unfortunately for us men, "being into you" is not always about being proactive, but being receptive to your advances, date suggestions. laughing at your stupid jokes etc.

My wife was the shy type and I had to be the more proactive one at the beginning of the relationship. But it was still obvious as the whole process was painless and straightforward.

Of course the obvious downside to this is that you still have to take the risk of asking her out and be rejected on the spot which sucks (especially if it happens repeatedly)

This post touches on my main gripe with my interactions with women. I have no interest in all this bp, rp, incel stuff and I can get dates/laid relatively easily. I have body count of 18 as a qualifier

What I really hate is the vast array of signals women put out, and if you misread ANYTHING you get absolutely shafted. I had a girl barely acknowledge my existence and refuse me when I offered to buy her a drink. At the end of the night she asked if I wanted to bang. I was in disbelief

Then another girl who met at a hostel in Lisbon, and we worked out we'd both be in Buenos Aires at the same time the following week. We excitedly shared instagrams, talked on and off, then arranged to meet up when we're both there. We go on what I feel like is a date and she offers for me to stay with her the following night- I though I had in the bag. She walks with me back to my hotel and I of course ask if she wants to come in. She says no and we part. Next thing she messages me to say she can't host me anymore, and I am unceremoniously blocked on everything.

I liked her a lot and I found this a little traumatic. Women are just so unpredictable and hard to read and you'll get proverbially slapped if god forbid you misread a situation

I’ve adapted a one and done policy. In modern day, you don’t actually run into people anymore, there is no third places, in a week you might get just a minute of exchange between a potential new person, and never see them ever again. So you have to capitalize.

I don’t try to build rapport or become Friends with women, that’s going to take forever and not realistic anymore. If I get an opportunity to interact with a potential, I’m going to lead the convo toward asking out pretty quick.

Again, I made comment about this a few days ago. I legit think things are worse now. There are "rules of engagement" in dating which many women dont want to play by. Whereas before women seemed to give men a lot more signals of interest now there's nothing. Men are expected to be both super understanding of womens emotional desires and even more forthright when expressing interest or approaching. The only time a lot of women are willing to openly express interest is when the man is so far out of their league its absurd.

I saw a tiktok yesterday of a woman posting about getting a message from Andrew Tate. It was made to seem as if it was some funny anecdote but it was clear as day that the woman in question was clearly flexing the fact that someone as well known as Tate was in her DMs. And I notice this a lot, its a kind of contradictory double speak thats confusing. She'll preach endlessly about misogyny only to reveal a year later that she's had two kids by a known abuser.

I'm ranting now, but the point I'm trying (and probably failing) to make is that women enjoy the plausible deniability. For someone to make it obvious they're into you they need to be willing to take rejection and somewhat romantically fearless. This is NOT what women are like, modern women are egotistical as all hell. TBH its not even exclusive to women, 95% of people who show up to my boxing gym drop off once they realise that life is not a movie and that taking shots to the face from an experience fighter is going to damage the ego. Its a fear of failure which many people cant get over. Most people today, whilst having lower self esteem than ever, have more inflated egos than ever. I dont even think women not showing unambiguous interest is about being shy, its about fearing rejection and having their ego compromised...so they never even try.

The same people in this thread claiming its easy are the same loser redditor dorks who, when asked, reveal they've barely had two relationships/sexual partners at 30. I'm married and have been with...alot of women. I did a ton of reading, a ton of cold approaching, a ton of dating and a ton of relationships to learn what I know now. There are always going to be shy women, or culturally reserved ones, but these are exceptions instead of the rule.

If a woman is into you, she's gonna make it easy for you to talk to her. Shes gonna be curious about you. Shes going to put herself in situations where she can interact with you. She might take the long way to the break room to walk past your desk - even if she doesnt explicitly interact with you as a result. She might start attending social events outside of work because she knows you're attending them, etc.

Like I said, if you've ever had an attractive male friend, you'd see how warm women become around guys they're interested in and how their behavior changes.

I'm not American (Brazilian). I've heard similar advice from a woman who's definitely not chronically online, and to be honest I think it's partly accurate. It's not that a woman will "make it obvious", because sometimes it's really subtle and indirect. But she might try to find a way to give you some kind of attention that's more directed to you than others. It's not always easy, depends on what she wants, too... So it can get confusing as heck.

Like... I had one who barely gave any sign (we were basically friends who even spent months without chatting), but accepted my date invitation and started taking initiative, e.g. she was the one going for a kiss. Another one was more obvious but never direct: smiling whenever I walked in, laughing at my jokes, saying "hi" out of nowhere although we didn't know each other at first...

But I also had a friend in class who called me "darling" and I called her the same back, she liked being touchy feely and even tickling, but she was dating another guy and I was with another girl (who thought she was coming on to me hard, but it was just how she acted), and nothing would happen.

Had a woman finding my socials out of nowhere after meeting in person, chatting a lot, flirting, accepting my date, then canceling out of nowhere, wanting to change the venue and being colder.

