I disagree. I have been in sales for a very long time and the reality is that the market for almost every product is heavily conmoditized, meaning every product looks and feels the same to the buyer. The only differentiator is in how you SELL the product.

Men can improve a lot in the way they "sell" themselves, although I wouldn't really recommend coming across as selling yourself. As a matter of fact, you want to be the buyer, who judges if a woman is worthy of your attention.

So how do you do this? Well, you start by figuring out what your value to the other gender is. Are you interesting, charming, confident, are you good in bed, can you comfortably take charge and make all decisions, do you genuinely like women? If not, what can you do to change and acquire such qualities? Once you have done your best to acquire these qualities, it is time to acquire a sense of self satisfaction and be happy with who you are.

Interestingly enough, I have always found that women will take your lead in how to treat you. If you show up as a bullshitter, they will treat you like one. If you show up as a shy, unconfident guy, they will treat you like one. And if you show up as a guy who likes and accepts himself as he is and has a take it or leave it attitude, they will generally be drawn to you because everyone wants to hang around a guy who projects such confidence.

I know I know, Chad doesn't have to do any of this.

Target Markets are all different tho and really superficial. Its based entirely on opinion.

Every guy I've dated loved to say I'm Japanese to other men. I'm half Japanese. Apparently that's makes me "higher market value" cause men love that. Meanwhile women of their own race have to fit a certain look. But it's okay to be different if you are considered "exotic". Ultimately I don't get it.

If you want to talk about markets, you'll also have to discuss information access. Most basic market models assumes all participants to have full access to factual and truthful information in real time and at no cost. (It's a basic model, there's already enough variables as is)

In the early 21st century while there's plentiful information in real time, the factual and truthfulness of said information leaves much to be desired. This leaves many participants to make, what in hindsight, to be less than optimal choices due to the information they received.

If a tall, handsome, athletic, 6-figure earning male wifes up a short, average-faced, chubby, broke woman, he still has far more options than she does. He could leave and find a more attractive partner, whereas the short, chubby woman would probably struggle to upgrade after the fact.

Employers uaed lines like this for like 15 years until the market changed and previously undervalued employees left for a better deal. Then all of a sudden it stopped being about market value and started being about a lack of loyalty and values because it turns out people who took the minimum deal aren't really inclined to be gracious in this situation when they no longer have to. I strongly suspect that when and if sociocultural conditions shift we're going to see a lot of jilted ex lovers wondering why their partners have left them.

If nothing else, it also means women can't really complain if their men cheat on them or use sex work. This is, after all, also within their market value and if you're going to cut out any other form of value there's no reason for them not to.

This sounds like a terrible and amoral world but a system that justifies the people with the power doing what they want with it also means the moment they no longer have that power or monopoly they can also be freely abused.

The problem is that the SMV and the RMV are two different markets and don’t translate, even though women often wish that they would. This means that a woman’s sexual value does not equal her relationship value to many men. So an average woman might have quite high sexual value to a high value guy who sees her profile on tinder, but a very low relationship value since he doesn’t want to stick around after sex and give her a relationship.

Thus, the men who are at her same percentile of attractiveness end up having to date a woman who has slept with much better men than him (betabux, rather than alpha fucks). Sure, they could reject her and remain single, but men are usually too thirsty for this, and often women don’t even want to date their attractiveness match in the first place.

Thus, a world where it’s socially acceptable for women of average value percentile-wise to have casual sex with men of a much higher value hoping for a relationship ends up becoming one where the sexes develop antagonism towards each other, which is what one sees happening more frequently now.

OFC one's Sexual MARKET Value is solely determined by the market. This is literally true by definition.

However, as in all things, humans also have alternative metrics for value. So the OP is missing the entire point. The point is that when the market value seems way out of whack with other value metrics, people get concerned that either the market is not functioning properly, or that a market dynamic may not even be appropriate for valuing such things.

Whether these concerns are justified with respect to the mating market is debatable. But it's a legitimate topic for debate.

This is too simplified. Proximity and familiarity play a large role in people forming relationships which is why male nurses can have great success forming relationships at work because of their proximity and ability to form bonds of familiarity with potential female partners over time. Or consider a male boss that marries his secretary even though more supposedly desirable women would be happily willing to date him. In contrast, a male engineer may lack those opportunities due to working a near all-male environment not because his general SMV is low. (PS: Don't dip your pen in the company ink) Also, simply appealing to "basic economic theory" isn't fruitful at the individual level IRL since humans actually don't act rationally and even the idea of a dating market is still subject to market failure due to uncertainty stemming from information asymmetries and the like.

The market also depends on where you are. Unless you can/want to do the LDR thing then the options around you are what you are working against.Especially if you aren’t in a suburb or major city.

I’ve known those that are considered gorgeous but they live in a 7K town. If they were in a big city they’d most likely be considered closer to average.

I subscribe to the belief of two value subjective value or market value and objective value.

Now objective value can change in a situation but it still is inherently true so a man that has the ability to walk up a flight of stairs and pick someone up from a fire has more value than a man that's in a wheelchair and can't in a situation of a fire.

It doesn't mean that the man in the wheelchair can't have subjectively more value than the man that is physically capable under other circumstances but something is objectively true in the moment.

If your conclusion that when two people get together they both value each other equally is not completely accurate that's taking into... well I guess I would say it's not taking into account any of the subjective reasons for accepting someone as a sexual partner. For the lack of people that meet the objective necessity of a person standards like being a woman or being a man being in the same age range being of the same ethnic background or of a different ethnic background things that are objectively true and have subjective value to the individual.

Well that's fine and all but the result is that a lot of women will end up unhappy, alone, or divorced because the overwhelming majority are going for a very narrow percentage of men.

A women's "market value" is really determined by who she can get to date her anyway, not have sex, because men have pretty different standards for casual/long-term. A 5/10 can aim for a 7 or 8/10 man if she wants to, but that doesn't mean he's going to date her.
