Okay so first of all, I know everyone’s experience isn’t the same. I know lots of women, often much to their dismay, regularly get hit on irl by men and have seen no change.

That said, at least according to Reddit (for whatever that’s worth), I’ve seen a lot of women noting that men don’t approach as much as they used to. This observation is often confirmed by the men in the same thread and elsewhere, who claim that, especially in the post #metoo era, they don’t want to come off as creepy, and that women have made it clear that they don’t want to be approached in places like the gym/bar/grocery store/workplace because they’re there to workout, have a good time with their friends, shop, and work (in that order).

Most men don’t want their reputation to be that of the guy who makes women uncomfortable. Not to mention, some women can be absolutely brutal in their rejections and will even go so far as to film you while she shoots you down and later upload it to the internet, especially if she doesn’t find you attractive.

I think this is why (at least from what I read) men cold approaching seems to have become less frequent. Many women have made it clear that they generally don’t want to be approached almost anywhere except on a dating app, unless they make it obvious that they want you to do so.

So ladies, would you say this phenomenon has had a net positive effect?
