I was probably an 8 about 10-15 years ago and I got approached a lot. Contrary to what I read on Reddit though, I never minded the attention (bar the lewd & crass come on's). I'm glad to have the memory of being considered an attractive woman so that my now-faded looks don't bother me much :)

Well, here goes.

I personally consider myself average at best. But I have been told my scale is broken because I grew up with a model-tier sister who came close to dancing for a major NFL team until my parents shut that down.

It depends on location and who I'm with. When I'm with family, particularly my brother, low frequency. When I'm out with other women, medium frequency. Alone, I have to brace myself for a guy to come up to me at least once, if not more. Luckily the most recent one wasn't so bad. We haven't gone a day without talking since we met.

All the time. I hit puberty sooo young too. So walking home from school consisted on being whistle called and honked at. And creepy men pulling up to me. It made me resent my body tbh. I started dressing to hide it in middle school especially after the constant getting pants to see my ass or getting grabbed.

I think I even asked my pediatrician once to remove my breasts.

High school, was rough because I was fetishize for being Puerto Rican. So most of the guys only wanted me because of the Latina experiences and looks. But funny part is I am white af as a person, speak zero Spanish and was raised by white people.

Going to clubs and bars suck when you can possible get hurt for rejecting a guy… because all you want is to be left along. Because of this I’ve gotten my hair pulled, stalked, and punched in the face.

Working in college was fun as a waitress. Huge tips but also creepy stalkers. Once someone threw their phone number legit in my face, they thought it was cute? Once a guy tried taking pictures of me.

I was dogsitting via the Rover app and even got targeted a few times by human traffickers?? And only found out from my the rover site people, that the people trying to request me to dog sit are doing that.

I could go on and on. I’ve been hit on on the street. Once I was with my mom and some guy commented on my ass and my mom almost killed him.

I learned very young to hate the constant attention especially because of a-lot of it was from creepy older men at such a young age. I think also because I hit puberty in elementary school and was exposed at such a young age and so Ill prepared, is kinda why I am still uncomfortable with it all.

I now carry a taser, pepper spray, a knife and so on.

I am 21F attractive, I work in insurance/sales so I get approached nearly daily during work since I open up conversations with many people naturally. I feel as if many men take my smiling professional courtesy as an invitation to make a move, so I suppose that’s part of it.

30F. When I was single, it was every time I went out to a bar/restaurant with friends.

When I did sales, it was pretty normal when I’d be cold calling/pulling on doors and such.

I WFH now and have a fiancé, so I don’t go out by myself or with my single friends really at all, but still get approached at the grocery store/Target occasionally (my engagement ring isn’t traditional-looking at all.)

Never been hit on at the gym though.

When I was 20 pounds heavier and didn’t work out, I was a 7.6 (or so the internet rated me, lol), so I’m guessing now I’d be around an 8.

My answer is that it depends what you mean by “approached”. I live and work in a major city. Men whistling, making lewd comments, and seeking nonverbal permission to approach (making it obvious they’re checking me out and trying to make flirty eye contact) is relentless. Monday through Sunday. My grocery store is a block away and I can’t run out for a carton of eggs with greasy hair and sweatpants without it happening at least 3-4 times.

On a standard workday (before the pandemic), I’d walk 10 minutes to the metro, ride for 10 minutes, and walk 5 minutes to my office. Maybe grab lunch a block or two from work. Yoga class in the evening (all or mostly women). I’d say I get some kind of unwanted male attention around 30 times a day. That’s a typical workday, not dressed up or going anywhere fun. “Going out” is much worse, I’ve avoided all forms of nightlife for years because I’ve found it to be dangerous at worst and unpleasant at best.

Mercifully, most strangers do seek nonverbal permission before actually approaching and trying to talk to me. At that point I just make quick eye contact with a blank facial expression and look away, and they usually get the message. If they try again, I shake my head no, and that almost always ends it. A few times men have come up to me anyway, or skipped the “seeking nonverbal permission” step altogether and just jumped right in. That doesn’t happen very often, thank god. When it does, I just “gray rock” them until they go away.

For what it’s worth, I’m 35 but I usually get mistaken for late 20s. I have dealt with relentless unwanted male attention since puberty, and I have yet to notice any decrease as I age. Fingers crossed.

35F but because of genetics I look considerably younger and I think that probably impacts the sheer quantity of men who approach me (ex: I don’t think teenage boys -who come up to me A LOT in any public space where they happen to be- would still be coming up to me if they knew on sight that I could biologically be their mom). I personally feel that other than being in very good shape I’m pretty average but being in good shape probably puts me just a little above average.

