I'm a 5'9" female, ive noticed the new 6'and above "unspoken"ish dating app preference of females lately, its so shallow and superficial, and their loss, as they are missing out on loads of amazing people over one tiny thing and its not even a thing its like a a two inch height difference. I had a long term relationship ship (almost 3 years) and he is 5’6” and I’m 5’8”. The only time height was an issue, is when he made it one. He didn’t like me to wear heels around him because it made him look shorter- I obviously already liked him and still he was insecure. I had to change my wardrobe. He wouldn’t dance with me (especially in heels) and so I had to sit out of events where there was dancing. I felt so controlled and hated missing out on things I liked because he wasn’t confident. He didn’t like certain types of cuddling because I was “too big” and that made me extremely self conscience. I’ve struggled with disordered eating most of my life so being told I was too big to snuggle was super damaging to my mental health (for reference I’m about 145lbs and only 2 inches taller than him)

I’m 5’6’’, shorter than you. I’m also not athletic, at all. I’m in the worst shape of my life. If I’m able to pull girls, so can you, brother. Albeit, I am a handsome MF and can be quite charming. However, being charismatic is a skill not an inherent trait. You learn and can learn how to be more charming/charismatic.

First things first, you have to love yourself and think highly of yourself that’s the start of being confident. However, you can’t get cocky. It’s a fine line that takes time to master.

Best example is me. I am a handsome MF, but not every woman agrees. Some disagree because of my weight. Some will see past that and focus on how handsome I still am despite my weight. I’m confident in that because I know I look good based off how symmetrical my face is. Additionally, I’ve had women swooning over me. I’ve also had women who avoided me like the plague.

I’m not cocky to think that every woman knows I’m handsome, but I’m confident to know that I am a handsome man even if not every woman in the world will agree.

Something that you need to understand, it’s vital, if the most athletic person with the most symmetrical physique and face thought she/he/they were ugly, a lot of people would too.

This is a very common problem guys deal with after years of being undesirable. Despite being much more fit, much more financially stable, much more to offer to the world, they think poorly about themselves. I mean, it’s trial and error so I don’t blame guys. But, when I was a kid/teenager, I couldn’t understand how a D+ average student with no car, no money, a slacker, and in weak physical health had a girlfriend who would buy him weed. Plus, she would pay for the dates and let him drive her car.

At the time, I was a B+ average student. I wasn’t the most fit, but I exercised regularly. I owned a car and a job. How is he getting the girl but not me?

Trial an error. I learned that I would put women in a pedestal. I wasn’t worthy. I would think poorly about myself. I wasn’t focused on having fun on dates. I was focused on impressing my dates. The deadbeat student, he didn’t think his girlfriend was better than him despite paying for dates, being the main source of transportation, and in better physical health. He viewed her as an equal, as in a human being too. He focused on having a good time on dates for his sake not on showing her he was worthy.

There's obviously something else wrong with you that you are scapegoating on height. 5'7" is average in some parts of the world, and only 2 inches below average in the US. There's no reason it should disqualify you from dating. You are hiding behind this perceived issue and likely ignoring a more obvious issue.

The obvious issue is probably not enough volume. Without talking to hundreds of girls a year, you're not getting enough volume to weather the variance and get consistent results. Go cold approach, join every dating app (with professional pictures), join groups, socialize generally, etc... This coupled with self improvement is results.

You’re approaching this wrong. As soon as you change your perspective from “trying to seduce women to get laid” to “meeting and genuinely getting to know women you’re interested in” you’ll have much more success. Get some hobbies and meet women through activities and shared interests. Get to know them, ask them questions about themselves and be interested in their answers. There are some great qualities here. You prioritize health, fitness, and education. Things that make for a great person. However, what's lacking is a sense of self worth - which is normally a fixed point compared to one's fluctuating self esteem - and confidence. Confidence is "firm trust in something or someone." Which is currently being tied to your romantic and sexual pursuits. That can color the world in either a positive or negative light. How is your current mindset serving you?

Some background. I'm 5'6" Might even be 5'5.5". Yeah, things aren't ideal. However, I would be lying if I said that I wasn't fortunate to meet and date some great women. While it's not some Hugh Hefner situation. I'm not doing bad either. Actually, I prefer to connect with girls around my height or taller. I went on several dates this summer and the only guy I went out with more than once was shorter than me (5'8 ish) and definitely shorter than you. He also took care of his appearance in other ways, had long, well kept hair and beard, could hold an engaging conversation, and invited me on interesting dates like the zoo and the aquarium. My point is, there are other girls like me, who don't even take height into the equation. Without a definition of "cold approach" I'm going to assume you mean going up to a girl and asking for her number. You're right, don't do that. The problem here is that you're acting like the only options are "hi what's your number" or sitting back and waiting for someone what to do something about it. This is not the case. You can strike up a conversation about something first. Say you like something she's wearing, or make other conversation. Like if you're at a coffee shop waiting for a drink, ask a girl what she's getting, or maybe she's wearing something from a tv show, movie or video game you can talk about. Then after a bit, say "hey I've enjoyed talking to you, can I get your number by chance?" And go from there.

