This reminded me of the attitudes women, at least from what I've seen online, tend to have toward fleshjacks and stuff like that. It's very negative, often calling it creepy or weird.

My friends and I were just discussing this the other day. It's my opinion that if they can get a decently priced robot that can give sexual pleasure that is 60% of what a real woman can give then it will end society as we know it. Most men would settle for 'ok' sex in exchange for having it when they want it, as often as they want, and with none of the financial risk that a marriage carries.

It's because a good bit of feminism is there to promote a sexual/reproductive strategy that's advantageous to females....specifically the less attractive females that tend to gravitate toward feminism. Don't these people get it already that things like video games and similarly porn and now sex robots cover human urges that would otherwise be dealt on fellow human beings? IMO "sex robots" will soon be overtaken by sex robots linked to VR. They don't need to look real, just feel and move real. They don;t need to get the eyes right, because it will be in virtual reality. The best thing about this will be if they can have it link to another person, this means you are having "real" virtual sex, in that it isn't you just jacking off to porn, but actually controlled by another human being.

Getting AI to think and move in a human-like way enough to be really convincing I think is VERY far off. Look at computer games, we can make graphics look almost 100% real now but as soon as you see the characters move or the AI do stuff suddenly you're ripped from the illusion. So we'll come up with realistic sex DOLLS far quicker than we will proper "sex androids". But if they have it link to the Internet and have real people control the dolls, now we're talkin. I guess they could master simple sex programs for AI, like "Blowjob AI" or something, which wouldn't be able to be very spontaneous, but would still be pretty awesome. Masturbation aids which can pass the Turing test could be VERY dangerous to normal emotional development, not only for young men but all young people. This could make it harder to have normal relationships with other people, even when sex doesn't have anything to do with it. Masturbation and sex toys is fine, but we've never lived in a world where machines could trick us into thinking they're sapient, at least not when it comes to the level of emotional intimacy that sex involves by its very nature. I'm in favor of personal liberty where ever possible, so I wouldn't call for a ban before this kind of product even really is available, but it's definitely a potential problem that should be investigated and discussed thoroughly from every possible angle before it becomes a reality. The idea of sex robots gets even scarier if we consider what could happen if artificial intelligence achieves actual sapience. We could end up with a culture that supports the rape of sapient sex slaves just because said slaves are non-human, and that's not cool. And don't forget: it wouldn't just be men enjoying these and possibly damaging their own emotional development, women would as well. Does that sound like a good thing to you? Ethics of human-robot relations can get VERY deep and sexuality is only a piece of the puzzle too.

Is answering misandry with misogyny the best option? This unfair bias isn't even present in the source link, and what's with putting words in the mouths of the people the article is talking about? They're not even identified as feminists in the article! All I see is a quote from one of them making the claim that sex robots could reinforce harmful stereotypes, and that's unequivocally a very serious, very likely possibility... Again, for everyone of all genders. Do you like when harmful stereotypes are reinforced? Because these would reinforce negative stereotypes against men too! Can you imagine a world where women largely have given up dating men and men have largely given up dating women just because sex robots are easier for everyone to relate to than real human beings? That's what can happen when emotional growth is stunted, that's what can happen when harmful stereotypes are reinforced rather than challenged.