In terms of how often I’m approached it’s pretty much every day that I go outside (tbh some days when I don’t, an Amazon delivery guy and a food delivery guy made moves this past month). Having my husband with me when I go out does SIGNIFICANTLY cut down on those numbers, but I/we still get chatted up a decent amount more than I would have expected.

But when I’m alone it’s every time I’m out in the world unless I’m in a desolate or female-only space. Like, I cannot think of the last time I went to Starbucks, the grocery store, the pharmacy, for a walk in not-my-neighborhood, the vets office, the liquor store, Home-Depot etc. and didn’t get approached at least once. The gym was one of the most common spots and before covid it was to the point where I was very agitated and at a bit off of a loss over what to do because I was developing actual rage issues over never being allowed to finish one set or do 10 minutes of cardio uninterrupted. I stopped going for a while when I realized that I came close to assaulting a guy who came up to me and made the “please take off your headphones” motion at me. He didn’t deserve to be assaulted over that (it’s annoying but not criminal) it’s just that he was like the 11th dude to bother me in a half hour and I felt like I was going to cry or scream. If any guys are reading this: leave women alone in the gym. Maybe if she has makeup on and is dressed to impress it’s a safer bet to chat her up, but if -like me- she’s wearing a baggy T and no makeup, and is sweating like a hog…please assume she is not there to catch your eye.

Most of the time it’s pretty harmless/friendly and most men take my brush-off fairly well. Mentioning my husband mostly works (although some pick-up artist or another MUST have put out a script or something because lately I’ve been getting a LOT of the same apparently scripted reply to saying ok married or mentioning my husband. The guy will say “oh you’re married?” And I’ll say yes, and he’ll say “happily married, though?” and ask me if my husband is treating me right or imply that he’s not a good husband for “making me do the shopping” or something).

I do get attention from a fair amount of teenage boys approaching me and none of them are ever an issue or an annoyance, in fact most are incredibly sweet and apologetic when I say “buddy, I’m in my 30’s but you just made my day!”. I actually had a 16yo kid who asked me what skincare I used so he could tell his mom, and that tickled me. There are occasions when a younger guy (usually college aged I think, they all look like babies to me) will be persistent past “I’m old af” and “I’m married af” comments but even those aren’t ever scary or upsetting. Much younger men are, at worst, obnoxious. For the boys/guys between the ages of 15-30 who approach me it seems to usually be an unplanned and casual response to seeing me and being interested and shooting their shot. That’s flattering and usually non-threatening and easily dismissed. I’ve actually made two friends for my husband in this way (they were both wearing obscure fandom shirts of things I know my husband LOVES and I said “OH MY GOD! My husband isn’t the only person who loves that?!” and they quickly forgot about me and wanted to meet the mythical man who also liked the same random thing they liked).

The worst and sometimes scary approaches I get are from men my age or older (who tend to assume I am a decade younger than I am). They have this frustrated, almost angry/resentful vibe. Like “damn it why won’t I just be their fucking wife already! What’s my problem?!”. Some men who see me with my husband will approach me on a separate occasion when he’s not there and start interrogating me about my marriage (one man, I HAVE to assume he was mentally disabled to some extent, said “I saw you with your husband here last week and he’s fat I have abs!”). Some give off “bundy vibes” as I like to say. It’s not a casual or happenstance approach. They’re just standing idle in a Trader Joe’s with an empty basket, sitting at attention on a park bench scrutinizing women who walk/run past, at the dog park without a dog etc. Just obviously waiting in a public space where they anticipate the appearance of a woman, and then targeting and approaching. I don’t know about single women (maybe ladies who are looking for a partner actively are appreciative of this?) but it’s quite disturbing to me. It feels like being hunted and I can distinctly understand that they have plans for me. Although I know most of them just desperately want a partner, my brain always goes right to being sliced up in a basement somewhere.

I was an “ugly duckling” for most of my life, or at least that’s how my mother made me feel. So when I finally lived on my own and potentially blossomed more in my 20s, it happened all the time and everywhere I went. Until now I guess I don’t really get it. It’s difficult disassociating from the beauty ideals I grew up with - blonde, blue eyes, extremely thin. I think my look is quite trendy now - brunette, brown eyes, tanned Eurasian.

I also think the frequency greatly varies on where you live. Where I grew up, it was exhausting, distracting and there were a few times that required police intervention.

