Seriously: why are there still guys who care about THESE women?

[–]RabidusRex 297 points298 points299 points 3 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

I guess some dudes are still unlucky enough to be married with kids to women who read articles like this one and take them seriously.

[–]cloudlessjoe 154 points155 points156 points 3 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

I apparently wasn't enough of a sex pest, so she had an affair. There is literally no winning.

[–]play_hard_outside 55 points56 points57 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh man, you must have been a terrible partner to have forced her into that horrible situation. The poor woman! /s

[–]Adeus_Ayrton 59 points60 points61 points 3 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

'affair'

Cheating. It's called, cheating.

[–]The_Dapper_Balrog 67 points68 points69 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yes, that's what an affair is. Cheating when married. They mean the same thing. You don't need to "correct" it.

[–]Funderwoodsxbox 31 points32 points33 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

“It’s called infidelity sir! Let’s stop beating around the bush and downplaying” /s

[–]Dowtchaboy 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Beating around the bush? You need to work on your technique.

[–]MBV-09-C 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if it's synonymous, it sounds like a vaguer, 'nicer' way of saying it, like calling a fat person 'plus-sized', or a gambler 'financially challenged'. The problem isn't with the actual definition, but that the tone of the word sounds like it's dressing up something that shouldn't be dressed up. That may not be the way you think of it and that's fine if you don't, I'm just explaining why people might want it 'corrected'.

[–]JollyFawn90 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think because affair can also mean an event, with that double meaning, it doesn’t pack as much of a punch.

[–]The_Dapper_Balrog 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Context is important. If I say I'm using a plane to shape wood, I'm clearly not using an airplane. Same thing here.

[–]JollyFawn90 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m aware of that, I just think cheating has a bigger punch. It’s dirty, no matter what context you use it in.

[–]A-Better-Craft 24 points25 points26 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"so she had an cheating."

Doesn't sound right.

[–]syro23 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I prefer “she’s a whore who doesn’t charge money.”

[–]femspective 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think “affair” suggests a more emotional relationship with sex, but it’s also “cheating.”

[–]WordsinaWhisper 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

same definition. you did not need to emphasize this, because everyone who speaks english already knows “affairs” are cheating.

[–]Adeus_Ayrton 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Try this:

He/she was an affairing cunt.

[–]jayoyayo 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How could you do that to her...

[–]MarsRisen 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same thing happened to me.

[–]SteveorJimmyorJack 84 points85 points86 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. The feminazi brainwash works.

[–]copeharderhun 185 points186 points187 points 3 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

Yup. Someone you entrusted yourself to, swore to always be faithful to, stay by their side for the rest of your life. Yet apparently touching her is being "gropey" and a "sex pest". If getting touchy with your wife is off the table then who the fuck is it okay to be touchy with?

Also notice it is ONLY men who are branded sex pests. If a man goes out with the intention of trying to get some (e.g. to a bar etc) then he is branded as a sex pest and looked down upon. But if a woman goes out with the intention of finding men to hook up with then she's "enjoying her sexuality" and "living her best life". Only men are demonized for daring to want sex and taking actions to get it.

[–]AnonymouslyFlustered 50 points51 points52 points 3 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I know who I’m touchy with … the ones that charge hourly, and then I’m free until the next appointment with whichever provider I deemed to be next. It’s crazy the amount of money that I save doing it this way, instead of always going on dates trying to do it the other way

This is what somebody would think and feel when they learn about the lifestyle from the media, news and from watching television. And that idea and problems comes people that just pick up other people on the street or from a Craigslist ad. I can understand one why would feel reserved if that is their experience on matter.

You get demonized for not wanting sex when she wants it, too. In that situation, now you're considered 'abusive' for "withholding sex" but men just simply aren't horny all the time, and there's nothing wrong with that at all.

I am SUCH a sex pest to my husband 😆 I’m always groping him and smacking his ass—at the most inappropriate times, too. He’s very patient with me.

[–]DazzlingMaximum450 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

maybe consider she’s not always down to be groped? talk about it. even if they are your partner you’re not entitled to their body. it still their body

[–]VStramennio1986 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The fact that you got downvoted for this....says, sooooo much...it's disturbing--the amount of people on here who think that they are entitled to another person's body, so as to make themselves--temporarily--feel better, about who they are as a human. And it is very temporary...or they wouldn't need to be pestering for it again. What they fail to realize, is that when someone realizes that you want to have sex with them because it is a temporary fix for your own insecurities...it no longer becomes something they want to do with you.

[+]bakalabalak -9 points-8 points-7 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Crazy how men think women in relationships aren’t entitled to consent. That’s what these women are complaining about. Adult life, especially with kids is so tiring and women naturally have lower sex drives than men. Yet they still pester their wives for sex knowing she doesn’t want it. It’s a tale as old as time.

[–]kratbegone 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They and you can fuck the cats then as they don't grope. It's all about, I got my ring and money and he still wants sex! Men provide and give attention in exchange for sex and companionship, it's not rocket science. It is a great deal for women but they are never happy. If the man is attractive they will complain they aren't being groped, this is just for ugly provider men.

[–]bakalabalak 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sex is not a form of currency in a relationship. If men think like this, it’s no worker their wives hate them.

[–]VStramennio1986 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not true. I will tell a woman just as quickly as I will a man, that they are being a sex pest...and that is a huge turnoff...which is likely why they aren't getting any. It doesn't matter the gender...no one likes being pestered for sex. It is the quickest way I know of to end up in r/DeadBedrooms

You like sex?

Don't commit

The men having the most sex nowadays are the ones telling women they "don't believe in labels" or "like keeping their options open". A woman never stops having sex with these men, so be like them

When she asks "What are we?", tell her you're a free artistic spirit and you wanna let the universe take you wherever it shall and never fight the winds of destiny because you're a sun Leo born in the moon of Capricorn in the year of the Dragon, so the Mother Divine will put blessings on your life if you let them come to you. It don't make no sense, and it doesn't need to. It's the reason you're still not claiming her as a girlfriend after 7 years "together" and she's not changing it

Men in exclusive committed relationships get frequent sex but not as passionate and no double-monkey-backflips anymore. She's not competing against other women for your attention when you commit so why should she try her best to please you? And worst of all is married men, who aren't getting any sex unless she's trying to have a kid

Today's sexual availability is the exact opposite of the 50s where men would marry to gain reliable access to sex. Not only does that no longer work, it's backfiring catastrophically for men: we are getting far less sex on avg by putting a ring on it

So tell your sons, & tell the young men in your life: do not marry. You're turning off the sex (and the women) by doing that

We adult men have to stop suffering in silence. Roughly a third of young adult marriages are sexless. We won't tell our unmarried buddies or our kids out of pride and dignity, but we're setting them up for the exact same trap by saying nothing

IN THIS VERY TOPIC: women are saying "women shouldn't be expected to have sex just because they're married". Yeah and they're the same women who will divorce and call a man all kinds of foul names for getting sex elsewhere. Idk why these women are allowed to post things like this in here, they clearly aren't aligned with this sub at all

Marriage legally reduces your sexual options as a man to one woman, who more than likely refuses to keep up with your libido and refuses to let other women keep up with your libido

Her libido drops to zero (but only in relation to you) and you stew angrily going days, weeks, months, or even years without a consenting nod from the woman you're committed to legally

Can't disown her now, she's got your behind for at least half your house and bank account, more if she tricked a baby outta you before turning off the sex (you better hope it's yours)

(BTW if you are already married, and it's sexless or low-libido, save yourself: file for divorce. Better off impoverished and happy with your options open and your destiny in your own hands. Either that or cheat if you're in a no-fault state and it's not a moral issue. Sorry you don't have better options)

If guys are dumb enough to marry these women at all, they get their just desserts

No marriage, no cohabitation, no exceptions. Period

It's the modern man's motto for good reason

She can be the sweetest most brilliant woman ever created. Still no reason to gamble half your life's worth that she won't get bored of you

None of them are that special to be worth the risk

There's literally nothing you gain as a legal husband that you cannot accomplish as a boyfriend with powers of attorney - besides the miniscule tax break you'll more than lose paying for divorce attorneys. In several states you even lose the right to DNA paternity test your wife's offspring to make sure they're yours, so if you're "getting married for stability of kids" you're losing the right to guarantee they're even yours

The one real exception to "no marriage no cohabitation" is importing your wife, obviously you'll need to be legally married and cohabitating for that - good luck having your traditional foreign-raised woman not be slowly infected by western feminism upon arrival though

They're independent and love the free dating market until they're walled, let them stay on it forever or somebody else be the simp. It doesn't have to be you. Marriage is no longer a guarantor of even starfish 'do it for England' sex so ask yourself how you manage to benefit from it at all as a male?

Ask most men why they get married, there's no tangible answers. It's what's expected. It makes her happy and feel loved. It's religious tradition - which made sense with religious laws that backed stronger marriage

Meanwhile women's leverage over men getting married elevates from the gf's leverage of "withholding sex until she gets what she wants and hoping the male doesn't have more options for sex, surprised Pikachu face if she gets replaced" to being a wife "dragging you through the legal system for half of your salary & assets because she was bored and tiktok told her she deserves better"

Of course they'd feel happy about a marriage, they even get the fancy wedding to stunt on social media & their single friends

Sexless marriage is emotional abuse & constructive abandonment but nobody cares because it primarily affects men. Well, the ladies can be as sexless & low-libido as they want - on Tinder. Don't get married, men

And even then, drink dates - no meals

Basically, if you as a man gain zero quantifiable benefits from being married... don't get married. The tax break doesn't count because you'll lose that money multiple times over in divorce. Hospital visits and all the other legal rights can be legally arranged without marriage

What are you as a man gaining besides those things which are easily replaced? It's not sex. Because a lot of the women are proven to stop having sex (with you) very soon after the wedding

Read r/adultery for a cold splash of water to the face of you've whenever you even consider marriage. Every single post by a married woman is talking about how heartbroken she is by an affair partner she's been sexing behind her husband's back, she loves him more than her husband, they're "soulmates", but he broke it off with her so she can't have him. Be him, men. They give zero craps about their husbands. They love unavailability. And that's a support group so the comments are similarly sick in the brain

(For fun: contrast the vast majority of posts by the cheating men, which are basically brags about their sexual conquests or asking for ways to attract sexual conquests instead of unrequited love stories about any woman in particular. We really do cheat differently as genders)

You like her?

