I feel like I’m not welcome and don’t belong anywhere. I don’t have many friends and I would often go do things alone. People would just give me weird looks or be rude. I don’t know if it’s because of my appearance or what. I remember eating in a restaurant by myself and a group of boys my age (late teens) were walking by my table when they were leaving. All four of them gave me a mean look. I don’t know why.

Now, in my county, I’m not allowed to go to a restaurant or to any events or theaters or anything like that. I can’t even go to the gym. If I want to get out of the house I can go to the grocery store or a park. I feel so alone.

I made Christmas cookies for one of my only friends. He declined them and said he has a new girlfriend and doesn’t want to speak to me anymore. I’m a girl too, so I guess I understand a little bit, but I’m still hurt. My few other friends have pretty much stopped talking to me because I can’t go out and do things anymore. The only friends I have left are my parents.

After due consideration, I decided I ain't gonna take that other job I've been offered. It would probably cause burnout more than anything just because of the long commute distance from home and it just would generally be inconvenient for me in so many ways.

On another note, I don't want to think about work right now, so I randomly thought of something else.

Do you guys think it's normal to only have one hobby? Or to have one hobby that encompasses or is somewhat related to all your other hobbies?

I think if I were doing online dating my preferences would go:

Age - 40 to 60

Height - not particular

Race - not particular

Build - athletic, gotta be active and in decent shape

Income - 100k or less if you’re cool with dating a breadwinner woman

Education - prefer at least a BA but don’t care if you’re smart and enjoy culture (literature, art, etc — and yes i understand a lot of educated guys don’t like this stuff and they bore me too.)

Don’t care if you’ve been divorced or have kids (most men in this age range will). If you have adult grandkids though that’s a hard pass.

Bonus for bald men but only the ones who keep it tight. If you looking like homey the clown keep it moving.

My family is going out for dinner on Thanksgiving because my dad can't maneuver stairs and both my daughter and I have them. So I was not going to have to cook, though I planned to make a few pies for my dad and son-in-law and deviled eggs for my daughter since that's her favorite.

Well, my elderly neighbors called my husband and asked if we were cooking on Thanksgiving and if we could bring them plates since they have no place to go. One is a double amputee (both legs) and blind in one eye, and the other is his caretaker. They're brothers. So it looks like I'm going to be cooking after all. After a while being again single I just remembered - interacting with women and couples - how draining can be to have to cater and pander to the female need for emotional reassurances and validation. It may be a cultural thing (as always say here I'm not American and thus things may be different there) but here most women demand (or take for granted) this kind of emotional labor by their bf and sometimes even friends. And no one talks about that and it's crazy. Sometimes having a gf basically end up to have to listen every day to them vocalize their constant internal struggles and then lie to them (yes, usually you aren't supposed to say the truth) in order to ease their anxiety sometimes even over totally minor things which as I said is a very draining and soul crashing experience. After a while you end up like the shell of yourself, spiritually crashed and - that's the worst part - unable to do the same with them because ironically enough they cannot stand when men ask to return the favor ("male fragility" is not sexy, you know?). It can be sad to be alone but living that kind of situations is much better? I don't think so. Inb4 I don't think that all women are like that nor that all relationships are like that, it's just that it's so widespread that is not uncommon either so yeah, you've to be lucky

I really don’t want to see my family on Thanksgiving. I know they’ll bug me about when I’ll start dating again. My husband died four years ago and he was the only man I’ve ever been with. CMV: It is not yellow fever (or jungle fever, or white fever, etc) if your disproportionate attraction toward that particular race is based on imprinting that took place while you were a child, teenager, and young adult. That is to say, if as a child you were surrounded by people of primarily one race (e.g. East Asian), and your first childhood crush was east asian, and then in middle and high school you were surrounded by east Asian people of the opposite gender, and then as a young adult you continued to find East Asian people attractive, you don't have yellow fever, it's just who you find most attractive based on your experiences and development.

East Asian can be swapped out with black and white to apply to the other "types" of fevers.

I'm not talking about finding all races attractive, and then as an adult making a concerted effort to only have sex with or date one race. That's more suspicious. All I'm arguing is that your environment as a child and teenager heavily impacts what you find attractive as your brain is developing, and that can influence someone to find one race disproportionately attractive compared to other races.

So tonight we went to visit my man's mom in the hospital, and were heartened by how much better she is looking since she started dialysis. She has some color back in her face, is able to stay off her breathing machine all day and has just made a miraculous recovery given where she was at this time last week, when we were all fearing the worst.

We had a great visit, stayed through dinner and only left when she started getting sleepy. We picked up some groceries on the way home so it was probably an hour or an hour-and-a-half before we got back, and as we pulled into the driveway, the phone rang. It was Mom calling to ask when we were going to come visit her.
