Evolution doesn’t necessarily lead to the “best” outcome. It leads to “good enough to reproduce” outcomes. Men’s orgasms are necessary for reproduction, so men have an easy time orgasming. Women’s orgasms, while a potential incentive for women to have sex, aren’t necessary for the production of offspring.

If it was necessary for the woman to finish for children to be born, evolution would have heavily favored women who orgasm incredibly easily, and the orgasm gap wouldn’t exist.

Not every trait has to be evolutionarily advantageous. As long as it doesn't sufficiently stop organisms from reproducing, a trait will persist.

I think the female clitoral orgasm evolved to prevent injury and infection from penetration. So men's bodies are built to orgasm during intercourse, but women's bodies are built to orgasm before. But ultimately the female orgasm isn't strictly necessary for reproduction.

Probably our species benefitted from several men ejaculating inside a woman one after the other and letting the strongest sperm battle it out. The female orgasm likely evolved to require a woman a good pounding for a couple of hours before she could orgasm. Naturally, as men ejaculate fast and roll over to sleep,a woman could move on to the next man in the cave and keep doing it until she is satisfied. In the state of nature, men have nothing to lose from sex (other than potential STD risk). Women have nine months and a large amount of resources to lose, so evolution requires them to be more selective. This is probably why you never hear of women raping men.

I’m not a scientist but my explanation is that in our hunter/gatherer times, sex needed to be over and done quick to avoid being left vulnerable to potential predators for too long. And since men’s orgasm are necessary for reproducing (whereas women’s are not), men evolved to be able to cum in 99% of circumstances in just a few minutes.

How do nipples benefit men? They are not useless as they serve to frame the body cosmetically but they are not essential either.

Women as a whole do not value their genitals as much as men so the issue is smaller than it may seem though I realize that's up for debate. I'm basing this on discussions I have seen that involve real women. Women might give away their external genitals or the ability to derive genital pleasure for X million dollars, euros or whatever but men not so much.

In popular culture and feminist tripe men's affinity with their genitals has been turned into a cause for shame and belittled as regressive, juvenile or even perverted where female sexuality is presented as the prototype of true adult sexuality.

In any case there is more to sexual pleasure than friction. Flirting is a subtle form of sexual action, taking nudes of yourself or looking at your body in the mirror is a form of masturbation. There is a lot more to sexual enjoyment than orgasms. This is certainly true for men and I doubt that it's not true for women.

Also if women liked sex as much as men then women would presumably be having a lot more of it with a lot more men with less discretion which could hurt her chances of being able to rear viable offspring. Women's standards for men may not make sense as such but they at least do the job of keeping women picky about a number of traits and being picky in a variety of ways is supposed to benefit women and their offspring to a point.

Women like men only really know what feels good at the time. They cannot know what happens when the egg collides with the sperm or when the baby is born. Since there are very few porn chads to entertain all the homely women a lot of women will not have orgasms so often.

My take based on the research I have read: Orgasms release a ton of oxytocin for women, which helps to bond them to their partner (or infant in the case of birth and nursing). While female orgasm is not required to achieve pregnancy, it does slightly improve the odds of conception, and significantly increase the likelihood that the female bonds with the male and provides additional opportunities for sex (and pregnancy).

Human penis size is also thought to be an evolutionary way of trying to trigger the oxytocin system as well. Cervical stimulation releases oxytoxin. So does nipple stimulation. The term "nipple fascination" refers to the unprompted fascination that men have with female nipples (the desire to play with, suck, pinch, and grab breasts) as yet another way to trigger the oxytocin system.

So the evolutionary purpose of the female orgasm is BONDING and attachment rather than simply reproduction. Reproduction and pair bonding have different levels of required commitment. If you want a woman to bond with you, you wanna take the time to make her cum.

You already know the answer, it's been implied here and in endless podcasts since forever. That is to reinforce the thing where men are encouraged to sleep with multiple women, while women aren't encouraged to sleep with multiple men and instead should find that rare one that will give them an orgasm (or accept that orgasms aren't guaranteed so no need to promiscuous whether she has orgasms or not with the chosen man). Evolution is really survival of the “luckiest” not “fittest.” People tend to misunderstand fittest as meaning best when that is not true at all, kind of like how lots of people confuse what the “pursuit of happiness” means. While a man’s orgasm mattered. If a man did not orgasm when impregnating a girl, he would have no incentive to really fight other men to be worthy of breeding with a girl. So those men would just be bred out.

If a girl refused to have sex because it sucked for her, she would at best a genetic dead end or just have to have a kid big enjoying sex.

It is also why men’s body push them to rush sex despite the fact that it would be better if it lasted longer and why our toxic aspects exist (including murder and rape).

Yes, our nature overall is really shit because of evolution. Evolution is horrible and really should be stopped and redirected to make life better for us. You cannot negotiate with it for it has has no agenda or goal, it is just pure raw chaos.

The primary driver for sex for men is the orgasm and this makes sense from the perspective of getting the deed done. To keep the species going.

The primary driver for sex for women on the other hand is bonding to help with parenting and this matches with the nature of the sex act itself regarding fluids exchange. Because the fluids interaction is one way - it’s the male fluids that trigger a biochemical within the female. When semen hits a cervix, the woman creates an oxytocin response. Otherwise known as love.

So there is no gap per se. The two sexes are optimized for entirely different goals.

I’d say it might be because humans were far more openly polygamous for most of our evolutionary past. Men reach climax more quickly because it’s advantageous to not have long sessions where you’re distracted from possible predation while women could afford longer sessions as they benefited from the protection of many partners.

I’ve even read proposals in some papers that the male penis is shaped the way it is because it’s a more ideal shape for pushing the semen of rival mates out of the way.

Reproduction only needs for sperm to meet an egg. Technically, no orgasms need to happen, but if you want higher probability then introducing more sperm is the more likely way of insemination.
