So weird to me when people claim men are scared of dying alone. As a perpetually single dude, thats one of the last things on my mind. Maybe men keep these feelings bottled up more, but I’ve only had one male friend express anxiety to me about turning 30 and needing to find a relationship, whilst I’ve heard the same from countless female friends. I live in a city so perhaps it skews differently in rural areas

Women gaining economic independence changed the terms of relationships. Thats what happens when you remove coercion (when your only alternative to marriage was destitution, that was not a free choice) from an arrangement and let both parties actually choose.

The actual situation is simpler and less satisfying than a dominance hierarchy. A social contract built on female economic compulsion got partially dismantled, nobody knows how to navigate the result, and a meaningful percentage of men responded by building elaborate navel gazing theories about female nature instead of becoming someone worth choosing.

Quite honestly I see your point, and the fact is that Women do see themselves as the "better" sex because they birth everyone. To an extent I think they are right.

What comes to note though is the responsibility of being the said "better" sex. They set the tone, and with that comes a lot of good and bad like toxic masculinity and body image issues. Even homophobia, which women generally don't have to deal with and choose to flaunt fleeting, is exacerbated by women's expectations. A man with 500 ex female partners would get called gay simply for having just one man service his sexual urges.

As a gay, masculine, and also nerdy man I can see a lot of it so clearly from the outside. Observing my fellow friends conduct their power struggles between each other when the conversation should really be about defining expectations between each unique relationship.

I can agree to parts of this. I think everyone is afraid of this though. For anyone who doesn't live in the West, Americans until recently, were HEAVILY influenced to believe that your goal in life is to work and to have a family. That is all. All of us are to an extent worried about not achieving those things. Women at large were told to keep their legs closed for their husbands. Men were told they needed to be rich and powerful to take care of a family.

I think it's the patriarchy and those with patriarchal views, which both women and men are upholding and oppressed by, who is responsible. Pressure be married, have children, are values that patriarchy MUST push onto the society in order for it to operate. But no one here is happy with it and the pressure is rising. People aren't doing what actually needs to be done to solve the problem. (In my opinion, the way to do this is the conscious decision to operate out of empathy, speak out against injustice until justice is done, have HEALTHY respect for ones self, and to educate others and themselves on human rights.)

Marriage and children and community are a lovely thing but people aren't focused on who they are as human beings and improving their morals/communication skills/genuine wellbeing, and they are operating from a scared and negative place, obtaining things in an unhealthy way, producing piss poor results

I am an American and I whole heartedly agree that Americans including myself, all are to some degree stupid. Not in a "capacity" way but in a misinformed, numb, uneducated sense. Because the American government teaches us to hate and distrust each other based on whether we are male or female or the color of our skin. It's really fucked off. I wish people would educate themselves.

If the American Government knows one thing, it's how to influence people to do terrible things. But it is the peoples responsibility to fight against it. They are cowards, but if you speak out too much here and it doesn't align with traditional values or the narrative that this patriarchal oligarchy needs everyone to follow, something very bad will happen to you.

Not really a caveat but I guess I will add that I do think the "first cause" so to speak is the distorting effect of dating apps on womens' self perception of their mate value (if we must use this language), and the cultural consequences of that. However, the things you mention perpetuate and exacerbate hoeflation.
