Let me preface this by saying I'm not a complete idiot: I know that humanity, for years, decades, centuries, millennia and even millions of years regarded men as the "stronger sex" and women were regarded as the "weaker" ones.

Yes, I know that women were unjustly seen as "too" emotional, childish, unfit to survive on their own, unworthy of the most basic rights, and in several cases were reduced to some form of slavery and they didn't even had a voice or an opinion at all, they were just shut down.

I'm repulsed by that.

Society got to a more civilized point and women could finally stand up against those injustices and fight for the truth: no, they're not less than men and society (except a very vocal minority) got the memo.

We're to be regarded as equally worthy.

There's work to be done as society still holds differences in treatment and injustice is still at the order of day, but we're working on that.

That being said, there's a very dangerous path in public opinion that I see is specially and specifically going strong around here, that scares me and leaves me baffled.

Enter this subreddit.

The war between sexes is on a rampage. Men point fingers to women and women point fingers to men. "You're scum", "No, you're scum".

I joined this sub to discuss how men and women have relationships with each others and was stunned to see the amount of hate that's pouring out of the comments.

That really affects people. Sometimes the hate gets under my skin and I find myself commenting something I afterwards regret, carried on by emotion. I'm personally very sorry for whoever I may have offended because of that.

I know there're two sides to the coin and for every woman hating men there is a man hating women around here, but I would like to address an specific point: there's no sex better than the other... right??

Some men seem to be more straight to the point and we have people just going for it without diplomacy, bashing on women. Disgusting.

On the other hand, some women seem to be a little more subtle but nonetheless as hateful: it's pretty common to see top comments pointing out how men are useless to a woman, how they're better off without having a relationship with a man, how men are replaceable and expendable, how men should just accept they're not worthy of a woman's love, etc. It's also equally disgusting, don't you think?

No, it's not fine to say women are scum as much as it's not fine to say men are scum, no matter how you word it.

Why does it seem to be more socially acceptable to speak as if men were worthless to some women?

Isn't that what brought the current problems in society to begin with? Regarding a sex as a whole as worst than the other?

If you're doubting what I'm saying, just look at this

If you read the "best" comments they're almost all about how men can't even live without women while women are better off by themselves, like a relationship only benefits men and is a burden to women, all while pointing out how useless men are to not even be able to do the tiniest of tasks to have a livable house.

In any topic that someone discusses relationships you will certainly get highly upvoted comments on how men end up offering nothing for women, like women are doing men a favor to be in a relationship with them, just a one sided trap.

That quickly also escalates on how men are just entitled children and for many years kind of tricked/forced women into being in a relationship with them.

It's like men provide nothing and take everything out of women.

Is really there nothing that men offer to society, to women, to individuals, to groups, to anything? Are men really the scum of earth?

Would women be better if men as a whole just disappeared?

I feel like men's lives would be worst without women. I love the fact there're two genders. I feel like they both complement each other. We have several things to work out and smooth or even outright turn upside down to a get a more valuable and just dynamic, but I don't think that one sex is better without the other. Do you?

I would bet that if you pick individuals, except for a very vocal minority, they would find that an specific/several individual of the opposite sex is worthy, but if you take that thought and make it about the whole gender then it seems to be as they're wicked.

Is that really what women in PPD think? Can you say something nice about men so we can try and defuse this non stop hate that's going around?

I would love to see a woman also doing the same asking men. I would gladly point out what I think women as a whole and as individuals do for society, for men, for other women, for everyone: there's a lot to thank for.

Can we take a time to appreciate what the opposite sex is bringing to the table?
