I am so sick and tired of always having to go out alone because my friends always got somewhere else they have to go or events to attend. Don't get me wrong I would be fine with having to go out alone nearly every week, I just wish to go out with friends at least once every three months.

I had trouble sleeping last night because I saw a TikTok that made me start worrying about the loose skin I'm going to have from losing weight. I will never get to see what my real upper limit is. I ruined my body forever.

My only hope is that someday I will have the money to get the skin removed and to get a facelift and all that, but even then there is no way to know how effective that will be. I'll never get to be at my peak in my 20s or even know what that was like.

It's like you are here on this planet. It's this huge coincidence, and you just sputter out in a miserable decline. That is your one go at it, and it is nothing. I try to console myself with absurdism and enjoying being in nature, but the hopelessness of it all catches up to me from time to time.

Some women, the smart ones are going out in real life, frequently attending events, activities, hobbies ect and patiently observing behavioural traits of men over a period of time.

How he behaves amongst others and traits that can't be easily faked or determine by a curated online picture.

There are men out there but we are hiding and we are also watching women to, we are mentally swiping left on women we interact with all the time.

Us men are playing the long game because we can, it's time for women to take the initiative and start looking. We are not coming to you anymore, those games don't work anymore.

Any women that comes my way who I mentally swipe right on in real life I am asking myself " does she deserve to have my kids and be present with them while I'll deal with the world and all it's pressures and demands, that for me unlike her doesn't yield any enduring emotional benefit for me greater than my children"?

If young men thought like this, they would be able to withstand the most sultry and attractive woman and demand that she prove to him why he should commit to her.

How much do you think the endless stream of attractive people is warping our sense of what is acceptably attractive?

In the mid 2000s this guy was the heart throb of many young women. Who is this guy? Who knows. I know his name is Alex, but a lot of people would use his photos to catfish. I think I might have been MySpace friends with his real account, but who knows. Regardless, at that time, this guy was the ideal emo boy.

Despite this, and despite many women having fondness for his look, I think nowadays he would be described as mid. Not only that, the woman at the time would know that this guy was essentially a model to our generation, and it wouldn't really affect who they dated in their real life.

Now, to be attractive on TikTok, you need hypermasculine and more conventionally attractive features for example this guy who I just randomly found on Google.

Also, as evidenced by r/tinder, plenty of decent looking men are struggling to get matches whereas the ones who clean up are usually tall and hypermasculine men with the same looks as these men on TikTok.

This thread is about looks. There's all this talk about an average looking guy not being really average and thus irrelevant if he can attract women based on charisma or social skills. Isn't that the entire point? If you can max out in other areas and do well even if you aren't born with the right height, race or face then blackpill points are moot. If you're going to say an average looking charismatic socially competent guy has a major advantage over an average looking autistic socially stunted guy. I mean, no shit.

Do you think a buff fitness instructor who's buff because he moves heavy things for work, or a skinny software developer because he's shown mastery over a valued craft that earns more money would be more desirable? Does it depend on age?

Obviously the software developer can work out too but it's easier to get in the lifting when it's part of your job description. Assuming they're the same height but the fitness instructor talks to more girls for work and therefore has more charisma.

Looking at the truerateme guide, I would say I am a 4.5 and I date/have dated between 3.5 and 5.5.

This seems totally reasonable and obtainable for most men i.e. you look average and will be able to attract women above and below you in looks.

I think too many men stacy chase and the FYP has deluded them into thinking the bare minimum for women is a 6. What I mean by this is that men will think a 6 is a 4. I had this problem in middle school. Looking back, the first couple girls I liked were way out of my league. they were "cute" but not "hot" therefore I thought they were average and within my league.

I am definitely attracted to the girls I've been with, otherwise I wouldn't have been with them, but I had to learn what my league actually was. Once I did I was more consistently able to get women.

I also want to add that most people I know fall into the same range as me and are dating within the same range as well. This is what I am trying to get at and articulate when I talk about all the people I know from high school and college or when I go to the store or the mall. It is just average people dating other average people and being happy about it. Maybe living in a large metropolitan area would change that, but living in a small/midsize city this is what I see.

What was the moment for you that made you realize how important looks are?

For me I was in middle school and I enjoyed skateboarding. I was pretty good at it too. Despite being good at it, I noticed the kids who looked more like your typical "skater boy" would get more attention from girls and people would just assume they were good where as people would assume I wasn't very good.

someone should randomly sample 100 people ages 20-40 from the us population, put them both a on a looks maximizing program for a year, and see which gender turns out increasing their looks rating the most, and the effort required to get there, as well as success from the opposite sex.

I bet you, if everyone stuck to the program (which would include weight loss, grooming, skin care, dressing) for a year, the distribution would be skewed tightly to the right for women, with most being in the 7-9 range, while the distribution of mens' look would be more flat still, with a lot of men STILL below the 5/10 range due to limiting factors such as heigh/baldness/poor facial features

Men have to do so much to even be slightly attractive to women and even then if you are not tall you aren’t attractive. I know a good looking funny 5’9 guy who is very fit and women just don’t like him. It seems like height is the barrier for most men.

There is absolutely a looks threshold to clear but I don't think the bar is that high. Obviously if you are very goodlooking you will kill it on OLD, but I've seen a lot of profiles of men who do well and men who don't. The main difference is photo selection in terms of subject matter and context. Guys who get a lot of matches and do well have high quality pictures of them that project a wholesome extroversion; the pictures show they have a healthy social life and a variety of different hobbies (real or faked). These types of men provide an impression to women that they are interesting, have good social skills, and are also liked by others (preselection).

The guys who complain about getting 'no matches' simply don't stand out. They aren't goodlooking enough to be swiped on looks alone but also don't infer anything special about their other less visible traits so they seem boring. It's also obvious a lot of men who struggle with dating are the opposite of "wholesome extrovert" and this is conveyed in their blah or offputting descriptions, prompts, unsettling facial expressions etc. The amount of guys swipeable on looks alone is a lot smaller, so the biggest room for excellence is in conveying that you're socially competent and well-adjusted.

TLDR Men who do well on OLD aren't on the whole esp better looking than men who do poorly, if at all. Just-be-well-adjusted pill.
