This is actually one of the main things I sympathize with women about when it comes to the asymmetries in dating. I imagine it is probably a lot like what gay men struggle with, in that basically anyone, including the most attractive man in the world is probably willing to sleep with you no strings attached assuming you are relatively attractive, but there is only a certain tier of man that would be interested in a long term committed relationship. You'd then have to play this mind game where you evaluate your own attractiveness and look for as close to an equally attractive partner, but not so attractive that they would only see you as a short term fling. I imagine that would take a toll on your psyche.

This feels obvious, but the number of men out there that just don't understand that when a women is complaining about finding a partner, it isn't because she can basically sleep with any guy in a couple of minutes on Tinder. It is actually finding one that is willing to be in a committed relationship while not also shooting themselves in the foot by settling for a relatively less attractive guy then they are actually worth. Hell even women seem oblivious to this, otherwise they'd understand why that one ultra attractive guy isn't settling down with them specifically. Like if some supermodel was interested in me, I'd know that it would be a one time thing at best. I'd hardly imagine I was truly the best guy they could ever find.

Does this seem accurate to you, or am I off base? I am really curious about the perspective of lesbian women in particular since they are outside any dynamic involving men. It was actually reading gay men's perspective that set me off on this train of thought to begin with.
