Not in the way you might be thinking.

I think a lot of people, men,, women, and others, see men, specifically male sexuality, as inherently disgusting; Like contact with a man sullies a person. In general, society sees women as pure white cloth, and men as mud, when it comes to dating.

Yes, promiscuity leads to problems with loyalty in relationships; but many men (not all, not even most) wouldn't have too much of an issue with their female partners having affairs or feelings and desire for other women, because sexual relations with a woman does not "ruin" you the way they do with a man.

Male sexuality is often demonized, while female sexuality is often dismissed as non-existent, and while the reasons for this are myriad, one significant factor is the demonization of sexual contact with men.

I read a tweet somewhere that said that lesbians are valid in not wanting to date bisexual women due to Man Residue. Yes, the tweet said "Man Residue" verbatim. It's fucking ridiculous. It's like we're seen as mindless, filthy, sexual beasts.

It also gives sex with men an inherently violent image. Words like "ploughed", "ran through", "drilled", "railed", "pounded", etc. give off feelings of violence, not tenderness. Simplifying male attraction to "Men only want one thing" is harmful and dehumanizes us. And the continued use of this (mostly by men) leads to a normalization of male sexuality as selfish, harmful, and ruining.

And this is something perpetrated by all genders, including men. Too many men proclaim this idea of male sexuality being disgusting. Do disgusting men exist? 100% But that is because THEY are dusting, not because MEN are disgusting.

It also leads to other effects. For the longest time, I was really insecure about my sexuality, and was afraid that me even having a crush on a girl was harassment. Like I was unworthy of having romantic or sexual feelings, because it's an affront to polite society. Like I was inconveniencing people at best, and attacking them at worst. And this leads to further issues. Good natured men, who are put off by their own desire, try to remain passive and neutral, because they believe it's the right thing to do; and then they get mad when "asshole" men are sexually successful.

This shit also led to adverse psychosexual effects; I tolerated an abusive, borderline sexually creepy relationship because my (ex) gf was the one who approached me and made the moves, and I accepted it because I was afraid that if I let it go, I wouldn’t be able to find another woman who was willing to be with me.

Basically, we need to re-shape how people talk about male sexuality.

And this isn’t some kind of rallying call to ensure men are more coddled, or for an acceptance of shitty behavior; but that we (men) need to work to change our image, and that starts with being more kind and less self hating.

Men who look down on other men, and only see them as “competition”, instead of actual people; and attack any insecurity they see, are the primary instigators of this in my opinion.

Change comes from within, and we need to hold each other to higher standards, and form stronger bonds to help each other navigate normal human emotions and experiences.
