it, it comes out of neediness...there are exceptions to the rule but usually this is how it goes.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The explanation behind the thought process is that a man of many resources and avenues needs to be convinced in order to settle because settling is a sacrifice for him. If a man jumps into doing this sacrifice without convincing, it must mean he isn't very rich in resources (money, career, friends, women) and is desperate to retain whatever he has. When a man initiates a relationship its a decision that is mainly driven out of fear and scarcity. A man shouldn't be afraid of losing a woman, a friend, money or a job. He should embrace defeat with confidence, which means that he believes he will be able to deal with whatever hardships comes his way (win or lose). A man doesn't sacrifice his beliefs to satisfy others. Entering a relationship means that you as a man are making a sacrifice to many of your goals...you sacrifice time, attention, women and possible advancement in your career.

I've done this and I've had this done to me. It comes down to thinking you know what you want until you realize you don't want what you thought you wanted. You don't realize you don't want what you thought you wanted until you get what you thought you wanted. Then when you get it, you realize you never wanted it and you ghost instead of explaining the confusing feeling you're having because you don't feel as close to the person you thought you wanted when you realize you don't want them that much.
It's just that easy!!!

As a woman that has done this I can tell you exactly why - she enjoys your company but she's either emotionally unavailable or can't see herself in a real long-term relationship with you, usually because the spark isn't quite there. If I can't see myself in a relationship with someone and the "what are we" conversion comes up, I'll suddenly be hit with the realization that I need to pull the plug now before anyone gets hurt.
[–]cronasminate 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's often due to past trauma. Some run away at the first sign of commitment and they freak out because they associate the pattern of getting closer with a very traumatizing experience in their past, so they decide to never really open themselves up to being vulnerable.
Some women with this issue, like to be able to express it, so they get the benefit of being love-dovey without triggering their commitment fears. Once the guy shows it too, it becomes too much and their guards go up.

[–]zisehuar 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What?? I never heard of this. I'm very sorry to hear that. I was convinced that this is a problem mostly women have with men, the other way around. That's crazy. You don't deserve that, no one does. Gosh I wish people would do more life coaching. I think the women who do that have been treated that exact way and are terrified to get hurt, so they are trying to keep some distance. Or, maybe you're too much of a sweetheart, but that's pure assumption. I know that when men are too buddy-ish they lose that manly attraction. Maybe the male-female balance is off. Again, just an alternative possibility to consider. Stay kind but gentleman, not buddy.
Girls usually are the emotional ones in the relationship. This causes problems for them sometimes because emotions often trick people into doing or saying things they don’t actually mean. There are countless examples of this, where a person will say or do something because it “feels right”. It’s why partners cheat, and why people hookup.
I believe this is female nature at its core, and why you’ll find that women are naturally attracted to men who are “grounded” and not really sensitive to their emotions. In fact, guys who know how to trigger their emotions are the ones who have the most success with women.
Just by reading the tone of your post, you seemed to let emotions get the best of you. There’s nothing wrong with that so to speak, as vulnerability is very important in meaningful relationships, but it was probably misplaced in the relationship you had with her.

Yikes. Literally going through this myself. Met a girl, clicked so insanely well, we got super serious and just amazing and full of passion, then she tells me a couple of weeks that she's overwhelmed by stuff in her life right now and that she needs to take a break. Its kind of weird because we still talk multiple times a day, and a lot of it feels the same as before, but she just mentions every once in a while that she's not ready for a relationship. Why couldn't she have told me that before I fell head over hills in love with?

[–]cobraCL 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
God, this happened to me with the guy I gave my virginity to. 😂 Confusion was probably the least bad thing I felt.
Modern dating is complicated because many or most people date to see where the "vibe" takes them as opposed to being relationship-minded from the get go.
With that being said, we need to take accountability for screening partners better and establishing intent early. Because I faced similar issues to what you have, I had to understand that I was the common denominator in all of those dynamics.
Suggestions: Look into Attachment Theory, I cannot reccomend it enough. Those with anxious-leaning attachment styles consistently pick emotionally available and Avoidant partners (basically, people who attach freely UNTIL any mention of commitment comes up, after which they destroy whatever makes them feel "engulfed".) APs are drawn to these people like moths to flames because they subconsciously affirm our fears that we will be left or abandoned anyway. So, partners are picked who are flighty, volatile, and constantly have to be chased to get a desired level of intimacy and connection.
Work on that. All the best!