You want her to keep liking you?

You wanna keep having sex with her?

Then definitely DON'T marry her

[–]pdoherty972 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In several states you even lose the right to DNA paternity test your wife's offspring to make sure they're yours, so if you're "getting married for stability of kids" you're losing the right to guarantee they're even yours

WTH? How can they prevent the testing to prove/disprove whether a child is even yours? So they expect any man that the woman points a finger at, that she may or may not have even had sex with, should be obligated to 18 years of child support with no recourse?

[–]MBV-09-C 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you go too long without trying to test for paternity, they still keep you on the hook for child support even if you aren't the dad. Because it's apparently too much work to find the actual father, when they already have you there. Men get screwed over so badly because "its for the good of the child" gets slapped on top of the real reason of "Give us more money, now"

That sub's the perfect response to this article

The women in there are VICIOUS towards their low-libido husbands

A man practicing the same behavior?

He's "rapey"

So wives can brutally critique husbands with low sex drives, but husbands can't do the same or it's patriarchy & 'my soggy knee' & he needs to be reminded his wife isn't just a sex object but if he does 120% of his workload + 85% of hers then maybe she'll have the energy to lay on her back, spread her legs and wait for him to once again do all the work?

[–]VStramennio1986 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Anyone who pesters their partner for sex, is wrong. Male, Female...doesn't matter. It's wrong.

[–]EvidencePlz 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I used to, but got so bored and tired of it so unsubbed. It's pretty much the same stupid shit every day. "Husband doesn't wanna have sex" followed by "wife doesn't wanna have sex" followed by "boohoo what do we do now?". The answers too were exactly the same each time. "Leave", "divorce", "seek therapy". Seemed like a massive copy-paste fest.

[–]401kisfun 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is such a spot in and authentic post, but this cannot be EVERY woman, can it? None want to be in a fairytale romance with husband forever, through thick and thin?!?

[–]OwnerAndMaster 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

NAWALT (not all women are like this) is the dumbest response when there's a 59% probability of divorce and then a third of the remaining marriages are sexless

So really as a man you have a 73% probability of sexlessness, divorce or BOTH when wifing up a woman

A more than 7/10 probability of marriage being miserable is more than high enough to tell ALL men to never marry, unless you believe 7/10 men are idiots and you're better than them at judging a woman's character while in a relationship

[–]EvidencePlz 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Makes so much sense.

If for example I boarded a Boeing 737 (an aircraft with two engines) and prior to take-off, the pilots onboard told me that there was a 73 percent probability of a dual engine failure on that flight, I'd immediately exit the plane and run, not walk.

[–]401kisfun 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I honestly think most guys lose testosterone as you get closer to 40, so that’s why sexlessness doesn’t matter as much. And if both parents really got into the marriage to be parents, that was the whole point, then its really about raising the children, and not so much the sex. My parents said that is exactly why most marriages fail, because the young couple gets married just thinking about sex. I am myself, a self confessed shallow guy, am kind of ambivalent as to whether or not I would be super excited to have sex with a hot girl at this point in time, because my testosterone has gone down. 10 years ago, that absolutely would not have been the case. I’d argue marriage is NOT about sexual frequency, it is about raising a family, together. Of course, child free marriages are fine too. But I do not think high sexual frequency is the point or a guarantee in either arrangement. It’s not even a realistic expectation to have.

[–]CFDanno -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ouch, my brain cells...

Today's sexual availability is the exact opposite of the 50s where men would marry to gain reliable access to sex.

What, through violence and having full control of their wife's life?

women are saying "women shouldn't be expected to have sex just because they're married". Yeah and they're the same women who will divorce and call a man all kinds of foul names for getting sex elsewhere.

What are you suggesting, that a married man should be allowed to strip his wife's clothes off and have sex with her whenever he wants? I'm sure many men and women would agree that both participants should be ready and willing - this isn't an issue of hypocritical women.

I'll agree that marriage is a pointless construct - you can have a perfectly fulfilling relationship without it. At best, it's a gesture of your commitment. It seems you aren't interested in a relationship regardless, though. Your evident hatred of women is disturbing and I hope people with your line of thinking would simply choose not to interact with women rather than treat them as disposable sex toys. They're human beings.

If you want women to treat men as equals, you might want to consider treating them as equals, too. Both women and men can be good or bad. Give them bad experiences with men and they'll be more likely to hate all men just as you hate all women.

There's this spectrum of society that has very present the feeling of being "high value" in a very toxic way.

Even worse, it's a funny system that makes people feel validated by having what others say is a "high value" partner.

I find comfort knowing that these kind of people form just a small part of the human spectrum.

[–]liga__privada 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It’s called emasculated entanglement syndrome. They don’t care about the women. They care about themselves and how they feel, and leaving a relationship is hard / hurtful. So they stay. It’s actually a feminine trait popping up in modern men. They’re simps basically

[–]SteveorJimmyorJack 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Or because they care about the kids, and they would do anything to preserve the marriege, so the young doesn´t suffer with the parents foolishness. I know cases like that.

Which women? There are lots of women that don’t want their husbands to pester them for sex all the time. I’m not sure that’s really an issue. I don’t like when my wife pesters me to do things either.

No. There is not.
Sure those articles suck, but: "Nagging" is a verb- something humans do.
A behavior that a human being -a spouse- can stop.

You're examples are a plea, or a gripe. "Please stop doing this".

"Sex pest" is noun, which carries rapey implications, meant to redefine someone's identity.
This article is a threat. It's dehumanizing.
"I'll designate you as this awful thing, and possibly tell everyone you are this thing.. if you don't behave how I want".

Why are there women who still put up with THESE men who pressure them into unwanted sexual situations?

[–]allmyghtt 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can he just not work for a month, not help around the house for 2 months For as long as sex is denied can he denie somthing you wish of him.

sex is a part of marriage and if ur actively not having sex with ur partner then why the fuck are you with them and why should they want to be with you. Why should they commit to you with a ring for u to make them feel undesirable

Sex is very important If ur S.O is not giving it up, leave them They arnt worth ur time, resources, energy or mental health.

[–]VStramennio1986 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol...you think the men who are being sex pests are helping around the house lmao...and if they are, it's little things...and if they think like you, it's simply in the hopes of getting sex...which makes it to be like, I would just rather do it myself then.

I suggest contemplating why sex is so important to your sense of self-worth. It's not healthy to use sex as a tool to emotionally regulate one's poor feelings about themselves.

[–]allmyghtt 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]lzzbian94 -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

News flash! They’re not. And the number of women who come forward are only the tip of the iceberg. Mainly because of people who would just shame them, slander them, try and silence them, or threaten them Into silence. History has shown us time and time again that reporting rape is more detrimental than helpful.

[–]SteveorJimmyorJack 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Reporting "rape" is highly lucrative. Domestic violence and child abuse also does the trick. The beloved husband, during divorce will become the worse monster on the Earth, just for Karen to get her dose of priviledge.

You should come to Portugal! You would love it around here! A female "victim" sued her husband for REFUSING sex with her! And she won the lawsuit. Can you believe it? It is legal for a woman to force a man into sex, otherwise he may be prossecuted for that! ANY reason is good for a woman to get into a man´s purse. She cries, she wins!

[–]lzzbian94 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah it’s not that easy. Most women who report it get dragged through the mud to the point they’ll see it happen to other victims and choose to suffer in silence.

She just left for work where she will drop our son off to school late and she will be late for work and her mom prepared her lunch clothes and even pre starts her car so she can just get in and leave. I didn’t know it at the time but I married a rich child pretending to be an adult. Seems like a lot of women are just big children with credit cards and princess complex.

[–]stigmaboy 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

She wanted to wear the boss pants, have a high paying career, work stupid hours, never stand up for herself to take holidays with us but at the same time contribute nothing to the household.

I work a trade, just as many hours but was still expected to do all the housework, maintain a big yard, vehicle maintenance, several renovations etc etc. Wasn't able to take vacation days when I wanted as she was always needed for work. Dead bedroom, too many resentments.

I'm better off single.

Well the last 2 years she's been weeding, mowing, weed wacking etc. And I'll tell you there is no garden and the yard looks like shit.

At least she learned to keep her room clean and how to start and empty a dishwasher. I still help time to time with the bigger chores, painting, plumbing and shit, only because I pitty her, and am still a role model for my kid.

Absolutely, sex is supposed to be an incredibly bonding activity between two people, now, it isn't always, because urges and whatnot, but it's still something that most people consider the most intimate form of contact you can have.

Clearly if it's that special you want to do it with someone you can at least stomach for more than a few minutes as a human being, right?

It is complicated. Her family is wealthy and delusional. They look at me as below them and would fight with piles of money to prevent me from having custody. Spite and wealth will drive her to get custody and move to China where she is from. We have two children and I can’t do that to my boys. I try to be a great dad so they will have that as memories ya know.

Her and I used to fight a lot. But I’ve tried to move past it and just make good memories for my boys. I’m pretty beat up emotionally and getting run down physically so putting in the time while I can so they grow up happy ya know. So I suffer in silence so they can have a better life then I did. I’m getting older so sex isn’t as important it’s just a bummer mostly. Seeing relationships that function are interesting to watch. Better to be free and live your life how you want them to be stuck in an unhappy relationship teaching your son's to do the same thing.

I was married for 9 years, she was an amazing fake for 8 of them... Then I got hurt and my income dropped by 80%. She cheated on me, but I lost literally everything in my divorce, she became so evil that when I bought a new car 4 days before the divorce was finalized, she tried to get the judge to change the terms and give her the car.

