For reference I’m a guy, single, and I see this story play out all the time.

The way I see it, I do not believe women standards have changed much. It’s just, when given the choice, more women are willing to be single than to settle into a relationship with just any guy.

What upsets men is that they see this choice as a woman’s ability to “hop out of the game,” but still have suitors vying for her attention. She could get casual sex whenever she chooses. She can go out on dates when she feels like it. A goal that seems impossible for the average guy, so they come up with caricatures like “chads,” or “I’m not tall enough,” and “20% of men doing blah, blah, blah.”

But at the end of the day, who cares?

Seriously, once you stop giving those thoughts power, they no longer have any sway in your life.

From my perspective it seems like these men care too much that women could get attention like that so easily. But at the end of the day, what does this attention really amount to? Asks the question for yourself as to why you care so much? Why do you want this attention for yourself?

At the inverse of this, I know a few men who have it like that where they could easily get women. But the thing is they never seem to keep any woman around either. At the end of the day, I’d rather be single for years than go through that emotionally draining experience of woman after woman not working out.

The fuel behind this fire isn’t women standards but men’s desperation to not be single. Most relationship advice for men tends to prey on this desperation and tells men how to be desirable to women in general. IMO, this is recipe for disaster. Stop caring about being desirable to all or most women. As the old saying goes: “you’re not going to be everyone’s cup of tea.”

And that’s totally and completely fine.