Not all girls do this, SOME do. With the girls who tend to do this (because they’re afraid of commitment) just continue having fun with them and don’t act all lovey-dovey and wait until THEY broach the subject of being exclusive and in a relationship.
Some might even never broach this subject but you will end up in a relationship with them sooner or later if you just continue with things as they are and if things are going great. Then it will naturally transition into a relationship as things progress. Because some PEOPLE are afraid of the label/subject of exclusivity itself. Both men and women do this.

Men are in control of the relationship, women are in control of sex. You need to sneak it in once in awhile, like make romantic gestures of future planning. See a cute dog and she likes that dog, say we’re going to have a dog just like that (insert fantasy) but with a different colour fur and we’re going to teach him how to (add a trick or a way to help in a shared hobby like singing) sing with us, make a joke about him howling to one of your guys favourite songs and imitate it for her etc. she will be thinking of her future with you. Then you don’t bring it up again until she confirms or retorts to your gesture. If it doesn’t happen, create more value in her life and give her space at the same time. Then when she starts to be needy to you, do the fantasy thing again. Rinse and repeat. Women eat and breathe romantic fantasy. -Woman with serious game

She doesn’t like you in a way that blends your futures and lives. She likes you enough to give you her spare time. She likes to hang out and cuddle and talk. She likes you. She doesn’t want to have a future with you, she’s just comfortable and having a good time right now. Like really good intimate friends. Those things can both be true. In the future you can tell partners you are not into ‘seeing what happens’ you like to know for certain after a few weeks if you guys are both on the same page as far as feelings. It’s really shitty of them to play relationship without the actual commitment but if it wasn’t discussed that that isn’t ok, it’s what happens sometimes. I’ve dated for play and for serious. No, I didn’t like the guy enough to date him for reals. Our lives were too different and it was never my intention. Wee didn’t have that conversation tho so he accused me of leading him on and I accused him of assuming and not reading the room. Communicate. In this case, this girl didn’t need to get into the while you’re going to fast thing, that’s stupid, she was there. God luck

Why Acting Disinterested or even Disqualifying Yourself can Create Attraction. This is the inversion of your question, but the answer is the same.
Date older women. This is less of an issue as women get older. Younger women don't know what the fuck they're doing.

Dude this is all on you, she didn’t do anything, she didn’t MAKE you fall in love, your expectations and attachment made you feel the way you felt…the reason she was acting like y’all were in a relationship was because YOU lead with that kind of energy..you move too fast, you gotta slow it way down cause I feel like you met this girl within the last few months…subconsciously they don’t want you to want a relationship more than they want it, let her come to you about the relationship, don’t bring it up yourself..take some accountability and realize that things are the way they are because of YOU, you’re the common denominator in these situations.