But now 5 years later, I'm back to being the happy fun guy I used to be, I have a large group of friends, and a new lady that makes more money than I do... She married a guy that has already beat her up twice. It won't always end up better for you, but that's why you try again until you're happy. Don't do it for yourself (because you sound defeated already) but do it for your boys so they know to stand up before it gets to the point your at.

She can't leave the country with your kids even with full custody.

There's a difference between being interested and engaging and being pushy. If they're classifying it as a sex pest, they're clearly talking about being pushy about it. Why is this being turned into a controversial issue?

[–]dissentforall 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The problem is the distinction will always be conveniently blurred based on what her emotions are dictating at the time. The exact same thing you might have once done that she was sexual and enticing such a smack on the ass or coming up behind her to kiss her on the neck and let your hands wander a bit suddenly gets redefined by the emotional state. If she's in good spirits and her hormones are good, then it's often the type of thing of leads to sex but if she's annoyed, depressive, overly stressed, etc then its just reinterpreted as annoyance. That state can extend indefinitely for some women and the guy is now sexless but all the relationship duties on his part are expected to be upheld and often added too because of the new stress. You also have to factor in previous rates of sexual engagement as well, most of the time the guy is acting in the exact same manner as he did all along.

The secondary part of the issue is that women very rarely take any accountability in regards to sex or dysfunction in relationships. For instance weight gain is big one and then it impacts her self image and no only does not want to have sex but then also stops dressing in a desirable manner. Turns down the partners advances repeatedly, gets worse over time but takes no active effort to rectify the situation. That adds to stress of both people, resentment builds, fights break out, etc. They go to couples counselling, guy brings up the sex issue and she reframes it as his fault for not being supportive enough for her to lose the weight or not doing enough for her to want to try to dress more attractive. She was the one that ate all the food, gained the weight, didn't exercise and tanked her own libido and she knows this but now she passes off the accountability to him.

I've seen this stuff happen so many times to my married guy friends and they often feel they have no real recourse without having to be indifferent or just assholes about it.

[–]RabidusRex 345 points346 points347 points 3 years ago* (59 children) | Copy Link

The quickest solution to putting an immediate end to sex pest behaviour is to come to an agreement on a mutually acceptable way to request sex.I would strongly advise you settle on words not actions.
Ask him to say, 'Are you in the mood for sex right now or can you tell me when you think you might want it? Because I'd really like to have sex with you as soon as you'd like to.'
It's imperative to separate sex from affection. Otherwise even innocent affectionate gestures will be seen as thinly disguised hints for sex, and you'll end up avoiding both sex and affection.
Setting this one ground rule alone – and having it adhered to - will make an enormous difference.

Yes let’s take all of the playful fun part of sex out and make this a transaction. Even better, I should probably offer to compensate my wife for her time - you know make it equitable.

This advice is based on the assumption that you have no alternatives than to submit to a cold and subservient role in a “romantic relationship”. Which no one would sign up for at the beginning of a relationship- so why would I stay in a relationship of it became that way?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How can you separate sex from affection in a relationship? Whyb even enter into a relationship if the 2 are separate. If you want affectionless sex, then buy a toy, hire an escort, or just do ONSs.

[–]abstractbull 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I could see this as a not all dogs are poodles kind of thing. Affection should be there, but not only expressed via sex. Affection can and should be it's own stand alone thing.

[–]8copiesofbeemovie 29 points30 points31 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The trick with my and my partner is that I learn to verbally say no to his non-verbal cues. He can get “gropey” with me, and if I’m into it we’ll have sex, and if I’m not into it I’ll say “no thank you” and he’ll stop, no questions asked

Can you see how some women would dislike constantly being groped / pawed at, or having their partner expect that every act of physical intimacy will lead to sex

[–]Grizzleswitch 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The fact that you are playing an extremist word game shows the weakness of your argument. Your word choice also shows that you have extremely controlling feelings about gender and sex, namely that you seem to feel that it is acceptable for the choice of physical intimacy to be in only the womans hands. Simply put, nobody here sqid anything about women being required to perform sex on demand, and your use of the words "constantly groping / pawed at" indicates that you are the absolute last person that anyone with half a brain shpuld be in a relationship with as you come across as a SA acusation waiting to happen.

[–]BeautifulTomatillo -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Obviously none of you have read this article and are just using it to vent your sexual frustration and anger.

This article is SPECIFICALLY talking about borderline sexual coercion that men do to their wives and I’m using the EXACT SAME words they use.

In your mind is it not conceivable for men behave in the way I’m describing. Any time a women complains that she is being constantly groped it’s because she’s a hysterical prude who’s making a false accusation, it’s because she’s exaggerating and hates men. No man has ever done anything wrong ever right ?

Sex should be based on MUTUAL agreement. Is someone feels they are being groped/pressured/nagged then it’s not mutual

You are assuming our thoughts and motivations based on your own odd perceptions. Stop. Seriously, nobody is impressed by your hyperbole. Nobody here has stated or implied that no man has ever done anything wrong or that women must provide sex on demand. Your foolish exaggerations pretty much make everything you say quite irrelevant. Grow up. Maybe actually open your mind enough to at least listen to what people are actually saying and stop it with the hystrionics. People in this comment section have quoted the article several times. You, apparently, are unable to come to grips with the fact that women often with hold even basic affection as a means of control while idiots like you act as though it is absolutely fine.

[–]BeautifulTomatillo -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are quite literally implying that no man has done ever done anything wrong by acting as if what I’m saying is impossible and pure exaggerations / hyperbole.

Not one criticism I’ve read here is actually substantial, the article even tells women that having sex out of obligation or to please your partner is sometimes necessary. It’s obvious that all the men commenting are just triggered by the title.

The topic at hand has nothing to do with women using sex to manipulate men, pure obfuscation

[–]8copiesofbeemovie 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I absolutely do, and it can get frustrating at times, as my partner can get touchy when I’m not in the mood and has a relatively higher libido than mine. Some men wouldn’t take as kindly to my verbal no’s, as well, they way my very respectful partner does. I suppose I’m projecting my relative luck in love onto the general problem, lol.

[–]Klutzy_Pride_5644 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Healthy relationships work in the simple physical cues not essay questions. If both partners are "in the mood" then things escalate to intercourse and otherwise they do not. It really isn't that hard! Taking natural cues and trying to make them aberrant behaviour is just silly. Reading this article I think every woman I have ever dated qualifies as a sex pest on some level. The whole idea is just so stupid in the context of a normal healthy adult relationship.

[–]aBlissfulDaze 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

As someone going through a divorce because of this exact scenario, you're seeing it wrong. I've never felt entitled to sex, but my wife started to see me this way even after almost a year of not being sexually touched. It killed all sense of romance to the point that by the time we separated I had already grieved the marriage.

When you're married there IS an obligation to meet your partners needs because you are the only person allowed to meet those needs. This goes for both sexes. If you ignore those needs or start to see them as pesky you've already lost the relationship.

[–]BeautifulTomatillo -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do you want your partner to have sex with you because of obligation ? Not genuine desire ? If so that’s your right.

Why don’t you actually read the article, it is not talking about men wanting to have sex. It is specifically talking about CONSTANT groping, nagging and pressuring women into sex. Even while she is busy doing other activities. Behaviour like turning every conversation sexual and not taking “no” for an answer.

That is not acceptable behaviour

What you’re describing is a complete separate issue.

Do you want your partner to have sex with you because of obligation ? Not genuine desire ? If so that’s your right.

You're 100% right. It became an obligation to her at one point. That didn't feel good. I do a lot for her even now when we're working through our separation, it never felt like an obligation. It felt like I was making her happy and that made me happy.

Why don’t you actually read the article, it is not talking about men wanting to have sex. It is specifically talking about CONSTANT groping, nagging and pressuring women into sex. Even while she is busy doing other activities. Behaviour like turning every conversation sexual and not taking “no” for an answer.

I think you're underestimating what an article says and what people read. Just look at the Bible and how many forms if Christianity there is. I always stopped at no and wouldn't push it again for at least 24 hours (more often I would go several weeks or occasionally several months). Over the course of what's supposed to be a lifetime that builds.

[–]BeautifulTomatillo -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article actually tells women not to get upset at their male partner for having sexual needs, it also encourages women to sometimes have sex out of obligation. It also explicitly defines “sex pest”

Do you not see how absurd and nonsensical this outrage is ?

[–]RabidusRex 24 points25 points26 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Men and women both want a partner who desires to have sex with them.

As you point out, It's absolutely OK to tell your partner No. Sometimes we are just not in the mood and there's nothing wrong with that.

But if your wife consistently refuses to have sex with you, even considering you a pest for expressing such desires, then there is obviously a huge problem in the relationship.

Vilifiying your husband because he wants to fuck you just seems absurd to me.

I didn't see anything in the article that points out the fact that feeling disgust at the idea of having sex with a long term partner is a HUGE issue that poth parties should be addressing.

[+]BeautifulTomatillo -10 points-9 points-8 points 3 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

Did you even read the article ? All of the men commenting are getting outraged for literally no reason. Nothing your complaining about is actually written

A “sex pest” is a man who is constantly pressuring and nagging his partner for sex. The woman in this relationship is being groped, pawed at and touched sexually on a constant basis, without invitation.

Do you think that is acceptable behaviour ?

No one is being vilified for wanting to have sex. It’s the constant unwanted sexually touching that is the problem, it is also a problem when men turn every moment of physical contact into a sexual situation which the article is addressing.

"This is how you can get him to give you this you want without needing to meet him: Have a serious deep discusion using these pinky words. If these words don't match anyhow you feel, here is another article with another pinky words, you have up to 3 to choose!"

