For those not familiar: The screenshot is a joke based on a Twitter thread. My favorite first date argument with a LVM was that it was rude for me to not let him walk me to my car. For context, he was going on and on during our date about how "unsafe" other countries are for women. I reminded him that in our own country, women are murdered on first dates, told to go out in groups, cautioned against walking/jogging at night. So at the end of our lovely date (/s) he offered to walk me "since I told him how unsafe it was." I smiled and declined, and told him that yes, it is an unsafe world but I have been living alone in it for decades just fine. He then told me how rude it was to decline his offer. What a gem!!

When I was on my very first date with a guy (he 26, me 18) at his home, he put a bowl of those small sized Bountys on the table. I was there for like four hours and while there, I ate two of them. He later then asked me, if I don't watch my weight, because I ate sooo many of them. I was floored by that remark and question and was a bit upset, because I thought it was incredibly stupid and controlling. I just answered "No, I don't", and that was that. He didn't like my answer, I could see by the look on this face, but he didn't say anything more. There wasn't a second meeting, he called me a few days later and I heared a girl giggle all of the time near the phone. It seemed to be on purpose, I could almost hear him grin, while he was talking to me. I just thought that guy was disgusting through and through. Never talked to him again after that.

I once dated this guy (also named Ryan!) who made me split the bill and was a cheapskate in other ways, and was a picky eater (which is fine, but I’m not) and would always wave away the dessert menu whenever we were out to eat. I also always got judgy vibes whenever I would finish a burger in front of him as he picked at his salad or whatever. On our last date, I could just feel his withering looks as I ordered a second sushi roll (I think he didn’t want to pay for one) and sure enough, he waved away the dessert menu before asking me. The night ended up with him driving me home weirdly early (I thought we would hang out more after sushi) but instead after dropping me off, he texted me a long paragraph dumping me. I should have cut it off sooner when he wanted to go Dutch and I didn’t listen to my gut. The funny thing was, I had been getting weird vibes for a while and when he would go a few days without texting, i accepted that he was giving me the slow fade and would have allowed it to fizzle out anyway. But then he would resurface and the texts seemed positive so I would agree to another date. It’s just so odd to me that it felt like he despised me in person. I should have listened to that intuition on our first meeting and just ended it sooner.
