Few things are less attractive than desperation and bitterness, yet those are the natural consequences of ongoing frustration and disappointment in the dating world - not only difficulties meeting people but getting mislead, ghosted, bread crumbed, stood up, let down and fucked around, it takes its toll

I’ve always felt deep down that I’ll end up with a lady who I find beautiful inside out. Honestly I won’t settle for anything less, and while this might sound arrogant, as a good looking, intelligent, kind hearted guy I don’t think I’m being unreasonable by setting a high bar (although nobody should knowingly settle and it’s better to be alone than with someone who you had to compromise to be with)

With the said I’m nearing 30 now and for the first time I’ve began to feel the claws of desperation and despair digging in as I begin to wonder where the fuck I’m going to meet her, and entertaining the possibility that I might never.

Dating apps have completely stopped bearing fruit, I’m not sure what the fuck happened but the profiles in my stack are either fake bimbos plugging their social media or sex sites, or frankly low quality women who are frightfully ugly or clearly mentally deficient or Ill - there are very few wholesome profiles these days and girl next door tier women who seem cute, humble, interesting etc. Until about a year back there were plenty although they’ve been diminishing since 2020z And even if we match the response rate is about 10% these days. Getting someone out on a date is like cutting teeth whereas it used to be the natural progression of matching, and my approach hasn’t changed. Im not going for 18-21 year olds either, I’ve got my range set between 25 and 35. The apps have become repugnantly greedy as well. Pieces of shit preying on men’s desperation, claiming they’re all about helping people meet. Why would the app be designed to be deleted? What type of fucking business model is that? What fools do they take us for?

Friends don’t know anyone they could link me up with and they don’t go out much anymore. The one time my friend set me up with someone she turned out to be nuttier than a fruitcake.

Work is a no go right now. I have no qualms with dipping my penis in company ink, that’s how my parents met after all, but I don’t work with a single woman at the moment ( or even a married woman)

I’m done with bars and clubs for the most part. My approach is all about verbal flirting so I’ve never thrived in those environments and I can’t compete with guys who love dancing. I’m trying to cut down drinking and keep a tight fist on my wallet these days as well. And the odds of finding someone looking for more than a shit drunken fuck are not in my favour.

I’ve had no luck with volunteering or coed sports. I’ve met a lot of great people and had cool experiences so it certainly wasn’t a waste of time, but there were no single women with mutual attraction.

I’d rather not join yoga classes and shit in but really interested in purely to meet women. It just feels a bit slimy.

I’ve taken to just chatting up women out and about because even though it can be fraught and the chances of it working are slim, it feels like the best shot I’ve got to actually meet women I find beautiful and friendly - usually I’ll wait until they’ve smiled or were having some conversation then if they seem reciprocate I’ll ask them out, rather than chasing women down ripping out their earphones to profess my adoration. Reading nonverbal cues and Knowing when to fuck off is critical here as well and I think it’s a large part of the reason why most women are so reluctant to engage with guys. I’ve had a few dates this way but it’s not ideal.

But you can see how the despair starts to creep in.

I refuse to drop my standards because I’ve met a handful of women across my life who do tick my boxes - of course they’ve all been taken or it hasn’t worked for one reason or another, but when we’re talking about a (hopefully) lifelong relationship, compromising to be with someone you’re not really that physically attracted to or don’t share the same humour or values with or something seems like building a house on a rotten foundation.

How of you stave off the bitterness and desperation ?

I bow out of the dating game for a while every so often but as soon as I step back into the ring it’s the same old shit, actually it’s usually gotten worse

(I workout, see a therapist, try to improve myself blah blah blah)