Most girls will be put off by any guy approaching and immediately asking for contact details, but polite conversation about something will get you a long way.

One thing this sub will marginalize is the efficacy of physical features. Women will absolutely turn away shorter guys in spite of other worthwhile attributes.

A study was recently featured on Alexander Grace's YT channel, in which women's preferred height range was examined. Women are much less inclined to date outside of their preferred height range. The study is linked below.

I'm here to tell you your height may be a problem in 20% or so of your interactions. I'm also 5'7" and I've been with girls a few inches taller than me. That shit just doesn't matter. The actual secret sauce is being confident, taking the lead so she doesn't have to work hard, and making sure she's having fun, so she enjoys being around you.

Also, what's the point in getting annoyed at this? You can't change your height. You have two options here. 1. You accept your height and move on. 2. You mope around and do nothing and never get the sex life you want. Ultimately this is an insecurity and nothing more. You should go see a therapist or a councillor or something. I used BetterHelp, and it took me a while to find the right councillor but once I did, it was great!

Ultimately, none of this matters if you don't accept what we're all telling you here. I can see some people are being a bit mean about it, but ignore that and focus on what they're trying to say. Currently you have a mindset and refuse to change it regardless of what we say, so all of these people trying to help are wasting their time.

I have things women judge and reject me for that I cannot change. These are things we have to accept and learn to not let them negatively effect our emotions. We reject women still, too, even if not to their face but by avoiding them completely. I'm a tall but thin lanky skinny guy. I don't get hit on. I don't have casual sex. Personally I would trade my height for a better looking face or better hair. I have manners and would you believe it; a very interesting personality.And yet I have zero game to the point that it has become a running joke for me. The reason is undoubtedly related to confidence. I simply don't have good confidence when it counts. I find it fascinating to study the social and biological mechanisms at play that determine how confident I feel.I can feel psyched before a night out, but when I am there I just lose all interest. It feels like a mini depression. All the mental patterns, the social queues from competing males, the game in itself is just a big turn off. I am starting to think what my mum said to me as a child was correct, "the ladies are plain stupid if they don't fall for you". Instead, I focus on enjoying myself, and that is fine.

A big issue is that you're blaming it on an external thing you can't change. That's a problem for a few reasons:

1) it's easy

2) it makes you angry because it's "beyond your control"

3) makes you not look at other areas of your life.

Take a good hard look at yourself. If you cheated up 2 inches (get some taller shoes or inserts), do you really think you would have succeeded where you failed in the past? Suddenly you would unlock these super powers where you cross the line into "attractive"?

As people here have said, height is just so damn unimportant. There are more things at play here.

Confidence is key. You can be short, but confident. What most men hear when I say this is "Be a dick." But I can assure you that this is NOT the case!

Polite, well-manner, groomed, not broke (don't have to be rich, but please at least have paid your light bill!), Kind, shy works, soft spoken works too, but you must be confident.

What I've said above should work for most women.

Myself, I ask for a few more things: must love animals, get dirt on your hands, physical strength is great, but you don't need to be ripped, in fact, being addicted to the gym makes me cautious. I also ask for political alignment and willingness to help the community. Oh, and the biggest deal-breaker for me is this: if ever you have broken more dates than we've been on, that's it, no more for you.

As a woman, I enjoy sex, but there is a real cost to casual sex while maintaining health. So, I'm not into it. It's not about money, but most guys don't give it the weight of consideration that a woman must, or should. I know some girls take risks, and good luck to you should you happen upon them!

OP, we all have some insecurities... too poor, too rich, black, brown, white, asian, one arm, one leg, in a wheelchair, too short, waaay too tall, skinny, too athletic, fat, can't grow a beard, can't maintain a groomed beard, bald...but no nothing is more sad, unattractive, and pathetic than a victim mindset.

And I understand, it's only human to have insecurities sometimes, it's alright to have moments and periods of weakness. I sometimes feel at the earlier stages or the attraction stages of a relationship, it is better to be more stoic. And sometimes, it feels like you have to be a bit delusional to succeed

For eg. Let's say a bunch of brown or asian guys are interested in white girls. If you check raw stats, I'm pretty sure Asians and brown guys may not get so much attention from white girls(at least online). But some of that group are gonna get laid based on the differences in mindset. The pessimists and realists are right(and they would become just a another person confirming those stats), the optimists get laid. The former is gonna become just another person confirming those stats, the latter will be the outlier, the exception. Aim to be the latter. Do you want your views validated and to be told you are right? Or do you want to get laid/get a gf?

Wear platform insoles.(a lot of celebrities do it) I am 5'6" and with a slightly chunkier shoe with 3in insole I am taller than most of the average girls my age.

This works in the beginning especially if women won't give you a second glance if you're short.

But in the long run you need to be confident with your height and accept that there's nothing you can do to change it.
