Many of the dating problems stem from the lack of social skills and self-esteem of the person. So it's hard to suggest something where the person itself has to give no effort.

Promote socialisation irl. Revive the neighbourhood/village communities, so that people would socialise irl with the people that are physically nearby. Heck, even mandatory community activities (like spring cleaning/collecting trash in the neighbourhood).

People nowadays isolate themselves irl. Digital community and irl community are different things, as you can see by people complaining that they are lonely even though they are active in digital communities.

There are tangible macro-level solutions. It starts with adequate wealth distribution.

Fix that, and a great majority of dating issues are fixed. Don’t believe me? The generation that had the most sex is also the generation that benefited from a smaller wealth gap and a stronger middle class.

People become more isolated and focus on dating less because they are too poor to think of anything else. Technology provides CHEAP entertainment. Dating is anything but. Grown men and women (25+) generally don’t want to fuck each other with their parents around. Housing has become unaffordable whether you try to buy or rent.

There isn't one. Men and women have different goals and motivations in relationships and human nature is selfish there will always be contention to some extent. I think recognizing that and being able to attribute some people's behaviors to them pursuing their biological goals in a relationship rather than them being a malicious person is as good as it gets. I'm not saying we're all just slaves to biology, we can control ourselves, but our goals and motivations will always differ along sex/gender lines to some extent.

I assume modernity is making things all around harder for the status quo of yesteryear. With women gaining equal rights as men and entering the work force, with the internet making it easier to find options and dating/sexual relationships, with the fact that humans aren’t naturally monogamous, with the idea of love and romance being sold to us as it has been, with divorce rates getting higher and higher, i assume these to be a pretty big amalgamation of problems that are effecting dating and relationships in general.

The answer I feel hasn’t been thought of yet nor do I think we necessarily need one. Modernity comes along and fucks traditionalism about and then society grows and creates answers to problems over a period of time until the cycle repeats. That’s how it’s been since forever. That’s how I assume things will keep going.

I assume the best you can do as an individual is try to find happiness where you can. Be open to new experiences, ideals, and perspectives. Try to hurt the least amount of people till your fleeting existence is fin. Generic and probably doesn’t quench the thirst for answers but I’m sure we will all be old or dead before there is a solution, then new problems will sprout about.

To make a generalization what is wrong is that people need something that today can only be obtained from other people that have their own goals and their own free will and rights so there is no way to give those people what they need without infringing in said free will and rights.

The only solution will come through technology. Once we create an alternative that does not have free will and rights and can provide for the social needs people have there will no longer be a problem. Sexual and social needs will be like any other need. Just buy the product to satisfy them and continue with your life.

We have a society that celebrates narcissism. We want to be special, confident, to not care what others think, money, what other’s have, and we celebrate those traits in others, even when they’re extreme. We as a society decide what’s desirable and attractive, sadly its assholes. And when you’re not desirable in the eyes of society you feel worthless, your self esteem plummets and then you turn into the asshole. We need to celebrate things like kindness and compassion, intelligence, resourcefulness, things that benefit our community. But we feel so isolated that selfish traits are the only ones that seem useful. It might not be much but I try to show my appreciation and admiration for those good traits with my family, circle of friends and community. Its the only thing I can do for now.

Change social media completely. I'd personally be all for completely getting rid of social media, but that ain't going to happen.

Instead we need a new social media that promotes actual socialising, making new friends rather than showing off to the ones you already have, showing off things besides vacations and clubbing.

No more social media celebrities that look like the douchiest high school kids you knew. No more apps designed to get you to check them every 5 seconds for a dopamine hit, just so they can get more ad bucks out of you. No more breeding grounds for conspiracy theorist nut jobs. No more collecting "friends" like playing cards, to do nothing more than pump up your friend numbers. No more expecting every aspect of your life to be shown off on social media.

Somehow a social media that doesn't make people more vain, flaky, and nosey.

As to how that would work, I don't know. I have ideas, but whether they'd work or not is debatable, and would need to be field tested and tweaked to get the desired result.

