Hi all,

When I was younger I always thought that women were more open minded. I grew up as gay and always thought that women were more compassionate and understanding of people who were different than themselves. By contrast, I always thought men put down anyone who was not exactly like them and were more intolerant of perceived difference.

As I’ve gotten older (mostly my early 20s), I’ve come to the opposite opinion. I highly value debate and I feel that women seem to be averse and shut down debate a lot more. I feel a lot more comfortable talking to men because while many men don’t bond on the nature of feelings, they’re also more likely to tell you what they think and allow room for discussion. I feel like in this country right now there’s a lot of stifling of debate.

I realize that these are giant assumptions. Not all women are against debate and not all men are for it. These are just my personal feelings. I’m not basing this on objective data. I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

What do you guys think?
