Men also have significantly more upper body strength, and in general (not always) do less child care than women. Men are also viewed, wrongly in my opinion, as less valuable, primarily because seeds are cheap, but eggs are pricey.

On Brazil it became part of constitution that the law can be about specific groups. So we have some bizarre laws like "Emotional abuse." and the law say specifically that's just for women. Middle East has a lot of examples. Someone on the grounds of being a woman is not allowed to do the same as a man.

In US you have the issue with toplessness being illegal in some states based on if someone is a women. Right now the right to not go through pregnancy was taken away from women in some states. Pretty scary.

When you consider equal rights for men and women, take a stance of human rights. Then you can start with sex based differences of human and see how a human gets less opportunity based on those differences, which is sexism and leads to inequality. For example the basic human right to have access to free menstrual products so to not have to walk around with blood streaming down legs and sitting in their own filth doesn’t exist in US. In India this lack of right leads to even worse cases of girls not being able to access school and work do to menstruating. So someone who happens to have a uterus is at a disadvantage to someone who does not. That creates inequality. Human rights are breeched.

Then there could be social things. These ones these days are not as prevalent in US. By law men and women should be equal technically. Though different treatment of someone based on if they are a man or woman still does happen. This inequity existing is breaching human rights.

I have a set of married friends who are both marines and married. M + F. They met in the marines. The F has a history of SA, and was dealing with gender based harassment. Her now husband didn’t believe her for a lot of the reasons being outlined in this thread. Like just told her she was crazy and it was in her head. An absence of current laws blatantly oppressing women or on paper discrimination just made him not believe it. Then he got his current job assignment. He escorts convicted marines to prison or something awful like that. He started to believe her after working there for a while. Not because she said anything different. But because of the prisoners he would have to escort and guard. He was required to read documentation of what they’ve done as a part of security, and sometimes they would talk to them. The vast majority of the prisoners were other male marines and I think other branches but I’d have to ask, who had been convicted of things like rape and murder of female service members.

Like many but not all mens issues womens issues aren’t surrounded by laws anymore. Legislation has been put in place on federal level to prevent that. But just because something is illegal doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, no different from any other social issue.

Womens issues surround the absence of change to actually reflect those laws.

Inequality is everywhere. Men get saddled with child support payments.

Women get saddled with child rearing.

Both genders do both. But each gender shoulder the burden of one more than the other.

Women face higher risks with sexual assault. (Pregnancy) Men get no acknowledgement of sexual assault. (Though lately it seems the world wants to pretend sexual abuse just doesn’t happen regardless of gender).

Men don’t have reproductive health care. Womens reproductive health care includes getting literal pieces of your body ripped out without pain management. (Cervical biopsy. Uterine as well).

Men can get a vasectomy. Doctors won't allow a woman to get sterilized until she's had multiple kids or reached a certain age and they have her husbands permission. If a woman knows she doesn't want kids, she should be able to be sterilized no questions asked, just like a man can. The problem is so rampant there are groups who compile lists of doctors who are willing to do the procedure as they are so hard to find. Women are largely responsible for the birth control. Men have condoms but to my knowledge there isnt a male birth control available. Pharmacies will sometime refuse to fill these prescriptions or make it difficult to obtain. A lot of birth controls can have unwanted side effects but it's the price paid to prevent pregnancy. When it comes to issues like this, family planning, women are treated as if they can't be trusted to make their own decisions but are also held responsible for any bad outcomes. You also have to look back at the history of our country and acknowledge the struggle it took to get where we are now. Women only got the right to vote in this country 100 years ago. It wasn't until the 1960's that women could open their own bank account and the 1970's that married women could have credit cards in their name without their husbands permission and maintain some control over their own finances. That wasn't that long ago. Each of those rights was a hard fought battle that men were just automatically entitled to. The attitudes and beliefs that maintained that system didnt just dissapeared overnight once the battle was wo. There are men today that still believe women are inferior and treat them as such. Women were kept out of college, kept out of jobs, the military, not allowed to be pilots or submariners. I know women who still believe a woman should never be president because they have periods and get PMS. Things are better but the mindset still exists. Men get shit on too, there is work to be done on both sides.

Women are regularly skipped for promotions or managment positions. Women are talked over, interrupted and not taken seriously. Our problems are downplayed or silenced altogether. We get paid less then the men we train or get paid less for equal work. Women are more liekly to be sexually harassed, groped, catcalled, stalked home or be treated like we aren't human. Little girls are more likely to be sexually abused as children. Women in politics are regularly insulted with sexist comments and degraded nommater how she presents herself. Women and young girls aren't able to wear shorts or a tank top in school without teachers acting like she is naked and body shaming her and embarrassing her in front of others. Women have to pay more for all the same types of products marketed towards women and make less money. Women are expected to do the most unpaid labor. Work dull time, come home and take care if the kids, clean after everyone and cook for everyone but yet still be treated like less than everyone else. Many companies don't even hire women or will throw women's resumes right into the trash in front of them no matter how qualified they are. Women who work to support the family and pay bills are sometimes seen as "trying to be a man" for literally just existing outside the home. Women are slut shamed and insulted for the same things men get high fived for and complimented. Women will be the last people on earth to be seen as human beings and respected. Young girls are taught to shave and barbie themselves up to be worth anything while boys and men can be themselves and they aren't publicly humiliated or shamed for being themselves. All of the worst insults in society are feminine in nature and if a man shows any feminine qualities or is gay he is insulted with feminine insults. Boys are taught that being a girl is a bad thing and to not be a "lil bitch", don't be a pussy, calm your tits, don't get your panties in a bunch, sissy, ypu throw like a girl, grow a pair (even though they are the most fragile part of a man's body) and women are called bitches like we are dogs.

I grew up in a secually abusive home and have seen firsthand how harmful the way society teaches men and boys to see women is. I was only 8 when my moms boyfreinds started sexually abusing me. They believed becuase of my body that I'm an object. Young boys in school would grope me and one of them stuck his hands in my underwear. We were children. Don't even get me started on high school, good fucking lord. I've worked at a bunch of places and most of them I was discriminated against becuase of my sex. Men made disgusting comments towards me and would mock me when I would disagree with them. They would talk over me or just ignore me altogether. Men have used my presence as an ego boost whenever they feel down or have a bad day. My male roomates did the same, so many men think we are below them and treat us accordingly.

Not even children and young girls are safe in America. The trending video on porn hub last month was "dad what are you doing I'm only 18". Young boys are growing up now watching porn and having that distort how they see us as if the movies and shows weren't doing enough damage already. I have seen first hand how bad it is and nobody cares enough about women to change it. Anytime a woman like myself speaks up I am insulted and told the shut the fuck up.

When the wife is expecting, we aren't at threat of losing our job. Mothers in the US have lost jobs because they are pregnant or expected back to work the next day. The maternity care in the US is awful and I think that and paternity care should be a common thing. Everyone else gets paid for 2 weeks to take care of their baby. I know it is socialism but it sounds awesome.
If a woman gets promoted, someone is going to say it is a gendered even though it is merit like 99% of them. We don't have to deal with that bs.

OP do you believe that man and women receive fair and equal treatment in the courts? Both criminal court and family courts?

If not, then are differences in treatment always due to explicit laws and guidelines directing the judges and lawyers?

Because what's written down in the law books is not always equally reflected in real life. Asking questions like thst gives narrow and meaningless answers.
