As someone who was the shortest in my class up until grade 11(i went from 5ft to 6ft 2). I can tell you that the hatred from women was soul crushing and relentless. Men would at least be your friend and I rarely had problems with men, for the most part they were respectfull. Women on the other hand were utterly disrespectful. Conversations with women could have gone 3 ways:

1) 70% they were rude/disrespectful.

2) 25% they judt ignored me, especially if it was a group conversation and there are taller men around.

3) 5% they were nice, usually the bare minimum of what is required of them by society to be respectful.

As I stated before, i am now 6 2. The negative attention had ceased Immediatly. It was truly eye opening and i am glad i made it out alive.

As a short guy, I can say that while I’ve met a few men who thought they were superior to me because they were taller, it pales in comparison to the utter loathing and cruelty I’ve experienced at the hands of women.

Many people are mindless heightists who move about the world completely convinced taller men are better people, but women are by far the most shallow and mean of this type.

The mental gymnastics some women will go through to justify what is a completely irrational and childish prejudice is startling to me.

Some of these women are intelligent and progressive and yet hold a perspective for which they should be ashamed.

The reason there are so many tall CEOs is because short men’s lives are so bitterly circumscribed by how women view them, most give up and coast through life. It’s easy to be confident when people support you and look up to you. Try being confident when all you receive is rejection, dismissal and patronising comments based on a meaningless trait over which you have no control.

Short men are able to compete, they just may have to work harder for it. Thus the short man complex. But now that females are in the work force and competing with men, maybe they too are now experiencing some of these disadvantages. Maybe it's not a short man complex. But a short complex. Women in the work place trying to compete with men are usually just as savage, ruthless, and eager to prove themselves as a short male. They're both short, and have to work harder than their tall peers to be noticed and treated as an equal. Maybe the taller men do better as they are constantly validated by society and don't deal with the societal issues that plague shorter men. The anxiety and stress around heightism can carry over into other aspects of life. The same way one might say that men make more because they don't have to deal with the societal issues that women deal with. The anxiety and stress that comes from certains expectations put on females can carry over into the work place. Regardless, success is possible either way, but just invovles more hurdles. In terms of dating, they have a thing called marginal rate of substitution. Regardless of what women say, they're attracted to signs of power. Height, money, friends, drugs, other women, money, socialization, muscles, skills or experience. It's always some form of currency that shows that the male has something. And besides height, money is also an indicator of power. With marginal rate of substitution, it's basically a way of saying in the eyes of women, a may has to make X amount of money to make of his the difference in height to be considered desirable. The going rate is about "5- foot-0 guy would need to make $325,000 more, 5'4" man would need to make $229,000 more than a 6' man to have equal appeal; a 5'6" man would need $183,000 more; a 5'10" man would need $32,000 more". They have to make that much more money to just as successful in the dating market as a regular or poor guy who was at 6'. Replace the money with common decency and you may get a reason for why the girls dating the tall bad boy find themselves being treated poorly. The tall guy doesn't have to be sweet, the same way the pretty girl doesn't have to nice. But thats just a maybe, as short men and women can be assholes too, but in general people who are considered attractive, get away with more shit.

I'm gonna have do disagree a bit. Oftentimes I see Short Man Syndrome as a response to how short guys have been treated but they also weigh the treatment differently depending on which group insults them.

I don't disagree with you that other guys clown short guys as much as women do. If you see the height related posts on Subtle Curry Dating (Facebook group for south asians) the comments making fun of short guys tend to come from other guys. Guys are quick to throw other guys under the bus to get laid or look good to girls unless the other guy is a close friend.

However, most short guys are straight and they want female attention. It's gonna sting more when the group they want sexual attention from makes fun of them. You can ignore other guys because really there's not much you want from them. Harder to ignore women when you're straight. Now this doesn't mean I think Women are somehow more at fault. You can always get male friend, male respect, ect... It's rather easy to be masculine enough to be liked toward men, even with obvious defects.

You are correct that there is a subconscious bias amongst men that applies positive attributes and traits to taller men. This is especially apparent in leadership roles, which has been empirically substantiated through research. There has also be research to suggest that short men, on average, earn less than their taller counters parts. Of course, being smaller/shorter as a child up until early adulthood, leaves you vulnerable to being bullied by other men.

Now that we got that out of the way...

You also acknowledged that women discriminate against short men.

Does that mean they shouldn’t be upset regarding women superficially passing them over for being short? What about how woman bluntly proclaim that the men must be of a certain height in order to be considered “suitable” for them to date when the woman is short herself? How does the way men being biased short men, have anything to do with women selecting short men to do date? They are two separate issues. And yes, men respect tallness too, but unlike women, men can learn to respect short men if they prove that it's not a hindrance. Mugsy Bogues, Spud Webb, and Darren Sproles are examples from sports of men who became all stars despite their short statures.