OMG sapiency.

you need to understand that sexpest is a strong word, even when said about a male. Some distintion between wanting sex and harassing should be made. In no way this article seems to be about an specific, longer, problem(feeling used i imagine that is the problem you are trying to convey¿?), starting by the fact that it doesn't discute any of the specific problems related to it, it just simply gives you pinky words and a recipe to aparently control your man.

Its funny that you act like the article is to woman who feels her sexuality unheard in a relationship -its not about that- and the solution doesn't, in any way, account the partner. It straight-up.

And as example of this, you can see one of the considerations in that article: not being brave to talk with your partner about these things... "if you don't want to speak with him, you can mail him". Dropt like its nothing, like its just for a small subset of the woman reading that. Dude, that might need a conversation of its own, started with a text or whichever. (im not saying that its not bad advice to mail, with a partner or with whomever, its actually good and helpfull)

[–]Pubesauce 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women the world over love reading stuff like this because so many of them are indignant about having had to settle for a man they aren't sexually attracted to. This is a non-issue for women with men they actually want to have sex with. Unfortunately women only find about 5% of men attractive. So unless they want to be part of a high value man's harem, they have to begrudgingly settle for beta boy and feeling shivers down their spine every time he touches them. Women's natural sexual inclinations don't work well with a society which doesn't expect them to have some degree of humility and self-awareness.

Women get bored with sex in a long term relationship: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/02/women-get-bored-sex-long-term-relationships/582736/

Sexless relationships are not good: https://www.everydayhealth.com/sexual-health/are-sexless-marriages-and-relationships-normal.aspx

Effects a sexless marriage can have on partners and the relationship: https://www.marriage.com/advice/physical-intimacy/sexless-marriage-effect/

Sexless marriages are grounds for constructive abandonment: https://www.kurtzandblum.com/family-law/sexless-marriage/

There is a difference between "sex pest" and "not having sex enough to satisfy a partner". It is normal, healthy and reasonable for a person to want to have sex in a marriage. If it isn't happening frequently, then there is clearly a mismatch of some kind and maybe it is better to find a new partner. Is it fair to "pester" your partner? No. But the problem is that men can't leave the relationship without losing everything - their partner/friend, their income, their belongings. So what else can they do? Damn them if they do, damn them if they don't.

This sort of thing makes my stomach turn if this is an article from England. In England, women who torture children including boys (which I only bring the gender of the child up because of the context of legal discrimination) to death, are exempt from being searched by a male prison guard, but men are not exempt from being searched by a female prison guard. (Because the dictatorial misandrist child torturer sympathising government says so, without democratic vote on the issue)

I won't criticise Scotland / the Scottish government for this because I think Scotland has men search men and women search women in prison (equality) this is specifically an England problem / England government problem.

Once again this is one sided misandrist evil. If it wants to say "your male or female partner gropes and this is wrong" then fine, that's an opinion, that isn't sexist. However this (England) is land of the dictatorial child torturer sympathisers, and one sided evil misandrist law.

I'd like to see them make a news article about that.

[–]Magical-Hummus 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I really never understood this. Is not the person you decide to spend a whole life time with somebody you trust the most? In other words, are they not making you comfortable enough to be okay with and actually wishing they suddenly show you affection?

Sex is normal and touching your partner is no different than a kiss on your forehead or a general hug. It does not help that those people who complain about a "gropey partner" are the same ones who demand that they show unplanned (yes it sounds as weird as it is) affection. Besides tell me a scenario where a woman does not get sudden affection in a long time and where she does not conclude "my partner is no longer attracted to me".

Addtionally, what about female partners that never accept it that their partner refuses sex and always make a big deal of it. They also become "gropey". And in most cases when a man says no a woman suddenly thinks it is about her attractiveness, and simply pressures (forces) her partner to have sex with her.

[–]GambitSE 40 points41 points42 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No man I know would accept this. No man also wants a woman who doesn't want him. I've heard my whole life out of every woman I've ever dated that they want us wanting them. Or else they question if we're getting it someplace else. This is a very harmful mentality to try to control your husband's sexual desires. He will find it elsewhere if felt rejected for long periods of time. It's not even cheating at that point. It's filling a natural need like eating. I can and will always respect if my wife isn't in the right state of mind. But denying me nonstop and thinking that is a fun adventure for me is the most immature mentality I've ever seen written on paper. This is how you lose a husband.

Throw the whole woman out. For treating you like your some child that needs to be tamed and controlled. There is a line out the door of attractive women who want to get fucked. They're the ones who will get the next ring and the love/attention now. Not this sexist shit that no man will deal. No I'm not promoting rape. No man wants a woman who doesn't love him back. If you don't want to have sex with me. At least twice a week as a min. There is something wrong. It's just a fact. And I don't have to sit around and hope you'll change. I am just as strong as a strong woman. I don't need to sit there and listen to the bullshit lies. Physical contact is important for mens mental and emotional well being. It's a psychological fact. Even if it's just a fucking hug. Treat men with respect and care about their needs. And the mature men who put effort into life will always return the same.

But for real, the hypocrisy knows no bounds. Literally found two articles on Thought Catalogue that illustrated this very thing. One was how porn was making men worse at sex, while the other posted a year before said how beneficial it was for women to watch porn.

[–]Naru4odo 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Listen, men if you are in that situation, as I have said before, start going 50-50, stop taking care of her, stop paying her way if you were before, being that she wants to be a roommate, then become true roommates. Simple

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 49 points50 points51 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You shouldn't be physically affectionate with your wife:

For one couple, having a partner who is 'gropey' is funny and flattering. For another, it's harassment and 'rapey'.
I believe the problem has less to do with the amount of sex requested and more about the WAY it's being requested.

Again, why get married? Oh yeah, we just can't live without a woman in our lives. Men are not complete without them./s

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some married womem consider playful groping as 'rapey'? Do they also get a little bit pregnant?

[–]BlvckAnomally26 27 points28 points29 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women: Men need to stop being “gropey.”

Also Women: My husband doesn’t give me any affection any more. He doesn’t make me feel special.

It’s a lose or lose situation.

[–]want-to-say-this 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why does every subject and issue come down to making the woman happy in the situation?

Tell him to not initiate for two weeks so you can feel sexy and maybe initiate. Ignore your husbands needs for weeks until you feel like you want something then throw him a bone.

[–]11Alive11 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Oh, the rich double standards continue. This article may as well have been written by my wife. Anything even remotely sexual I do is blasted as inappropriate and objectifying, yet she's more handsy toward me than I am to her. We have sex maybe once per month and only if she initiates it. She'll get mad when I try to and expect me to immediately drop it if she's not in the mood. However, if I say I'm not craving it, she'll just go ahead and make it happen anyway.

Sadly, there are too many women out there to eat articles like this up and take it as gospel. It IS a woman's job (and a man's job) to please their spouse. If someone doesn't feel that way, then they likely shouldn't be married. You can't really demand fidelity and having sex on your terms all the time if you clearly display that you don't care at all about what your spouse wants or needs.

When the media isn't peddling the rape culture lines, it's constantly telling women they deserve it all and owe nothing in return when it comes to sex and relationships. Pop culture has evolved into a full-on cancer when it comes to relationships and family life.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Same bro. Been having these issues for awhile now. My fiance will put on bootyshorts and rub all over me when she wants it...and even when I'm not in the mood I do it. I do it because I don't want her to feel like I don't want her.

But when I want it she feels it's a chore. I've gotten to the point I don't even want to touch her anymore. I don't want someone who feels it's a need or service, I want someone who wants to please me as much as I want to please her. I don't like initiating anymore whatsoever.

[–]BeRad_NZ 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women: I want you to initiate.

Also women: omg, why are you always wanting to have sex?

[–]CawlinAlcarz 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This kind of attitude is pure garbage and aimed at keeping weight and pressure on the only non-socially constructed leverage that women actually have over men - sex.

[–]dukesaces 30 points31 points32 points 3 years ago (48 children) | Copy Link

Sex is an implicit part of any marriage. A wife that won't have sex with her husband is like a husband that won't work or provide for the family. You don't have to face a dead bedroom. Divorce her and move on, she violated her end of the marriage do why are you keeping yours?

[–]TAPriceCTR 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Cleave into her/him and no one else" is very often an EXPLICIT part of marriage.

[+]jaketheweirdsnake -31 points-30 points-29 points 3 years ago (44 children) | Copy Link

Well that's a disgusting take, sex is something to be enjoyed by both parties if they both consent and want to engage in it. Nothing is owed and it certainly isn't implicit in a marriage.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (39 children) | Copy Link

Thank you for your wisdom. I'm going to tell my wife this.

Often I'm not in the mood to bring flowers or celebrate Valentine's. Now I'm going to be appalled that she expects it.

[+]jaketheweirdsnake -18 points-17 points-16 points 3 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link

I'd that's not something you don't feel comfortable doing in the relationship then that's absolutely within your rights to be vocal about, good for you and your reading comprehension 👍

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link

Oh ok. 😂

It's uncomfortable going to work too. I'm uncomfortable changing diapers. I'm not in the mood to give massages when my wife's tired. Sometimes I'd rather play Zelda than eat box. I don't want to go to my mother-in-laws funeral because Im in the mood to smoke weed instead.

[+]jaketheweirdsnake -9 points-8 points-7 points 3 years ago (32 children) | Copy Link

Sounds like a discussion to have with your partner then. Proper statements of expectations are important in a relationship afterall, I'm sure a big boy like you can handle that!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link

That's not a "discussion to have with your partner" you maniac! You tell your girl you don't want to go to her mother's funeral because you want to smoke weed instead?! Bro. I am calling bullshit.

[–]jaketheweirdsnake -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

If that's your genuine feeling towards the situation, then obviously that makes you a shitty person. But if you'd rather smoke weed than comfort your partner, then they deserve to know what kind of person they are with.

[–]Equivalent-Pumpkin-6 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's exactly the point he is making. Why are stating the obvious? You failed to read and understand

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

Oh Ok. So since blowjobs are comforting to men any partner who doesn't always want to do it is a shithead?