Maybe bring back MySpace style page customisation, so we can appreciate your creative side, and get an idea of who you really are. Maybe an interface that allows you to show off things like gaming, intellectual discussions, artwork, what not, instead of just parties and vacations. Maybe some sort of AI matchmaking that matches you with like minded friends and dates. Maybe systems for privacy so you can separate what you show to your boss, grandma, and friends.

There is no “solution”. It’s a power game that involves compromises. Women have an advantage, though, because they tend to behave more collectively and feel more sorry for less fortunate members of their gender. Men, on the other hand, tend to be more individualistic and look down more on less fortunate members of their gender.

Men also obviously need women more than women need men, leading to situations where many men feel compelled to complain incessantly and anonymously on the internet.

Still, high value men do have a bit of power in that they can have women sexually attracted to them and possibly get them emotionally attached to them. The best recourse for a man is therefore to try to become as high value as he can and to therefore even up the power struggle as much as possible.

One of the biggest issues seems to be alienation. People need communities. I would like to encourage people to do more volunteer activities. Helping others and your community helps you as well, and makes you fee less resentful. I wish this was something that was more encouraged in schools already.

Based on what I've seen the issue is that the majority of guys are invisible to women. And women complain that nobody is tall enough or makes enough money. They tell men to "do better" but that's nonsensical. Even if men could simply become taller and make millions, all that would do is move the "average" up. Basically 6ft tall and having millions in the bank wouldn't be good enough because it would still be "average".

Guys would have to stop borderline worshipping attractive women online and kissing their asses in real life. I think that would bring women back down to earth.

Technology or waiting. Technology will address many of the issues men have today. Waiting for societal changes to occur naturally in response to current circumstances, of course this will take several generations and may not occur at a scale large enough to have an effect. A mass exodus of men giving up on dating, essentially full blown MGTOW would theoretically elicit a reciprocal response in womens’ standards and even out the current disparities. Realistically though, I don’t see men uniting on a front large enough to produce actual change. There will always be guys willing to undervalue themselves, be on dating apps, chase girls and pedestalize them and chads that are already satisfied and have no reason to stop.

I think the biggest problem is adult men and women who want relationships simply not having a viable avenue for meeting each other in real life.

Every other issue that is constantly rehashed on this sub can be solved by either individual self improvement or filtering for compatibility. But even if you do everything that is within your power to do, the fact remains that a partner is not going to materialize in your living room. Meanwhile, assuming you missed your chance in high school and college, the only remaining options are:

OLD - which is a nightmare for both men and women due to the combination of an insane gender imbalance of users, algorithms being designed against the interests of users to keep them on the apps perpetually, and the lack of information that can be conveyed in an online profile.
Workplace - which carries more risk than anything else, due to either making the workplace awkward when it doesn't work out, or being accused of workplace harassment.
Bars and Nightclubs - which are culturally understood to be centers for hedonism and casual sex, and attracts a surplus of people who are looking for just that, which makes it a poor option for more straight-laced or even just "normal" people who want LTRs.
Cold Approach - which has an extremely low success rate because it's just not socially acceptable.

What we need is a national chain of large buildings with communal/campus-like environments, oriented around a specific purpose for being there besides dating (such as a huge group of different hobby clubs that are all hosted in the same place), but which does, in practice, become a place that is socially acceptable to pursue both platonic socializing and dating, and is relatively inexpensive to be admitted or become a member of. Basically a large, standardized social club with as much cultural relevance and recognition as a university, that exists in every city, for adults who are out of college. In other words: a college after college, minus the college stuff.

As a principally romantic and a communist here is my solution. Abolish hook up culture through cultural revolution and destroy private property through revolution.

This would mean giving everyone jobs that promote the working class as a whole instead of few capitalist. Giving workers the things they need to survive and be happy like healthcare, therapy, and houses. Make public transportation more efficient and create more public places to socialize and meet new people. Make having kids affordable and manageable.

