I think people have a hard time separating fiction from reality, and I think that's why redpill type guys have been getting upset about the whole "dark" romance novel thing lately (even though it's been around for over a century at this point). Reading romance novels about bad boys and vampires and such are enjoyable for the same reason it's fun to look at sharks in an aquarium. The sharks are cool and fascinating, but I wouldn't want to swim with them, if that makes sense. In a broader sense, fiction has always been how people grapple with challenging ideas from a safe distance. There are fictional guys I find hot who I would never associate with if they were real people.

Also, there are different flavors of shy guy, (and gal for that matter) because people can be shy for different reasons. Let's not forget that there were serial killers who came across as shy on the surface. Sometimes, someone is shy because they just prefer to listen and observe, and my two closest friends are like that. Other times, people become shy because they've lost their ability to trust others. Those are just two possible explanations.

Idk, I find that a lot of the angriest people around here are the ones with the least nuance when it comes to their perception of others.

First, serial killers is not an opposite end of shy. But for the sake of debate let's pretend it is. 99,9% would say they choose the correct option, but what they actually choose depends on how attractive these men are and what they chose them for.

Well, sometimes even normal women will if he has qualities they find attractive. That's part of what people are pointing out. Attraction doesn't automatically disappear because a man turns out to be abusive, a criminal, or otherwise a bad person. There are definitely cases where women knew about major red flags beforehand and still chose to pursue or stay with those men.

I also think society tends to respond differently depending on who's being judged. Outside of red pill circles, women often receive relatively little criticism for repeatedly making poor dating choices. They're generally still seen as normal people who just had bad luck, while nearly all of the discussion centers on the man's behavior. He absolutely deserves blame for being abusive or violent, but that doesn't mean the woman's choices are beyond criticism if she knowingly ignored obvious warning signs.

So I don't think it's accurate to say only "trashy women" end up with those kinds of men. Sometimes that's true, but there are also perfectly ordinary women who become involved with them because they found certain traits attractive or believed they could change them. Reducing it to "trashy people date trashy people" oversimplifies a much more complicated reality.

You misunderstand the issue.

One of the main dating/relationship advice given to men by the mainstream (BluePill, feminists...) is go be "good" - kind, respectful, honest, hard-working, self-sacrificing, etc. As if dating was a meritocracy and relationships were gatekept behind being a good man.

The serial killer/drug dealer argument is simply a rebuttal of the mainstream narrative. It goes like: I am a regular guy, I cannot find a relationship despite honest effort, you tell me to be a good man and I am, but why so many bad man have no problems with dating and don't have to become good?

You may see a very similar argument about personal hygiene. "You need to shower bro", but if you go to any relationship advice subreddit you will see that men who leave skid marks on their sheets are well partnered, lol.

tl;dr It's a rebuttal/reaction to BS mainstream dating advice.

There's plenty of scientific evidence that women (especially younger women) find dark triad men attractive. Serial killers and other anti social criminals would obviously display DT traits which means by extension they would be socially charismatic.

Also it's funny how it's constantly being argued that young men are under socialized (which generally they are) like it's their fault. Human socialisation has changed radically since 2021.

I think you could've constructed better arguments. Maybe state that the fame helps convicted killers to attract more women and have literal female fans, so deduce that same level of exposure would also help a shy guy.
Your post is kind of lazy, it just reiterates that these women are somehow bad, without trying to prove it and assuming we the guys even care about this. (strictly speaking, we do care, most will just state that sex with 'bad' women is better than no sex at all.)

The issue is that the donut shop and drug dealer aren't competing in the same market, whereas the killers/rapists and shy guys are.

You can make a moral argument and say those women are just as bad, but these women that are fangirling over criminals are for the most part regular women watching serial killer documentaries in their beds and creaming over these guys, they're not associated with the criminal underworld.

The problem with people like Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgeway, is they pretended to be someone else, this nice, amazing, loving men, and manipulated the women they married and stayed with while doing the killings.

Now I’m not going to say they weren’t stupid for not noticing the signs, etc. but many people don’t notice red flags while in a toxic relationship, until it’s too late.

More members of my family have spent time in prison than I really care to count. When they've been out they've dated, and had babies with, ALL SORTS of women, including supremely 'normal' women in good, stable jobs.

This idea that it's only trash dating trash is just wrong, especially if you try to compare relative levels. My cousin is doing time right now and his ex was not exactly high class, but she wasn't a criminal....just a bit thick. She could have dated a normal, working-class guy, but instead dated my cousin, who got himself wrapped up in some small time organised crime (and is paying the price for it).

Alternatively, after years of reasonably happy marriage an old friend of mine got divorced and the ex-wife ran off with an ex-con and "former" heroin addict. You could say she was 'trashy' (she was working class), but was externally totally normal. Did not drink heavily or do drugs; had normal suburban mom vibes; was a teacher. Now she's with the "former" junkie convict leaving my buddy, your typical IT professional nerd, and their kids in the lurch.

So, yes, based on my experience and observations I genuinely DO prefer criminals above non-criminals and WAY before "shy" non-criminals. The crime and the danger (ahem, the 'excitement') is a major part of the attraction.

I have such an aversion to watching crime tv and books, but I like dark themes in romance. It’s not the same (for me). Like the actions of a serial killer are threatening to me on a level that it’s not sexy. I can so clearly see the difference, it’s hard for you guys to fully see women’s POV on this perhaps.

I think we're missing a key element in this kind of discussion. This is not to say that all psychopaths are serial killers, but psychopaths are exceptionally skilled at manipulating people. They are exceptionally skilled at hiding the fact that they are psychopaths. This is not the freaking movies where they will all have a blank emotionless stare or something; they can fake that perfectly too. The traits women like are extroversion and boldness, which are more likely to be found in these dark triad guys. Some studies support agreeableness also being a trait that correlates with sexual success.

Its such a convenient answer. You take a average or below shy guy, hes unsuccessful. He knows he is disadvantageous against confident and taller good men. But then he sees the tall confident terrible men pulling women equally as good.

Then When he comes to the obvious conclusion that bad personality, traits and mindeset doesnt matter, its just height and looks, the dismissive and rug sweeping answer is, "only terrible women want those guys". Partly Disagree.

Most women would prefer to be single, but those whom are capable of neurologically accepting a shy partner (and want to) will do so, but the number would be closer to 95-98% due to mentally ill women, and such percentages depending on the country/healthy society.

The issue isn’t these two extremes however, but the amount of humans who are not mentally ill, but have both partly subconscious and partly chosen, Selective Empathy due to Tribalism, and are willing to date the men who choose as little Empathy for as few people in their society as possible and/or use, bully/harass and socially exclude as many as they can, all because they treat her favourably.

Personally in my experiences this population of humans may be a more frequent percentage of humans than one would hope, and the men and women amongst so regularly pair-up with each other and reproduce more people with such neurological makeup.

I’m personally not compatible with such a person, and we should encourage open directness and honesty about so to only date our matches.

The problem with shy guys is that they don't put themselves out there. Known serial killer is an extreme example, but a confident, outgoing, asshole will usually do better than a shy guy, because he probably talks to way more women.
