Went on a date with a girl the other day and it lasted 30 minutes. I already figured she wasn’t my type but I’d give her a chance and upon meeting there was just no romantic chemistry at all. But I decide to talk to her as a friend and things were much better but after a few min she makes some excuse why she’s gotta go and im like ok cool, im gonna stay and enjoy myself. I mean after all I blocked out time from my day to be here and I’m gonna enjoy it with or without you.

And that’s when it hit me. Every single problem with dating can be described with lack of respect, and too much hubris. Sure I didn’t like her romantically either but I also knew she took time out of her day to be there so why not have a good time with someone new? Guess she felt because she wasn’t attracted to me my time wasn’t valuable though. And that’s the major issue. People lack respect for others emotions, time and effort, and have to much hubris believing theirs is more important, almost as if because they aren’t attracted to someone, they are beneath them.

It’s not lack of options, too many options, dating apps or social media though those things may contribute to it. Of course you can say “they don’t owe you anything” and I agree! But what does that matter? At the end of the day dating should be fun whether you meet someone or not.

Imagine how much better it would be if after every date you came out feeling good and had a fun time even if you didn’t find a partner? Dating wouldn’t feel so malicious and toxic. It’s simply that there’s too many shitty people with a lack of respect and too much hubris