Got it: There is nothing that's a duty or a courtesy or a sacrifice in a relationship that you extend out of nothing more than love.

You never eat box just to be nice? You 100 don't have a relationship with a woman. This standard of yours is preposterous.

[–]jaketheweirdsnake -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

The things me and and my wife do in our bedroom are done through a mutual agreement of what we want to do. If I don't want to perform a certain act or visa versa then thats taken at face value. If you are doing something you don't want to do in a sexual relationship then there's no passion in it anyway.

[–]VStramennio1986 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right. I feel like if more people would be upfront with who they truly are--i.e., wanting to play Zelda instead of eat box...etc--then whatever relationships they did manage to find themselves in, would likely be more their speed.

When we start doing things for others, with the purpose of expecting to receive...we set ourselves up for a lot of disappointment.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're serious? Literally "nothing" is owed in marriage?

So Your wife says she wants flowers and you tell her "no, you aren't owed that I'm uncomfortable." Lmao. I don't believe that shit one bit or you don't have a girl. There's simply no way in fuck you ONLY do what you are enthusiastic about and have any sexual relationship with a woman.

[–]jaketheweirdsnake -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'd it feels like an obligation then the act is not genuine. When I get my wife something for my wife I do it because I want to do something nice for her, not because I feel obligated to do so. Something done because of an obligation loses its meaningfulness.

If you genuinely believe you believe that you have to have some kind of obligation in order to do something, then it's probably time to readjust your worldview.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Good point. I bet when you don't want to go to work some days your wife goes. "Don't do that. It's not genuine. Only do happy or it's not real." And you stay home and get fired.

[–]dukesaces 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No one said anything about having sex without consent but it is very much an implied part of marriage. When you marry your husband or wife there's a reasonable expectation that sex will continue, that your personalities won't drastically change, that the two of you won't drastically lose/gain weight etc. Obviously unforseen things can happen but if one partner no longer wants to have sex then it's fair to say they've violated the reasonable expectation of marriage and you're within your right to leave them over it (or work out some sort of open relationship).

If sex isn't implicit in the marriage then neither are any of the other things like the man giving his wife time, money, romance. Him being there for her and the kids, the woman giving him kids etc. Nothing is implied or owed and then women aren't allowed to divorce their husband if he doesn't go into work or sits and smokes weed all day either. After all, nothing is owed.

[–]jaketheweirdsnake 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I understand the point you seem to be trying to make, but you are overlooking the fact that marriage is not a transactional relationship. If you are doing something for someone, sex or otherwise, it should come from a place of wanting, not a feeling of obligation. When I do things for my wife, even things I might not enjoy, I'm not doing it because I have to, I'm doing it because I want to see her happy. And your statement about drastic changes leading to divorce is an unfortunate if not common thing to happen, people change, if that means they are no longer compatible then that's fine, no one should feel bound to another for no reason. But that separation should be amicable and not filled with resentment simply because you can't handle not getting sex.

[–]dukesaces 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you are doing something for someone, sex or otherwise, it should come from a place of wanting, not a feeling of obligation.

I agree with that but it doesn't change the fact that sex is an implicit part of marriage. When you get married sex and a lot of other things are implied. If one side consistently fails to provide that to the other then it doesn't make sense for said marriage to persist.

[–]jaketheweirdsnake 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's just the sign of a poor marriage and a lack of communication. Sex can be an aspect of marriage, but it shouldn't be the hinge point. If someone's libido is so high that they are willing to throw an otherwise healthy marriage, then there are other issues going on.

[–]Normal-Yogurtcloset5 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Women who expect the financial security, emotional support and physical labor of a husband while maintaining a dead bed should be told to not get married because they have unrealistic and unreasonable expectations. For men, this is like going to a restaurant and being told that their expectation to be fed is unreasonable but are still presented with a bill.

Remove blame – from both sides

It's time now to stop labelling each other.

This is essential – and much easier to do once you've established some ground rules.

Him wanting sex more than you doesn't mean he has a problem; you desiring sex less than him doesn't mean you have one either.

This is a challenge you face as a couple.

If the two of you join as a team and work together, you'll get somewhere in solving this. A lot further than calling each other names like 'sex pest' and 'frigid'.

[–]countrymace -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Hey man, no nuance is allowed in this sub... But seriously, this is the way. Communication and actually wanting to meet each others needs.

[–]Darkwolf90 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This was just copy pasted from the article.

[–]countrymace 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It still demonstrates that the situation is far more nuanced that many of the commenters here seem to recognize. It’s not a situation where one party is bad and the other is good. It’s just a problem that needs to be solved through communication and a genuine desire to meet the needs of your spouse

[–]Darkwolf90 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I agree but most humans don't care about meeting anyone needs but their own and even then we tend to care more about preventing others from meeting theirs. Particularly here here on the internet where the vast majority of people are passive observers and that is only a fraction of those who even engage with the medium in the first place. Men will likely compete and refuse to work together, while women will trend towards an in-group bias, aka misandry even when confronted with the reality that it creates a lose-lose situation.

[–]countrymace 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That’s why it was good that you selected the quotes you did in your comment and why we need to be talking about this as a society instead of framing it as “men are bad because they want too much sex” and “women are bad because they refuse to have sex.” So many relationships fail because people don’t understand that it requires a certain level of selflessness on both sides. This is true in all respects, not just sex.

[–]Darkwolf90 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sort of? Relationships fail because people tend to forget that is isn't about 2 lives, it's about a life. Treating your spouse like shit is the same as treating yourself like shit. That goes for both sides, though in modern times this places the fault largely at women's feet, though I tire of misogynistic idiots using misandry to justify their sexism and giving men a bad name. You'd think that by now we'd have learned what prejudicial supremacist beliefs leads too? Nope XD. Women are only now beginning to realize that they've spent decades figuratively digging their own graves by lack of self-awareness, no self-control, no empathy, sexism, paranoia and poor listening skills.

[–]Dixienormous81 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wouldn’t it be similar to your wife constantly wanting romantic gestures (flowers, gifts, dates etc) to the point where it becomes a chore because you’re not that interested in it but you have to do it to some extent to appease her ?

Unfortunately all humans have their own conflicting wants , which leads to these kinds of problems

Hopefully one day we have sex/partner robots that can cater for all our needs without requiring anything in return

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

It's imperative to separate sex from affection

That single sentence alone invalidates the entire article and speaks volumes about how out of touch whoever wrote it is with healthy sexuality. And the fact that it's not the only thing wrong in it, plus the glaring one-sidedness of the entire thing, just makes it insane.

Yes, communication and trying to work things out is key, there are some good things in there, but name calling, blaming men alone for a bad sex life, saying men have to change while not even trying to assess the situation and the circumstances of a relationship, especially not taking the man's side into account just believing everything the woman says as 100% accurate as usual, and treating sex as some kind of planned encounter you mark in your calendar after asking for appointment is just wrong.

Like

Once you've decided on all of this, it's time to tell your partner.

See, this is good, a man doesn't know what his partner won't tell him.

If you find that conversation daunting, write a letter or email instead. That way you can take your time and word everything so you're completely happy.

However what the hell is this? I'm pretty sure if you don't feel comfortable talking about sex with the person you have sex with, there's some deeper problems there that should be addressed first.

You also need to share the role of being the initiator.

This is also good. Women should initiate more.

Ask your partner to hold off on initiating any sex for a period of two weeks.

But again with the planned nature of sex and men having to "hold off"... why does it have to be mutually exclusive?

[–]platyplops 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just buy her a farewell gift of a vibrator and a cat. You can throw in the wine bottle if you want too. The fact is that she will most likely be alone unless she finds some creepy subservient dude that lets her *** him instead. Don’t waste your time on these women, not worth. I’ve been in a miserable committed relationship and found that it’s soooo much better to be alone. About that time I found someone cool. I’m not special. Yet when a woman in r/marriage said her husband wasn't wanting sex as much as she wanted everyone jumped to hauling him to a doctor to get his hormones "fixed" no one was suggesting to talk to him or even ask if he was happy. These people don't like it when men want sex and show it with their partners but if a man doesn't want sex when the woman demands it, in their mind he is literally broken.

If you withhold time, money, and other resources, the law will grant her a divorce and you won't get sex from her, and the law will still make you spend your time to provide her with money and resources.

Meanwhile if she withholds sex, the law will grant you a divorce, you won't get sex from her but the law will still make you spend your time to provide her with money and resources.

Agreed though about sex terrorists. The problem is that the law has dealt her all the cards and none to you, and the bet is to you.

What I mean is she talks about the psychology of relationships in her articles but doesn't actually understand what she's talking about considering she's not an actual psychologist. Her background describes as having a background in psychology and journalism which most likely means they have a minor in psychology and a major in journalism probably a four year degree. She's not a PhD doctor otherwise it would be everywhere that she puts her name as Doctor. The point I'm getting at is this is not a credible expert to be listening to as this is just a person writing opinion pieces who never had kids of her own and seems a bit resentful.

[–]bottleblank 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, and every logical part of me says "that's correct, this article is bitter entitlement to full control of everything from a woman who is not qualified to contextualise that within wider human experience by way of science or medicine".

But the emotive parts of me say "on the other hand, this is a highly opinionated article published by a widely-read national newspaper which is going to ring some bells with the current atmosphere of institutional feminism criminalising and pathologising the existence and behaviours of innocent men, it reinforces the narrative and cannot reasonably be contested without opening yourself to accusations of 'entitlement to sex'".

In my mind, what you say is right, it feels like another straw being placed on the already strained camel's back that is my intention to engage with these discussions and try to understand the dynamics being expected or sought in wider "progressive", "modern" society. I know, for an absolute fact, that this article's claim runs counter to the expectations of many "normal" women - or even their needs, never mind expectations - and is sending a very misleading and manipulative message to the men who read it. It's the old "watch what they do, don't listen to what they say" that gets passed around these discussions by men who see through the nonsense. I can't argue with that logic.