So... I think it's not about a particular behavior, but about the attention she starts directing towards you. But I think being direct is better, because then you confirm where she stands. Trying to do guesswork is exhausting.

I think there's a general playbook culturally handed down to women on how to send signs of interest. But like anything handed down culturally, the product is inconsistent: it morphs from person to person like a whispered rumor. And individual women will vary considerably in their willingness, or ability, to follow any particular social script.

Moreover, as men and women have become closer-knit in the modern era—and this is true, by the way, despite the appearance of online gender wars—a lot of ambiguity has been introduced. I've recently told a female friend that if she ever wanted to hit on me, she'd have to beat me over the head with it, or else I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between flirting and the intimacies of our day-to-day, platonic interaction. This isn't the old days where men and women occupied largely segregated social spheres, with attitudes and behaviors reserved for each. But some things still work, assuming both woman and man have the aptitude to communicate these ways.

Using my last few weeks as an example:

A woman I met once, years ago, recognized me across the patio of a bar. She waved, I stood, she came over. She was overly familiar, though we have barely ever spoken and not in ages. She acted, in other words, like she belonged there—like it was perfectly natural for two strangers who barely qualify as acquaintances to behave as if we were close all along. Of course, there are alternative possible interpretations of this. But given that we weren't close, it was a logical shot-shooting opportunity.

A friend of my roommate recently started hanging out more often. This story is simple: she gave me the eyes. She barely looked at me, unless I was speaking, or unless I look a second to look at her (to see if she'd catch my glance and give me the eyes again). Otherwise, we had normal group-hangout times with friends. But I didn't think I was wrong about those eyes.

In both cases, I would consider their behavior obvious. But what if I had told myself one was just being overly friendly and the other just did "the eyes" as a normal facial expression? Then I wouldn't have shot my shot and learned otherwise, I guess.

If you're good at reading social cues it gets pretty easy to know when a woman is into to you.

Nothing is ever 100% though, there's always the extra friendly women who aren't into you and the cold reserved ones who are, that's just the nature of social interaction.

You can pretty safely assume a woman going out of her way to spend time alone with you, smiling at you a lot, touching you etc, is probably into you.

It's not a big deal if you're wrong as long as you take it with grace.

It really depends on the personality. If a woman is touch feely with everyone, then it means nothing. If someone likes you, then they are more likely to want spending time with you. Them being touchy feely isn't a requirement to show interest because that is part of personality trait that differs with everyone.

So it can be obvious simply by interaction of them wanting to spend time with you when given a choice to do something else. Someone who is indifferent would choose to do something else rather than being with you.

Girls have different personalities and communicate differently. I have a friend that's very friendly and touchy to everyone, as a girl it makes it so that you feel like she's your best friend right away and it's nice especially for someone that's shy, it makes me feel accepted and comfortable with her very quickly. But I can see how it can be interpreted as flirty if it was towards a guy.

For me, I'm naturally kind of cold and distant. So me initiating any conversation with someone and smiling at them is me trying really hard. It's just personality difference between people. It's the same with guys. I had guy friends that are super friendly immediately as well as ones that are very reserved and you know that very minor gestures from him means a lot more.

Women have a diverse set of verbal and non verbal communication skills that allow us to weave social fabric between each other that is seemingly invisible to men. We learn your languages, but many men are never afforded the opportunity to learn ours. They don't have sisters or aunts to practice with prior to adding a sexual nuance.

Attractive men statistically have more "practice availability" to communicate with women, even if they didn't grow up with women, or in a matriarchal family.

Well, even from this simple statement we see two distinct variable. First is "women." It should go without saying (except around here, perhaps), that women do not all think and behave the same. Even where we may observe general trends among the entire population, that's still only probabilistic—for any given woman you meet, there is some chance, high or low, that she will respond in a given way to a given stimuli. The math will change for whatever additional variables you introduce (anything you know about her, for instance). But unless you plan on meeting a statistically representative sample of the entire female population, any resemblance of your own personal experience to predicted probabilities is more or less coincidental.

So, you've had two women whose interest in you was not predicted by the axiom quoted above? And you think that means something?

Plus, communication is a two-way street: different individuals have different talents for issuing communications in the first place. These talents can be improved with time, experience, and sometimes deliberate effort.

I can only assume the axiom, "women make it obvious," assumes a certain average aptitude for communication from both sides, as well as an unspoken "most women, most of the time" caveat.

I had a woman be all touchy feely to the point other women were sure she was into me and it meant jack shit (theater "spiritual" ayahuasca drinking freaks are performatively flirty like that) ,

Did she behave similarly toward other men around you? If so, why did the other women think it meant something toward you? If not, why dismiss it as only performatively flirty?

Women make it very obvious when they have high interest...they don't express it the same way as men which is why you need to learn nonverbal cues and develop some rizz and charisma.
