If we define good man as solely the following:

Kind/nice interesting to be around, willing to commit be a lifetime partner and does the bare minimum to take care of themselves physically (such as not being grossly obese)

Then there are plenty of men out there looking for a partner. 63% of men under 30 are single. Many men struggle to get any attention from women at all. You come across these men every day but they are the invisible NPCs.

Of course that’s not quite what good man means. Really, it’s about high value good men.

Tall, good career (income amount based on location), fit, social, charming, confident, above average face, AND willing to commit.

With these men, there is a shortage because based on probabilities alone you can calculate the odds of such a guy not being common and in the era of hookup culture women are offering more and more to such men, with sex even being offered very quickly and repeatedly leading to fierce competition.

The men who want to commit can do so with ease and have dozens if not hundreds of options to select and those who don’t want to still have tons of women throwing themselves at them.

I’m reminded a lot of the job market where nowadays companies want the perfect candidate with years of experience and are fighting over the same small pool of candidates (and in tech even international companies from abroad fight over the same candidates), but the candidates who lack a few niche qualities or are only 70% of the way there get binned and thrown in the trash.

Being average and good isn’t a “good man”. Only being high value and good is a “good man”.