Yet this messaging, however wrong and blatantly hypocritical it is, however much of a double bind it puts us in and simply cannot be reconciled with reality, however much we see that it is the concrete foundation of a gigantic impossible double standard, is out there. It's widely endorsed, published, referenced, by these institutions and publications with a lot of reach, opinions vended by those with high-powered contacts and connections to governments, educational institutions, corporations.

I suppose the tl;dr of what I'm trying to say here is that we should all understand that "normal" women aren't this neurotic, this demanding, this opinionated, this one-sided, and that by paying attention to these articles we are subjecting ourselves to cognitive dissonance that's destroying our ability to be human. Unfortunately, so are other people, people who are less in tune with the reality and outcomes of such rhetoric, which means we're stuck having to be at least vaguely aware of it so as not to fall into traps. This kind of insanity needs to stop. It's fucking over generations of people who should be having productive and hopefully loving relationships by warping perfectly normal behaviours and spreading lies which encourage dysfunction. These women, whether they believe so or not, are inhibiting healthy relationships between men and women.

All of this nonsense can be ended if we decriminalize prostituition. We as men need to be far better at being a group advocating for our needs. We already work great as a team for whatever project we need done; we just need to translate that same energy towards our personal needs. We can be better!!!!

Kamala Harris famously is on record proposing that husbands should be required by law to pay their wives for sex.

Take that into consideration.

Would you please give me a sause for this one? I tried to find it amd was unable to.

[–]anoduck1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

It was before the democratic primaries of 2018. The only reason I know about it is because I overheard my Professor of philosophy discussing it before class. The problem with discovering a source, besides all that has occurred since then, is Kamala is more than likely not the first to propose such a policy, but rather publicly condoned it and/or promoted it.

I will do more digging when I return back to my desktop.

Her bio falls short as she is nowhere close to being a therapist or psychologist. Her close friends are all psychologist so it's more than likely she basis her articles off of their opinions.

However the entire article can be summed up in two sentences (the first mentioned in comments below):

"Ask him to say, 'Are you in the mood for sex right now or can you tell me when you think you might want it? Because I'd really like to have sex with you as soon as you'd like to.'"

There you go, the onus is always on the man and accountability for maintaining the relationship falls dramatically short when it comes to women. No surprise there.

ive been single 15+ years. i love sex with women but it's not worth it.

The effort you have to put into it at the end of the day. women in my experience want connection, intimacy, chemistry which means you have to take them to dinner, wine and dine, dates, hiking, farmer's markets etc, for that connection just to get sex... it's just not worth it, IMHO.

all the media and studies talk about how women think men are creepy and gropey for wanting something natural. I'm tired of being shamed and made to feel bad for something that is natural.

Almost like basic human connection is also something natural to want and if you only want sex and not actual connection you probably need therapy.

[–]Kinexity 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Bruh. How is that supposed to work? Is someone going to tell them that sexual touching and sex itself are intrinsic parts of the relationship. If I had a wife I'd touch her because guess what - people like touching each other if they are close enough. If you do not understand that then don't engage in relationships. Also no sex for me => no relationship for you. You cannot have the cake and eat the cake at the same time.

[–]bottleblank 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Suggesting that men might be acting criminally sex-crazed even within a relationship (genuine instances of marital rape notwithstanding) like this simply indicates to me that this isn't about expecting reasonable behaviour, it's about going to extensive lengths to suggest that anything a man does, in any context, if it expresses a need, or a desire, or an attraction for/to any woman, it should be open to legal consequences.

Therefore I have no choice but to consider this either a mental illness or an overreach for full and absolute control of social and sexual dynamics by women who have zero regard for equality or cooperation between men and women.

When the conversation was about violent intrusion into, and devastating abuse of, a human's body, mind, and safety (ie: serious sexual assault, rape), I understood that to be a reasonable and important thing to be aware of and in favour of dealing with. Not the "teach men not to rape" rhetoric, but the general idea of not violating somebody who does not wish to engage in whatever activity is being imposed upon them in highly intimate and damaging ways.

But that's no longer - and hasn't been for some time - what this is about. It's about demanding men be slaves to the whims of women with no expectation of reciprocation or shared experiences. It's about controlling men's behaviour explicitly and absolutely for the benefit of women. It's become concern trolling, essentially, on a national - even international - scale. One could even argue that it's a form of terrorism, moreso than inceldom ever was, in that it is a gender-political tool with threat of emotional (and even sometimes physical or legal) violence towards men if widespread subjugation is not forthcoming.

I cannot condone, nor even effectively process, these conflicting narratives. Humans are social creatures, "touch starvation" is a thing, loneliness is rife, we need to be able to comfortably achieve closeness, men and/or women. Articles such as these spread denial of that fact with utter disregard for the consequences.

Let me put it this way, when my ex wanted sex, she got it.. even if I was tired, sore, or not 'in the mood.' Why? Because sex is a human need and when i got married, i promised she could 'have and hold' me and that we would be 'one flesh'. I thought ee take care if each others need.I viewed that as part of marriage. She however seemed to think that those promises were not reciprocal.

the thing with this is i can understand both sides of the story. on one hand yes its the woman's body shes entitled to say no. hes not entitled to it just cause they in a relationship. but at the same time 9 times outta 10 it gets to that point cause the women put out a heap during the relationship and portrayed themselves as one way, but the second the ring came out and they trapped the guy, they change completely and expect the man to just accept those changes. even if it means shes gone from someone who matches his sex drive to someone who wont put out at all and sees nothing they do as good enough no matter how much they try.

I dunno, I think I'd rather a kiss on my neck to get me enthused than two hands coming from behind to grab my boobs and a voice saying "bars, barp" to get me all excited. In this particular case ONLY, despite discussion, I think there's been a failure to communicate. I mean, if only my ex-husband had told me that "barp, barp" was his only way to get hard, I would have accommodated that, but he never said (you know, apart from "barp, barp" which I havent even seen in porn). I sincerely (literally) would like an explanation. Yes, I did do the girly thing of asking for a more romantic invitation (including neck kisses) but his response was to lie naked in bed with me and rub his penis up and down my butt crack while grunting - which again, I didn't find attractive, but I admit he was trying.

Can you find someone attractive while not finding it unattractive when they do certain unattractive things? Yes. I hate baby talk. If my girlfriend were to come grab my dick while doing baby talk in my ear, I'd be turned off. I don't like feet. If her main way of initiating was to rub her feet on me, I'd be turned off. Does that mean I don't think she's hot? No. If she wants to initiate sex, I would expect her to do something that would actually turn me on. And vice versa, if I wanted to get her in the mood, I would do something that I know would turn her on. You can't expect someone to be in the mood for sex when you're doing things that turn them off.

Actually, I had a high libido and he had none. I jumped through every hoop... and it turned out he was a paedophile. But from what I said above I can understand interpretation of it. On the surface though, before I knew, that was the way he'd invite sex and it made me feel like a car or something. We both know "not all men" are whatever. I was hoping to enlighten some young chap who hadn't worked out his wife's preferences, not condemn all men for my desire for sex. Are you with me?

The thing about sex these days is women often experience guys leaving them after sex but not leaving them because of sex.

So sex is something that women try minimise once in a committed relationship because it's "safe" - because sex threatens the relationship. Whereas it should properly strengthen the relationship.

So, something of a Madonna-Whore complex sets in with women these days.

Freud did describe a manifestation of the Madonna-Whore complex in women as being one where women have interest in sex when it is prohibited (more commonly today this is ONS and FWBs) yet there interest goes when the relationship is legitimised (eg. Marriage) yet their libido returns when they have an affair.

So, what do you do?

After NRE has faded it's really important to sit down and assess sexual compatibility.

And of course strongly assert that sexual incompatibility is a good reason to break up, and that without adequate discussion on sex, the relationship will fail.

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So, what do you do?

Well, as a man, you screen for women with an issue like that. It's in his interest to only take the lowest risk option he can get (or stay single if that risk is still too high).

Jesus fucking christ guys, have you tried, I dunno, talking to your partner about what makes them horney, how they can be turned on throughout the day, what you can do to put her in the mood? At all? Look, men get horney instantly. Women do not. Some women need more than an ass slap and an inappropriate grope infrotn of the kids while watching bluey. I do these things as a joke. I NEVER expect my wife to get turned on from this. Jesus. Run here bath, light some candles, take a shower, smell nice, wear some nice cloths (men like their women in skimpy outfits, women prefer dressed up men), put some music on, and so on and so on. Have a conversatile with your partner about how they like to be turned on and fucking DO THAT! or just keep slapping their ass infront of the kids and then wondering why you never get laid. Man some of you really need to get your heads outta yo asses.

I can't argue with that. I (and I am assuming most of the people here on Reddit) also have no e of the necessary qualifications to make statements and judgementa about this article, or its lack of credible information. I am just going by what I, my wife and the people on my close circle observe to be (mostly) true. If my wife wanted to put me in the mood (since I am not always up for it no matter what) she would do the things I like that get me in the mood and vice versa, whatever those things may be. Will it work every time? Probably not. Will it work better than trying nothing? Probably yes.

[–]HannibalsProtege 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I (and I am assuming most of the people here on Reddit) also have none of the necessary qualifications to make statements and judgements about this article, or its lack of credible information.

Neither does the author, to make brash assumptions that the burden of intimacy is carried by women, because men want sex often --- but she does. And her other works reflect that same bias.

From your close circle the consensus is that intimacy should be initiated by men, and if rejected then by all means back away. When and if your women initiate sex how often is it done? You've given your personal example, but have the others shared what their wives do for them? It's a two-way street, not a one way highway.

[–]MrProficient 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah but the author of this article is trying to convince women to shame men for their desire to be intimate with their partners. Literally at one point she comments about a girl sitting down and putting her feet up on their partner and then criticizing the guy for trying to put his hands between her legs. How about idk, not be disrespectful and treat the guy as a foot rest. Or even better, a women doing that is a sign of hey let's get intimate. Oh noes! A woman does flirty shit that sends a signal to the guy she is frisky and then he responds! How pervy that a husband has a desire to be intimate with his wife! The crime! The horror! THE SHAME!

