To preface I would like to make clear that men as a group and as individuals are two different entities.

One can rather easily come to this conclusion from the following principles:

  1. Components of a system have fewer distinct properties than the whole.
  2. Systems as a whole have properties that its components do not.

For example while a single cloud may release rain it is not a hurricane. The properties of a hurricane such as its gyration are emergent. The hurricane possesses all the properties of its components but its components do not possess all the properties of a hurricane. Humans are the same. As such it is reasonable to talk about humans as a group and as individuals sepperately.

There exists prevalent dating advice for men sometimes as a group and sometimes as individuals that they should focus on self improvement. Such advice not explicitely talored to an individual man and as such addressed to men as a group contains an implicit premise. It implies when adressed to men as a group that men have not achieved some arbitrary subjective standard of self improvement by virtue of there being no need to self improve if one has already achieved the arbitrary societal standard of self improvement.

This advice when not tailored explicitely to an individual man is implicitly misandrist.

Furthermore if one examines the RELATIVE lack of equivalent advice given to women it can be surmised that society colletively holds to some degree the idea that women by default have achieved said standard of self improvement.
