Women may say “creep is someone who doesn’t take no for an answer” but if you look at what these days gets posted as “creepy” behavior usually doesn’t involve persistence, but mere indicators of interest. Most of the stories about “creepy men” usually involve some average-ass looking dude who will make eye contact with a woman in a bar/club who then (if she perceives him as unattractive to her at least) is immediately framed as “this creepo thinks he has a chance” long before he opens his mouth and says something. I even hear women talking about dreading when a guy at the club opens with a question “can I ask you something” so the annoyance and disgust is already there and certainly isn’t reserved for “objectively” creepy behavior.