However what this author fails to understand is that for alot of men, the way things express love and affection is through physical intimacy. If you're married and your wife is constantly withholding not because she's not in the mood which the articles states, and instead for some other bullshit reason, who is the one who's really toxic in the relationship then? Also if the guy were to go out and get physical intimacy from someone else because his wife wouldn't give it to him and he's the bad guy. Yet there's no criticism of the woman who's trying to withhold sexual activity and physical intimacy from her partner for the simple reason of trying to maintain control over the situation which takes away from the whole concept of being equal partners in a relationship. This author and the women that she's speaking to aren't interested in an equal relationship, rather they want to be the ones in control and gained power in a power dynamic of them in charge and the husband is subservient.

If that's not a bitter and angry woman at the world because she doesn't have any kids of her own and wants to be in control of all of her relationships and wants a man that she can just control through sex, then I'm not sure what a bitter angry woman looks like. She got divorced and then rode a book about her divorce, so anything that was private and between two married people got published. And she spun the stories of how she was the victim and how it was all him and blah blah blah blah blah. A marriage fails because both people aren't doing what's necessary to make it work. Which makes her just as much responsible for her divorce as he was, yet she doesn't acknowledge or accept her own faults and instead only tries to make women out to be the victim and then tries to say that that's the correct way to have a relationship.

She tries to use pseudo psychological ideology to facilitate her point when she's not a credible psychologist or a credible therapist who understands the dynamic of relationships to the expert level. No person should take what she says serious because she's not an expert at it. That would be like taking medical advice from the 18-year-old who works as a gas station cashier. They don't know what the fuck they're talking about otherwise they would be I don't know a medical doctor?

Its called being a partner. Your partner is not a bloody robot that obeys your every command. No, you won't get sex every time you want. But you 100% won't get laid if you pout and try to guilt trip your partner into it, and even if you do, it won't be good sex because they won't be so into it. And if all you care about if getting off then just go watch some porn and jerk off. No, trying to wind your partner up won't work every time, but you certainly will have better chances compared to just slobbing around and being a whiny little bitch about it. “It’s NEVER okay to force a partner into having sex when they don’t want to. If your partner does any of the following, it’s time to reconsider the relationship.

Insisting on having sex when you’ve made it clear you don’t want to. There’s only one word for this: rape. There is such a thing as rape within a committed relationship.

Threatening you for sex. Not just with violence but saying things like they’ll withdraw your access to money if you don’t have sex.

Belittling you for not wanting it. Calling you names like ‘frigid’ or accusing you of not being a ‘real woman’ for not putting out.

Insisting sex is their ‘right’. You are not a possession or property. No-one has the right to force you to do anything.

Making lewd suggestions in front of other people or your children. It’s disrespectful, degrading and harmful to the mental wellbeing of children.

Grabbing for your genitals or intimate areas forcefully. This is sexual harassment – and yes, you can be harassed by a spouse.

Refusing to talk about the problem. If your partner won’t discuss things with you, you have no way of stopping offensive behaviour.

Refusing to consider your request to stop. A complete unwillingness to change or acknowledge a problem is your cue to leave the relationship.”

I see nothing wrong with this article. It hits on a lot of good points.

By law he does. If husband would be priminary breadwinner and felt burnt out and want to quit then after a divorce he would pay her alimony based on his best income and court wont care that he doesnt want to do it anymore. Also we have some laws that protect women from "financial abuse", which is again entitlement for husband money.

My ex and I were together for 17 years. People change. He wanted more sex, I wanted less.

Eventually he was no longer asking my opinion and ignoring me when I said no or stop. He eventually went to trying to get me drunk so he could have his way. We were together for 17 years.

I've been in maybe 10 relationships in my life. Short and long ones. My bf constantly demanding sex 2 to 5 times a day and then not listening when I said no is rape. Me having to physically get up and run away to make it stop is rediculous.

I'm now asexual. I've explained what that means ( I hate sex, I hate being touched sexually) to him a hundred times and he'll still push for what he wants. Ignoring my wants and needs altogether.

No wonder every man I've ever met except one has constantly pushed for sex every day, multiple times a day, regardless of me explaining I need it less.

Look at these guys threatening divorce over women who don't have the same wants for sex they had over a decade ago. People change believe it or not.

My ex would constantly threaten to take custody of our kid, put me in a mental ward. Stealing my money to keep control of me so I couldn't afford to leave. Constantly calling me a whore. Wanting to sleep with me in public, at families house, on the beach. In his sister's bed. Telling lies about me until I had no friends and only my mom left.

Touching me with our 7 year old in the same room. Having sex with our kid in the same bed.

Completely ignoring everything I say.

We used to have sex as often as he wanted. After 10 years it was too much for me. After 17 years and a kid I was exhausted.

Reading this thread is fucking sad.

Reading your comment is sad. Your inability to take responsibility is appalling. You can walk away, break up, divorce, etc. Instead of that you do nothing and complain on the Internet about it 17 years later. No wonder you get into bad relationships, you should work on yourself and your attitude.

Being married doesn't prevent you from being a sex Pest. You can be annoying and pestering regarding sex no matter what your relationship status is.

It's annoying behaviour and no one should do it so I see no reason to post an article defending the behaviour or saying men in relationships are allowed to pester as much as they want.

Yes, everyone knows the logic of 'women owe men sex whenever they want it and those that don't provide that are neglectful'.

But that's just what misogynists would say right?

An egalitarian would say that women and men should have sex when they both want to and neither should be pestered into it.

Really shows the difference between egalitarian views and the views from people here.

If I had to initiate sex with my wife the same way I’d ask a work colleague for a meeting then I wouldn’t consider my relationship healthy. The method initiation suggested in this article is comical. If people want a relationship like that than that’s fine, but it’s not the norm and we shouldn’t advocate for it being the norm. My wife is literally the only person on earth I can be fully myself around, I can’t imagine losing that. Obviously a man should use common sense, if she just had a horrible day at work it’s not a good time to grab her ass, If she says she’s not feeling well and doesn’t want to be touched that night than of course you stop. But If she ever told me that my advances were “pestering” I’d be heart broken. If she ever told me that she didn’t want me to initiate physical intimate contact I’d feel extremely rejected. We don’t need HR reps policing our homes.

So....a social media group dedicated to bored moms? Probably not the best place to get a factual or unbiased story. As for you. You may want to come to grips with the mathematics and harsh realities of the world. Women outnumber men by a slight margin and men who focus on careers gain value over time. Now that men are starting to work that equation out for themselves, there are a rapidly increasing number of women hitting their thirties as both single and past their prime. Marriage is a partnership. If either side stops putting in, it is on them and they do not get to punish the other side.

[–]Grizzleswitch 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If a woman doesnt want sex then she should be an adult about it, accept that it is her issue and offer him a chance out of the relationship. Quite frankly, physical intimacy is a serious part of any adult relationship and if you think that comments or signs of affection such as pats or expressions that the partner is still attractive to you is the problem then you need to come to grips with the fact that you have serious issues and will likely spend a lot of time alone.

Okay but there a difference between "pestering" and "showing affection". Sure abuse should not happen, to be clear but labels like "Sex Pest" is something people use to just demonize any man for natural desires, especially the innocent ones.

Most women want especially the "sudden" part. They want their man to "lose their senses" cause they see it as a confirmation of being attractive. Find one woman who wants a robotic "Do you want sex? Yes? No?" scenario. Let's be for real. Some maybe, but the majority demands and maybe even needs suddeness. If I never was impulsive with being affectionate, my relationship of 4 years would not have lasted even 1 because she would have gotten bored.

the "pestering" is not a new thing for the man. But at some point it is annoying for the woman like the sex, hugs, kisses or every other way she showed affection in the past

communication already failed at this point, but the woman will do the typical and look for ways to blame it on the man

but sex out of duty is a horrible thought for the modern woman because this is rape

if the woman doesn't change her way out of her own volition. the man has three options at this point: rape, cheating, and divorce

Not only is a man's inability to convince a woman to organically have sex with him not a men's rights issue, but the article is right. Being annoying is being annoying regardless of your gender. The whole men's have needs thing is fine if you are talking about an actual need like food or water. You aren't starving from a lack of pussy in your relationship, and saying that you are truly is some incel shit. Way to convince the rest of the world that isn't what we are i guess.

[–]oncothrow 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

The whole men's have needs thing is fine if you are talking about an actual need like food or water. You aren't starving from a lack of pussy in your relationship, and saying that you are truly is some incel shit.

Being in a committed relationship includes fidelity to your partner, and a commitment to some form of intimacy. Without intimacy, it's not an "intimate" relationship, you are literally roommates. I will happily state that sex is an integral part of most if not all committed intimate relationships, as much a "need" as anything else, and when it disappears whilst one party still desires it, that is actually a big problem.

I agree in general that it's not specifically a men's rights issue. Go to DeadBedrooms subreddit and you'll find just as many women lamenting the death of intimacy in their relationships as there are men. It was actually kind of eye-opening when I first saw that subreddit years ago. For the longest time the popular impression with regards to sex in relationships is that men "sought" it and women "provided" it. In truth, both partners want and desire sex.

It's actually very telling that you started off your post saying "Not only is a man's inability to convince a woman to organically have sex with him not a men's rights issue...". Whilst it's true that there's a difference between both partners naturally progressing things to intimacy and one person trying to jump straight to it, it's not up to the man to "convince a woman to organically have sex with him". If we're to accept that women have just as much agency in a relationship as men then her choosing not to have sex or not is also just as much within her remit as it is his when he does or doesn't want to. Talking about him being unable to "convince" her makes it sound as if her unwillingness to engage in intimacy is naturally his fault. It can be the case, but it is not the default presumption I am willing to make.