Lot of potential reasons
Sometimes in truth they feel inadequate or undeserving of love
[–]caesarfecit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is actually why seduction gets a bad rap because this is a human nature problem.
People want all the benefits of an intimate relationship, whether they're consciously aware of it or not, and avoid the strings attached. And if you allow people to do that, they often will.
You'll hear this exact same story out of women who start hooking up with a guy, he starts treating her like a GF, she catches feels, he bounces.
This is why my rule is to never lie or hold out when it comes to how I feel about her, but play your cards very close to the chest when it comes to intentions.
This is especially true when it comes to hooking up with a girl. You can get away with outrageously hitting on her, so long as you keep intention out of it and have a playful, non-needy frame. Then you're just spitballing and she can take as seriously as she wants to.
But if you withhold that desire, that attraction, then there's nothing for to chase, and she'll be even more suspicious about your intentions, or start feeling used/manipulated.
Many of them still feel like they can hoe around so they don't want to settle.
[–]Maloria9 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I see a lot of stories from women about men doing the same things. It’s a people problem, not a gender problem. Some people are afraid of commitment, some people don’t trust others. Others want the freedom of being able to mess around with other people while getting relationship treatment from one or maybe even two people. Basically a “why settle when you can have everything you want for a fraction of the price?” People of all kinds do this type of stuff, and it sucks. It sucks seeing both men and women suffer from the effects of human selfishness and greed. I guess all I would say is communicate, express that you are looking for someone to commit to, and then move on from those who state that they don’t want what you do. Attempts to change their mind are often futile. If they aren’t ready, leave them be. I wish you the best of luck with what you’re searching for.
[–]Alecstocker 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's so sad the games that are played today. Only gets you farther away from true love and finding someone. Many girls and some guys expect all the work to be done by the other. Let's see how much they will do to get me. And there's often a long line. It makes people disposable and ends up with treating people so unkindly. Very sad state of dating.
[–]Pantherist 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think the main issue is that they want to be in the driver's seat about commitment. Not only is it partly because of the biological imperative to be picky about someone they might want to settle down and have children with, but there's also the social dynamic where they assert control in their interactions with men. And the game is such that men have to pander somewhat to their expectations because that's just how things are.

its no fun taming someone who's already tame.. it's actually boring so the second you say you're committed they lose interest...
“You are only punishing yourself when you want to be in a relationship with a woman more than she wants to be a in a relationship with you.” ― David Deida
This path goes so deep, realize your insufficiencies. You are not polarizing. You are not true to yourself, nor to her, nor to the core depth of your being. Or are you?
Also you pinpoint a tiny point, while as a whole it does not matter. Your whole is seen as unworthy precisely because you see it as unworthy.
You have to stop thinking too much, yet still manage to keep thinking.
This is one of the scene where the guy break dishes and throw a fit, and then she kiss him and get fucked... And another guy break dishes and throw a fit, and she charge him the broken glass and tell him to get out.
Value.
Value is in the eye of the beholder.
Emotions rules the human world. Don't you dare say women are the emotive ones. They are, too.
So yeah. Long story short, you're a loser.
[–]AngeloMacon 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's just the natural order of things. Men start by courting the girl, then trying to bang her. After that, it's up to the woman to push for a relationship and all the checklist of things to come with that. Most men or women won't be interested in a relationship if the script is flipped.
If thr girl is really into you, you can get away being the first to say I love you or reach to hold her hand in public first, etc. But do too many of these first and women will lose interest.
Men don't want to marry easy to fuck women. Women don't want to marry easy commitment men.

Damn I feel like you’re describing me. This is something I’m working on myself.

I’m reading this book called “Attached” by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller rn that you might also find interesting. It explains attachment theory really well and then offers insights into becoming more secure in our own attachment style and seeking a partner who is also secure in their’s. Sounds like these girls are avoidant - maybe some vibe you’re putting out there is pulling avoidant girls idk.
I’ve had this happen too. Boy does it suck. But looking back, I did indeed get super anxious and needy when she pulled away, and frankly I didn’t like that person I became either. I want to be confident and secure so that’s what I’m going to work on.

I think it depends on their attachment style - I think girls have fallen hard and gotten heart broken - and over time and repetitive outcome they develop avoidant attachment so they don’t get hurt again! This is me speaking on my personal experience as a female-
Try asking in the beginning like the first few conversations. What are you looking for? If they say anything other than, “a boyfriend” “a serious relationship”, it means they aren’t ready. If she says, “going with the flow” “let’s see what happens” “open for anything” or any other bs vague answer, it means no she doesn’t want a relationship. Most will never give a direct no. So if it’s not a yes, it’s a no. Now you will know before falling. The best thing I ever did was put my dates in buckets, 1. Potential Spouse 2. Just for fun. And I listen very closely for what they want before deciding which bucket they belong to. Saves a lot of heartache.

