I’ve read stories from men about how they cried to a woman who later broke up with them and the man thinks it was because of that. It is really sad, because I know that men typically are socialised to not show much emotion and especially not around those they are not close with. So it does take a lot to let that barrier down, only for some woman to then be disgusted that their partner is crying in front of them.

Does it matter what is being cried about? Or do these women see all acts of vulnerability as pathetic? Why?

I saw my boyfriend cry once, a few tears, when we first kissed. I found it adorable and I look back on it as a very cute moment that made me feel happy. I’ve never seen him cry for any other reason though. All of my friends said they never had a boyfriend cry in front of them either. I asked them all how they’d react if they had and they told me that they would try and comfort them and would not care, but maybe that is not how they truly feel.
