I fail to see what you did wrong? You don't owe him a relationship or sex. This is a stranger. If it does not work for you both, then so be it. He should date someone else who is willing to drive or who lives in his city.

How should a relationship with him work out if you already cannot agree with each other and when he, on top of it, insults you, a total stranger to him and acts entitled? He doesn't even know you and his disrespect already shows. Hard pass on this man.

He tried to pass the job of arranging the date to you, which would have resulted in you being the pursuer, and the thing is once you're the pursuer you spend so much effort sorting something out that you're more inclined to go through with it even when you start to see red flags, because you've already invested that energy. That's why FDS says let him do the planning, because it's an indicator to his actual interest in you.

Men do this all the time! I've had men who I have barely known, who kept my contact info, over the course of YEARS (one was when I was contracted to work in tech almost a decade ago!) reach out to me during the pandemic. They all tried to get my info, ask for my LinkedIn or facebook (I refused). They also have asked me where I am living, and if I think I will be in their area visiting. What pieces of fucking shit. Block, delete. What a bunch of useless people. And these men are business owners some of them, and successful. They are still lazy, entitled fucks. One is a musician and semi known. That person has to be one of the laziest and narc leeches I have ever known (they always are).

Yep you dogged a bullet. I rember a couple years ago when my friend (or so I thought) set me up in a blind date she and another friend went to high school with. They told me how great of a guy he was but he was just "misunderstood" and a "virgin like you".

I wanted to be nice agreed to go out with him and both of my "friends" were there to introduce us and sat at a table nearby for the first 5 minutes. I sat down with him and 10 minutes in he asked me if I was really a virgin, if I wanted to see his penis, hinting qt how big it was, and kept insisting I eat some of his food. He also sexually assaulted me when I went to visit him at his house and tried to rape me while his sister conveniently wasn't home. I proceeded to finish the date (I should have left immediately) and took my leftovers home in a takeout box.

When I told them of the incident they said "oh he's not like that". I told my "friends" that they were full of shit and to never set me up with anyone ever again. If anyone is wondering yep it was the same friend from my other posts who used to belittle me and throw me under the bus when we were in college classes together.

The same friend who told people behind my back I was "using" her for her car when she was the one who offered to drive me places in below freezing weather because we had night classes together and "it wasn't a big deal". The same friend who told others that I "stole" a guy she was sleeping (had no idea at the time) with when they were just fwb (she told me she almost got chlamydia from him because she doesn't use condoms and I wasn't worried because I never have sex without one. I was not aware they were having sex after the fact and cut contact with him immediately).

The time another guy we were friends with (who I went to high school with) wanted to date me and I suggested she'd be a better match since she wanted a relationship (or so I thought). She proceeded to manipulate him and when he became ill and hospitalized she said he blamed her for his illness because he was "in love with her" and "it was too bad he liked her better than me and he'd liked her first". All the flags were there, but I was too insecure at the time to ditch her fake friendship.

Right move. Around the time I discovered FDS a guy matched with me on hinge and was a city away. Kept offering me things to go to his city like fixing an aspect of my car I was having trouble with. We kept talking for a bit and he started to get flaky and then the one time he was in my city he reaches out to me for a booty call and I shut that shit down so fast. If they really like YOU for YOU they would drive, period. People can’t hide their intentions for long, better for them to expose themselves then waste your time driving everywhere.

This is why I never, ever accepted dates well meaning friends suggested me. If the friends are not self aware/FDS pilled the men will almost inevitably be garbage. (One tried to set me up with a 60+ year old looking for a younger brood mare)