The real difficulty isn't man v woman. It's mismatched libidos, and how to navigate that in the context of the relationship. But make no mistake, it is a very real problem for a relationship when it happens, and there's nothing "incel" about that except in the most literal sense. In which case, if you're using it to literally mean "one party in this relationship still wants sex whilst the other doesn't", I don't think that's quite the insult you mean it to be.

It's pretty fucking disgusting reading this thread as a women. I was raped at 13 by a 16 year old. My stupid brain decided he was cool because he was older than me and could drive. He ended up grooming me and then forcing me to have sex. He used to get me drunk to get his way. Should have seen that one coming later on.

Every man except one has taken that grooming and used it to do what they wanted. No matter how many no's, no matter how much I ran away.

I just got out of 17 years of rape and torture. He's a narcissist. Constantly name calling, getting me drunk to have sex. He would threaten to take our kid and leave me in a mental ward. I never had the money to pay for a lawyer so I was stuck. Kid turns 18 in a year. He said in tape he's not interested in custody. So fingers crossed. He lied to my friends and both our families so when it came time to leave I had no one.

[–]tyzbit -5 points-4 points-3 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

What is a sex pest?

For those who didn't see the original Mumsnet post, it painted a typical portrait of one.

The woman's husband is constantly looking for opportunities to try his 'luck'. If she bends over, he slaps her bottom. He wants a full-on snog fest while she's doing the dishes. He mouths dirty comments while they're watching kid's TV as a family. If she puts her feet on his lap on the sofa, he tries putting his hands between her legs.

Sounds awful, right? You'd expect a flood of 'get rid of him' responses – except that's not what happened.

Some did suggest she leave him – but others said the problem was as much hers as his.

I feel like it's a reasonable request not to act like this.

Imagine a partner who is constantly pestering you to go for a bike ride with them. It starts as soon as you wake up and they don't go more than 2 hours of being in the same room as you without them directly or indirectly asking you to go on a bike ride with them, or reminding you about bike rides just in case you wanted to go on one.

The thing is, you already work out. You like bike rides too, but you aren't normally interested in them before breakfast. You also would like to do other things in your life without constantly being reminded about bike rides and how your partner wants you to go on one while you're doing something else.

With that said...

Ask him to say, 'Are you in the mood for sex right now or can you tell me when you think you might want it? Because I'd really like to have sex with you as soon as you'd like to.'

This is a monumentally poor idea. Proposing sex in the same way as coworkers decide on where to eat is ridiculous. Learn how your partner signals when they're interested (being more affectionate, more eye contact, smiling more, it could be anything. You can just ask them once and you'll know going forward!), and find a way to be clear in your signals without leaving the signals up all the time. And if you don't get an enthusiastic response, then let it be for a while. Your partner received your signals and they'll "have sex with you as soon as (they'd) like to".

[–]spiderlord4 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Yes, only problem is you are not allowed to go on a bike ride with anyone else and even going alone is usually frowned upon and your partner only wants to go on a bike ride with you once every blue moon…

[–]tyzbit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

you are not allowed to go on a bike ride with anyone else and even going alone is usually frowned upon and your partner only wants to go on a bike ride with you once every blue moon

So you entered into a relationship with someone who bans riding bikes with anyone else and also only wants to ride bikes once in a blue moon? Sounds like you have fundamentally different needs and maybe aren't a good match. Also going alone is more than likely perfectly okay with most people, but I'll concede some people may be upset if they found out. Again, sounds like an incompatible match.

[–]spiderlord4 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That’s most men ime

[–]tyzbit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

If you enter a relationship with someone with incompatible sex drives and then get upset when they aren't in sync with you and don't want to have sex as much as you do, then you're deluded. This is a fundamental aspect of relationships, if you're not compatible the relationship is doomed.

[–]spiderlord4 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No shit… the problem is when the sex drive match or they fake they match and after you get invested they change their tune

[–]tyzbit -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So then what, you're entitled to sex? They should just do it because it would make you happy?

First of all, them faking that they match sex drives to get you invested is an accusation without evidence and reeks of incel ideology.

Second of all, if someone's libido changes, that's a common occurrence in relationships and is something you work with your partner on. Maybe their sex drive truly did change, so what was the cause? What can be done about it? And if it's temporary, then something else could be causing it like stress, hormones, body issues, relationship issues, attraction issues, stress or other factors relating to kids, or a number of other things. This is where communication, trust and respect come into play. Instead of bothering her with sexual advances all the time, instead talk to her about what both of you want and how you can have a healthy relationship meeting each others needs without having to surrender to the constant sexual irritation.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I admittedly didn’t read the full article, but I found it strange that she says in one portion that you need to separate sex from affection. Then in another portion, she says that part of sexual desire is loving the other person and wanting to please them sexually.

[–]countrymace -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

She's essentially saying that you need to figure out how much sex is needed to make each person feel sexually satisfied and loved. She's also saying that sex and affection are not the same thing, so that a woman shouldn't view a her husband kissing her or hugging her as him asking for sex. Meaning that while you might decide that sex three times a week is good for both parties, you should still have affection and physical contact on the others. Sex is a form of affection, but there are many forms of affection. Couples shouldn't avoid other types of affection when they don't want to have sex.

[–]CAWitte 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I disagree. I think the author is twisting some things just to fit an agenda. Literally on one breath she says “separate sex from affection”. Then a few paragraphs down, she literally says it’s a part of sex.

[–]countrymace -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I’m not saying the article is good or doesn’t have an agenda. But to say that sex should be separated from affection and is also a form of affection is a true statement. Spouses do need the affection of sex, but they also need other forms of affection. If a woman views all forms of affection as sex, then she will reject all affection when she’s not horny, even if the affection isn’t sexual. Men need to be able to touch their wives without her always viewing it as an attempt to have sex. As far as the article goes, I don’t see any issue with this particular statement. Do you feel that sex is the only form of affection that matters? Or do you feel that all affection is sexual? If so, you won’t agree on this point, but that is a flawed perspective.

[–]CAWitte -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But that’s not what the article said. The article said “separate it, but don’t separate it”. I disagree with your assertion that you should separate them as they are entwined with one another. It’s what separates us from animals. People who end up sleeping around tend to have a lot of unnecessary drama in their lives and to be honest, the author kind of saying “separate them” then saying “don’t separate them” is indicative of that. I will be honest though, my view of sex comes from a religious man’s standpoint. And yes, I am happily married.

[–]countrymace 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Okay, you obviously lack the intelligence to follow a train of logical reasoning. There is no logical problem with saying that sex is a form of affection but should be considered separate from other types of affection. Seriously, every time you hold your wife’s hand or hold her, are you trying to have sex? Do you want your wife to feel like every single time you touch her that you’re trying to initiate sex? Do you want it to be so that if she’s not horny or in the mood, you can’t touch her at all? When you hug your mom or kids, is that sexual too? The comment about sleeping around is moronic because it’s not even related to the idea of having affection that is separate from sex.

These articles are such bullshit and bad advice. The one thing all men have to learn about women is they DO NOT come to any of their internal feelings or perceptions in a logical manner and they will take no accountability for the impact from their decisions. The exact same women that claim they don't want to be "groped" or chased after sexually by their husbands will be the exact same ones who get immediately paranoid about you cheating the second you ease up on it and then will get passive aggressive and emotionally abusive due to their internal unease.

Also if you start asking to arrange sex then it will be a complete turn off and feel robotic to her with no passion.

I find it interesting how pretty much no-one talks about the root cause of such behavior, which we all know to be a combination of the sexual instinct and porn-culture. The former is natural whereas the latter is not, and I am pretty certain that it’s the latter that causes the “pesting”.

The article is saying that men are GUILTY and thus WRONG for behaving that way. But the question we need to ask is “who is responsible for the programming?”.

Imagine the alcohol and ad-industry complaining about ppl being drunk. Would THEY have a right to complain, given that (1) they love alcohol-addicted ppl because the more is consumed the more $ is made, and (2) they heavily advertise how “funny” and “cool” it is to be drunk through the entertainment industry? There answer is “yes and no”. The alcohol/ad-industry is at least HALF responsible for ppl being addicted to alcohol, thus in order to eliminate such behavior, they themselves NEED to fix their behavior (e.g. less toxic advertising, etc.) in order for said behavior to change.

Well, the same logic applies to sex-addicted ppl. Half the blame does certainly go towards men simply because even as an addict, you HAVE the choice to overcome it. However, anyone who knows anything about a serious addiction knows that it’s definitely no easy task, which is why MOST addicted ppl need outside intervention to help them overcome their addiction. Well, where is the help for those “pesting” men in the article when women THEMSELVES not only engage in behavior designed to KEEP men in an addicted state (e.g. keep men sexually objectifying women), but they will do ANYTHING to keep such power in existence by supporting and defending porn-culture. Remember, no woman has a gun held to her head and is told to engage in/defend/support a porn culture, it is done by their own choice.

In other words: women are the “alcohol-industry” and porn-culture (which includes the entertainment industry) is their “advertising industry”, thus women have no right to complain unless they themselves begin to change their ways in order to help men out of their addiction…. and we all know that toxic feminists won’t ever let sexual addiction go because they base their value as humans ON sexual attraction.

What’s ironic is that the very women who take part in/defend/support a porn-culture are also the very same women who are at least half responsible for the “pesting”.

My point: either be a GOOD person and HELP others overcome an aberrant behavior, or keep your mouth shut, because doing otherwise simply means you are a parasite that feeds off of the very same energy that YOU are complaining about.

It is a new age GUYS. The male is not needed like he was a few years ago. Try to remain calm and be submissive. Women are the power of existence and do not need our power. Just surrender your manhood for now to enable the rebirth of the true male to give the women power for her existence in nature by PURE MALES to let a rebirth that is a balance of power over nature.

The wife should send him to Tinder to find a younger, more attractive female that appreciates his libido and attention. That way she will no longer be bothered by him.