Encourage and promoting healthy lifestyles, emotional regulations skill, and relationship skills. Couple sex and romance together and encouraging commitment. Depiction of healthy and happy romance in media while reinforcing relationship skills.

This is all I have so far, I know it's controversial but this is what I believe will save romance.

People need to reintegrate socially with their communities. Dating through apps is not a great standalone option for dating. In fact it can be pretty harmful if the person is doing poorly and this continues to degrade their self esteem, as they continuously ruminate on this one, narrow perspective of dating. The dating apps don't even always work properly, and they're designed to keep you engaging with the app. They're not in the business of matchmaking their market out of their app and into a happily ever after ending. It also exacerbates the already lacking social development that's common in the youngest gens with regard to expressing and handling intimacy. I don't mean that as a slight at anyone, just saying that exclusively or mostly dating online alongside nothing else will always give the least desirable experience-- unless you just want hookups.

But far beyond stepping away from online dating for a prolonged reintroduction to people in the real world-- people need to shift from this mentality of looking for someone to blame for their frustrations and lean into introspection. A lot of people (men in particular but not exclusively) would discover how much they get in their own way with regard to sex and relationships. I'd also hope throughout this process that people ultimately get better at extending the benefit of the doubt and recognizing that we're all individuals regardless of our sex/gender and preferences. Blanket statements and grievances that paint the other with broad strokes need to be let go.

you can't please everyone, the solution would be to partition the world in a way that you can choose the system you want to live in (kinda similar to USA where if you don't like laws in one state you can go to another one, just on a bigger scale)

for example if for whatever reason you want to live in a communist dictatorship you go to North Korea, if you want islamic dictatorship you go to Saudi Arabia, if you want to live in classic patriarchy you go to whatever country is enforcing it, then if you want to live in a feminist country you go to another one etc.

There really isn't a solution. It would go something like this:

There needs to be a concerted effort to properly socialize boys in their most formative years, with particular emphasis from ages 1-7.

There should be an effort to stress logic and reason to young girls, with an emphasis of properly categorizing feelings being valid to invalid.

In terms of the mating market, things are a bit fucked. Were as before women were constrained by who was in their proximity and people close to you generally being in the same socioeconomical world, the world irreversibly opened up a woman's choice of men from those close and realistic to the whole goddamn world. Meaning she will compare you, not to the median man in the group of men you and/or she reside in, but, to the top most of men on the planet.

Most regular men won't fare well with that. Most slightly above average men will also not fare well in her comparisons.

Age will become less the great equalizer. With big strides in health and nutrition, 50 is the new 30, the old wall is paper thin.

Money will be the only great differentiator for men. You can be like every other joe, or you can buy your own island. That's the only thing that matters in this world, the only metric every man has direct control and influence on in his life.

Men. Make money. A lot of it. Should you fail with women, at least you have money. It's the only thing that matters. To buy health and happiness.

Most gender issues are caused by a problem that creates a multiplicity of impediments for true human happiness and thriving: runaway technology use. For various reasons, including addiction and competition, humanity has become completely unable to choose when, where and how to deploy our technology. The machines have become the masters.

So we live machine lives at inhuman scales. This contributes to a creed of rabid individualism and social atomization where neurochemical stimulating pleasures are pursued with the highest priority. In such an environment, where the lizard brain rules all, that which binds the genders is completely outmatched by primal differences in pleasure seeking.

This is my personal opinion but if people want certain values in a relationship, if you can afford it move to an area with values that more align with what you want. Like op said you can’t change people, so instead of trying to change people, just go somewhere where there are more people that suit your preferences.

For men in my attractiveness level 4 out of 10 at best the answer is Technology a virtual sex system/relationship system just the female form that smiles and has conversations/faux shared interests some type of sexual release would also be great think of a robotic sex doll. If you saw the movie blade runner 2049 or the AMC show humans think of that. This won't do anything for the social dog pile who will still look down upon and ridicule men on my level but when the door shuts behind me when I'm home it'll give me a reason to wake up in the morning.