Just take the “why pay for milk when you can get it for free” to heart. Keep doing you and your own thing. Let her poke at those questions. Is what it is, but it makes it all easier. Women hate needy dudes, and if they wiff it just a smidge they’re out. Not saying you were particularly needy, but if they even think it.. it’s over

Dating in 30s is way easier. We know what we want theres no games and everything is more genuine thats why i dated much older men in my 20s the guys i wanted stability and most 20 something guys are just to immature and havnt grown into themselves, both guys and girls this age seem to be more self absorbed and selfish i know i was too.
No offence but most

Don't fall in love
Use them as they use you
Simple
Google "serial monogamist"

She probably has an insecure attachment style (probably avoidant) and wants to see ways in you to build intimacy. People want to be able to move towards intimacy but the other person usually messes up the flow. I’d read Models if you haven’t already.

Have you considered maybe there is something that you might be doing.
They are certain things that girls look for to commit to a guy.
Maybe you don’t have those qualities yet..

all kinds of people do this. i fall for emotionally unavailable people all the time. it fuckin' sucks. i'm wanna try to stick to emotionally mature people who can communicate their feelings, but that sounds pretty difficult to find so who knows.

Women do this if they are at a certain level of attracted to you. They are attracted enough to give you a chance. Taking this time to give you a chance can make their attraction to you stronger or weaker. In this case, the woman gave it thought, and found that you weren't relationship-material for her.
You could keep seeing her if you keep it cool and don't mention relationship stuff, but if you bring all that up, she will label you as needy/clingy and desperate for a relationship.

Hey, OP.
You might not like what I have to say but I am just offering an alternative point of view. I am a 25 year old woman who has received the same critiques from some of the people I have talked to in the past. I have also heard my straight guy acquaintances complain about similar behaviours from women they have talked to. After many discussions (and lots of reading), I think that it is worth considering the mismatch in how we are socialised to perceive intimacy in heterosexual relationships.
I often find that the men I have talked to perceive my honesty as me being vulnerable. Honesty and being open to being asked questions or talking about my experiences is not intimacy or vulnerability to me. I have honest and vulnerable conversations on a daily basis with friends and I am more than willing to have these conversations with men that I see the potential to be romantically involved with.
Basically what I am saying is that the physical and emotional intimacy, and the amount of time spent with the person you are seeing may be extraordinary to you but normal in the early stages of dating to them. I think that many men (at least where I am from) have very little experience with intimacy outside of romantic settings and when someone gives them kindness, comfort (and human decency) they become lovestruck before they even know you. In my experience it just feels like the guy likes the idea of you without actually getting to know you. I actually feel unseen when someone feels they know me when they don't. It is rare for me and the women I know to reveal our whole selves in a short space of time so even if you feel a spark you ought to give it time and space to become a flame otherwise you will smother it.
There are a lot of articles that dissect intimacy and the mismatch in the perceptions of intimacy in heterosexual relationships. It can be quite comforting to see that you might not be the only person having the problem but the problem is not about women in general (or the woman you dated either).
[–]Unlucky_Science_2674 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’ve found myself at both sides of the issue. She enjoys the intimacy you provide, but she likes having her options open because “she knows” she can do better and does want to settle Know your place and enjoy while it’s enjoyable

The trick is to never be the one to initiate the relationship.
You have to reverse the role and let her come to the conclusion she wants to be in a relationship with you.
[–]18cmOfGreatness 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When girls acts like this she shows that she isn't a relationship material. Period. By our biological default, having sex for a woman means risking pregnancy and is a greater investment than dating. If a girl meets you for weeks, having sex and fun with you but doesn't even try to make things serious, then she's for the streets. Such girls are good to keep as FWB, but why would you ever date one?
[–]curly_peppa 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Seems like she is a commitment-phobe, but that's not on you. Shitty of her to do tbh