I still struggle with body image and self esteem issues. Any type of comment about my physical appearance makes me uncomfortable and can sometimes send me into a spiral. But I’ve been able to control it by changing careers and working in a role where people aren’t so bold or inappropriate in the workplace (engineering). I limit social media, and revamped the way I dress to be more conservative and also hopefully distract from the body I’m in. I want to be complimented on my personality, accomplishments, or style instead, not my body or face. There’s no security in physical qualities 🙁

31F here. (lookswise: slim, blonde, good fashion sense). Whenever I meet a new social group (new workplace, new hobby, new sports mates, friends of friends) there's at least one or two guys who ask me out. However I deny their requests hence being in a relationship. Sometimes stranger men approach me as well, on public transport for example.

When I was younger, my popularity was lower because I didn't look as good as today. Puberty hit me very weirdly causing problems with my skin and weight. I started peaking around age 27-28 when all these problems went away and I looked so much brighter. Which attracts more suitors.

I'm a late bloomer I guess, but I also don't believe at this "women peak at 22" bullshit. I usually laugh at these people and show them my 22yo photos where I looked like a lost, sad teenager.

Also, one more thing: when I was around 14 and my breasts and hips started developing, I attracted a weird amount of creepy 40+ year old men, my parents pointed out very often how these men looked at me and tried to flirt with me. This was not flattering but straight up scary. I realised that there are far too many weirdos who are into children. So I guess I'm better off now.

I consider myself above average to very attractive (certainly so 4 years ago when I was 18 & working out hours most days). I get compliments from random strangers, cashiers, even my teachers and parents’ friends. My identical twin is a sugar baby. When I went to Belize for my senior graduation trip, a 34 year old from Miami followed me around and bought all my drinks + payed for extra excursions, and a wealthy businessman on vacation with his family invited my sister and I to have dinner after seeing me braiding his young daughter’s hair (he told us stories about how he used to sail out to oil rigs in the middle of the ocean on his parents’ yacht & dive off of it). He paid for a lot of our food during the rest of the trip. Four years later, he still wishes us happy birthday on Facebook. Stuff like that happens pretty often, especially in regards to older wealthy men approaching me with “advice” or offering to pay/buy me things.

That same trip my sister and I thought we were about to be arrested when an airport security guard on the island followed us from security to our terminal, pointing and speaking to his coworker. Said coworker finally approached us and said it would “be his dream” to take a picture with us and that it was his birthday.

Obviously there’s also the creepy dudes who approach me on the street / catcall / yell at my (now) ex how lucky he is, and dating apps are an all-you-can eat kind of experience. My friend’s dads used to flirt with me, too. Once one of them told me (while doing a brief demo for a mlm I got sucked into as a kid) that I should always sit next to the husband while doing a sales pitch and wear revealing clothes so I can “guarantee to seal the deal”. My twin had a man tell her that if she could cry on the spot, he would buy her most expensive set (1000+ dollars for something really not worth that price). When I was in Argentina visiting family, the hair salon that did our hair had us go to the back to do a brief photo shoot to help advertise their business & a few years earlier a photographer offered unlimited professional photography sessions for loyalty to help him build his brand.

When I was in highschool, I had no shortage of suitors & had an issue where established groups of girls (I moved a lot) hated me and were openly disdainful with me because they thought their boyfriends were flirting with me. Some of them were.

Now, I’ve certainly let myself go a bit following a serious crash in mental health & existential crisis stemming from COVID. Even then, I get called gorgeous by randoms & all of my male coworkers (all being two, full disclosure) have asked me out.

I would consider myself above-average, but not a model. I’m in good shape, so that is a big part of it. I dress very conservatively and professionally (not like Amish or something, but like slacks and blouses) or in work out clothes. I have never worn anything that could be construed as sexy so that keeps the approaches down. Even if I go to a bar, I’m dressed like an attorney or accountant lol. Men seem to be interested in talking to me, but it is in a friendly or respectfully interested way. I probably could count lewd approaches on one hand.

I was maybe a 7(?), I’m sure the experiences of a 9 would be different, but i didn’t cold approached at all often. I’m also introverted and probably a crap dresser which could play a role. I got hit on a ton working in retail, and fairly often by men that knew me, who weren’t attached to someone else, and seemed to decently like my personality. The only very attractive men that hit on me (9-10 range) were 95% of the time, the really forward dudes who probably hit on nearly everyone.

every time i go out, i’m catcalled/harassed at least once, more if i’m in a city and wearing cute clothes. when i go to a bar, i usually have at least 3 men approach me and ask for my number/to buy me a drink, more if i seem to be alone/no men in my group. i have been sexually assaulted in public, whether that be groping, grabbing, etc. around 20 times. have been roofied 7 times. i get like 3 flirty DMs a day from men who follow me.