I really don't experience most of what people talk about when it comes to "short"men admittedly I'm like 5'9" (5'10 on a good day if I pick out my afro lol) which I guess is average but I'm still shorter than most of my guy friends and definitely sub 6'.

Besides some light teasing it really doesn't come up much. Dating and relationship wise it's never been a problem either. One of my friends is shorter than me (5'7") and honestly I don't even notice it most of the time.

It could just be me coping subconsciously but I actually enjoy being this height, I feel like I'm in goldilocks range.

For one clothes shopping is really easy, because I fit perfectly in mediums, I can squeeze comfortably in a small, and larges don't look too big on me. (Extra smalls and larges are out of reach though)

I don't really have to look up too far or look down too low to see or talk to people or in relationships hugs and kisses aren't too challenging either (positions in bed are also alittle easier without a big height differences). I also feel like comparatively speaking to my weight my body is pretty proportional. I'm not saying it's a problem but a lot of tall guys I know have a pretty lanky/thin build.

I wouldn't mind being an inch or two taller but I don't really think it changes much but I definitely don't want to be like 6+.

Contextual background: hight of the average combat arms: infantry, Rangers, special forces, is 5’8” for GenX, 5’9” for millennials (thanks boomers for smoking while pregnant with GenX).

In fact, you will find very few tall men in combat arms. They have a really hard time with core strength. Obstacle course, endurance without food and water, road marching with over your body weight on your back, is really difficult for them. Also, IMO, having so much just given because of hight, really impacts their ability embrace the suck.

Every glacially peak that mankind has survived, since we developed the spear, we walked in about 6’”1 and walked out about 5’6”. And this isn’t food related either. We adapted to those environments. It wasn’t lack of food, it’s body design for endurance.

So, long story short... hight does not equal survival. This is especially true in a world where the bigger you are, the easier it is to shoot you (spear, arrow, or bullet).

Women though... behavior acted out by a 5’4” man that women would call “short man syndrome” would be considered sexy if done by a 6’2” man. Some say this is biological, some say it’s social conditioning.

Men interact with men differently than women, especially in the US. When men are in an argument there is a “I might hit or shoot you” aspect. It’s why men tend to be much better at escalating and de escalating aggression... we have to. Some men might give each other crap, but most wont be anywhere near as brutal as a majority of women.

What no one is saying is this: the reason a large percentage of women want tall men today is because they feel so masculine that they need to be physically dominated to feel feminine. This is because sally feels too much like a “Sam” and can only feel like a woman if she is next to a mountain. Female insecurity at its finest.

I’m 5’8” and the only women that have made my hight an issue needed to have outside influences to feel feminine. Those confident in themselves never seemed to have an issue with it. Nurses, psychiatrists, Blackhawk mechanics, students, engineers... plenty of different kinds of women, White Black or Asian and education levels don’t have an issue.... but, if she thinks she is a special little princess? Yea, big issue over hight.

So although some men might make it an issue, short man syndrome is 99% female. It’s often the exact same behavior, between tall and short, but that is only accepted by women when the man is tall. Why? Because the modern western woman... let’s call her Karen, needs a mountain next to her just to feel feminine.

The reason for the hypocrisy of most women when it comes to the height/weight debate, is because being fat is often seen as disgusting. Whereas being short is not seen as disgusting, more often it is off putting at the most.

One can be very attractive and short.

I’m glad someone else noticed this. I personally think men are more harsh and critical towards short men then women are.

Men are a big part of height discrimination too. They just see short men as a joke, nothing to be taken seriously. Although this goes for both genders

Men give respect to any men who are physically powerful, and while height is a factor, a short guy who is strong and confident will get respect. Otherwise the disrespectful guy will get his ass kicked.

I honestly did not consider a height to be of any real significance until I started dating in college. I was surprised to find out the extent some women really love height. Some women really don’t care at all, and some only want to have a man taller than them, but some women have an absolute fetish for tall men.

No use complaining about how the world is, accept facts and move on. There are plenty of women shorter than you and who don’t care.

Very few news anchorwomen are homely. Looks, height, fitness level - people are naturally attracted to pretty people and if I concede that there is one form of privilege, that would be it. They say prettier people get hired more often, get more money initially and throughout, and get more opportunities for advancement. Shouldn't we hire people based on their merits? Or does my surgeon need to be talented AND handsome? I don't care if he's as homely as a toad - I just want a capable heart surgeon! Don't most people?

