I'd say it is a shift in attention for both men and women. "The wall" happens when someone(usually used for women) stops recieving attention and validation as they once did. Usually, it happens after mid 20s. Most of the women who have hit the wall can be described as out of shape compared to their younger self and have an undesirable body count by most men. Also men earn experience with different kinds of women and detect red flags or are able to screen out women. They start to recieve attention after their mid 20s, if they improve on their physical appearance, clothes, get a nic job and have a financial stable status.

So I'd say the wall is a byproduct of the dating market. If you have options you won't tolerate anyone, because you can easily replace them for someone better. And everyone is replacable. If you are out of options you will tolerate taking shit and lower the standarts. That's why some women "suddenly" are able to settle in their 30s and complain about not finding any man available as the majority of them in that age range are not looking for something serious. The missing part is that they are not willing to settle down to these women, but prefer younger ones. If a man in his 30s can pull a girl from her early to mid 20s good for him. It is what it is and that's the reality of dating market.

I don't think its more of a looks/youth thing. it's more of an inexperience thing.

If you never had sex before it seems like an amazing goal and you would do anything to have sex.

After you've had sex you start to realize it might not have been worth all of the effort you had to put in to get to that point to make yourself seem attractive to her for that short and moderately enjoyable experience (realistically, most people are not that good at sex).

Alternatively, if you're single, and you're just sitting around you can just say "hey I haven't watched porn in a while", get exactly what you want, and that will be basically as good or better than the "real" thing with 1/50th the effort.

So to guys in their 30s who realize this, the woman now has to offer something to him besides just sex, which can be tough to do because a guy in his 30s kind of has his life figured out at that point and doesn't have as many "gaps" that he needs help with.

Assuming you haven't done anything to abuse your body (smoking, not wearing sunscreen, etc), women can still be hot when they're in their 30s. I wouldn't ever think "the only reason I'm not willing to date her is because I'm looking for someone that is 5% hotter".

I've never been not horny since the debut of puberty almost 30 years ago.

Even so, my standards from 1999 aren't significantly different from those in 2024. Should my marriage collapse, I probably won't try 16 year olds - but then again, I had little success with 16 year olds when I was 16, lol.

This is very rare. Certainly doesn't match my experience or the experience of the hundreds of men age 30 and above with whom I speak or spoke about these things.

I think you're looking at at inaccurately.

"The Wall" refers to a personal change of a person that isn't completely contingent of how they are perceived by others of a specific age group or preference.

For example, a women in the period of "The Wall" would be viewed as objectively unattractive compared to her 20 year old self (assuming no weight change has occurred) by men younger, older, or same age as her. It has less to do with how she is perceived by specific others, attraction-wise, and more so about how age steadily decreases our biological attractiveness.

A refutation might be placed in reference to a kind of man who is exclusively attracted to older women (cougar fetish); such a preference is rare of course.