Rarely at places where I'd like to actually meet a guy (gym, grocery store, library). Frequently if I go to a club with friends- but I'm plus sized so I'm assuming that's the reason. I feel like most approaches are guys trying to see what it's like to be with a big girl especially since I have the ideal proportions for a "bbw". It's somewhat annoying, I just want to experience solid courting. I'm assuming once I drop weight I'll receive the flood of attention I got in HS when I was simply "thick" but I don't know how I'll respond to it emotionally - although I understand people have a right to preference.

I’m 20 years old and above average in attractiveness (face - I starred in several musicals - and physique - provincial record holder in swimming here). Anyway, I don’t think I get approached very often because I kind of still look like a teenager and I don’t go to bars (I’m more into going out for Jazz performances with friends - those events are usually filled with old people). The odd time I get approached by what I’d describe as a conventionally good looking, really physically fit, party-type guy, I get all shy, quiet, and awkward. I don’t really fit into that crowd so I try to make myself unappealing to push those types away. I also don’t wear makeup and dresses so that might help. I like going up to nice-looking, introverted nerdy guys who are surprised to be approached by me. I approach for friendship, not anything more.

I am a woman who is frequently told she is attractive and would receive many compliments from strangers in my teens and early 20s. Still do from time to time. However, I’ve always considered myself about average for the simple reason I am not approached that much. Mainly just at bars and shows where there is drinking going on. Some of my features are definitely sub-optimal but overall I’m pretty harmonious and have never been overweight. So yeah, not exactly helpful since I really don’t know if I’m attractive or not, but that’s my experience.

I don’t care about “how many times a week” I get approached, I currently live in a small town. I judge my looks by how I get approached. If I get more then three sub par or disrespectful approaches in a row then I increase my gym time and work on my looks to keep getting the responses I like.

I’ve experienced both sides of the coin bc I was a late bloomer. This is just my opinion and how I judge my own attractiveness. I think if you aren’t attractive, you are invisible or men treat you like a dude.

However if you’re an attractive woman, men will say “wow” when you walk by. They stop and stare, or their head turns as you go by. Men randomly buy you something like pay for your gas or your groceries while you’re standing in line just so they can chat you up. Some men lose their cool and act really nervous around you even with their significant other standing next to them. I was surprised that they don’t seal the deal a lot. They set the foundation and then lose their nerve when it comes to asking for your number or a date which was disappointing.

Whenever I go out with friends (we’re all fairly attractive women) a man will come up to our table and try to ask for one of our numbers. It’s a game at this point where we keep count on who gets the most numbers.

Especially in a place like Poland where being Chinese made me exotic. I was getting a lot of attention when there were fit blonde bombshells in the same room.

I’m an extreme hermit and have been told I am unapproachable. Once my husband told me a bunch of men are staring at me. And I’m kind “oh they are?” He’s like “all the time. You really don’t notice?”

I also didn’t notice a guy was asking me out until he spelled it out for me. So it’s possible I’m not a reliable source of information.

I work as a service advisor at a dealership so I deal with men all day. I get approached all the time, like all day, and I can feel their eyes burning a hole through me. I have an extremely warm and approachable personality though, so even when I’m not wearing makeup or I’m just wearing a dealership polo, I think it adds to my “beauty” ( I personally think it’s subjective ). The other day a guy asked me for my number, which I do not get often as I get the impression men feel shy around me. But my coworkers gravitate to my desk area and I always have company to laugh and chill with at work. Outside of work I hang out with my boyfriend.

i get approached basically every time i go out somewhere. drive-thrus, retail shops, restaurants, sometimes even in traffic. i usually find it really flattering but i’m super introverted so sometimes i get annoyed.

When single honestly didn't get approached alot. Every guy I wanted pretty much I ignited all first contact with . Even my husband I'm married to now I initiated contact with him to let him know I was interested, and then immediately when he found out that I was interested he pursued me intently. Lol

Most women/females will get approached often and the frequency depends on many things. The most noticeable factor is my life is relatively easy in comparison to average women and men make it and keep it that way, aside from few bad eggs just come with being attractive to most.

I’m not super social but it happens whenever I go out with friends. I get compliments a lot from women more than men though when Im just running errands or something