Is society promoting good looking people in the same way women "promote" good looking men by reproducing with them?

Isn't "I'd make you the father of my child" the same as "We're going to make you CEO?"

Isn't that often the SAME GUY?!? The highly prized social alpha?

I don't think it's a men do it or women do it thing. I think society does it. Society likes beautiful people. Like that Marilyn Manson song. Blue Pill society does it.

Do we pick the best anchorwoman for the job? I recall one local news celebrity that got promoted to the desk and she had a competitor that most felt was the better person for the job but the big-boobed blonde got it. Kind of pissed me off - the blonde looked more like a "weather girl" and the other woman had a more professional look to her. Not unattractive either, just not as "barbie" as the victor.

Here's the thing. Is there a corollary between intelligence and height and looks? Are "genetically desirable people" often smarter too? Are less attractive people less smart?

Maybe the tall handsome CEO has more genetic blessings mentally. Maybe he worked harder. Maybe it WASN'T privilege that got him there. Or, did his height and looks HELP? And if so, how much? That's a form of preferential hiring too just like gender-based quota hiring is. (Ironically that causes more sexism because then people think she only got the job because of her gender.) Some people believe it's ALWAYS BAD to hire people not based on merit and accomplishment. But... what if people will FOLLOW a handsome CEO more enthusiastically? Respect him more? Agree with him more? What if they do

Most CEOs are guys that come from rich families.

Rich people tend to be taller than poor people. First becouse a good nutrition a dieting habits during youth improves growth, second becouse wealthy men have better genetics and they have a vast pool of women to chose from even better genetics to pair with.

In short, height it's not only a genetic marker but also a status one.

None of this really applies to me personally. I've never had a man put me down and I've rarely had women put me down for my height (the only recent time that comes to mind was an ugly former stripper that I used to work with....then COVID came along and I was played an integral part in her getting laid off 🤷).

Personally, I've found that race plays the biggest part in how a woman views height. In general, black women are straight-up nasty to short men. White women typically just won't date short men. Asians and Hispanics tend to be more open to dating short men (less so if they are western born and whitewashed).

I do believe that this hatred against short men is more cultural than biological.

This is total bullshit.

I NEVER thought about my height once in my life before social media. Never occurred to me. I thought about my dog shit frame, but never my height.

The weird thing is, when I was a kid I don't really think girls even cared that much about height. One of the Chads in my high school was a turbo manlet and several of the tallest guys in my HS were considered gross by the girls. I will admit that the biggest Chads were 6' or more, though.

Women can date tall men without shitting on short men.

Tall men are elevated to the top of the male hierarchy by men.

Not with height alone they're not. I've been intimidated and beaten up by shorter guys and I've beaten up taller guys. Intra-male status is much more determined by frame size. A tall framecel will be worshiped by women but get little respect from men.

Back when I was using ODS a lot I was surprisingly successful.I can admit I'm not good with taking pictures because a lot of women I met up with assumed I was short.when we would meet up and they will see that I was actually 6-3, they would seem more excited and interested in me.

I have been in many male safe spaces in my life: the military (combat) l, wild land fire, and basic maintenance and agriculture

When men are put into these environments they quickly develop a hierarchy affording respect to all, and slightly staturous individuals had just as much of a chance as anyone to rise to a warrant officer, commander, or a ground colonel.

What I think a lot of men need nowadays, is to band together and make more safe spaces for themselves.

Women like these were not seen a fashionable a few years ago.

But regardless of this, the idea that tall men are attractive was not something men decided it was something women are attracted to so we decide to attribute it as attractive. Not to mention regardless of whether or not society deems these people CEO worthy doesnt change the fact that short men date women not men. Its women who reject men for being short not some business. So I think the complaint during dating is fair to be leveled at women for being shallow. Especially when fat women do get mad at men for being shallow, not even just fat women all women.

I came across the 4 hour body and it is quit interesting since i am interested in strenght training and the book used the principle of zatsiorsky (i can't spell the name right) who is knowledgable. Imo if you are a beginer, it is really a great book to start.

Tim Ferry has a quit interesting view of stuff Aggregate the best findings to have an optimal program (economic, sport training, etc) to take a minimal time with a maximal outcome.

Joe Rogan discussed this once on his channel I believe Alpha men are chosen by men as well, even if that means they admit it's not them. For survival of species, knowing the alpha they choose will get all the women and they wont. they still will follow him if it benefits them. Even if it means less mating choices for themselves. They will gladly follow someone who is a better hunter for example or fastest runner because he will be able to lead the pack and ensure survival.

I guess it's the same with humans,
