Ummmm my 3 year old Nephew gets up on a step stool with his momma to help her cook. She lets him do small tasks like hand her seasoning, a fork if she needs it, etc. He loves feeling useful and learning!

Lol I've said this story before, but my sister's medical course at Oxford which ya know is supposed to hold the brightest and the best... had TWO not one but TWO men come down with scurvy. All they ate was chicken nuggets the doctor literally told them if they had eaten ketchup with those nuggets they wouldn't have got scurvy. Absolute fucking idiots.

I don't know where these men live, but where I live in the supermarket you can buy plenty of already made salads and other healty-ish meals. The most you have to do is put them in the microwave or the oven. If if you're so inadequate or old (and at this point someone should be helping you) that you can't boil pasta and add sauce from a jar, cheap pre-made food is aplenty. But I guess it's better to die of scurvy then do some lowly female task that is using a pot.

Tbh this was a culture shock for me. In my house growing up both parents cooked. My dad made and still does make, some bad ass meals. My mom as well, they periodically cook together. My dad has his own go to cookbook with his favorites marked. Same thing for my grandparents, they cooked together also.

My ex who was low value, couldn't even make rice. His mom cooked, made their plates and everything. When she wasn't home they ate hotdogs and cereal.

When I started dating a high value man, he cooked for me or we cooked together. I feel what happens in the kitchen defines the man heavily. Does he cook and clean?

Lmao my nvex was like this. The smallest bit of vegetable that's not tomato sauce on pizza or in ketchup would cause meltdowns and picking his food apart in a way that toddlers would get disciplined for. I warned him about how vegetables aren't just there to become skinny buuut according to him you can live on sandwiches just fine.🤦‍♀️

When I went to live alone I didn't know how to cook. I'll be honest it was my fault, I wasn't used to do it at home and was lazy and didn't like cooking at all. But then I started doing it and learning because it's an essential skill. So why can't these men also learn? Not being used to it is no excuse.

This is absolutely insane. I don’t think I have a single man in my family that couldn’t cook real food for themself should their partner die (although a lot of the older ones are still heavily reliant on their wife, they still understand and have participated in “feminine” chores), and I didn’t even know this was a low bar I should feel proud of.

Also I know some people will be like “Oh but he’s grieving!!!” Fucking and??? This tells me he never once stepped up and helped his now dead wife in the kitchen, even when she was sick he was feeding them all garbage or expecting her to still do it. My late husband was the main cook in our house because I do not enjoy it, but I’m just now coming to terms with how uncommon and looked down on that is. Jfc why did we make “able to feed yourself” a bad thing???

My parents should've divorced a long time ago, but my father won't leave because he'd literally die of his own neglect without my mom to take care of him. And my mother won't leave because she knows this and couldn't deal with the guilt. So I guess they're just going to tolerate each other until one of them drops dead.

My SO's adult son didn't know how to use a pan while he lived with his parents or siblings, but he picked it up real quick when he moved to his own place in a foreign country and started to cook real meals and pies. As for the cleaning chores, he has always been diligent with it.

There is NOTHING in the XY chromosome that makes them incapable of cooking or cleaning their place. But oh mEn ArE sO obLiviOUs, tHaT's so CuTe!

I don’t understand why cooking and cleaning are chores only restricted to women. Cooking is a skill and everyone, I mean everyone regardless of gender should be able to feed themselves according to their taste or preference etc. As for cleaning, men can operate fucking machines in the factory yet can’t figure out basic household chores and that too with wide variety of information available on internet.

I could understand like with someone who has dementia for one example. In his case he can learn very easy to cook. Their are boxed meals where you can cook everything in one pot or pan. You can put chili in crockpot on low to cook for while. Making burgers and hot dogs is so easy. Their is so many easy meals to make their is no excuse. Their is stuff like Air Fryers. Instant pots is easy to cook in. I made small tenderloin and fresh veggies in one. It did not take long time and was so good. Their is so many cook books and recipes on internet. He can start simple.

The guy I’m currently talking to is almost 40 and doesn’t know how to cook. The last time he tried learning a new dish, he said he almost burned his apartment down. He’s slowly learning, but it’s still a major turn off/red flag. I just can’t fathom any grown person cruising through life not knowing how to cook.

Also, his taste palate is that of a 9 year old. Has never eaten anything outside of burgers, Chinese, pizza and mexican food... usual kid food. Like, wtf.
