Personally, I don’t think being “a man’s man” means “toxic” necessarily. I’ve met some very, very toxic “soft boy” types. This term is really very subjective, which is why I don’t often use it. I think of it as a man who feels like he has to display certain toxic traits because he thinks they are “masculine,” but who knows. This whole take seems silly to me.

Believe it or not everyone... and I know this may be a shock for most of you... but in real life, the vast majority of women and men are fine with most gender roles (given they aren't inherently oppressive or extreme), and are attracted to people of the opposite sex who voluntarily fill those roles. As a woman I admire conviction in a man. Standing up for his family and home. The Ukrainian president certainly is a hero to his home and people but he is not my hero. Women don't really know what they want. On an average day when not ovulating the 'list' will be different than when they are in one of their cycles which aren't just menstrual but that's the shortest cycle. It's like a roller coaster. When asked and 'thinking' about what they want the list will be something like 'stable, working, charming, funny, smart" and then they'll be fucking some 'hawt' petty (wanna-be) thug or 'mystery man' that other women seem to wanna fuck. Reasonably attractive, available, agreeable (or at least not combative).

Seems to me that men basically believe that most women can be reasonable and relatively average and are similar enough that they know how to behave and can (if she's willing) fit herself into his life.

Seems to me that women are shopping for men like comparing a device on amazon. Checking reviews, comparing price, choosing colour, hoping to find a deal that's most probably a 'deal of a lifetime' and then looking for chemistry/vibes (how she feels about it)... but shopping like that absolutely kills chemistry.

When there's chemistry first, all the requirements go out the window. Red flags are barely yellow, she figures she can 'work out the kinks' with enough sex, patience and submission.

There are two examples of what I would call toxic masculinity :
